With a sleek silver design, this boombox will fit neatly on a shelf or countertop to bring music into any room in the house. It comes equipped with a top-loading CD player, as well as a cassette player/recorder, and digitally tuned AM/FM radio with single-button access to 20 station presets (10 AM and 10 FM).

One-touch recording allows you to make cassettes from your favorite CDs with consummate ease. Most of the controls are located on top, including forward and reverse scan and track skip, play, pause, and stop, in an unusual configuration around the LCD panel. The handy CD repeat button replays an individual track, the whole disc, or a sequence that you can program for those long afternoons. CD playback can withstand a good shaking, but shock the unit or turn it upside down and the music will stop, although recovery is quick and right from the point of interruption. The cassette might be the better choice for rough activity, with an intuitive six-button layout along the bottom front edge. For radioheads, the telescopic antenna out back adjusts for optimum tuning, and, for its own protection, locks down when not in use.

This CD/AM/FM/Cassette player is getting poor reviews from most consumers; so I have to say....you get what you pay for. If you want an inexpensive CD/RADIO/Cassette; then buy it. If you expect it to last....forget it! I have had experience with Boom Boxes from White-Westinghouse, GPX; which are similar to this one; and they have all been disappointments. They either had poor bass, poor recording quality, or poor radio reception.

BUY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK....BUT KEEP THE RECEIPT! IT is your only hope of returning it.

The CD player on this was execelent and despite what other reports say it was perfedctly clear and the speakers were also good. The volume had a wide range and was good for any occasion.

The digital tuning was definetlt a plus and ALL my favorite stations came in.

Don't buy this Boombox.......2002-03-21

I brought this radio because it is small and I wanted to use it at work to listen to the radio or my tapes. Needless to say that the door for the radio broke off within a couple of days and the CD player just wouldn't work. I sent it back and got another one but the CD player didn't work on that one either. If I could have given this radio zero stars I would have! Whatever you do, do not buy this boombox.

Doesn't work half the time.......2002-03-06

This seems to be a love it or hate it item - I bought one for one son and it was adequate, didn't plan on recording or having "theater quality" sound. Doesn't have any extra features, but I didn't pay much for it either. I bought a second one for second son and the CD player on this one doesn't work half of the time, makes a sort of grinding noise and decides there's no CD there! Opening and closing the door repeatedly eventually will make it work, but I'm shopping for something else.

This radio is garbage. The radio can't get in the strongest local station. The cd player skips. The overall quality of the product is terrible and I'm a product designer.

Came as a Pioneer drive in retail box.Took about 5mins to install under WinXP.Burns DVD-R at 2X(great feature).
DVD-R blanks are also dropping in price daily.
For the price it is a good buy.

**EDITED REVIEW**: I've had this drive for about 90 days and was really happy with it. Unfortunately, it no longer burns DVD-R. Power Calibration Error. Pioneer suggests I return the drive for servicing. Reliability may be suspect here.**END EDIT**

I installed this on my WinXP system and it burned a 30-minute DVD perfectly on the first try. Mine came as a Pioneer DVR-A03 - there was no indication of CenDyne anywhere except a sticker on the side. All of the docs and stuff are Pioneer. Bundled software isn't very intuitive - I use other packages for DVD authoring, etc. CD writing worked fine, too, but a little on the slow side. Pleased overall. Only came with a DVD-R disc. No DVD-RW, no IDE cable included, and the firmware is difficult to update under WinXP due to requirement of ASPI. Those three plus the CD-writing speed (lack of) drag it down to 4 stars.

what is lange amounts of data?.......2002-02-16

it's a good drive for large amounts of data. However, I have had terrible luck using this drive to back up lange amounts of data. If you're using the drive for that purpose, you might want to look into some other options.

I bought this DVD-R becouse I seeked good compatibility with dvd drives. this drive does the job well. data disks read well on dvd-rom drives. dvd-video disks can play on all most all new players.

I think this recoder is beter then the HP dvd+rw 100i,
IF YOU NEED TO BACK UP LANGE AMOUNTS OF DATA AND RECORED DVD-VIDEO DISKS THEN GO FOR THIS DVD-RW DRIVE!! IT'S WORTH THE PRICE.

Offering terrific bass for their size, and very good sound for their price, Design Acoustics' DA-S16 bookshelf speakers walk a fine line between efficiency and affordability. Hook-up is simple using the speakers' five-way binding posts, but positioning, as with almost any speakers, can take a little work. At 15 inches tall and 11 inches deep, they are larger than many bookshelf speakers, accounting for much of their great bass response. If anything, we found the low end a bit heavy, even with the speakers on stands and away from the walls.

In keeping with their predilection for low frequencies, the DA-S16s are actually a little "dark" overall--recessed in the midrange (where most voices are), and mellow in the highs while maintaining strong imaging, dynamics, and punch. The DA-S16s play quite loudly, holding their own to a point, but breaking up sooner (or more noticeably) than comparable speakers as they reach their upper-level limits. Still, the speakers proved musically enjoyable over a lengthy review period.

The DA-S16s sounded better with inherently bright music, such as pop and rock. Acoustic music seemed to breathe better in the DA-S16s than dense electronics textures, making the speakers a nice choice for classical music, especially considering their dynamic authority.

If you're into bass, but short on space, these are the speakers for you. If, on the other hand, you prefer a more balanced sound, it'll take off-the-shelf, in-room placement, and possibly the aid of tone controls or equalization to tame the bass.

Design Acoustics DAS-16.......2000-07-12

This is one very enjoyable speaker to listen to even over extended periods. Highs are detailed and mids are open and clear without being harsh. Suitable for small to medium sized rooms these will sound even better with the addition of a powered sub which extends dynamic presence even further. Right now I have these connected to an Adcom GFA-555 from the pre-amp outs on my Sherwood RVD-8090 receiver. To say I am satisfied with these is an understatement. I am thrilled...and I've been trying different speakers for about half as long as I've been around. If you like your music real loud, however, then get a pair of those new JBL Studios. If you don't then you'll probably appreciate these Design Acoustics bookshelfs. They might be cheap but they sure don't sound cheap.

A piece of real [...]. Never even think of buying this.

After lot of difficulties, I could finally point it to the moon. I only saw white light through its eye-piece as much as I can see with my naked eyes!!! The eye piece is so small, it seems as if I poked a hole on a piece of paper and watched a portion of the moon through the paper. And I paid so much money to see that [...]?

Then I focussed on a distant star. It just appeared as it would appear through a 4x cheap binocular.

Believe me, don't buy a telescope if you live in a city and have enough "noise" from other light sources. If you live in a country side, you'd better buy a better telescope and not this [...].

I finally sold it on ebay and bought a good pair of Nikon binocular. The moon looks awesome through the Nikon binoculars. Read my other review on Nikon binoculars.

Too Small, Poor Mount, Useless for Astronomy.......2005-08-19

This scope is not a good starter scope for anyone interested in astronomy. Here's why:

1. The objective is too small, only 60 mm, 2.36 inches, so it is too small to bring in the light necessary for even a beginning look at the universe. I suppose it is adequate for the moon, but that is it. The planets will appear as very small disks. One will be able to see Saturn's rings, but the image will be very small. Forget it for deep sky objects, clusters, galaxies, etc.

2. The mount is an altazimuth, which will not follow the celestial object in the sky. The earth is rotating, and anyone focusing on a star or moon will quickly find the object drifting out of the field of vision. A better mount is an equatorial mount which makes it much easier to track objects.

3. The mount will vibrate when touched, which will cause the image in the eyepiece to "shiver", which is very frustrating.

Even for the low price, don't be enticed by this scope; it has too many flaws. Save your money for a larger scope with a better mount.
