Very poor shelf life, high internal discharge rate.......2007-08-30
I've had several sets of these over the past couple of years and I've found that they become virtually unusable after just a few uses. I have taken to carrying 3 extra sets of 4 of these in my digicam case and in several cases I've only gotten 10-20 photos out of the whole batch of 16 batteries, esp. if they've been in the case for a week or so. I thought I must be doing something wrong, or my charger was bad or something, but when I bought some other brands (Rayovac, Tenergy, and Powerex) I found they actually lasted about four times as long as either these Energizers or the equivalent Duracells that I had. I'll not be buying any more of these, or the Duracells either. They were cheap Walmart/Target sets but they're a waste of money.

Many times I cursed my camera to be eating batteries but then I tested the Energizer Batteries out of camera and found that they die automatically in as little time as one day. Never belive in Energizer.
My camera now works with Sony batteries for months.
Terrible self discharge rate.......2007-08-02
I put these in my kid's toys. They were dead in a week without the toy being used. The Energizer Bunny would be dead before he was turned on. By contrast the Panasonic HHR-3UP equivalent lasts for months.
If you are going to charge and use right away, they'll be fine (e.g. tape player). If you put them in something (camera, toy, flashlight) that you may want to use later, forget it.
Agree with comments that it's not good for digital cameras.......2007-05-23
These batteries have phenomenally high self-discharge rates, going so far as to be "dead" after 10-20 shots in a digital camera (and no more than 1-2 weeks since last charge). They died quickly in my Nikon SB-600 (flash) and, after relegating them to my wife's Canon S3, they died even faster. Luckily I paid a relatively low price for them at Sam's Club. I recently purchased a Lacrosse BC-900 so I'll see if that helps any (perhaps a dead battery or something).
Interestingly enough, I never encountered this in my experiences with the 1700 and 2100 Energizer NiMH's. Go figure.
Not good for digital cameras.......2007-05-18
I just bought these recently to use in my digital camera while on vacation. After fully charging them and inserting them in the camera they almost imediately showed a low battery icon on the camera. Several times I tried charging them, and then tried to use them with the same results. I was trying to avoid purchasing disposable batteries, since I take ALOT of pictures, but unfortunately that's what I ended up using.

I did a search for a 80-5808-00-00 cordless phone and this is what showed - it is a 3 cell battery and the one for the phone battery I was looking for is a 2 cell battery. This is not a replacement for the 80-5808-00-00 even though it says it is.

We've had to replace the original panasonic battery twice now and they never seem to last that long to begin with. I've had the phone checked out by the authorize panasonic service center and both times it was just in need of a new battery. The energizer battery has a higher amp output and that is a plus too over the original battery.

These batteries are fine; this is my second time replacing them in my Panasonic phone. (The originals lasted about a year and these about a year and a half.) But be very careful about what seems like a good deal. Amazon showed my best price as being through Eek Technology at $8.99 each. Being Amazon, I was feeling comfortable and they almost slipped through charging me over $15 shipping for an $8.99 battery. This is the kind of nonsense that I expect at eBay, not Amazon.

I followed the instructions posted by others and was able to make my own battery using 3 of the 2500 energizer nimh. I used some aluminum strips I cut from ducting because I felt they would be a little more durable and pass the current easier. I also found that by using a dremel I was able to make the cavity in the phone bigger where the positive terminal nub+aluminum strip was a tight squeeze. The first pack I tried to make I had to take apart and do over because when I tried to squeeze it in I think I messed up the nub/strip part. I definately recommend the homemade solution.

The Energizer ER-P290 2.4-Vot Cordless Phone Battery was the perfect solution when my V-Tech cordless phones started acting up. Replacing the batteries took care of all my problems and these batteries do the job at an outstanding price. I noticed no difference from the original batteries, working just as well as the orginals when originals were new! Plug the replacements in your phone, charge them overnight and enjoy the voice quality, range and operational functions you had when your phones were new. I ordered one to try it out first, then three more to replace all the batteries in my four year old V-Tech phone system. Highly recommended!!

Simple little flashlight & nightlight.......2007-09-24
I like this little flashlight. It can be used as a nightlight or as a flashlight.
When plugged in on nightlight mode, it emits a half power night light. I use it in the bathroom.
When plugged in and switched on flashlight mode, the light remains off as long as the power is connected to it. If the power fails, the flashlight turns on so you can find it... exactly the feature I was looking for.
Bottom line, this is not a very bright flashlight... but if you are looking for a simple rechargable flash light that doubles as an emergency light, you are in luck!

Following the Hawaii earthquake and subsequent blackout, I purchased 2 of these lights to avoid having to rummage through the dark finding a flashlight. The small size, low cost, and LED light source made this a good choice. These lights are bright enough to provide emergency lighting to find flashlights and other items in the event of power disruptions and have the added benefit of a nightlight feature, which leaves the light on while plugged in at a lower brightness level. Overall we are are pleased to have these lights and feel more secure knowing we will not be caught completely in the dark.

The light comes on when it's charging, but never goes off, so you never know when it's done. Also, you have to charge 2 or 4 at a time, not one or three. Seems to work OK.

I bought these batteries for my digital camera and they work great. High consumption digital devices can cost you a lot of money in batteries, and throwing batteries away is terrible for the environment. Great charger and quality batteries.......2007-05-15
Works great for 4 AA or 4 AAA at a time. We use the included batteries in our digital camera, LED flashlights and walkie-talkies with no problems and good battery life. All my older AA rechargeables work with the charger. Takes about 2 hours to charge. The 12v car power attachment is a big plus when traveling/vacationing. This charger DOES work with AAA's - it has a flip down converter.
The AC adapter is pretty darn big and heavy for what it is - that would probably be my only negative but it's not a big deal.
What a Life/Money Saver.......2007-05-07
After buying my first SLR digital camera and burning through the regular batteries, this recharger has been a life saver (not running out of batteries in the middle of a long photographic hike since I bought a second set of four chargeable batteries) and a money saver by simply alternating between the two sets and not buying the regular ones every one to two weeks.

Still not the best fit..........2007-08-15
I purchased this battery to complement my portable DVD player. We use it for my daughter's entertainment during long trips and the battery it came with only lasts less then two hours. Because the DVD player is all systems all regions, we needed to find something to extend the life of battery without having to plug it in. This product was supposed to fit pretty much anything including our DVD player, but it doesn't... We still continue to use it, but the plug sneaks out at times which causes a pretty big uproar from our daughter... Make sure you check if one of the plugs it comes with fits your product.
Good Alternative to RCA OEM Battery.......2007-05-14
I used this unit on one screen of the RCA DRC 629N Dual Screen DVD RCA 7" Dual Screen Portable DVD Playerafter finding that the unit did not come with a battery and the battery is impossible to find anywhere except by contacting RCA directly for $99.
I decided to try this out as it claimed to provided the same run time as the RCA battery and it did not disappoint. I noticed on the package that the battery time is dependant on the size of the screen and whatever functions you may be using so I suspect that if I used double screens then the time will be cut in at least half but I did get a solid 2 hours out of it with power to spare with one screen with a single DVD test.
One other thing to pay attention to are the instructions on initial charge:
For the first 3 charges you must charge for 13 hours each time.
This should condition the battery for on going usage as this is NIMH and not Lithium Ion.

I bought it last night, charged it for 16 hours according to the instruction. We tested it with a brand new Polaroid portable DVD, it lasted around 3 hours. We will use it for taking a 25 hours train to Canada. It is very light, slim and portable.

I guess I don't know how good this product is because it is not compatible with my Magnavox DVD player. The description of it "DOES NOT" tell you what portable players it can link to so be careful and check first to see if it will work. I just think it is poor that Amazon does not put the compatible units on the website.

I wear this at work, strapped to my hardhat like a miner. It is very bright, and the batteries last a long time. I don't use the redlight feature, just the white. I got tired of holding my Maglite between my teeth to work with both hands.
Great Headlamp at a Great Price.......2007-03-26
I love the fact that this uses LEDs and common (AAA) batteries. This is very bright - plenty of light for anything I might want to do. The fact that it has a Red LED, to preserve night vision, is icing on the cake. I ordered one the first time around, then went back and ordered several more to be used as gifts. (My nephew is going to love it!)
Update: Subtract 1 star because I found it turned on in the pocket of my backpack. (It appears that the slider switch moves a bit too easily. I may try something like a rubber band wrapped around the light to try to keep the switch from moving.)
On the other hand, add back 1/2 star due to the fact that the light swivels up and down so you can direct the light where you need it.
Still comes out at 4.5 stars for me.

I took this headlamp with me to the UK and when I bought books at the various castles and stately homes, I wanted to READ them at night whilst my friends wanted to sleep. This little head lamp was PERFECT and the red light is restful. Great for sneaking around at night when the rest of the stately home is closed and we want to get a better look at things.
