This camera takes excellent pictures. It has a wide range of settings that allows you to take a picture under any conditions. The quality of the photos can be used in the graphic industry. An excellent choice for beginners, you just have to be willing to experiment with the settings until you learn what works best in different lighting and backgrounds. Hey, you can always delete what isn't good and try again. Glad that I own this camera!

This camera will not satisfy even a beginner. The 640 x 480 output quality is subpar and its very difficult to get a good shot. They always come out either too dark or too light. As with all digital cameras, they tend to eat batteries and this one is no exception. Pop in a few alkalines and you will find after a few photos using the flash they are dead and pretty darn hot. Invest in some high quality NiMH AA cells and a charger. They have double the capacity of alkalines, are cheaper, and can be recharged 1000 times. Its a dirty little secret of the battery industry that they want you to buy alkalines, not NiMH.
Anyway back to the camera. The compactflash card slot allows for memory expansion but why bother, you would just store 200 bad pictures rather than 20 bad pictures.
The PC software that comes with the camera works fine, although transferring pix is surprisingly slow considering the very low resolution.
I would just avoid this camera entirely. You don't get adequate pictures from any camera until you get up into the 1.0 mpixel range. 256k pixels is just not enough.
Mustek VDC-300.......1999-12-24
Very easy to use and set up with my Win98 was easy. Pictures in the high resolution are adequate for internet use. Software for editing is basic, but I set up my editing options with my Paint Ship Pro and it worked great. Price is reasonable but be aware that this is a discontinued item with the manufacture. One year warrenty though, so a good first basic digital camera.
Mustek VDC300 Is a Good Camera.......1999-12-07
The VDC300 is a good basic camera and a good choice for novices to digital cameras.
We had it up and running within minutes of taking it out of the box.
I have read some of the other criticims and did not encounter the same problems with my camera. The flash works fine. I got great closeups of both people and animals without red-eye problems.
You have to adjust the lighting conditions on the LCD menu and with the lens depending on the conditions you encounter. It is NOT an autofocus -- unless you chose that setting. Reading the directions and taking time to fully mess around with the device are advised.
Works great for taking indoor and landscape photos.
We had a blast connecting the camera up to our vcr and into the video feed on the TV and looking at pictures, etc. I really want to buy something like a Sony Mavica which is tons more expensive than this little baby, but I couldn't afford one -- mainly because the Sony models take floppy disks so you don't have to hassle with compact flashcards, USB connectors, etc.
Much to my surprise, the USB serial connector is a snap to use, retrieving images is easy and even the low resolution images can be used to make fantastic things in Photoshop and other picture editing software.

The camera is your basic low end camera.
It doesn't work at all on closeups in low light.
It's best for daylight indoors/outdoors and/or pictures of things 5 feet away.
Software is basic but easy to use.

Fuji Discovery 90.......2000-05-21
This inexpensive point-and-shoot camera takes great pictures and is convenient to pack on trips. It's easy to load and runs on 2 AA batteries. The data option can be toggled on or off. The red-eye reduction feature isn't perfect, but the flash is adequate for work within 10-15 feet. The macro feature requires some practice to use effectively. Backlighting can be a problem, but generally speaking this camera is a great value and worth considering for good snapshots.

A modest, but Amazing mp3 player........2004-12-26
This nifty little device kicks arse'. Well mine (128mb) can hold up to about 30-35 tracks. More than enough to pass the time on everyday tasks. The player itself is well built, with a heavy,solid, metalic, feel to it. The necklace style headphones are just awesome because you can just let this bad-boy hang around your neck while the jams crank out. The only dissapointment was that the headphones didn't look like the headphones that are pictured--but these are nice anyway. No belt clip or strap of any sort so that means you MUST take care of the headphones! Or else you'll end up having to pocket it rather than hanging around your neck. Sound is great and loud. I could leave my headphones hanging around my neck and still hear the song quite well at max volume. The interface for this device on my current OS (Windows XP) is simple. XP recognizes it almost immediately as a 'Mass Storage Device' and you just have to click and drag MP3 files into the player, bear in mind that you have to convert your wma files in MP3 format prior to doing that. No worries though, I found that Real Player seems to be more compatible with it rather than Windows Media, but none the less still works just fine. Real Player just has a built in converter that'll automatically convert tracks for you. In fact Real Player opened by default the first time I plugged it in the USB port. You have to take of your headphones and USB cable because I don't see how you can find replacements by any other means but through the manufacturer. I was a bit puzzled about a cd rom that was included with the package that configured older comps for the player, it was a small disc about the size of a nintendo gamecube game, didn't bother putting that in my drive. Battery life is about 8-9 hours. and the buttons are obscure but efficient and fashionable. Basic and simple and trendy, this thing is worth your one thousand pennies.
Nice little device.......2004-09-08
It was a bit larger than I expected, but it's still a small package. It seems to be well made and cleanly designed. Well worth the money.
It has one jack for everything (head phones and USB) and charges using power from the USB connection. (You have to have it pluged into your computer for it to charge.) The manual says it chargers in 150 minutes, but I think it charged a little faster than that.
The head phones are cloth lined where they touch your neck. I wish the adjustment on the head phones would allow the device to hang a little higher, but it is other wise well designed. The plastic thing that supports the device on the head phones feels secure and is easy to use. It does not fit on the device when using the USB cable, however.
I'm using the player under Linux, so I can't talk about the Windows softare, but under Linux it appears to be a SCSI mass storage device, so you conviently just copy the files to the player. It worked very cleanly.
It has 4 buttons, vol+, vol-, prev and next/play(on)/stop(off). The limited buttons don't hamper the usablity of the device, however. It's intuitive to use and efficent. The biggest draw back is it makes an annoying beeping sound whenever you use the rew or ff buttons.
It has no real play modes, just the ablity to advance through the tracks in alphabetical order. It will start exactly (mid-song even) where you left off when you power it up again.
For all it's minor faults, I'm so far quite happy with it. If you're looking for a small, simple, sleak device, this is a good buy.
Won't use standard headphones.............2004-06-02
The price was right I went ahead and bought one of these since they are the smallest mp3 player on the market to the best of my knowledge. Mixed bag, some good, some bad.
- Biggest complaint is it doesn't accept standard headphones. Uses a mini-jack instead. To make matters worse they don't supply a stereo adapter with the player so I had to buy one at R@dioSh@ck and the adapter is nearly as big as the player. That sux. The whole reason for getting the player was because of it's small size and now I have to use a stupid adapter to use the headphones I want to use. MAJOR design flaw.
- It works great with XP, no drivers or software needed. Just drag and drop, as all mp3 players should be.
- Audio quality sounds good, but all mp3 players(and ESPECIALLY flash based mp3 players) should support .wma format. Small wma files sound so much better than small mp3 files.
Overall I'd probably discourage my friends from purchasing the player because of the whole headphones issue. Not many people are going to like the supplied headphones/necklace so it's a big issue. Too bad because it is smaller/lighter than anything else on the market but the fractions of an inch to accept standard headphones would have made all the difference.

People can't hear me.......2006-12-11
I got this about a year ago. People complain they can't hear me unless I talk really loud. The other phone in our house (also a panasonic, but a kx-tg2258s) didn't have this problem, but it just died and displays an 'e3' error code. I am finished buying panasonic phones, and for other products I buy, I will consider other brands first.
Usually like Panasonic... but not this one........2006-09-01
Bought this phone a few months ago to replace old cordless Panasonic 2.4 GHz that died. This is probably the worst phone I've ever owned.
Several reasons:
1) The range is WORSE than the 2.4 GHz I had! I used to be able to get great reception in every room of my large one-level home and in my big yard. Now I can only venture about 3/4 of the distance I could before... and then the connection starts to break up. And I've given up taking it outside.
2) The "voice enhancer" is useless. It doesn't work. The sound is worse than just leaving it in normal mode.
3) Love the speaker-phone feature in the handset, but it doesn't work when you have it sitting in the recharger/base. (Dumb!) It'd be nice when the battery gets really low to be able to use the speaker phone while it charges. But nope... if you run out of charge, the phone is useless until it recharges again.
4) I still can't figure out the phone's weird caller-ID inconsistency. Sometimes it doesn't register incoming calls at all... and worse, it doesn't register all missed calls so I can contact people who may not have left a message. And instead of listing each ID in the order it came in, especially duplicate callers, it'll just put a check mark by a recently called entry... so you know that person called more than once, but you don't know when. Yeah, if people leave messages every time they call, this wouldn't be a problem... but you know they don't.
I'm usually not hard to please, but I'm looking now to replace this phone that is fairly new.

Reception is further improved by Panasonic's Voice Enhancer circuitry, which helps clarify and improve reception by producing an easy-to-hear, natural-sounding voice, making the handsets sound crisp and intelligible even at a distance from the base. Plus, 5.8 GHz frequencies won't interfere with wireless computer networks such as 802.11b or 802.11g Wi-Fi.
Another nice feature is the caller ID/call waiting combo (subscription required). Caller ID lets you see who's calling before you answer the phone, while call waiting lets you know when another call is coming in. By combining the two, however, users will learn who's calling even when they're currently in the middle of a conversation with someone else. When you hear the beep, simply look at the handset's LCD display to identify the name and number. It's especially convenient when you're waiting for an important call but still have other calls to make.
The handset speakerphone, meanwhile, is a plus when dealing with automated phone systems. You can turn on the speakerphone, put down the handset while watching TV or typing, and then pick it back up when a voice finally responds. It's far more convenient than trudging all the way to the base unit to activate the speakerphone. There are lots of other uses as well, such as putting the whole family on the phone to talk to grandma or grandpa, or conducting a business call with several folks in the room.
Households with kids will delight in the light-up antenna. When it's time to put the kids to sleep, simply turn off the phone's ringer. When someone is calling, the base of the antenna will flash so you'll know the phone is ringing. The antenna will also light up when someone leaves a message on voicemail (subscription required). Users can select from blue, green, amber, or multicolor antenna lights, while subscribers to Light-Up ID can link the individual light colors to numbers in their preprogrammed phone books.
Additional features include a 50-call memory and speed dial directory accessible through the handset's three-line LCD display; three ringer patterns and four melody rings; a headset jack and belt clip for hands-free calling; a redial function that calls the last five numbers; and a handset locator. The phone, which is wall-mountable, measures 9.8 by 7.1 by 4.9 inches (W x H x D) and is backed by a 90-day warranty.

We needed to replace our cordless phone, so we searched the Internet, looking at all available units. So far this phone had been working out just fine for me. No interference with my Wi-Fi system. Good sound quality and good range in my house. I do recommend this phone if you're looking for a cordless phone. I didn't even realize I had bought a remanufactured phone until I was doing this review.
