Disks it doesn't play: DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW(once rewritten, there's gibberish.)

Changing disks and getting the right one in, out, or to play is as anti-intuitive as possible. The UI screams for improvement.

But, everything it claims to work works so far. I enjoy the 5-disc capacity once you figure out how to load and play them.

What a disappointment!.......2003-11-30

We bought this because we wanted to play CDs DVDs and MP3. It did that well but only for a year. It stopped playing in the middle of a CD and displayed "NoDisk". It refused to open to get the disk out. I had to take the case apart to get the disk. Their web site is no help at all looking up the error codes.

It has always been difficult to get it to play the disk you wanted it to. You just can't select a disk; you must first stop the player then select the disk. Very bad programming interface.

I bought this product seven months ago and have had nothing but problems. When I got it home the carousel would not stay open. So I took it back. Within a week of the labor warranty running out the Laser Processing Unit went bad. Fool that I am I paid to get it fixed. Two weeks after the gaurantee on that unit ran out it quit working again. I tried e-mailing panasonic but of course mysteriously that aspect of the web site was not working each time I tried to submit my complaint. Shocker!!!!! Save your time and money and stay away from this money pit.

Decent player with flaws.......2003-09-18

I've had the CV52 for about 9 months and I am generally pleased with its performance. Before I go into details, I should let you know what I was looking for from the unit. I got it to add a DVD player to my home theater and to replace a 5 disc carousel cd player. I specifically picked this model because of its mp3 capabilities, considering I already have a few dozen mp3 cds burned for my tdk mojo portable player. I've also tried out VCDs on the unit.

As a DVD player, the unit meets all my admittedly lax standards. I have no need for progressive scan, and the picture is certainly crisp enough for my 29" TV. It's got all the features I would want or need, including variable speed fast forward and reverse, zooms, subtitles, and dozens of other things I've never used. The only annoying thing is that you have to use the remote to select the disc (no direct disc access, in marketing speak).

As an mp3 player, the unit is more lacking. It doesn't support id3 tags, which is a very basic function that any mp3 player should include. But far worse than that, the chip is so basic that it will only play mp3s that are encoded with specific codecs. If you are ripping your CDs yourself this is no problem, but it is a pain if you are grabbing mp3s from the internet or if you've already encoded your CDs in a different codec. Specifically, it will correctly play mp3s created with the Fraunhofer codec and the Radium codec. It won't play files created with LAME, the free encoder. Luckily for me, my mojo has the same problem, so I had already been using Radium when I bought this unit.

The mp3 interface is pretty robust, although not as good as my mojo. You can select songs on the TV, which is a cool feature. As long as your mp3s are organized in logical directories, you'll have no trouble selecting songs. The sound quality, if the files are encoded properly, is decent at 128k and good at 160k or 192k. I'd put it at better than radio quality and slightly inferior to CD (or even rivaling CD depending on what type of music it is).

The unit also plays VCDs well. If you feed Nero (burning software) some MPGs and tell it to create a VCD, it will play nicely in this DVD player, although the picture isn't great (a limitation of the VCD format). The unit technically does not support SVCDs, but if you use the "SVCD header trick" (search the internet to find out more), it will play correctly with a much clearer picture than a VCD. I've had it work every time I've tried it, but YMMV of course. Alternatively, I've heard that you can convert an SVCD to an XVCD, but I haven't tried it.

I haven't had any trouble with the unit reading media, and I've given it CDRs, CDRWs, and DVDRs. I haven't tried burning mp3s onto a DVDR, though, which sounds interesting.

There are several complaints in these reviews about the user interface, but I think the problems are overstated. Some things are not particularly intuitive (you have to press stop twice to get a disc out), but they are not complex. To play random mp3's from a single disc, you turn off sequential mode; to play from all discs you turn it on. That's pretty simple. Note though, when you're playing from all five discs, there is a delay between songs that lasts a few seconds.

All in all, the unit has its drawbacks, but it's very cheap and has a lot of features that you would not expect in that price range.

Very poor Service.......2003-07-19

This DVD lasted just over a year. Panasonic DVDs have a problem with the Optical Pickup Unit. This DVD also had the same problem. One fine day (just after the 1 year warranty period expired), it started showing 'No Playing' message for any disc I used. Although I live very close to a Panasonic Service center, I could never reach them before or after work since they are open only from 9am to 5 pm Mon-Fri.
There is a class action suit pending against Panasonic for selling faulty DVDs. I came to know of this only after mine broke.
I would not recommend this player to anyone.

I bought this on a spare the moment deal at fry's electronics for $90? I can't remember the price anymore but whatever the price was I paid too much for it. It is a really slim portable camera. That is the only upside on this item. When it comes to actual picture taking you better hope you have a steady hand since the slightest jolt will make your picture really blurry. The light contrast indoors is horrible. This is really an outdoors camera. The lcd and menu navigation are junk also. I would recommend anything else besides this camera. I think Mattel has a Barbie branded camera which is probably better than this camera.

I've had no problems with the camera, but I bought a 512mb sd memory card and it won't read it. the screen just goes blank. other than that and the fact that it's so small it's hard to hold still while shooting, no problems. I love the fact that it charges from the 'stand' that's plugged into the computers usb!

I was suprised about the bad reviews here, I have always loved these speakers, I listen to them all day at work. I just thought I'd look around at what's out there and came across my speakers reviews.
I don't know if the other reviews are from audiophiles, but for COMPUTER SPEAKERS in this price range I would say that you get more than your money's worth. Sure it's no Klipsch, run by some Mackintosh amps, but it's also not something you have to take out a second mortgage for.
Bottom line - outstanding value.
To rebut the other reviewers, - the base is made of metal and it's heavy, so it doesn't fall over easily, but it is tall and thin, so I guess if you are knocking into it it will fall over.
As for the balance, use your computer to adjust the balance. Go to microsoft.com if you need that basic of an instruction on your computer.

Previous reviews on sound quality are right on target. But it's also true that these speakers don't cost much, so it may be a case of we get what we pay for. I have a few things to add:

1. To me, the speakers sound tinny.

2. No balance control. Not a problem if you plan to place the speakers symmetrically on either side of your computer, but if your desk space requires a different layout, you'll find this frustrating.

3. The big issue -- one of the speaker outputs just didn't work in the set I got.

4. Creative's customer service is poor (that is, the industry standard in electronic and computer equipment).

Good, but..........2005-04-16

First of all sorry if I make any mistake, I'm spanish (the former and the latter are strongly interconnected).
Those creative speakers are cute and not too expensive, but:

1.- The mid range sounds a bit weak compared to the almost annoying enormous bass(i have levelled it near the minimum in order to achieve a precarious balance).

2.- non-lineal volume control(an inconvenient attitude).

3.- I have them for eight months and, first barely audible but by now an almost imbearable distortion (without regard to volume) has appeared.
I suppose that it's only that I'm not lucky and I bought the faulty ones...

I bought the T3000 and have enjoyed them so much that I thought I'd give these a try before my exchange period ended. Not that I dislike the T3000 but rather I was wondering if spending a little more would give me a little bit better sound.

The mid-range is really weird on the 3200. Super thumpy music can drown some of it out but over all it still sounds a bit odd. Piano is way, way off.

There are a lot of positive reviews on line so obviously some people like the accoustic signature of this speaker. I really don't care for the sound but you may like it just fine. I strongly suggest you try it before you buy it.

when i purchased this item i thought that it'd bring me comfort in my long hours on the pc. i was worng.

1, it is not as soft as you'd expect
2, it gets in the way while playing games and using applications that require extensive mouse movement

i gave this item 2 stars only because i liked the color of the thing. apart from that it has nothing else that i think you'll like.

I purchased this item based on the reviews but I must say I'm disappointed. I condsider the gel very hard for its purpose. It does position my wrist correctly but the gel is so hard that my wrist still ends up hurting. I am going to switch to a bean bag type and see if that is better. Regarding the smell, I do smell it when I put it to my nose but not when it is being used correctly. I don't have a problem with any smell.

I just got an under the desk keyboard tray and the mouse had no wrist pad....this little gem did the trick! PERFECT wrist support and it's small enough to fit nicely on the under the desk keyboard trays!! Great and inexpensive solution!!!

Best Flex Wrist Rest.......2007-02-28

This is the best wrist rest.

As wrist rests go, this wrist rest must exist as best.

It is billed as a "flex" wrist rest. As such, the reviewer must defer to the manufacturer's best judgment, because this wrist rest does list (in my case, it lists to the right). I do find that the odor emitted by the new wrist rest is not the best, but you do get used to it.

Should a user get used to the wrist rest smell, though, the user used to the best flex wrist rest's existing smell is rewarded.

So, to sum up, here we have the best right-listing flex wrist rest that exists.

Just kidding. I borrowed it. Long term. Really. GRIN. Anyway, I like the fellowes gel pad. I use it in conjunction with the vertical mouse. It has a nice smooth, but firm feel which cushions my arm as I use my mouse. It has a slightly tacky base which helps it stay put when I move my arm around. It also is quite attractive color. In short, it works great. 5 stars.
