Amazon.com Product Description

The Mintek 26" LCD TV with DVD offers a solid entry into the multimedia experience. In addition to the slot-loading DVD player, a host of digital inputs make for easy viewing of digital photos (via either the memory card socket or USB port). Or connect a HDTV receiver to view next-generation detail and clarity. Or you can use the 26" LCD as a computer monitor (via the VGA port,) with a resolution of 1280 x 762. Surfing the Web becomes a whole new experience in widescreen. Finally, a DVI port rounds out the input options.

Beyond media versatility, the Mintek scores well in its technical aspects too. The LCD panel has a long life (rated at 50,000 hour lifetime,) a respectable contrast ratio of 600:1, and excellent brightness, thanks to a new backlighting technology.

The DTV-263 looks high-tech too. Its slim profile lets you put it almost anywhere you need it. The 26" screen, while not as grand as a 42" version, is large enough for great viewing without overpowering modest spaces.

Mintek has produced a great HDTV-ready multimedia unit perfect for the budget-driven.

In the box: TV, multi-function remote control, composite and component video cables, an audio cable, and a USB cable.

Customer Reviews:

1 out of 5 stars Good TV, lousy Customer Support.......2007-01-20

Good LCD TV, unless it breaks...there is NO customer support! I've had this LCD TV for about 8 months, and it performs well, especially when using the built-in HD-DVD. The remote control volume function went out, and I contacted Customer support...5 times!! (they are always unavailable, and you get to leave a message that will never be returned.) I even e-mailed them, and I still get no response.

1 out of 5 stars DEFECTIVE DVD-PLAYER - twice.......2007-01-03

I am now waiting to hear from Mintek tech/support or customer service to repair or replace my SECOND DTV-263 within a year. After paying shipping costs plus a six-week wait for the last replacement, I would NEVER order this or any Mintek product again.

5 out of 5 stars Good bedroom TV.......2006-11-11

The Mintek 26" combo dvd/tv is a very good tv for the bedroom. I have the TV hooked up via HDMI Cable to a tv/dvr box, and the picture result is very good quality specially on HDTV channel and even on nonHDTV channels. The sound is nothing to scream about but for the tv being in the bedroom, I have no issues. If it was in my living room where my 42" plasma is situated now, then I would scream my issue with the sound, but it's not. The dvd player is a little bit noisy when you first turn on the tv and when you insert a dvd into the slot, but it's quite when the actually movie is playing. I've had this tv for 6 months now, and I have no complains with the TV or the DVD component.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Experience.......2006-07-22

I purchased the DTV-323. Within one day the remote no longer worked. Working with customer service was a nightmare of unreturned phone calls and perpetual hold. The mfr. admitted there were problems with the remotes but were still obstinate about sending out a replacement without receiving the defective model. I finally gave up and just bought new ones. Be careful because there are no universal remote alternatives.

The picture quality for regular tv is so-so as well.

4 out of 5 stars Nice TV/DVD for viewing.......2006-06-25

We bought this Mintek unit about a year ago, and while there was some initial quality control concerns - the first unit shipped without a remote or power cable, the company (eventually) rectified it.

However the unit itself is very competent. The picture is good, and who cares about the speed of changing channels (reported as a shortcoming by other reviews)? You will undoubtadly use a cable box as input, which will be the bottleneck for channel chaning speed.

I like the VGA and DVI cable inputs, both of which I have used with my laptop sucessfully. Makes a great "slideshow" panel for your digital photos. The sounds is not great, but again, we use it as a viewing device, and route the sound through a real amplifier/speaker system.

The DVD picture is great (no analog/digital translation) and its one less component to worry about and wire. The buttons and general interface make sense, which is a compliment in this world of incomprehensible UI decisions. The USB interface is too slow to be truly convenient, but again we use the laptop to show photos. Overall quite happy with this Mintek.

      1 out of 5 stars I would give this a negative 5 if I could.......2007-01-18

This is the worst waste of money I ever spent. I bought it for my 10-year old, thinking it would be a fun camera and I would spend less money developing the tons of silly pictures that kids take. It eats batteries like there is no tomorrow. You can take only about of dozen photos before the batteries are used up. I've spent a fortune on batteries and even tried rechargeable batteries. Even when the camera is not being used, the the batteries die in about 24 hours. On top of all of that, indoor pictures are the worst quality I have EVER seen -- grainy & washed out colors, and if you use a flash, everything is way overexposed & white. TOTALLY WORTHLESS piece of garbage. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!

1 out of 5 stars Looking for a low end digital camera - this is too low.......2006-08-03

Spend twice as much on a digital camera, and you'll probably get ten times the value - steer clear of this cheapo camera.

      haha..so i bought..*cough cough stole* this thing..
with usb.cd.and instructions and still it blowed...really bad..i feels orry for your nimrods who actually paid for it..haha

2 out of 5 stars Same problems as the others..........2006-05-12

I bought this back in February at Wal-Mart for about $60. I had not researched it, but my Logitech QuickCam settings display died and I wanted a new camera. This one was an upgrade as it has a color LCD display with photo preview. My old camera only displayed system options. A flash was also necessary.

I thought this camera was sucking battery power more than it should. It doesn't matter what kind of batteries I use - standard Energizer alkaline, rechargables specifically for digital cameras, whatever... I put them in (because everytime I go to use the camera, they're dead after I just put new ones or freshly charged ones in last time I used it a week before) - I take about 10 pix, w/flash, download them to my computer (since I kept losing the pix I left after use) - which takes power too because you have to turn the camera on even when it's connected to the computer - and make sure it's off when I'm done. Then a week later it's dead when I go to use it! So you have to set the date every time you use it (if you want the date on your photos), and as all the others say, if you don't download the pix immediately, they are lost when the batteries die (it does say this in the manual). I just bought a SD card so that the pix would remain, but honestly, if this camera wouldn't suck batteries WHEN OFF an external card shouldn't be necessary.

Again as others have mentioned, in a dark room, you can't see the object you wish to photograph in the LCD display. It seems to come out OK with the flash in the actual photo, but many photos with flash are just totally out of balance. My orange cat comes out white! Yes there are options, but unless you know how to use them, they are useless - and you would have to take the picture again after changing the settings - which uses the ever-depleting batteries. After about 10 photos with flash, the batteries are 1/2 dead and it won't let you use the flash anymore. I don't even take high-resolution or high-quality photos.

Also - another reviewer stated he was having problems getting the SD card out - you can't just pull it out. Hold the camera with the bottom up and the SD card on the left side - the finger dip should be towards you - and use your thumbnail to push it in and it should pop out. It's a push-in pop-out spring system. If it doesn't pop out right away, just practice and it should loosen up, mine did.

I recommend you wait until you can save up some extra cash for a better camera. And always research before you buy.

3 out of 5 stars decent for the money.......2006-04-06

i bought this camera at walmart for $60 roughly 9 months ago.
it was a step up from my last camera because it had a lcd, flash, and higher res. on the downside it doesn't have a microphone. it does not take very good photos in low lighting conditions and the flash is too powerful for most instances
i'd include a picture but they are all on my other computer
i wouldn't recommend this camera for anything indoors or anything short of broad daylight. also the flash uses up most of the batteries and the 3 AAAs don't last very long (get rechargeables) the only use i can see for this camera is pictures on bicycle rides or walks during the day otherwise it is quite useless. the main thing that really turned me away was that it (or at least mine) had little gray stripes accross the image and a lack of saturation of color. i sent it back to get the screen fixed (at least the tech support is decent) and i am thinking of getting a kodak c330 and selling it here.

                Product Description

The new KX-TG2553 is part of Panasonic's fourth generation of "GigaRange" 2.4GHz cordless phones, and the second generation of "Extreme" phones. It is shock and splash-resistant like the earlier models, and has a number of improvements. The phone base features the "Diversity" antenna system. This technology, used for wireless microphones in concerts as well as in mobile radio equipment, incorporates two antennas mounted in different locations. With two antennas, there is a better chance that one will receive a clear signal. A circuit inside the phone base automatically chooses the better signal, so you get the best communication possible. Caller ID with Call Waiting can display the caller's name and phone number on the illuminated three-line LCD screen on the handset, even if you are currently on a call when a second call comes in. To access the stored Caller ID information, you can use the "navigator" key located on the handset. This multi-function button allows you to easily scroll up and down through the Caller ID log for the caller's information, viewable on the handset's LCD. Also viewable via the handset display is a 50-name and number Caller ID memory with dialer for later review and instant callback. You can talk handsfree while wandering around by plugging a headset into the 2.5mm jack on the portable handset, and clipping the handset to your belt or putting it in your pocket.

                Amazon.com Product Description

Offering clear connections, excellent range, and minimal static, the Panasonic KXTG2553 gives you plenty of room to roam while on the phone. The 2.4 GHz operation provides far more power than older 900 Hz models, and Panasonic's Digital Spectrum Spreading technology makes your calls less subject to eavesdropping by automatically shifting frequencies every second.

The handset has an attached belt clip, giving you the option of attaching a headset for comfortable hands-free operation. A three-line lighted LCD displays up to 50 entries for both caller ID and a custom phone directory. You can expect as many as 4.5 hours of talk time before needing to recharge the battery. Panasonic includes a one-year warranty on parts and service.

2 out of 5 stars This would be the perfect phone if the battery lasted..........2003-11-13

My only complaint is that the battery life is very short. We even replaced the battery. The new battery was strong for one day & then reverted to the incredibally short life of the first battery.

This is my second Panasonic 2.4 gig phone & both phones had the same problem. The battery life problems started after the return period. I didn't look into warranty repairs as I hobbled along on the week battery of both phones & made sure to charge at all times except when in use.

When straight out of the cradle I can have as long as one single 1-hour phone call - but with any additional calls, the battery drops the call. It can barely sit out of the charger for one evening (after work & until bed) It absolutely can not sit out over night.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Cordless We Have Had.......2003-05-29

After several inexpensive cordless phones went by the wayside, I went back to Panasonic, the one phone that has always lasted. I guess I wanted to try the cheaper phones to see if there was a difference, and the answer is a definitive yes!

My favorite feature is the caller ID and message lights that lets me see someone has called without picking up the phone. (We have voicemail through the phone company, so previously we had to pick up the phone to know someone had called.)

We have dropped it several times and have no problems to report. My husband and I both love this phone. This is my first time writing a review and the first product I have felt warranted my time. Past reviews helped me find this phone in the first place, so I figured it was time to give back!

4 out of 5 stars A Review After Two Years of Everyday Family Use.......2003-03-27

We've owned the Panasonic KX-TG2553B 2.4GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Black) for two years.
The phone has just enough useful features to make it a good choice for home / small business equipment. It has Caller ID (you need to subscribe, of course), redial, memory of calls received, a "phone book directory" for frequently called numbers, volume control, and the usual features. It also has some features I don't use regularly and forget. One feature it also has and I use ALOT is the hanset finder. You press a button on the base and the handset actually beeps long enough to locate the handset. Some brands tend to beep 5 or 6 times and then stop.
We have a phone company messaging service, so didn't want a phone / answering machine combination.
Most phones on the market seem to have too FEW OR too MANY features. The Panasonic seemed to be as close to perfect in that regard as we could find.
The base takes up little room on our bedroom chest of drawers. The base itself doesn't ring so it is not a nuisance to put in the bedroom. The antenna on the base both pivot for better reception. After two years I can attest that the whole phone is quite durable. The handset has logically placed rubber "bump" pads (on edges and corners) to lessen damage from being dropped
The handset is small and convenient to carry around. But also tends to get misplaced (at least in our house). The read out for incoming calls is backlit and in SOME low lighting situations, very hard to read. That could be somewhat caused by my eyesight, my wife doesn't seem to have a problem. There is a toggle button to navigate through various functions and the menu is convenient and LOGICAL. The number buttons are lit when in use and easy to see and use. The "redial" button is very small, located near the bottom right of the face of the handset.
The antenna on the handset is fixed and quite durable, but seems to have attracted attention as a chew toy from either our son (when he was of teething age), or a pet.

During the two years we've used the phone, we've noticed variable amounts of reception interference. But not any more than several other brands of cordless phones. We have owned and used the product at two different locations (homes) with lots of electronic equipment. The one that has caused the most reception problems has been a electronically controlled ceiling fan in the living room. We have to turn the fan off to use the phone or leave the room. I do suggest experimenting with placing the base in different locations for best reception. It has made a difference. It may speak well (pardon the pun) of the Panasonic that it is still in use while the other brands are gone and been replaced.

We still have the original battery pack in our phone a talk time has definitely decreased between recharging. The display holds any calls that have come in and makes the handset lights blink, which drains the battery quickly.
There seems to be a personal preference factor with regards to size and weight of cordless phone handsets. My wife prefers the full size handset of another brand of cordless phone if she is to be on the phone for any length of time. I prefer the Panasonic compact headset. I'd suggest checking out a few different phones and brands before purchasing.

We checked quite a few brands a liked the Panasonic KX-TG2553B 2.4GHz DSS Cordless Phone with Caller ID (Black).
After two years, I can say we are happy with our purchase.

1 out of 5 stars Looks nice, but disappointing.......2003-01-15

Like several other reviewers, I had severe problems with my phone shortly after purchasing it. Most severely, my phone became incapable of recognizing the base unit, despite my repeated attempts to reprogram the handset to fix the problem. On top of this, I returned the phone I originally purchased and had exactly the same problem with its replacement. I wound up buying another phone to be rid of the problem.

1 out of 5 stars Works Great --- For the first few weeks.......2003-01-07

When we first got this phone, it was wonderful! It worked fine - had great range, great sound etc. However, after the first month or so - it started having problems. It would say "out of range" even though you were standing right next to the base. Customer service gave some tips but these didn't really work. Ended up returning and getting a replacement (it was still under warranty). The new phone does the exact same thing. Now, the phone does not work at all. Several friends that have the same phone have also experienced this problem and others. I would not recommend this phone.
