I had this player for about 2 1/2 years. I don't watch many movies, so it probably got used 2 or 3 times a month. The picture quality is great. It was a pretty nice dvd player. It wasn't as good for CDs, lacking features you'd want in a cd player, but it was ok. It died with the H07 error everyone else is reporting. I thought I would try and fix it with some WD40 like I've seen posted on the web. I tried to open it up and apparently the screws have been glued in or something, and simply will not come out. So I stomped on it a few times, and hit it with a hammer several times. Never managed to open it, it's a pretty rugged case. But I'm pretty sure it's dead now. It makes rattling noises when I pick it up and shake it, and has lots of dents. Oh well, I think my next one won't be a panasonic, since it seems alot of them have this problem

i heard all the horror stories about panasonic giving NO details about what these messages are, and how they "fix" them for over 100 bucks only for them to BREAK again. Let's all report them and make a big stink and get new players or refunds as we keep getting our friends to make a big deal out of Panasonic making shotty defective DVD players then committing fraud by charging to not even fix the players! They'll either give us, in numbers, refunds or replacements to shut us up or fix their damn crappy players to keep bad press and this word of mouth movement from growing!

Tell them you have HUNDREDS of written accounts of shotty H07 or H02 (etc)messages you found from hundreds of panasonic customer reviews and interactions on electronic and consumer sites like this one and they will be complaining soon...even copy/paste some (with the url addy for proof!)
-When asked for a desired outcome, tell BBB you are ENTITLED to a refund since Panasonic knowingly are selling defective DVD players to NUMEROUS people and blowing ALL of them off for repairs or even courtesy HELP with what the heck the message means. Tell them they are robbing and commiting fraud upon consumers and demand your money back from them and for them to publicly apoligize and vow to FIX all problems with their products before selling them.

I bought a DVD for my son within the last 2 years and now the unit is displaying error code H07. Do not buy Panasonic.

If you still have a unit that has experienced the H07 death message, call Panasonic Executive Customer Relations at 201-392-6870. Politely but firmly ask them what they are doing about this widespread problem, and tell them you would like them to fix your unit at no charge.

DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE! .......2005-05-07
This drive has been nothing but headache... I would give this drive ZERO star if I can. It played fine for a month and then it started having problems. Initially it refused to read DVDs then after about another month, it stopped reading CDs. Paid $100 for Creative Labs name, but I'll avoid buying their product again... maybe Soundcards, but nothing else.

First off let me just say that I purchased this drive when DVD-Roms were very popular and it was uncommon to see a computer come with one stock. Knowing that, it was really a heafty price (about 100 dollars). This product worked great for about two months before it broke; in that it, would not notice any type of cd I put into it. So I thought hummmmm, it must be still under warranty because I bought it only a few months ago. I send it into Creative Labs for repare and I get a call about two weeks later informing me that they want 90 dollars (plus the shipping cost) to repare it and send it back. I was furious, and didnt even bother to return their phone calls. Do not waist your money on this product. It breaks easy and can't even read most video disks that any other DVD player would have no problem with (ie VCD)

This is a really bad DVD drive. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. But most of the time it didn't. While watching DVD's, it paused sporatically for up to 10 seconds. Sometimes it did not even play at all. It was fine with data and music CD's. I was expecting a good drive, keeping in mind Creative Labs' reputation. Boy, was I wrong.
After awhile, it completely broke down on me, not recognizing any media whatsoever in the drive.
Do yourself a favor and go with Sony or Memorex; their drives seem to be alright.
POOR QUALITY, POOR SUPPORT, POOR CREATIVE!.......2002-12-09
I purchased this DVD player about a year ago, and have never been able to play a DVD (no picture). I can play music CD's just fine, but when playing DVDs, the DVD player spins...and spins...and spins... with no picture. I've tried half a dozen times to resolve this problem through Creative's on-line technical support, and to no avail they have yet to be creative enough to come up with a permanent fix. According to Creative's techs, I need the latest bios updates and chipset patches for it to function properly (which I already have), however they are too myopic to admit that the potential cause for it not working is lack of driver support/updates for Windows 2000, and the possibility that the DVD player is defective. Not to mention, it may take several days for technical support to respond to questions you may have about their products. And when the finally do, they never seem to give you a systematic way of diagnosing and fixing the problem. Extremely disappointed in their lack of support/customer service and poor quality.. And since the product is out of warranty, I am now stuck with an over-rated, poor quality, malfuctioning, [] DVD player that can only be used for playing music CDs. Never assume Creative will resolve your problem in an expeditious, effective manner because you'll end up paying for it; I did! I will never again purchase another product manufactured by Creative..Buyer beware!!! By the way I am still waiting for creative's response to my lastest inquiry...If anyone feels they have the expertise in troubleshooting the lack of picture, please don't hesitate to email me at ysche@aol.com Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

It seems like a lie but until now Creative doesn't have created any equipment support for this model. In Windows 2k as in 98 when I open the tray....it opens but in a few seconds it closes
alone.....incredible. Absurditly it does not even have a pattern of time to close, so you need to pray for, when you put or take the cd.
When I bought it; I put 100 dlls to the trash can.
