Great Camera.......2005-08-20

Full featured and easy to use, this camera takes fantastic images. As a provider of professional imaging services, we depend on our 3030s daily. They are still used after 4 years even though we have 8 megapixel DSLRs. The entire line of Olympus imaging products gets 5 stars from us.

Great camera...but.......2003-02-16

I love everything about this camera except I must say to use a tripod. This camera is just awful if you have a shaky hand. You can't take any "real time" shots.

What gives it a star less?.......2002-09-14

First, the bad things. Too much noise shooting under low light conditions. Also in low light conditions you'll find some green and white little points of light on the image.
The camera has an almost useless flash.
The good things: Video option is very useful. Output to see pictures and clips in TV's. Also you can use it if you want a larger view than the LCD display, just plug it to your TV, VCR etc. Great resolution for high quality printing.
If you have some experience in photography you'll find great all the manual options.

easy to use, good quality.......2002-03-28

I spent a lot of time researching digital cameras on the internet and found this one to be a good value. It's fairly compact, and it's lived up to its reputation. The Camedia software makes downloading the photos pretty easy. I just leave the cable hooked up to my computer and attach the camera when I need to download. No need for docking stations. As a digital camera neophite, I'm pleased with my purchase. I leave the 35mm camera at home now.

Who knew photography could be so fun?.......2002-03-11

I purchased this camera because I needed to be able to send Photos by E-Mail. I have been a 35mm photgrapher for 20 years, so I needed a camera that would allow me to be in control of my creations if I wanted to be. This camera suprised me with its excellence.
When all is said and done, all that you have is a lens and a subject, and, of course, the film plane. I was not disappointed by the range and versatility of the Olympus design. It even feels good in my hands!
I am very happy with this camera and hope to use it for many years to come.

Big sound, big weight.......2007-05-07

I have used the PMA-2000IVR in two different rooms -- one big and one a lot smaller -- and it was (is) great in both. It's hooked up to a pair of Vienna Acoustics Grand Haydn speakers, along with an REL Q108 E subwoofer and Denon's TU-1500 RD tuner. Since I went overboard with the system, I went overboard with the speaker and connecting wire -- Audio Quest Slate speaker wire and Diamondback connecting wire. I never thought speaker and connecting wire could make a difference. But the sound is amazing. The only negative is that the PMA-2000IVR is very, very heavy. I had to buy a Salamander shelf system to hold it securely. It's a great-sounding integrated amp I'd recommend to anyone.

Tube sound from solid state?.......2007-03-18

Sold my Jolida JD-801A tube amplifier, got the Denon PMA2000IVR as a
'loaner' from my local dealer. The surprising thing is that after about 100 hours of use, I really like the detail and solid bass control this amplifier has. On my Dali Mentor 6 speakers, the sound is really quite good. Who say's U can't teach an old dog new tricks. If music is a passion for you, and price a consideration, I highly recommend it!!

Wonderful piece of equipment.......2005-09-28

This unit has a wonderful sound! I power Sonus Faber Concerto speakers with it, and boy, the sound is warm, but not too much so. The power is there when you need it for those sudden, loud passages. I can't afford a real high end amplifier. But my Denon gives me the sound I was looking for! I just love it.

The Best Tablet by far.......2003-08-23

Pros: Stylish, long battery-life,good pen, good networking. I have hammered my unit to now for two months and that includes dropping it nearly two feet on concrete. t am very happy with it. A brilliant entry into Tablet computing.

Cons: It is a little slow but then I run an Access database, outlook, blue tooth connection with my mobile phone, and multi-megabyte PDF files simultaneously on the supplied RAM. This I will upgrade but not urgently. The keyboard is not the greatest but then I don't use it; but lets face it, there isn't the room for a bigger one, so whats the point in marking it down for it?

Good News Bad News.......2003-03-30

I am an Apple freak, I have about 4 different Macintosh systems and swore off anything Windows related. Since Apple hasnt made a Tablet Computer, I bought the Compaq TC1000 after much research. It is, without a doubt, one of the most clever computing platforms i have ever used. Heres the good:
1) Speech recognition: Its unreal, like magic. I was able to talk into my AOL instant messenger and *viola*! Not perfect, but neither is my typing!
2) Handwriting recognition: My handwriting is nearly illegible, no problem with the TC1000. Really impressive.
3) Lightweight and portable. So I get it home and start to play with it, when i realize that the keyboard detaches and it is literally half as bulky as i thought! It is way too cool, youve got to try it.
4) Powerful. Yeah, its fast and fun.
5) 802.11 included. And it works, even with my macintosh Airport setup...

Which brings me to the bad:
Though I can network with the Tablet, it keeps dropping the network like every 3 minutes. We are trying to figure it out with Compaq and Apple, I am not sure yet about how to fix it, im confident we will soon.

So thats that. I love it, and hope you will too...

Don't take chances just to save a little $.......2003-06-03

I bought one of these as a temporary "main" computer to replace my ancient PII 350mhz Gateway (which can still run Windows 2000 quite smoothly, albeit a bit slowly), until I could afford a better PC. I should've just waited a bit longer and skipped the middle step. Windows XP, reliable in the experience of most, failed several times and/or the hard drive failed several times. Tech support is not a toll-free number. Their advice was sketchy at best. I returned this thing within the 14 days I had to do so.

T1600 desktop.......2002-12-05

Just purchased the T1600 emachine desktop and I, like another reviewer have problems with my modem. I can get on AOL, but will loose it after one or two minutes. If I'm lucky, maybe 5 min. My two old computers have never had this problem. This new emachine is now only 3 days old.
I called their support department, which I think must be a long distance charge(?), and they act as if they are not aware of this apparent problem. I now have to decide if I'm taking it back to Costco's or work to correct the problem. It's a lot of computer for the money but it's not worth anything if it's not dependable. I understand Emachines are trying to improve their reputation, maybe I should have waited for that to happen. This is my third computer in 6 years and it's hard to believe that I have these problems right out of the box. Who has time for that?

Dude, I should have gotten a dell........2002-06-25

My parents bought a emachine from [local store]. I told them that I herd they were bad, even the guy at the cash register told us not to buy it, but my parents didn't listen. Right after we took it out of the box, I knew it was a mistake. The speakers were [bad], and upon coloser inspection I noticed that in comparason to the MHz it had Very little RAM, hard drive space, and it didn't have a good video card. It also had inconvenent speaker plug in locations. Some times the hard drive or the CD drive won't stop spining, and the fan is realy nosey. The modem is terible, I will dial up and before I can even type in a new URL it will disconect me. And now for some reason, when I try to type in login usernames, passwords, or registration things online it takes anywhere from 5-10 seconds for the cursor to move to the new box. When we bought it it had a big sticker on it saying "this computer is NEVER obsolete", [really], EVERY computer is going to be obsolet soner or later, and this one was obsolete before it even left the factory. They also have terible tech suport, each call cost [alot of money]. If you have any problems (which you WILL in about 2 months) you can send it in to Emachines, and the MIGHT send you a referbished one back, in about 2-6 months, and thats assuming that they actualy DO send it back, and if they get the right address. If the refubished computer gets to you, you will probably still have problems. Probablly because the main problem is theat its power sysem is junk, and its modem disconects by its self. If this isn't enough to convince you...

Holy Smoke.......2002-06-24

E-Machines has done a complete about-face with there new managment. now there are putting quality parts in them and making them upgradable. A Via Motherboard hosts a phoenix bios, 256 Mb of DDR ram, that leaves 2 pci slot open or 3 if you use the intergrated dsl hook up instead of the pci modem. The Samsung CD-RW is plenty fast for most needs and the only down fall is that the Western Digital 40Gb hard drive is 54000 rpm and not a higher performance 72000 rpm hard drive. this is all driven by a medium pwr 250W pwr supply. also one thing to note is that if you have a problem with the Conexnt modem you need to see if the you're using "Generic Softk56" driver, that is the only place i had trouble. I concider myself a power user and the 1600+ AMD chip and the T1600 has far pased my expectations

THIS IS A MUST BUY IF YOU'VE GOT [money] IN YOUR POCKET AND NEED A PERFORMANCE BOOST. I was unlikely to buy a emachine becuase of there past but the past is certainly in the past and the T1600 is well worth it.

All in ALL there are to many things to cover but if you buy this you WILL be pleased

Excellent value!.......2002-06-03

The computer was easy to set up and get started, and worked well well right out of the box... except (and this is my only major complaint) the modem.

The modem would connect fine, and then would disconnect for no apparent reason. It would only stay connected for up to 5 minutes, but often it was less than 30 seconds. Fortunately, one of the times when it stayed connected for a few minutes, BigFix was able to download a list of 'Fixlets' relevant to my computer, one of which was a BIOS update. The modem was not able to stay connected long enough to download the BIOS update so I had to download it using another computer. After the BIOS update, there were no more modem problems at all. The modem connects beautifully and stays connected.

After resolving that issue, I explored the other features and bundled software and was not disappointed by anything I saw. I am used to slow (2x) CD burners that require external software, so when I tried the CD burner on this machine, I was very impressed. I put in a blank CD and Windows XP popped up an explorer window for it. I dragged some files into it and clicked 'write to CD'. It was done in an amazingly short amount of time.

I also liked BigFix, which I mentioned briefly above. This is a program that goes out to the internet whenever you are connected and checks for updates or other issues relevant to the computer and gives links for more information and to download fixes.

Overall, this was an excellent buy for the money, and, other than the modem problem which has been completely resolved, has given me no problems.
