Magnavox 13" TV-DVD Combo........2007-05-15
One of the biggest mistakes I've made in an on-line purchase.
I actually bought this tv for a my grand-children. I didn't attempt to use it for a long time. The dvd player is no good. it works for about 20 minuets and that's it. I waited too long to return it, so it's my loss.
Don't Buy This One!!!!!.......2005-06-23
We have used this DVD player maybe 6 times. It no longer plays DVDs at all - it keeps displaying "DISC ERROR." Like another reviewer, mine will play audio CDs. I did call Customer Service and once they found out it was out of warranty they would not talk to me unless I paid $15 - which of course I did not do. Based on other reviews, I would say Magnavox is incapable of making a DVD player that can last longer than a couple of months. STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE UNLESS YOU WANT TO CONTRIBUTE $200 TO THE MAGNAVOX R&D DEPARTMENT TO LEARN HOW TO MAKE A FUNCTIONING DVD PLAYER.
Add me to the list........2004-11-14
I'm currently on hold with Magnavox. The lady is located in India. I've been on hold for several minutes. Here's my problem:
When I first purchased the unit, it played DVDs fine. After a few weeks, I began having the disk skip or stick during movies. Now, it won't play any DVDs, period.
Mine, however, will play Audio CDs. Get that. So I've tried 15 different dvds that we own, and it won't play any of them anymore, nor rentals, but it will play audio cds.
Many people have experienced the same problem, and the customer service doesn't sound to be very good. But even if they had excellent customer service, I don't think anyone would prefer to buy a machine that's going to force them to jump through all the customer service hoops just a few weeks after buying it.

Don't buy this tv/dvd!!.......2004-05-21
I bought this tv/dvd in August 2003 and never really could get the dvd player to work. I called Magnavox on December and the 90 day warranty was out so they would only pay for the part not labor to fix it. They sent 2 replacement parts which were both defective (and took 2 1/2 months to do), then placed all of those parts on hold while they looked into it for 2 months. Then the sent another part and said they check it and it worked. It was also defective! Magnavox has not been helpful at all!!! After 3 parts and 5 1/2 months of it being in the shop, they are going to take over 2 weeks to DECIDE if I can get a replacement tv...which I don't want...and they won't refund my money! I am now dealing with the store I bought it from to try to get my money back. If that doesn't work, my attorney said to take them to small claims court! What an ordeal for a $190 tv!!!! Never again will I own a Magnavox or Philips product!
Careful with this one...........2004-05-13
I have been extremely dissapointed with this Unit. I bought it for Christmas to use in our trailer, unboxed it and played the first DVD - everything worked fine so I put it back in the box. Middle of March took it out of the box in preparation for our first trip out in the trailer and it wouldn't play a DVD. I tried the disc cleaners, etc, nothing worked. I called Magnavox and they told me it only has a 90 day warranty on labor. I got 2 estimates to have the DVD fixed - over $100.00 for a TV/DVD that was used 1 time. It now is a 13" TV - won't play DVD's, CD's at all. I would not purchase this unit again.

Not bad for a little kitchen TV.......2007-06-01
The TV works well, but since it isn't high definition and doesn't have a digital tuner, it won't be good for that long. I use it as a little TV that moves around, sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes in my office, etc.
Not a bad deal, but you need to know going in that it won't be very useful after 2009.
Product Description
All in one with the Magnavox MC132EMG! This 13" Designer TV / VCR combi has auto clock with time zone, an earphone jack, front a/v connections and is energy star compliant. And because its a Magnavox Combi, it has a VCR too....The VCR has auto head cleaning, auto repeat playback, plays S-VHS tapes and has an English and Spanish on screen display.
Amazon.com Product Description
The MC13E2MG TV/VCR may be small, but it packs a ton of features. Its light weight (23 pounds) and 13-inch screen make it perfect for kitchens, bedrooms, and dorm rooms, while its front-panel audio/video input accommodates a camcorder, game console, DVD player, or second VCR quickly and easily. Automatic features include auto tracking, auto repeat, and auto head cleaner.
The VCR's ShowGuard backup memory keeps your timer/programming safe, even through power outages. If the power fails, timer recordings will be restored when the clock is reset. (The timer recording will not occur if it was scheduled to take place during the power failure.)
Meanwhile, auto clock set with time-zone adjustment sets itself to the correct time from a user-approved channel carrying a time signal. Daylight-savings time adjustment automatically compensates for daylight savings time in early April and late October, so you don't have to reset the clock twice a year.
When tape playback begins, auto tracking seeks the optimum video and audio tracking positions for the clearest picture and sound. With automatic channel setup, the VCR tuner scans through television frequencies, automatically storing active broadcast channels into memory. Then, only channels programmed into memory are tuned using the channel up/down buttons on either the remote or front panel. Automatic channel preset can be repeated whenever desired, and you can always add or delete channels manually.
Other features include closed-captioning, bilingual (English/Spanish) onscreen display, a sleep/wake timer, a monaural earphone jack for private listening, repeat play, quasi-S-VHS performance (lets you play S-VHS tapes at standard VHS resolution), and forward/reverse search.
What's in the Box
TV/VCR combo, remote control, remote batteries, warranty information, and user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
Magnavox 13 inch combo bombed quickly.......2004-10-25
This is lightweight and easy to remove from the red box it is packaged inside of. I was able to insert the cable into the jack and then plugged in the unit.
The first step is to choose the language and then use auto preset for the channels. This television does have the capability of changing the date and time according to daylight savings time. This also comes equipped with the V-Chip, but since my children mainly watch the same stations and videos there is no need for this system in our household. If I choose to add major stations to my cable lineup than I would look into the V-chip options at that time.
I initially chose the Magnavox because the display models showed buttons on the control panel of the unit as rigged and they looked stronger than the usual round buttons from other sets we have had. It was not until I carried the box inside and realized that the cover showed the regular buttons and that is what we got. I did not like that the supply was underneath another model, causing confusion for customers.
The front panel also has an earphone jack and there is a red light signal when the power is turned on. The video injack and audio injack are farthest to the left and then the power button, volume options and channel. The next section closest to the right are the forward, play and rewind buttons along with the button used for stop and eject. This creates confusion for my son to have to press this button twice.
So far I have no need to add, delete or reset channels. When there is a power outage due to weather or cable mishaps as well as our internal wiring, the Magnavox goes back to the channel it was on, unlike the previous set that would be at the language prompt.
The power can be on or off to eject a tape, but the unit must be plugged in. If the manual timer programming is in process the tape cannot be ejected. Should you need to interrupt a timer recording you can press stop and also find out how much time is left on the timer by pressing the display button on the remote control. The picture control options are the standard ones such as brightness and contrast. These are brought to the screen in the lower middle with them preset to the middle of the line. I usually have no need to change these unless we have an old tape or something really dark.
I made the purchase on May 2, 2003 and by the end of the month the videos were not displaying correctly. We ended up returning this to Best Buy for a Sylvania 19" Combo.
We could hear the videos, but they all had the same static silver screen with nothing working. I tried the manual tracking and even a cleaning video with no response. The only helpful hint that seemed worth trying in this instance was the one indicating playback is poor or tape is destroyed. The options are tracking or using the rental feature. This is supposed to improve picture quality of worn videotapes, but I tried a few brand new ones and still nothing worked.
We have gone through three Sylvania Combos over three years and recently bought a 13" Daewood.
Those families who have children with autism usually go through televisions and VCRs quite frequently due to the constant pushing of the buttons.

I bought this because it was a Philips and only $119. I love all the great features it has, especially Smart Picture which adjust the settings for what I am watching. For a little TV it sure has a lot to offer!
Product Description

3 Years later :).......2006-11-03
Sit's in my Garage on a shelf to this day 3 years later. Still as clear as a bell, works like a pro. I guess I can add this one to the "Glad I got this when it was on sale". Way worth it. When I got it, was only $49.99 ;p
10 +
Shame they don't make this one anymore, anyone want to sell me theirs?
Sure wouldn't mind a few more of these sitting around.
My "Best Buy" of the month.......2005-09-29
The price was right, the product met my needs and its claims. Delivery was on time. What more can be asked for.
Good small TV.......2005-03-28
We've had our model for a year, and for the price, it was an excellent value. My mother bought a 13 inch anolog off brand TV for about $10 more this December, and it lacked the features this Magnovox model has.
Pros:
Great picture for analog
Smart Sound and Picture
Easy to navigate menus and easy sleeper programing
Front jacks for game consols/cameras and a headphone jack
Excellent price
Cons
Mono sound
Rather large footprint for the size
Overall, this was a good purchase. Our apartment is small and at the moment, we don't need a large, expensive TV. This fit our needs well and really delivered quality for the price. Would be great for people who need a second TV in a bedroom/guest room, or for a college student or apartment dweller.

Perfect for what it is intended for.......2007-08-15
Small so perfect for tight spots. And still remains nice and compact while adding the function of a DVD player. Picture is nice and crisp. I'm happy. 5 stars all around
Not smart........2007-05-31
Awful. Every time I turn the bloody thing on, it insists on having me select a language and wait while it scans for cable channels. After a few minutes, it tells me "no channels found" - Duh! I bought this d@Mn thing to use it as a _portable_.
Also, you can't do a thing without the remote (although that is true of too many products today)
When I turn on this Maganavox product, I hear John Cleese saying "Maganavox - smart - very Smart" and it makes me want to mail this thing to him. I paid $100 at Wal-mart. I would not have paid $5 if I had known what a pain it was.

Can't hear.......2006-07-19
I cannot hear anyone on this phone, even with the "voice enhancer" feature. If I answer with this phone, I always search out another phone in the house to talk on.
great buy.......2006-06-05
i've learned through trial and error that panasonic makes some of the best phones on the market. these are no exception, especially for the price. they are crystal clear and have many of the features you will find on their more expensive models, such as speaker phone, call-waiting caller id, phone book, etc. i've never felt the need to use a head-set on a house phone, so the absence of that feature is no big deal. they are a bit smaller than some of panasonic's other phones, but in an "ipod sort-of-way" that makes them cooler.
Fantastic.......2006-01-22
This phone is everything I needed. It is crystal clear, has all the features I wanted, and is very reasonably priced for the value. The extra handset is a real plus because it only needs a.c. power for the charger and does not have to be installed where a phone jack is. Therefore, it can be placed anywhere you need another phone.
It works great as an intercom, and has a paging feature handset to handset. I was in the attic searching boxes and talking to my wife downstairs. Last week I also used it to talk to a TV repairman who was on the roof tuning my antenna while I watched the reception inside the house and was able to tell him when it was a perfect picture.
All in all, I am 99.9% satisfied. If I were improving it, I would probably add a earphone jack. However, the phone has an excellent handset speakerphone, which I use on almost every call, particularly on those long-wait automated answering devices. Callers can hear me perfectly (I ask them) and the speaker sound is great. (Unfortunately,They can also hear my wife even in the other recliner.)
Very nice phone system -- especially for the pricetag.......2005-12-17
I previously had a VTech expandable phone system. I loved the convenience of the features, but people used to tell me they couldn't hear me very clearly. It also went through batteries in no time. I finally broke down and bought this new phone system, and it's a vast improvement. I'm told the sound is much clearer. One feature I was looking for was a visible voicemail message indicator light, which this one has. (It's not the default setting, though. I had to go through a few steps to set it up.) I love the ability to copy my phonebook to the other handset at the touch of a button. My only complaint is that you can't add additional phonesets. It came with one expansion handset, but that's all it will take. I would have liked to have the option of adding more, but I guess I'll live. The signal range is quite good, and I'm very happy with this purchase. If this is your price range, you should be very satisfied with this phone system.
Panasonic KX-TG2422.......2005-10-15
