I needed to buy my mother a new camera. She hates digital and rarely gets on her computer. She prefers a film camera which are hard to come by. I did a lot of research on different models and Olympus has several for film. I compared several newer models to this older model and found that even though it was older than most, it still had more options and a lesser price than any other model. More options plus lesser money? I couldn't pass it up.

My mother received the camera and is so tickled with the options available. She said that it's really user-friendly. She's one of those people that are technically challenged and this camera has an excellent user manual that makes it idiot proof. My opinion is this - if you prefer the film cameras don't bother with any other brand and get the most bang for your buck by getting the Olympus Stylus 100.

I am so happy with my first roll of pictures - clear, and accurate to the detail. Simple to use and just enough options to create the best picture in all situations. Olympus Stylus 100 is highly recommended by me!

Disappointing experience.......2006-11-03

I bought the Stylus 100 specifically for my trip to China. It started "eating film" in the 4th roll. I was unable to take any more pictures in China until I finally came upon a disposable - not an easy find. The pictures I did get developed were lackluster, and I wish I could just start over with a different camera. Unfortunately, my only recourse it to have it repaired. I would not recommend this camera.

Small Wonder.......2006-04-15

I'm a great fan of the Olympus Stylus Zoom line. They're tough, lightweight cameras and the "clam shell" design allows one to slip them into a pocket or small bag without having to worry about foreign matter getting into the works.

I bought this model (100 Wide) two years ago and fell in love with it right away. Now I've just bought another in case Olympus decides to go all-digital and stops making them. The 28mm focal length captures almost 50% more width than 38mm which is standard in this class. And it zooms out to an impressive 100mm telephoto.

Another feature that Olympus has added in recent years (have they really been reading my letters?) is the ability to over-ride the automatic focus and set it at "infinity." This allows one to shoot scenery through a window without the automatic focus focusing on the window surface rather than on the subject beyond.

It has a full range of flash options and does a very good job with "available light" (no flash) providing an automatic exposure time up to 4 seconds. I've used this camera inside European cathedrals with no flash and captured details hundreds of feet away.

I purchased these to remain in contact with friends while on a trip to Mexico. They weren't very helpful. The biggest problem with these is the charge time; it takes 15 hours of charging for less than 8 hours of use. Reception was limited, which I suspect was related the units not the location. I will upgrade to a better set before my next vacation.

Workable radios.......2006-05-13

I have had these walkie talkies (Cobra PR 165-2 VP microTALK) for a couple months now. They work fairly well. Be aware that since this is a dual band radio you need to be careful what channel you transmit on if you don't have a license from the FCC. The manual tells which channels are FRS and which are GMRS.

These radios are small and easy to carry. They work well for kids to use in a limited area.

The range is closer to a half mile than the 6 miles they state. That's normal for FRS radios from what I hear. Near the end of the range the sound cuts in and out, and is hard to understand.

One problem: on one of the radios the push to talk button is sensitive, it just barely works and you have to hold it just right or it cuts in and out.

One irritation: you can't turn off the roger beep that gets sent after you talk, and it's really loud! If that doesn't bother you, these radios will work fine for you. If that's a problem, find a set that lets you turn the beep off.

don't buy this one!.......2006-04-04

my son got this 2 years ago when he was a year old. it was always on a shelf and controlled by an adult. the first one we had didn't work straight out of the box. we exchanged it for another one, but it hasn't worked all that great either. it played some cd's and not others (none of our cd's were damaged). the cd player finally just stopped working. looking for a new one that actually works.

We purchased this cd player for our child and the music quality was so apalling we had to return it - twice - thinking the first one was a fluke. That says a lot, as we didn't have high standards for the required sound quality (it's for a 21 month old). Our biggest issue was the static that played right along with the music.

We purchased this cd player for our son to listen to at night at bedtime. It appealed to us because it seemed to be built pretty tough and seemed to be un-cluttered and easy enough for a four year old to use. It never worked quite right. Most of the time it did not work at all. It finally just stopped working and Target exchanged it for us without any problem. After about six months, the replacement unit is now not working. This time I hope that Target will just refund us. Pass this one up.
