Customer Reviews:
Switching back to the new Panasonic version.......2006-10-23
After our old Panasonic system cordless handsets were no longer available, I was searching for a similar system - the only other one was the RCA - cordless, auto attendant & voice mail were a must but we didn't want to spend thousands on a box system! I purchased the RCA before knowing that Panasonic was coming out with an updated verion. I wish I had known - I would have waited! Like the other reviewer, we have had problems not being able to get a line - the only remedy we have found is the disconnect the power and remove the battery from the base. Sometimes, you have to de-register each cordless then re-register them. I also don't like the fact that a caller is transferred right back to the "operator" if they choose not to leave a message for the extension they rung.
Our customers also have a problem knowing the operator is 00 and not just 0. We only have 3 cordless set up with out system and had to use ext#11, 12 and 13 because when trying to use the single digit extensions, for some reason, it would just ring the operator.
We also don't like not being able to pick up on a call from any extension. My office is right near the "operator" and sometimes when she is gone, the phone will ring and I have to get up and go to her desk to answer it, but with the panasonic, I could have just picked up on that line from my extension. I guess not being able to pick up on any line could be a good thing in some office situations, though.
I do have to say it has excellent range quality! We were surprised that the cordless worked inside a restaurant that is about 3/4 of a block (walking distance) behind our business. I also like the voicemail feature that is password protected - but don't like that any extension can check any other extensions voice mail if they know their password. Transferring from a cordless or putting someone on hold isn't a one button task as I think it should be.
All in all, as soon as I can find one of the new Panasonic KX-TG4500 in stock, I am switching once again! If both systems could combine their features, I think you'd have the perfect, no wiring/installation needed, phone system!
Better than what previously was available........2006-10-16
The cordless handset always rings, which is better than another cordless 4 line phone I have used where the #1 button wouldn't work half the time. 2 things worth noting. 1) Once you conference a call with two other outside lines you cannot disconnect one person and still talk to the other. 2) after about 6 weeks line one became frozen and I can't call out on it. It will receive calls. I still have 3 other lines to dial out on so it hasn't been too bad. When I want to tranfer lines to a different phone however, I have to unplug it from the in jack for lines one & two in back of desk phone and put it in the single phone jack/plug in back of the phone Then I can tranfer the lines. But still for a cordless 4 line phone it is the absolute best I've used so far.
Nice in theory, but needs major improvements.......2006-08-24
We purchased this phone system for our small business. It has all the features we needed -- 4 lines, 17 mailboxes, auto attendant, etc. Set it up -- seemed to work great -- until the complaints started coming in. Seems that after auto-attendant directs a caller to a specific extension, another auto-attendant greeting plays that says "This extension is busy or unavailable. Dial another extension or press # to leave a message."
The message should say "The person you are trying to reach is on the phone or is unavailable. . . " This greeting sounds like the extension is unavailable.
If the caller presses pound, then the custom-recorded vmail greeting plays and all is well with the world. However, most people think the extension is "unavailable" and they dial "0" to reach the operator. Unfortunately, this system uses double-digit for all extensions, so the operator is "00". WHO WOULD KNOW TO PRESS "00"??! So, they go around in circles. One customer said they called me about 20 times and could never reach me. Another customer called my mobile phone and was very upset. My caller ID showed lots and lots of calls that we never received.
Bottom line: Our phone rang only one time all day today.
Also, there's no way to retrieve a call once it comes in. You have to wait until the call rings an extension and then the phone that rings must be answered. There's no way to answer it from another extension or from the base.
We sent it back, and we're considering a TalkSwitch system.

Customer Reviews:
Functional, with some annoyances.......2007-08-31
I purchased this phone to use for working from my home because it has two lines and speakerphone with a MUTE key. Surprisingly, I couldn't find many other phones that had the speakerphone and the MUTE key, so I'm somewhat stuck with this one.
It works. However, the sound is low and I'm often turning the volume all the way up to either hear the other party or for them to hear me. I'm not currently using a headset though I will start and I hope the sound problems don't get worse over the headset.
Also, I've noticed that there is no immediate disconnect when hanging up my phone which makes it VERY irritating when I'm getting another call right after hanging up. I can't answer, or it flips over to my 2nd line which is hooked up to my modem and I get an annoying recording from my modem in my ear when picking up the line. I've had to miss calls coming in on the first line because the phone doesn't hang up soon enough for me to pick up the call. If one of the $20 analog phones had a mute key, I'd be dumping this one.
Okay, not great.......2007-08-12
This phone is the second of two replacements for my last two duds, both of which lasted less than two years.
The ring tone is very antiseptic, and can't be changed. The volume is too low, and the keypad buttons seem flimsy.
But it's practically impossible to find a decent desk speaker-phone, and several other brands have done very badly by me, so I'm keeping this one for now.
If as and when serious problems develop, I'll update this review, but for now, the phone, though not perfect, will have to do.
Great phone for the price.......2007-07-25
I too don't understand why the poor reviews. I have been using this phone for two years now and it has great fidelity and convenient features. The reviewer who mentioned the drop outs on the speakerphone: I noticed that too, but it's background ambiant noise that causes it. When I'm using the speaker phone I also use the mute button for listening and then unmute if I need to talk.
I'm buying my second one as an entire cup of coffee just jumped out of my cup this morning and saturated the bottom of the phone, deactivating all the bottom buttons.
So word to the wise: Do not spill coffee on this phone!
Review of RCA 2 line speakerphone.......2007-07-25
Product works fine. Easy to dial missed calls feature. Only problem is the angle of the screen increasing glare making viewing somewhat problematic. The backlight should be brighter.
Radio Frequency Interference.......2007-06-08
I selected this phone because it had the features that we need for our business and because it clearly had more quality than the other phones on the market. However, when I set up the phone system, we started getting radio frequency interference (RFI). Essentially the handset cord acts as a radio antenna and we started picking up a local radio station. Imagine trying to have a business conversation while talking over hold music and you'll get the idea. After 3 calls, the tech support people admitted that RCA is aware of this RFI problem but doesn't know how to fix it. They told me that they couldn't correct the problem and to return the phones. Damn shame as this seems to be an otherwise excellent phone system. So beware if you have any radio station towers within a 5 mile radius.

Confirmation of Inferiority.......2007-06-16
Thanks to all you on this page. I have checked a number of other sites as well and found that this phone is universally panned. Poor base/cordless interaction, radio and other interference, poor durability. I bought 8 of these and have not opened one. I am going to save myself a lot of time and headache and return them on Monday. Thanks again for your helpful insight.
I should have believed other reviewers.......2007-01-21
But noooo, I went ahead and bought one of these for my home office. My biggest complaint is that if you're talking on line 1, and another call comes in on line 2, the answering machine does not answer it! It lets it just ring and ring. Unacceptable.
DO NOT BUY DOES NOT WORK.......2006-07-05
I was in charge of finding a phone system for our small office and settled on the RCA. We were unable to hear or be heard. This system was returned and a big waist of time. I do not know how this system could be acceptable to any user.
What a piece of trash.......2006-06-13
As usual, GE hides the fact that they are the real manufacturers. Wonder why that is... I bought this phone just over 3 months ago, and now it just quit working. The only thing that works, is the receiver... and I could haqve bought an $8 phone from the Dollar Store to do that.
Now that I know, GE AND RCA is off my list.
Not Worth the Cost.......2006-03-09
Purchased RCA Models #25415RE3 & #25414RE3 to use in a small office situation. These were replacements for the Panasonic KX-TG4000B system, which was barely out of warranty when a major malfunction occurred (that's another story). Bought the RCA phone system simply for the reason that we were in dire need of a replacement phone system and it advertised the features we needed. First problem encountered was that the User's Manual is in a CD format, and you must print out the PDF file to really use the manual. The manual leaves a lot to be desired in the ease of use area. The phones don't integrate nearly as easily as RCA would have you believe. The biggest problem we encountered, within 4 days of receiving the phones, is an RCA-acknowledged difficulty with how the 25415RE3 model in particular handles power outages. On the 4th day the phone system was in operation, we experienced a 3-hour power outage, which is not really uncommon in our area. It had taken me 3 days to fully program all the features of the phones as I wanted them, including manually entering 98 names and numbers in the directory. New batteries had been installed in the phone as instructed, and the phone functioned well enough during the power outage to continue business operations. However, as soon as the electric power was restored, the 25415RE phone started flashing an intermittent "Message Waiting Line 4" message on both the base set and the cordless unit, even though there were no messages in the mailbox, and despite the fact that the answering machine was programmed to not take messages on that line. Additionally, the base unit keeps flashing "Install New Batteries" even with the replacement of the batteries. The RCA website has absolutely no help information, despite attempts to search their FAQ section. I called the 800 help line, and after over 45 minutes on hold, was informed by the rep that this is a frequent problem with the phone. She did have a fix for the problem - which entailed totally unplugging the phone lines and AC adaptor, removing the batteries, and waiting 30 minutes. Then - wonders of wonders - the annoying "Message Waiting" will be gone - along with ALL of your programming and all 98 directory names and numbers. Sounded like a great fix to me. Additionally, we're currently experiencing a lot of problems with the sound quality, especially on the cordless handsets. All in all, not the quality I would expect for the price. Have no suggestions for someone in the market for something similar, other than to stay away from Panasonic and apparently RCA brands

Customer Reviews:
GE Edge Cordless.......2007-09-15
We've used VTech, Uniden, and AT&T cordless phones in the past and have been satisfied. The GE Edge is truly awful. The two cordless phones had extremely poor reception... we could barely hear calling in and out. The phone attached to the answering machine was the only good one but who wants to be tethered to the base?
Terrible product. We replaced it with a Uniden set.
Static!!.......2007-09-10
I bought this phone just last week and I have to say I am very disappointed. I have had cordless phones for a while now and this is the first one that I have had that is getting so much static, even though the base is less that 50 feet away from the handsets. I have the base in my bedroom and when I use the handset in my dining room, there is so much static that I can't hear the person on the line. Also one of the handsets did not ring until I switched cradles. Then I have been seeing strange messages on the handsets like "line in use" even though the other phones are seated in their cradles and off. Also the ring on the handsets is very low and I couldn't find any way (I read the manual) to raise the volume. Needless to say I am going to buy a different brand.
GE Brings BAD Things to Life.......2007-08-12
This phone was a bad choice. We've only had it a few months, and we're already having problems with it. The handsets don't transfer, so if you get a low battery beep in the middle of an important call, you're going to have to hang up and call back with the other handset. Then the answering system started hiding messages! Someone would leave a message, but it wouldn't show on the unit, and it wouldn't play until the next message came in. If it's several days later, you may have missed an important message. Then, even though you know it must be there, you have no way to access the new message until a new message comes in. Who knows what will go wrong next?! We can't take it back to the store, but we're going to replace it anyway -- this phone is just too unreliable!
Poor quality, bad service.......2007-08-06
This unit arrived with a bad battery that would not charge. When I contacted GE, I was told the the battery is not included on the warranty and I would have to purchase one on my own. I emphasized that this was an item purchased two days before my call, to no avail. GE told me I could return the item to Amazon.
Also, during the call the customer service person told me we had a bad connection. I told her I was using the second handset of the system I was calling about. All she said was "Oh". The phone's voice quality is poor, static is high, and the speaker phone worse than than any cell phone I have used. I would not recommend this product to anyone.
didn't last long.......2007-07-31
I have only had the telephone for 1 yr and it's no longer usable voice quality was always poor ans machine not loud enough to hear unless you are standing right next to it

Nobody in this market segment gets it right..........2006-07-22
I bought this to replace my aging Siemen's 2420 home/office system. It supports chain-dialing (unlike some multiline ATT models like the 2.4Ghz speakerphone base - which is now handling my "home" lines)... I had read some bad reviews of the Siemens 8800 series 5.8Ghz effort - so I tried this RCA model. Mistake on my part...
Don't bother with the 'Remote Handset" add-on - it has massive interference problems from local RF sources (home office with lights, wireless headset, wireless LAN, cellular phone - the usual stuff everything should be immune to;).
The speakerphone base is OK for listening, but not for talking. I use a Plantronics 900Mhz headset for all talking - not the handset or the speakerphone mic. Unfortunately, the speakerphone handset will NOT work with a plantronics HL10 handset lifter - I used a dremel moto-tool to fix the design and now it can lift the handset. Don't try this yourself as it voids the warranty and is functional yet not cosmetically pleasing;)
Overall this phone is simply not up to home office duty - despite having 4 lines and a somewhat decent speakerphone.
RCA should learn from Siemens and do a complete multiline speakerphone system with excellent base, intuitive functions to support business users (per-line and per-handset configuration of access, and many other features that Siemens implemented in the 2420 and 8800 series). It should support 8-16 wireless handsets, optional repeaters/range extenders, and remote speakerphones on the wireless side - as it stands it is mostly useless and will likely end up in the garbage as soon as I can find a business-friendly SOHO offering...
My Siemens 2420 lasted almost 8 years and I went thru 4 speakerphone bases, and 12 or more handsets - used it for 2 office locations (home and RV) with great results - too bad nobody else has touched this market with an effective product. Perhaps it's time to revisit the 8800;)
Nearly DOA.......2006-03-29
I have two of model 25404RE3. Needed a 3rd for home office use. Ordered this 'new' model by mistake. The two 25404RE3 phones work fine, but the new 25414RE3 doesn't. First, the phone recognizes only line one when a two line cord is plugged into the first jack. To get it to work for my two lines, I have to plug it into the second jack and use line 3 and 4. Second, it doesn't intercom at all with the 254o4RE3 models. This needs to go back!
Also, FWIW I like the aesthtics of the older model better; sleeker looking buttons and less use of dark colors.

Customer Reviews:
Worst phone system ever used.......2007-06-21
We purchased this unit because we needed a 4-line phone system for our office. Never would we have imagagine all the problems this phone system is plagued by:
1. If the phone rings and you go to pick it up, and someone else goes to pick it up they will both pickup the same line. This is not professional when dealing with customers on the phone. Our old panasonic system never had this problem.
2. A base unit must be purchased with each handset (Unlike most other phone systems out there).
3. The handsets for this unit are horrible. If you pick up a call on it and put them on hold you will lose the indicator telling you which line they are holding on. Then that call can only be picked up by the base unit assigned to that phone (ABSURD!).
4. Range on the handsets is horrendous.
5. You can not be on the base unit and the handset attached to that base unit at the same time.
I will never buy another RCA phone system again. This was a horrible purchase and we had to go drop another $700 to get a new phone system (We chose the panasonic).
Extremely satisfied.......2007-05-13
This is the second phone I purchased for my business. I paid about $40.00 more for the first one at an office supply store. The phone has been everything I had hoped for. I wish I would have shopped here for the first one as well. Even with shipping I saved significantly, and the phone arrived in a timely manner new in the box. It was a great deal.
Good Older Expanable Phone.......2007-03-10
I like these units very much. The LCD is clear and easy to read, and sound is also very clear. The buttons are clearly marked, and easy to understand. I gave it 3 Stars because the instructions we terrible, and set-up was a bit difficult.
You can also use any of the new handsets by RCA with these units, so older ones and newer ones work equally well.
Its a very slick and chic system for the home office and I really like the larger handsets both corded and cordless, as they fit in my hand better.
Very recommended at this price level, the new models are far too expensive for the med-range quality, but the older units are exceptional.
beware: you may have to do rewiring for 4 lines.......2007-01-25
This is a nice phone -- the previous review is accurate. The phone has some nice features but be aware that the four lines are not 4 "seperate". Instead, your modular cords have to be wired so that one cord carries two lines. You can't just plug four seperate phone lines into the phone. I ended up returning the phone because I didn't wanna go through the phone wiring hassle.
I suspect adapters are available to combine two lines into one but that search seems like it could be a morass of frustration.
great desk phone!.......2006-05-31
I spend the entire day on the phone in my home office, and looked at quite a few phones before deciding to purchase this one. The buttons are large and easy to use, the indicator lights make it easy to tell if you're on mute and whether the headset or speaker is live, and the caller ID display is large and easy to read. I particularly appreciate the fact that the phone has a built-in headset jack. Surprisingly, most of the other corded phones I looked at lacked this feature. I only have a single line, so can't comment on the 4-line features. Overall, I would highly recommend this product.

Customer Reviews:
Not for Business Use!.......2006-12-12
RCA advertises this phone for small businesses. It's not working for us!! We bought one 4-line with answering machine, two 4-line without answering machine, and one handset. The chief complaints are:
The answering machine is on the receptionist's phone. Once she picks up one line on that phone, the answering machine will not pick up any other line that rings. That's precisely why we need an answering machine!!
Following RCA instructions, we "registered" the handset to the receptionist's phone. RCA doesn't tell you that registering the handset to a particular base precludes using that base and the handset at the same time. For example, if the receptionist is on any line, no one can use the handset, even though it's a 4-line phone system.
We contacted RCA's customer service about how to fix these issues. The representative (located who knows where) responded to both with, "You can't."
important points not addressed.......2006-10-12
We purcahsed the newer versions of this phone - 25414 and 25415. the 25415 has the answering system inside. The 25414 is its sister phone for our other room in the home office. Certain things have apparently been addressed since the version listed such as multi line use at the same time. Others have not. Privacy speaking still must be manually set or other people can pick up the line and listen in.
Our beef with this phone system is a) the customer service as noted doesn't have a clue about the product, and b) when I am on 25415 and calls come in, the answering system will not pick up no matter how many rings. We have been unsuccessful in getting the intercom to work either. Proper ID codes were set up as directed in the manual on the phone, but still no intercom. Customer service unable to assist. Said the phone was defective, but a return with a new phone resulted in the same issues.
Pros: the phone does have remote access to the voice mail, which works fine. We have 3 lines, and that all works fine. Additionally, if someone is on the 25414 phone, the incoming calls will go to voicemail if unable to answer after the designated rings. We are also able to be on both lines at the same time and still receive calls on the 3rd line, which is a feature rarely utilized.
We don't really require much more than that, but the issues with this phone suggests that RCA needs to do more in improvements to satisfy it's target market.
Pick up any line, any time phone.......2006-02-10
I just purchased 5 of the 25403 GE-RCA Phones, and I tried getting customer service on the following issue:
When anyone is on any line, you can just pick it up and listen in, is this normal?
I just put down the phone with your customer service, and I must say: 1) or the person on the phone has no idea how this thing works 2) or this product is outdated and sucks.
Explain to me if EVER saw a phone (never mind a business phone) that you can just pickup any line that is IN USE? I used older models and lower brands before, never in my life have I heard such a thing!
The guy tells me that there's a Privacy button on the phone that I can use, well thanks, this Privacy thing is just like any other DND (Do Not Disturb) button on any other phone out there, you cannot receive any other calls while you're in that mode, and you have to set this button every time you make a phone call and you don't want anyone to be able to pickup or listen in, is this for REAL???
Anybody out there that DOES know anything about this, or is there any help available to return these phones???
Silliest Design I've ever seen on a Small Business phone.......2006-01-18
Phone looks nice and has a clean ergonomic design. The sound quality is good. OK - That's it. That's all I can say positive about the phone.
I purchased a base station and remote phones to use for my Home Office and the remainder of my home. I bought this to replace a phone that was about 5 years old that had served me well but was degrading in sound quality. The way I've always used the phone is, my home line is Line 1 and my BUSINESS line is Line 2. I used the business line (Line 2) all day long and my wife and kid use the home line (Line 1) all day long. We could interchange handsets or use the base for either Line 1 or Line 2. I assumed that any multi-line BUSINESS phone developed in the last 20 years would allow the same. Not this RCA Phone!
Get this... You can only use 1 phone at a time, despite having multiple phone lines. You can use the base station OR a handset. You can NEVER use Line 1 and Line 2 at the same time on separate phones! If you attempt to use a handset while on the base for example, it states, "Base in Use". Was this designed in the 1970s?
I couldn't believe that the phones would work this way, so I called their Customer Service line. The gentleman said, "Just think of your handsets as an extension of the base. You wouldn't have 2 people on the base at the same time would you?" He thought this made sense. He suggested that I just buy another Base phone for every handset I wanted to put throughout my house! That made sense to him too.
Please - If you plan to be an Engineer or if you plan to go in to Marketing, do not go in to phone design or marketing if the RCA phone design makes sense to you. This is not a practical phone to use unless you will NEVER have more 1 person in your house or office AND you will never have to quickly switch from your base to your handset... remember, they both can't be on the same line at the same time.
