Rechargeable battery for Talkabout.......2004-02-07
These are getting hard to find but they work really well. We have use 280 and 289 batteries for years on the farm. Only trouble is when they are outside in the cold and lose power more quickly. Once warmed up they work well.
Lasts all day on the ski slope!.......2000-03-08
I charge up the battery in the cabin overnight. I turn the radio on during the caravan drive to the mountain, ski all day with the earbud, and leave it on until we arrive back at the cabin. I have only seen it get below half charge once!

Rechargable batteries are a must.......2000-11-26
This is the coolest radio I have ever gotten. In fact I have 2. The design, durability & performance of this Motorola are unmatched. The NiCad battery allows you recharge it as a cellular & it lasts long enough for one full day out in the woods or where ever you are. Plus you don't have to keep buying new batteries for it.
I play paintball in the woods with friends a lot and started off with the 250s. I like these even more. You can easily get 2 miles of coverage in the woods between friends with these. If you plan on using these in the woods I would recommend using an earbud and mic or the headset with boom mic to allow the VOX system to operate more effectively. With the limitations of the paintball mask I can only use the earbud with mic. We even plan on using these during hunting season this year, but that is another story.

The best FRS radios I had!!!.......2002-03-29
When I first bought these at [local store], there were [money], and it included a [money] mail in rebate! I didn't mail in the rebate, because I wanted to test them out, first. The next Friday, my Law Enforcement group had an event that required radios. I just bought these, so I bring them along, not expecting any one to bring enough for the whole group. Well, someone did, and when he saw my radio, he was shocked. First of all, he said that mines' was "top of the line", and it was expensive. I just told him that I bought it from a shopping center, Secondly, his 4 radios costed more than what it would cost me less if I bought mines' in bulk. So, he just continually commented on my radio, and he got so jealous that he was about to exchange his radios for mine, but to bad for him, the radio I bought just went out of stock. So, I still have the T289 till this day, making it 5 months today, since I bought them. The only problem is that my light doesn't work, and that is getting annoying. But, overall, I love this radio, and I am willing to sell my other pair of radios to get this. :)
Stay in touch...the cheap way.......2001-11-09
I bought 2 of these units, with 4 more backordered. This has been a great unit for staying in contact while shopping, hiking, driving, etc. The kids love it, and the belt attachment makes it easy to hook on a handbag strap, belt, etc.
The difficulty I have with it is with the VOX mode. You have to make a sound before it activates. If you don't, you lose the first few words before it kicks in.
I have the nicad, rechargeable unit. I like it because it saves on battery purchases.
All in all, I would recommend this unit.
Slim and sleek.......2001-08-25
I love these little radios. We tested them in the car (one stayed in a wooded park while the other drove around town). Estimated 3 miles before we hit even the smallest amount of static. The only thing I would recommend is a handsfree headset so you can ride bikes, etc without having to hold anything. I read the other reviews before buying mine and they had a great influence. All are true except the pesky annoyance everyone talks about with the "push to talk" button. I personally can't find anything wrong with it. I just hold it differently. The microphone where you talk into is NOT located directly below the button, but off to the side, almost on the edge of the radio. The only weight of these little buggers is from the three AA. Basically, put three AA batteries in your hand and that is a simulation of what these radios feel like. I can't wait to try them skiing and hiking. We have played like kids on them for over a week now and haven't gotten tired of them. I would buy them all over again if I had to. Definately worth buying- don't look any where else (believe me I looked and looked)
Great for skiing and more.......2001-06-05
I mainly use these on the ski slope, where they have been a blessing. No longer do you have to coordinate times and meeting locations with other people. The reception is pretty good, though it varies widely depending on the terrain and weather. At large ski resorts I have been able to clearly talk to other people on completely different peaks. Not surprisingly, when someone goes behind a ridge reception drops to almost nothing. Also, the small size of the radios allows them to fit comfortably in a jacket pocket.
Personally, I don't think rechargeable batteries are necessary. I usually get almost an entire ski season out of one sec of batteries per radio so I don't think recharegeables are worth the extra money/hassle.
The only problem I've come across is the usability of some of the buttons. When you are wearning large ski gloves, the "Talk" button is the only one you can easily operate. All of the other buttons usually require the removal of a gloval. Luckily, you rarely need to touch the other buttons once the radio is on and everything is set.
Great little radios.......2001-02-22
I've just bought two of these radios and find them just great. I use them in the badlands area of Alberta, hiking and rafting. They are very clear under the 2 miles. I really like the battery pack, it lasts the whole day on standbye, can get about a dozen or so calls out of it. The only thing I don't like is they don't seem very sturdy. I think if one was dropped it would break easily so I deducted a star for this.

Customer Reviews:
Best battery.......2001-01-17
You can't beat the Motorola battery. Here's why: It's a 4.5v battery, whereas AA size NiMH batteries are 1.2v, providing only 3.6v total. Using NiMH AA batteries will only give you 1 or 2 bars of battery strength and run out after just a few calls. Alkaline AA are great, but you'll throw them away every 6-8 hours. The Motorola NiMH delivers the full 4.5v necessary and lasts a whole day. Definitely worth the price.
This can be done a lot cheaper.......2000-03-10
Instead of purchasing the conversion kit and a spare battery(total of $80) you would be better off sticking with the AA versionand of the radio, and blowing $30 to $40 on a NiMh charger and eight batteries. This combination gives you over 30 hrs of operation on three AA size NiMh batteries vs. only 11 hrs with the Motorola kit. This way you will also have rechargable AA batteries available for flashlights, cameras, games, toys, etc...

I like this camera.......2004-02-24
I purchased this camera to create memories of my new born baby. The camera is reasonably priced, easy to use and even easier to download to the computer. It's a great deal for the price.
I would advise anyone buying this camera to buy the memory card at the same time, however, since there is only 8MB of existing memory.
Why we got these terrible reviews?.......2004-01-19
The former reviews are simple terrible. I suppose that they were
'made' by samsung as well?
Digimax 101.......2003-10-15
It's a very nice and very pleasant to use. I use my everyday. But I am looking for a USB cable for mine, I lost it somewhere in this house and can't seem to find it. If they would just come up with a way so people can always find that cable, it wouldn't be so bad. Yes I am a blonde. I loose everything. It is a very nice little camera, especailly since I have small hands.
