I am very pleased with this camera. I am taking my first real photography class and this camera is perfect for such a class and for taking photos once I've finished the semester. I don't have to spend precious time trying to figure out which knob to turn or button to push. A quick read of the manual lets you know the basic functions and the camera really does a lot of the brain-work. The manual mode lets me fool around with things to get certain moods or feelings and the pictures are turning out great. A lot of the students are having a hard time reading their cameras' meters, but this camera's meter is really simple to read and very easy to see. The price was great and the quality is fantastic!

Easy to use for techno-impaired.......2007-08-07

I bought this camera just before a trip to the Galapagos, where i knew i would take hundreds of photos, and did not have time to test it by shooting a roll before leaving. After reading the instructions in my typical cursory manner, i shot 8 rolls of film, and the photos were excellent. I found it lightweight, easy to set up and adjust, and the results are just wonderful. A great camera for 'lightweights' who are used to the old SLR unautomated heavy bodied cameras none of us carries around anymore.
Bought it with the case. THe only complaint i have is that the lens cap does not securely clip on, and kept falling up, to be retrieved by my colleagues behind me on the trails.... I need to get an attacher ring so that when it unclips, it does not fall off..

Great camera for the price!.......2007-07-12

I've used this camera for about five rolls of film in the first couple of weeks I've had it. It makes beautiful photos and is very versatile, not to mention easy to use. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the lens. Not to say it is bad, because it isn't. It's actually great in normal circumstances. I just wanted a tighter zoom for wildlife shots. That's why they make different lenses, and I'm waiting on my 300mm to get here.

Digital can NOT compare.......2007-04-13

I tried digital. I really did. But I could never get the really gorgeous shots I got from my old Yashica SLR which gave up the ghost several years back. I also could not really "focus" on what I was shooting...just pointed and shot because there was no film to run out of. The result? Pointless pics that weren't even that good looking. Digital just didn't feel "right." So about 8 months ago I decided to go back to film. What to get? After much research, I finally decided on the Canon T2. Absolutely brilliant camera. My favorite feature? I can let the camera handle focus, etc. OR I can go COMPLETELY MANUAL. May not seem like a big deal, but it feels so good being in control of what the camera does when you want to be. And of course, that means letting your imagination go...something sorely lacking in digital. Couldn't be happier and no more pointless pics. Okay, maybe a few, but they still look good. And isn't that the point?

Excellent Camera, Fun to Use!.......2007-03-01

I've only have my Canon Ti for a week and I've already developed and purchased additional film (B&W). I was instantly impressed and amazed at the quality of pictures that I, as an amateur (and first-time camera owner) could produce. The color, sharpness, and realism portrayed in the film, along the light-weight, durable, and attractive camera body makes it a popular model, with no shock.

I did a lot of personal research on modern day SLR 35mm cameras before I made my purchase and my eyes were instantly fixated on this model. The only reason that I did not give this camera a full 5-star review is that this is not the best camera on the market. Dispite the excellent monetary value, depth of use (a 60-page manual included!), and film quality that is produced, this camera is not the best out there, and obviously lacks digital properties. However, being a college student, and having a film camera in mind, this was the best choice for me; I'm a proud new Canon owner, I don't regret my purchase in the slightest, and I can't wait to take more pictures.

All I personally recommend is: look for a better deal through Amazon's private dealers or on eBay, read the instruction manual, don't be intimidated, and have fun...this camera takes great pics, good shooting.

I love this camera.......2006-06-11

I got this camera on my birthday in 2001 based on the local camera dealer advice. I wanted a camera to take good action pictures for my boys karate stuff. It takes great pictures. I have been very happy with my pictures. The last 3 years I have been doing powerpoint presentations for our local school system and the pictures looks great on the big screen. I go to costco to get the film developed and asked for the digital cd. I when I compare my pics to someone elses digital pics in the PPT, my pictures out ways theirs by a far. I am currently looking for a digital camera (processing film gets costly when I do alot of PPT) that will get give me the same result as my canon but right now I will stick with my canon.

Nice pictures, bad craftsmanship.......2006-01-22

I've owned the Ti for two years. I've taken many good photos over the past two years, and really enjoyed the quality of close up pictures with the included lens. I have been disappointed a few times with taking landscape night photos. Even when the camera is sitting still on a flat surface, its still hit and miss with a long exposure.

Recently, the very tiny plastic piece that latches the film cover closed broke, rendering the camera useless. Once more it didn't break from a hard drop, or massive hit. It simply broke after I set it down on a table. Even though I've had the camera for two years, I'd say I've only gone through less than two dozen rolls of film. So it can't have broken from excessive use either.

Luckily I bought an extended warranty and will not be out $300, but now I think I may make the move to digital. If you want to stick with 35mm, the Canon rebel series is good while it lasts, but be sure to protect your investment with an extended warranty.

I love this camera so much! I got it as a graduation gift in May of 2004. I took this camera with me on my european excursion. It takes beautiful pictures and is very very easy to operate. I would recomend this camera to anyone who's looking for a quality 35mm with manual and automatic controls. I love this camera!

21st century starter SLR.......2003-07-12

After 18 years of using the magnificent T70, a dear friend wanted a good complete second-hand SLR kit to start taking good pictures. It was time for me to move on, so I sold her mine. I've always used a Canon and I always will.

The Ti was new on the market and I read every review out there on every Canon being sold. It was down to the Elan7 and the Ti. After a very detailed review of specs, I decided that the Elan does not offer any extra important features to the good amateur photographer justifying the price difference (unless you really want the eye focus control). I also reviewed all Canon lenses and I did not want to be changing lenses for most of my photography needs, like I did with my T70. The Canon EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 USM provided just that.

The Rebel Ti did not disappoint any of my expectations. As a veteran amateur photographer, I was surprised by the light weight of the camera and the performance was exactly as I expected namely sharp, capable and inclusive of everything that you might need. It does use up the two small but expensive Li batteries too fast for my taste, but the extreme light weight compensates for that and more. I did end up getting the battery pack with chargeable AA's for heavy indoor use.

The Canon EF 28-200 f/3.5-5.6 USM is a big but very responsive lens. The auto focus USM speed is very impressive. Two things about this combination you should know. One, the lens has a 72mm diameter, which hikes the price of your filters and attachments. Two, the lens comes only in black and the camera only in two colors. I did not mind the mismatch, but make sure you that you won't.

I've used Canon SLR cameras for the last 21 years and have never had any problems with any of them (a F-1, AE-1, EOS 5). I've been using this camera for the last 3 months and have been very pleased with it.

This camera's initial appeal is the compact, light weight design. However, this camera offers much, much more!

This camera has most of the features and manual setting possibilities found in professional level cameras along with idiot-proof automatic settings that make it as easy to use as a point-and-shoot...

Because you can mount any of the countless quality EOS lenses to this camera, the possibilities of crafting quality pictures is endless. The 28-90 lens that usually comes with this camera is an o.k. place to start, but I would recommend getting the Sigma 28-200 Compact Hyperzoom Lens instead---lightweight, good focal range, better construction than the comsumer grade lenses that are usually packaged with this camera. Canon has been making EOS cameras for the last 16 years and has been a market leader all that time. There's lots of great new and used lenses available.

Another definite plus to this camera is the awesome ergonomics. Unlike most SLR's, you can easily operate this one (including setting all manual and automatic settings) with just your right hand. I've never used a camera that I've been able to do this in a natural, comfortable and secure manner.

When buying a SLR camera, you likely intend to purchase additional lenses and/or flashes to build a system (if not, maybe a point and shoot would be better). Canon has an awesome line of flashes, lenses, and other accessories for their bodies. Sadly they all add up to quite an expense, so buying a body at the lower end, such as this one, can allow you to spend more on lenses, which ultimately contribute much more to the final product (only your own abilities exceed them in impact). The difference between this body and some of Canon's higher end ones is minimal for most users (bodies costing 2-4 times as much are metal, sealed from the weather, and may focus quicker, but few really need any of this). This camera leaves few feautures out (especially when compared to competing brands' cameras in this price range), and you can build a wonderful system around it. If you ever do develop a need for a fancier model, you will have learned a whole lot from this body and will have a collection of lenses and flashes to continue to use.

I had my Cannon rebel G stolen on Chrismas, so for a replacement I have been Eying the new Cannon Ti. Every store I've looked at sells this model for $300, and up. It comes with the smaller 35-80mm Lens, and thats it. I was very happy with this package deal, because it came with a better len's 27-90mm( Nice Close ups!), Camera bag, 2 batteries, cleaning kit, Mini tripod, and a role of film! On top of that it was free to ship! The camera itself is beautiful, a nice step up from my stolen Rebel G!

I love this camera. I am not a professional photographer. I use my camera to have fun. I have taken over a dozen rolls of film and they all turned out great. I have never owned a SLR camera until now, but I will from now on. This one is very easy to use. I did get the deal with the case and all, but I paid only $368. As for the comment about making more money, every store has sales. Sometimes you hit them, sometimes you don't. My pictures (of my newborn son) are priceless and I am so glad they were taken with this camera instead of another.

I started to notice this page for 3 weeks now and the price keeps going up every time. It started at $359.99 when i saw it for the first time then 369.99 and now its 399.99. Not sure if amazon is playing a trick to make more money during holiday season???

For the money it's hard to go wrong with this lens. I have used it on my Rebel 35mm SLR and on my Canon Rebel XTi and have had good luck with both. Sure, it may not give 100% of the image quality of a $300 or $500 lens, but for the money you get a good lens and save a lot of money to put towards a nice zoom lens.

Lens is fine now that I have it...First one had to be returned, defective, and I got the return of the good one 2 weeks later, no problem on the return..Everyone cooperated fine. Recommend all highly.

Clarity and sharpness of the pictures are not that great. Yet, if you think about the price of this lens, it's not really that bad. The material used feels and looks like a toy. If you really want a good wide angle lens, I recommend Canon 10-22mm or if you want something cheaper, a Sigma 10-20mm will give you the best result.

if you want a great wide angle lenses without spending alot ,buy this one it does everything I have asked it to do,,and is great in tight areas ,,I take alot of room pictures and this lense allows me to get more of the room into each shot.no trouble ,,i did add a uv lense for protection more than anything else..

Excellent Product.......2007-01-19

Purchased this as a second choice vs a more expensive one as a christmas present to myself. I found it to be just what I wanted. Showed it to my daughter-in -law in Morganfield, KY who is a professional photographer and within the hour she got on the computer and purchased the exact same lense for use in her business. We both used these lenses over the holidays and could not be any happier. Great !!! Great !!! Great !!!

Tokina AF193 19-35mm on a Canon 350d (Rebel XT).......2007-01-04

The Tokina 19-35 is a affordable wide angle lens for the EF lens line. The autofocus works well (including in low light situations). The lines is of decent quality material (I don't think there is any plastic on the lines) and has worked flawlessly so far. I would recommend picking up the lens hood to reduce stray light from entering the lens. If you are looking for a wide angle lens this is very affordable. However, if you have the standard lens that comes with the 350D this lens won't provide a significant difference in terms of a wide shot.

GREAT LENS FOR THE $.......2006-11-10

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST WIDE ANGLE ZOOM LENS ON THE MARKET FOR THE MONEY. I USE IT ON MY CANON DIGITAL REBEL AND IT IS GREAT!

High performance, low price........2006-05-20

I recently bought one of these lenses and the first thing I did was test the optics. I was surprised to find that the resolution at full aperature was very high (center and edge) and marginally improved until you hit f8 or so. At f11 the image starts to soften up and at f22 it gets VERY soft. This lens likes to run at the wide side of the aperature scale. At 19mm, CA can be spotted at full aperature on objects backlit by a bright sky... but in minimal amounts. Stopping down to f5.6 removes any trace and produces a nice sharp image. I'd say this lens produces good images wide-open and outstanding images from f5.6 to f8. Anything above f11 should be avoided.
I compared the performance of this lens to my Sigma 24-70 EX DG and I find that Tokina holds up well in the comparison. The best images from the Sigma were no sharper than those from the Tokina at the same focal length. This says a lot considering the reputation the Sigma 24-70 has for image quality. CA levels were comparible between the Sigma and Tokina also (in short, VERY low and in controllable amounts).
Bottom line: I picked this up new for $125 plus $5 shipping. It easily keeps pace with lenses 4 times its price. If you want to buy a DSLR, I recommend that you buy the body only and pick up one of these lenses for starters.
