Fast, Darned Fast.......2005-08-04
I am used to faster network printers in the 30ppm range (which makes home printers seem slow). Then, this thing spits out at 45ppm. It seems like ours does 60ppm because it prints a page per second (maybe because they are not full pages of text). Wow. Of course, the expected HP quality and reliability.

Whoever wrote the specs for this phone was obviously copying text from some other fancier phone since most of the features mentioned are NOT included with this phone. Also please note that the review by Lynnaye is apparently hogwash written by a paid representative of this company (see this person's other reviews and you'll see what I mean. Cosmetically its ok so feel free to use it as a prop.
Not Quite what Amazon says it is........2000-12-01
I bought this item thinking it had music on hold, like Amazon says in its description. However this phone does not even offer the basic hold feature -- let alone a music enhancement. I also checked the instruction manual and it makes no mention of it. This phone also does not have the "flash" function, as the description says. You have to press the switch hook in order to check your call waiting.
However, it does offer the ringer on/off option and is tone/pulse switchable. The redial feature is activated by pressing the gold circle in the middle of the "dialing pad".
Overall, this phone does not have all the features that Amazon says it does. But if you want an interesting looking, cheap, no frills phone, to put in the extra bedroom, this might be a good choice.

Very Low quality product.......2006-10-05
I bought this for 49.99 at an outlet store and feel I got ripped off. The finish is peeling off from day one. At first I thought it was the protective plastic that you are supposed to peel off. The radio reception is much worse than my other Eton. When I press the "up" button to change teh station frequency, often the CR player starts.
Do not buy this from a place that does not give an unconditional money back guarantee, or better yet, choose another product.
Fine While it Lasted.......2006-08-31
I purchased mine in August 2004 and it is dead as of August 2006. For travel, while it worked, it was fine; I loved the sleep function, the sound was OK although I chose to use portable speakers with it. But it started behaving peculiarly about six months ago, not starting right up at times. Considering the price and the brand name, this portable player should have had a longer lifespan.

Have used my Grundig Eton for a couple years and love it! I don't need to run it on batteries, but love how it plays CD's, MP3's and is great for recorded books. I do a lot of hand sewing and find it the perfect companion. I like not having to wear a headset or earpiece to hear it, however, it has earpieces and a nice headset if you need them.
Do not buy this Thing called a Radio.......2006-02-16
I have rarely been so dissapointed as I was when I received this thing (I hesitate to call it a radio.) I live in Australia and do a bit of international travel. I wanted a travelling radio (AM in particular)that also plays my CD/MP3's. Read the info, and it states in the manual and ON THE UNIT that it is both European and USA frequency compatible in the AM band. NOT TRUE! The US version is US and the European version is European only. So yes it is a travelling radio, it just doesnn't like to travel far!
The MP3's that I played on the unit, skipped within the tracks, sigh. The keys to set the time/date were hypersensitive and skipped randomly between functions. Yuck.

When it works, it works very well. My first unit would not play cd's on a consistant basis. It was replaced by merchant. The 2nd unit worked very well for 5 months after which it no longer read a cd or mp3cd. It is interesting than the owner's manual does NOT note that mp3cd's are playable; only standard cd's. The speakers are a joke, but the included headphone produce a great sound. They become uncomfortable after 1-2 hours and the cord is very short. This unit was used by an age 50+ consumer with no misuse and was cleaned regularly. The radio's tuner is weak as FM stations 20 miles+ away were audible only on mono.
