Following in the tradition of the popular C-2000 Zoom, Olympus's C-2020 Zoom offers high-performance digital imaging in a compact, great-looking body.

The styling on the C-2020 is a sure winner. It looks like a miniature traditional SLR that fits in one hand, and its front grip makes it easy to hold. The C-2020's menu system is fairly easy to use, although you might have to refer to the manual to find out what the cryptic abbreviations, such as WB (white balance) and Q (quality setting) mean.

The C-2020 packs a powerful 3x zoom lens and offers an excellent resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels. (You can also set it for lower resolutions.) Its large half-inch CCD produces incredibly sharp, colorful pictures. While most settings use the JPEG format, this camera also has an uncompressed TIFF format for high-end, ultradetailed photo work. You can save your images on compact SmartMedia memory cards.

Olympus manages to marry high-end manual controls with more consumer-oriented, popular features in the C-2020. This digital camera offers superb creative control, featuring traditional aperture- and shutter-priority modes, as well as a full manual setting. The C-2020 shows both aperture and shutter speed on the display in all modes, as well as a quick-adjust exposure compensation--one of the most useful displays we've seen. This lets you change settings more quickly and easily than even a traditional SLR film camera will allow. The C-2020 also offers a macro setting for close-up work. It gives you a spot-metering option for tricky exposures as well; its advanced TTL matrix metering worked very well for most of our scene exposures. In addition, the C-2020 has a new black-and-white mode and a new movie mode, which lets you take up to 60 seconds of QuickTime video (without sound).

Overall, we were very pleased with the Olympus C-2020's performance--while it offers high-end creative control, it's also easy enough for a novice to use. Its compact size and great styling were big plusses as well. The only drawback we experienced was its tendency, as with all digital cameras, to drain batteries very quickly--we'd recommend investing in a set of rechargeable AAs.

Great Digital camea for most needs.......2004-04-30

This was my first digital camera, not long after release, but after much research. It has been EXTREMELY reliable under adverse conditions of hiking and high altitude as well as desert photography (there's dust when you don't know it)and European travel. (Customs agents are cruel to cameras in the UK.) It's far more logical to use than the 2 Olympus digitals that I've bought since and than my "N" brand digital SLR. THIS CAMERA IS A KEEPER!!

The best camera!.......2000-07-27

This camera is the best. I've been researching digital cameras for a few months and when I read the reviews on this camera (at cnet.com) I decided to buy one. I thought the camera would be huge but it's about the same size as my 35mm camera. The photo quality is great. You can hook it up to a tv and see which pics you want. I would buy a usb sandisk. For those who are complaining about the slow download times. the usb is about 80 times faster to download. This camera is easy to use. Just read the instructions and play around with it a little bit. You'll get the hang of it. Have fun.!!

At the time of this writing, the Olympus C2020Z is out of stock. No wonder! Although my first digital camera, I absolutely love it! I can only ditto all the great things that have already been said about it. Yes, the lens cap is a pain. Yes, the LCD viewer is impossible to use in sunlight. And, yes, some of the controls are cumbersome at first. But once you get the hang of it, the average photographer will find this camera both powerful and easy to use. With a recently purchased 64 MB media card, I was able to snap over three hundred 1024x768 and 1600x1200 pix during a five-day vacation to Washington, DC. And, I might add, the batteries stayed charged all day. I now have a stunning set of beautiful photos on my PC to document my trip. I can only look forward to more great moments with this camera.

Good Camera, read first........2000-06-26

Hi, if you're looking for a semi-professional camera to deliver excelent picture quality, the Olympus C-2020 won't dissapoint you. Although, there are some things you should know before getting to work. First of all, the transfer rate from the camera to the PC is extremely low, if the pictures are taken in HQ (High Quality) mode, a 32MB memory card can take up to 30 min. downloading your pictures; So you Have to get a floppy adapter for your memory card and even maybe get a second memory card to continue the good work. Don't buy it from Olympus, they stick their brand and charge you a lot of extra bucks. Second, you'll need extra battery's since the camera doesn't come with an AC adapter, and Olympus sells it for 50 bucks, so you'll have to manage acordingly. Battery life is O.K but i had to buy two sets of rechargeable batterys, and still i need an AC. And third, it doesn't even come with a protective camera case, which also costs 50 dollars! I would at least have expected to get this info before spending more than 600 on my C-2020. Never the less i think the camera gives outstanding image quality, and has worked pretty good until now.

After several weeks of research on 2 megapixel Digital Cameras,I narrowed my choices down to the Olympus C-2020 and the Nikon Coolpix 950.After reading how the Nikon goes through batteries and is much larger than the Olympus,the choice became very clear.The Olympus takes great pictures and is very easy to use.This camera was very well thought out,It really suprises me with things that it can do,especally take great pictures in low light with the flash turned off.I really like the picture review mode,it is like having a slide show.

Not Worth It.......2006-01-09

I purchased this product in Sept 2004. I should have done my homework before buying however. Denon products tend to have more problems than many other well-known products. This DVD player was no exception. Within the first year my CD's and DVD's began to skip. Furthermore, the price is way to high for the features you get in this DVD player. You can purchase a Sony or Panasonic DVD player with similar features that is just over a third the price of this Denon and with much more reliability. No more Denon's for me!

Consistently damages DVD.......2004-07-23

Plays adequately. Excellent sound reproduction (a feature it shares with many players.) The carousel however, consistently causes the discs inside to slide out of their position and to get caught above the rotating tray. This had resulted in catastrophic damage to many DVD's and makes the player useless as a CD changer. Additionally, to avoid damage I have had to load only 1 disc at a time and immediately remove it after viewing. Also, not quite as good at playing discs with light scratches. (the scratches it causes though are not light but very heavy usually).
