Optimized for both television viewing and media playback, the TC-20LA1 has a standard 4:3 aspect ratio and features a slim, lightweight cabinet, a 181-channel NTSC tuner, high brightness, and a 500:1 contrast ratio for exceptional picture clarity. It can display enhanced-definition TV (EDTV) programming in the 480p signal format (ATSC DTV receiver not included) and will also display 480p signals from a progressive-scan DVD player at full resolution. A built-in progressive-scan up converter enhances standard NTSC signals, resulting in remarkably sharp and detailed 480p pictures with no visible scan lines. The unit also features stereo speakers and simulated surround sound.

A 3D Y/C digital comb filter digitally separates the color information from the black and white portions of the signal, eliminating dot crawl and so-called hanging dots. For film-based video sources, this model includes Panasonic's Progressive Cinema Scan (3:2 pulldown), which compensates for motion artifacts that sometimes result from the telecine process that converts film's 24 frames per second to an NTSC-friendly 60 fps. You'll enjoy smooth-flowing images with a level of detail approaching that of the original film print.

Other enhancements include LCD AI (Artificial Intelligence), which continuously monitors signal conditions to maintain high picture contrast; Active Light Circuitry, which detects the brightness of the input signal and adjusts the backlight accordingly; and Active System Control, which dynamically adjusts the video signal according to image contrast. Together with Active Light Circuitry, this technology adds brilliance to bright scenes and brings more depth to dark ones.

This is a great little TV that seems to do everything well. The picture is pretty darned good as LCDs go--it is very brilliant and crisp, although in common with all LCD screens that I've seen it sometimes is less-than-perfect for dark scenes. The built-in speakers are mostly OK, although you in my opinion the set benefits significantly if you use bigger outboard speakers.

conext UPS - A bad experience .......2007-09-10

I purchased a Conext 780 UPS. When we had a circuit breaker blow the unit starting to smoke and shut off. Lucky nothing was damaged. I called the main office and told them what had happened and they were unwilling to assist in any way and actually thought it was funny. I would not recommend this company's products to anyone.

Strong Performer on FM and AM with Good Ergonomics.......2006-04-05

I've toted several radios to my work office, which thanks to thick concrete walls and all sorts of electronic gadgets, is a high-interference nightmare for all my AM/FM reception needs.

The Eton E10 is strong on all bands at home but in my office it gets weak FM. However, its saving grace is its strong AM, which performs even better than my big Grundig S350 and my Kaito 1103.

So I'm using my E10 as my sole AM receiver radio and my Grundig S350 for my FM needs.

For home use, the best PLL dual-conversion radio with presets is hands down the Kaito 1103, which has jaw-dropping FM sensitivity and beats the Eton E10 easily in the FM department. But for AM my E10 has been my strongest performer.

Update: I just bought a Grundig G4000, which is by far superior to the E10, both in reception sensitivity and speaker sound. The modern look of the E10 makes it tempting but don't be fooled: Get the Grundig G4000. It's as sensitive as my big Grundig S350 DL and that's saying a lot. Plus I've got preset memories.

Additionally, the Grundig G4000 separates AM stations better than the E10 and the S350. Here in Los Angeles 1150 gets two stations competing on the E10 and the S350, but the G4000 locks in on 1150 AM perfectly.
