Excellent binoculars! Found them difficult to use while wearing glasses. Constantly had trouble seeing to separate fields, unless I took my glasses off. Brightness and clarity is great.

Wow... excellent optics, clarity is superb and field of view is fabulous. The only thing left is the wonderful ergonomically shaped body that fits in your hand like a glove. The Nikon Action 10X50 is a truly extreme and rugged binocular that you can be proud of for a very long time. And, all of this for a very good price.

I bought the Nikon Action 10x50 binoculars to replace an old "no name brand" pair my father gave me 30 years ago. I didn't use the old ones regularly until we moved to the Gulf coast. The old binoculars were in sad shape so I ordered the Nikon. Wow was I surprised. Bright, clear view, true color, I didn't know binoculars could work so well. The EX Extreme is easy to focus, easy to adjust and light enough to carry around all day. The case that comes with them doesn't provide much protection I'll be looking for something better for travel. I'm looking forward to taking them on my next sailing trip.

Bird Watching in Hawaii.......2007-09-21

I have owned a pair of these binoculars for years. This new pair is for my husband who has always said that MY binocs were so much BETTER than his. For catching Hawaii's red i`iwi and apapane (native birds)in the koa forests, these cannot be beat. For scanning the hillsides for sheep on Mauna Loa or elk in the Rocky Mountains, these are the best. These binoculars bring details alive in the landscape that you will totally miss out on otherwise. Long live inventions that really help!

Excellent celestial binoculars for the price. The view is generally quite good, the device is not exceedingly heavy and they are rugged. This is an inexpensive pair of binoculars perfect for casual celestial viewing. The distortion of at the perimeter of the field of view becomes more apparent after usign them for a couple of hours, but overall the quality of viewing is good.

I purchased this product as last year's Christmas surplus at a very good price, but even at the list price it is a worthwhile buy.

Image quality for most average uses is excellent (you would invest in something much more expensive if you were a serious hobbyist). The advantage of this pair is that it is well made, and serves the purpose over a range of multiple uses (backyard birding, airplane spotting, landscapes, etc). And at the price point, if the kids drop it into the water, not a huge loss.

The unit is made well with excellent fit and finish, worthy of the Nikon name. I would recommend unhesitatingly for family use.

Great all purpose binocs.......2003-12-09

Purchased this item on sale and with the mail in rebate will come out to a bargain.

Images are sharp and clear (esp for night viewing) thanks to the 50mm objectives and the multicoated optics.

I use this item primarily for astronomy. However have to hold it quite still because the 10X power exagerates little shakes. Will get a tripod at a later date.

Far superior to the Tasco binocs I had before this one

I bought a pair of these one day before leaving on vacation to New Mexico to replace my Tasco 7X35 cheapos. Very pleased with the brightness, FOV, and overall feel of the binocular. Being Nikon, the optics are wonderful and offer excellent viewing for birdwatching and stargazing. Waterproofness would be a nice feature to have but not mandatory for these activities. Overall, they earn five stars in my opinion.

We had another brand we used until we borrowed this style at the races one day. Had to buy our own. Gave the others away. Paid twice the price, but worth every penny.

Decent, reasonably priced binocular.......2002-03-01

While not competing in the same class as Steiners, Leicas or Svarowskis, this is a decent basic binocular. The surface material is pleasant to the touch, and all the controls are easy to operate. The binoculars feel robust and there is no play, the finish and workmanship is excellent. For the price class these binoculars are reasonably bright and the image quality is good all around, though not excellent. They may even be used with eyeglasses on, having good eye relief and exit pupils. They are not weatherproof, nor do they have locking diopter adjustments or hard, sliding eyecups that one gets in pricier models.

Are you stuck on Windows NT too?.......2001-09-07

As you may have learned the hard way, Windows NT does not support USB regardless of whether your computer has it or not. Not one single store in my local area (Orange County, CA) carries a parallel port compact flash card reader (they've all joined the 21st century with USB). I bought the Scan Disc model and love it. In fact, I just purchased two more for my coworkers that are constantly bugging me to use the compact flash card reader to retrieve their photos. From other reviews I can see that the Scan Disc is superior to the Kodak model. I have no complaints; it's easy to hook-up and it works just fine. If you're aware of what a compact flash card reader is then there's probably no need to tell you how much easier it is to use vs. the archaic software that comes with most cameras. Although, the software does give you thumbnail image views making digging up old photos much easier.

Windows 95 Customers Beware!.......2001-08-12

If you have Windows 95, do NOT purchase this item. Despite what they say, this card reader is NOT compatible with Windows 95 and will cause the system to crash repeatedly. I spent hours installing, uninstalling and re-installing both the hardware and the software -- to no avail. Besides the Windows 95 problem, the parallel cable included with the card reader also caused my printer to malfunction -- the reason according to my printer: the cable "does not support bi-directional communication". This whole experience was one big nightmare....the only bright spot is that Amazon's return procedure is much less painless than I expected -- I am returning the SanDisk Imagemate Card Reader today!

I recently received a wonderful gift of a Kodak DX3500 digital camera, with the Loading Dock that connects it to a PC. My initial elation evaporated as I discovered that the Dock-to-PC connection requires a USB connection. The Toshiba Tecra 8100 laptop I'm using has a USB port, but it's taped over because NT 4.0 doesn't support USB (Win2000 and 98 do). I turned to look for a device that would read the camera's CompactFlash card, but didn't need USB to connect. After some scouring of the web (including a comical dead end involving "tech" reps who couldn't provide answers to compatibility questions beyond reading from the company same web page I was already looking at, and a more technical rep who informed me that the item was no longer available from the mfr. and agreed that it probably should be removed from that e-tailer's web page), I found the SanDisk ImageMate External Parallel CF Card Reader. This device provided what I needed: a CompactFlash card reader with a non-USB connection to a machine running NT 4.0.

The setup was painless. The ImageMate plugs into the parallel port, with a passthrough connection for the printer. Power is drawn from a passthrough connection to the PS/2, into which the mouse cable connector fits.

The ImageMate software makes the device appear as a mapped drive. You can read, write, and delete picture files on this drive. A provided software utility swaps out the ImageMate (to let you safely removed the picture card).

We installed the Kodak Loading Dock on a Win98 USB machine, and it works just great. But transfer on the ImageMate is almost as fast and easy.

I've been verbose in this review for the sake of others running the web search I did. You've probably come to the only right place. (I didn't find any other easily acceptable connection devices.)
