I have made about 22 or so disks. Not yet a single coaster made. This disk does get a little worse in picture quality toward the middle of the disk. BEWARE

Wrong item shipped.......2007-03-25
I ordered this item specifically because it shows in the picture that they are 2x. I was shipped TDK 1-16x. My recorder won't work with anything higher than 4x before firmware upgrade. It is an Emerson dvd-vhs combo. I you are looking for a disk that works in that model these won't. I have no use for them but I have used TDK disks if I can find them in the write x...
The best recordable DVDs........2006-04-29
I've recorded over 400 movies in the past year, mostly on these TDK disks, mostly with a Panasonic DVD recorder. I've tried other brands, Verbatim, Memorex, HP, and others, and with those 1 out of 10 or 20 fail. Not these - only about one failure per 100.
Update: during the year or so since this review, I've had numerous TDK discs fail; maybe they got a bad batch or something, it seems to have started after they changed the design. I tried more brands and Magnavox DVDs, both -R and +R, are working fine for now. I hope TDK gets their old high quality standards back.
Great Product for 8X.......2005-07-28
This discs seems to work really really well on my MAC Lacie 8x -- seems the only ones that really work at 8x...just have to watch if TDK sometimes messes up and codes them as 4x (it happens, sometimes).

this is by far the best media out there. this media works on all dvd players including my very picky samsung dvd/vcr combo purchased 4 years ago. I like memorex and imation, but tdk is the best. it's a little more expensive but if you are backing up your dvd collection like myself, then make sure that you store them on media that will last a long time. i have made several burns and not had a single coaster yet. After having tried many brands of DVD+R discs, I have found that the HP's work by far the best. They burn properly EVERY time, unlike the cheaper brands and they playback in more dvd players. Too bad some people don't know how to use them (see last comment).
Poor quality.......2002-12-14
A copy of this DVD+R came with my HP external DVD burner. DVD+R's in general are cheaper than their DVD+RW counterpart, and after trying to make a copy of a DVD, I discovered why. The DVD+RW burned with no problem, but the DVD+R disc did not. Maybe I should try more before I judge them, but based off of first impressions, this DISC gets a D- rating from me!

I buy this 100 package DVD+R Memorex item with a amazing results. I write at this moment 25 DVD's and not lost any disk, all will be writen succesfully. I recomend this product. !! Real 16X speed in my Samsung DVD RW/DL Writer.

I really wanted the Memorex products to work, but I have had more duds with the CD's, DVD's, and Labels (you heard right. It seems their labels are too thick to work on a car CD player) than any other brand name (and this also includes non-popular brands like Pro Media, Khypermedia, etc.).
May I make a suggestion to Memorex? Instead of spending so much money in being trendy, they should put it in quality control. Their greatest spokes person was Ella Fitzgerald. Both Ella, and the cassette she spoke for, died. The way things are going with Memorex, they wont be far behind.
Please, Memorex, wake up and smell the coffee.

Coupled with an Epson RX480 printer, I've printed at least 100 DVDs and have had no issues. It's simple and the artwork looks professional for sure! Highly recommend!
400+ And Going Strong.......2007-06-18
I have burned and printed 400+ of these discs in the last twelve months and have had exactly one fail. That particular disc was returned by the customer and replaced with the same type of Memorex disc with no further problems. About half of these discs were burned on an older 4x Pioneer drive and the rest on a new 16x LaCie. I would recommend these DVD's to anyone considering purchasing them.

Great Disks No Problems.......2007-04-24
I bought these as I got a new burner with lightscribe which I thought these disks were for, however, that's my fault they aren't so I can't print on them, however, no big deal because I haven't had one problem with them. I've bought these particular disks 3 times before, and have had nothing but sucess with them, I'd recommend them to anyone. Personally I'd rather spend a few extra dollars for something I know has worked and I can trust than take a chance on a brand that's 10 bucks less and get stuck with crap! Made that mistake once, never again! Alternatively I buy Fuji disks when these go up in price and they also work very well. The last pack of 100 I bought of both brands, I havent had one bad burn and I'm almost empty again which is why I'm re-ordering.

It's not the discs - It's your PC........2007-06-17
I have these discs and couldn't burn a good one to save my life. That was when I was using a PC. I recently switched to a Mac and presto - I haven't had a single problem since. I feel that PC's are too prone to programs causing problems and conflicting with other programs, etc. I would get a write failure if my screensaver kicked in while burning. Seriously - check out your PC before you blame the discs. Better yet....buy a Mac.

stay away from these discs.... i run a photo and music studio and bought a 200 of these discs to back up most of my files... BUrnt them at 8x and when the time came to put them back onto my hard drive..PROBLEMS PROBLEMS PROBLEMS>.. the disc would no read... tried burning dvd's on there... same problems.. i've dealt with many DVD r's before.. memorex is the worst!... clearly it wasnt my burner because i tried the discs on 4 different machines.... looking for reliable discs... go with Sony DVD+R they're by far the best!

I thought this pack of 50 DVD+R was good, but I would recommend you get the brand Verbatim. Memorex is cheap and reliable, but your best bet would be Verbatim since it's much more reliable and can keep your files and anything you put on it safe and secure.

Haphazard results when archiving movies.......2007-09-05
I've owned the RCA DRC 8030 DVD recorder since June, and I'd have to say that roughly one third of all DVDs burned showed pixelation artifacts on playback. Sometimes the pixelation was minor, sometimes there would be large green horizontal streaks on the frame and actual simultaneous audio buzzing, but regardless, what I ended up with was a coaster in one-third of my recording attempts. The movie played right off the DVD recorder hard disk is perfectly clear, so that is not the problem. The problem seemed to be independent of film/program length or recording speed. Switching to DVD+R's has eliminated the problem completely, so I can only assume that the DVD-R was the source. I would therefore not recommend this product for archiving movies, at least for my particular brand of DVD recorder.
Bad product or bad lot ???.......2007-07-03
I never feel like I need to put the review. I may got a bad lot of this product. I tried a few disc to back up my data by Nero program and Philip drive, dell computer E1405. It failed more than half. At first I think that my drive is bad or my computer have something wrong, so I formatted and reinstalled all programs and then tried it again. It failed again. I think about buying a new dvd writer. I never think that the disc is bad, but when I write my data on Verbatim after I failed with Memorex. Verbatim worked great!!! It saved my money before I buy a new dvd writer. I cannot explain what happenned. If Memorex staff read this, please let me know. 1 star for wasting my time and I don't know what to do with 45 memorex disc ???

I have used about 30 of these DVDs to transfer old VCR tapes to DVD with a LG DVD/VCR recorder and a Phillips DVD recorder. I have had no problems whatever. The DVD-R works great. I recommend them to one and all.

After burning about 50 DVD's, I have no coasters. The surface prints just beautifully. I use a Epson R-320 printer and the results of this printer and the Memorex DVD's are great.
I ordered this twice. Once I was sent the hub printable version and the other has a narrow strip at the hub that you can print with a gap where the stacking ring is. At first, I was disappointed, but after using both I find them both to be very useful.
The only negative is that Amazon should specify which printable type you are going to get rather than leaving it up to chance.

This is a good buy, I've always liked memorex. Trusted brand through and through. The real problem lies with writing of the cd's. I had bought a set of memorex pens to write with my memorex dvd's, only problem is these water-based pens dont write well on these at all. Save your money and buy some sharpies. Other then that, their great.

These DVD's burn well and play in all the DVD players I've tried them in (even a very finicky one). I don't use a printer, but the plain white surface looks so much nicer than the typical logos. Makes titles stand out nicely with just a sharpie.
