Amazon.com Product Description

Designed specifically for high-performance corporate and multimedia installations, Panasonic's TH-37PWD7UY--a member of the company's seventh-generation Professional Series plasma displays--delivers high quality alongside flexible and expandable input options. The 37-inch widescreen monitor also offers horizontal/vertical image orientation and multi-screen options so you can create images as large as 74 inches in diameter (using 4 separate TH-37PWD7UY displays).

The monitor features super-high contrast (up to an amazing 4,000:1) and a native pixel count of 852 x 480 and can accept image inputs with resolutions of 1080p (24p/24sf), 1080i (50/60), 720p (50/60), 480p/i, and 576 p/i. It supports a range of PC input signals, including resolutions of VGA, SVGA, XGA, SXGA, and UXGA.

The TH-37PWD7UY is a display only, not a television per se, which means you'll need a DTV or cable set-top box fro any television programming you wish to view. It's also as basic as possible, beyond its many core display technologies, so you can tailor it to your application(s) without paying for features (like speakers) which you may well have no use for. The detailed user's manual provides an exhaustive list of optional accessories and their model numbers, from additional terminal (input) boards to assorted wall mounts.

The panel's multi-function slots let you swap out either or both of the existing terminal boards to accommodate variety of optional IT networking or audio/video input boards. Further, the display boasts significant improvements over previous Professional Series models in the areas of peak brightness (more then 10 percent higher than earlier generations), displayable colors, and service life.

Onboard picture-improving technologies include Panasonic's Real Black Drive System, a Deep Black filter, a Super Real Gamma System, Adaptive Automatic Gain Control (AGC), Motion Picture Disturbance (MPD) noise reduction, 3D color management, and active I/P (interlace/progressive) conversion.

The newly improved Super Real Gamma System reproduces gradations in brightness steps equivalent to 2,048 shades, with up to 8.58 billion colors to produce astonishing image depth and ultra-subtle nuances in dark scenes. A new Multi-facet Asymmetrical Configuration Hyper-pixel (MACH) panel features a bounded cell structure and new phosphor material that dramatically improves the panel's service life to 60,000 hours while boosting peak brightness and increasing the display's resistance to static-image burn-in to the level of CRT displays. (Panasonic defines service life as the period during which the display's light output is 50 percent or more of its original light output.)

Adaptive Automatic Gain Control (AGC) increases contrast while maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio; Motion Picture Disturbance detects motion patterns that generate noise and adjusts the image to maximum quality without diminishing the quality of stationary background objects; a 3D Color Management system provides finer independent control and corrects hue, saturation, and brightness; and Active I/P (interlace/progressive) Conversion reduces interlace-to-progressive conversion noise.

The Dual Picture feature combines any 2 audio/video signals and displays them in 3 different modes (2 picture-in-picture and 1 picture-out-picture modes); digital zoom enlarges a portion of an image up to 4 times normal size for full-screen display.

This ultra-thin (3.5-inch) display offers a wide viewing angle of more than 160 degrees, so it's easy to read even if viewers are sitting or standing well off-axis from a front-on view.

The panel is equipped with a host of energy-saving functions, and its Contrast Automatic Tracking System (C.A.T.S.) senses ambient light and adjusts brightness and gradation accordingly. The addition of "menu" and "enter" buttons to the front panel gives you control of onscreen display functions without recourse to using the supplied remote control.

What's in the Box
TV, remote control, remote batteries (2 AA), 2 ferrite cores (small, large), 2 fixing bands, a warranty card, a user's manual, and an AC power cord.

5 out of 5 stars Don't Know What your Problem Is !!.......2006-01-03

The 37 PWD as well as the 42 PWD Panasonic are wonderful panels. If your resolution is horrible, your source must be horrible. It is universially agreed in videophile circles and forums that these panels are the best buys available and are capable of remarkable picture quality. I have 2 of them and could not be happier. If you want confirmation take a look at the AVS forum and do some reading.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible resolution.......2005-11-28

Resolution is very low, awful really for a monitor labled "Pro" in the titel. New years resolution should be to offer 1080p (1920x1080) on All their monitors instead of tying to trick people into thinking that anything less is state of the art.

5 out of 5 stars This is a great router!.......2000-11-19

I used routers exactly like this when I was in my Cisco Networking Academy class. It was something that I used a lot and if you have the money to spend on it, this is great for ethernet networks weither you are running a tcp/ip network or an ipx/spx. This router even works with appletalk protocols.

2 out of 5 stars This model sucks.......2007-07-24

Recent years people have been saying DELL computers, desktop and laptop, deteriorated dramatically in quality and service is bad too. I don't know other models but this one sucks. I bought Dimension 2400 with 2.66 GHZ CPU, 40GB drive and 128 MB RAM with XP Pro. I did not see it too slow. The two USB port on front are located at bottom and it's awkward to use them even you put it on desk. When I tried to upgrade it problems happened. There are only limited connection port on the back. There are not many slots available for ungrading cards or RAMs. The total Max RAM can only reach 1 GB. There is only one Hard Drive bracket in the case. This scuks to the maximum. Only DELL parts can fit in and it took customer a lot of time to find out the part number. DELL ask $25-40 plus shipping for that damn metal bracket. A lot of people used a piece of metal from Home Depot to build their own bracket and installed a second drive.

1 out of 5 stars DELL DIMENSION 2400 slow as .......2007-03-06

I brought one of these 3 years ago. After installing sp2 this computer was slower than the Windows 95, pentium 100 I used to have( I know Windows xp is more powerfull than Windows 95,I am using this example to show the speed in releation to something else). I had a computer with like this one, 256 MB of 333MHz SD DDR RAM, 40GB hard drive and a better Intel(R) Celeron(R) 2.4Ghz cpu with 128K L2 Cache. This computer crashes a lot and you would always have your hands on the keys Ctrl-Alt-Del.The reason for this as I read is because of the low quality cpu in this model named Intel(r) Celeron(r) Northwood(r). This cpu only has a very limited anount of cache giving you very bad perfomance. You are likely to get better perfomance from a Pentium 3 in some cases. Also this computer has a intregated 64MB standard graphics card with no AGP slot, so you cannot upgrade to a dedicated graphics card. Even if you upgrade this computer with 1GB of RAM this will not work well with Windows Vista that well. Also a lack of a AGP port will disable you from Windows AERO ui. This is a very poor perfomance computer especially in 2007. I would recomend paying a bit more for a celeron d cpu or go with the craze of dual core machines. Intel(R) Pentium(R) D is really cheap and you get very good performance from it- I am using one now. If you are buying this I would recomend that you expand your RAM to 1GB.

5 out of 5 stars THE DIE HARD CPU........2007-02-08

I give this CPU a 5* Rating because.....

6 Years ago I bought this CPU and i have never hade a single prob wit it.
Ive neva had to call Coustermer Support.
And today FEB 7 2007 12:53PM as i right this Review i am useing the same CPU.
In my Words This CPU neva DIEs.
The only Upgrade ive gotten 4 it is 256 MB more RAM thats it.
So finally in my words i say this is the Best, longest lasting CPU out there.

              1 out of 5 stars Never buy a Dell..........2006-10-30

I purchased a brand new Dell from the manufacturer. Boy, was that a mistake! It worked great for a couple of months, then it started to reboot by itself over and over and over and over... It would take sometimes up to 1 hour of rebooting before it would come up. So we thought, we had a virus and fried the hard drive. When it came time to reinstall windows, we found out Dell sent the wrong disk. After about 30 minutes on hold with "John" who had an Indian accent, we got Dell to mail out the right disk. A couple of days later, we got it, only to find out that it didn't have all the drives necessary to go on the internet or run certain important Windows software. So we had to download them from the internet (good thing we had another computer to do that with). Everything was great for... oh for about 1 week, when it started up again... we could not turn off the computer without it rebooting itself again and again and again and again......... We called Dell, "Martha" who .. surprise! had an Indian accent couldn't help. Shocking, I know! This brand and their customer service is the most useless, worthless I've ever seen. Stay away from Dell no matter what. Oh yeah... the problem was never fixed.

1 out of 5 stars Dell has gone to *ell.......2006-10-27

Dude, don't buy a Dell. I bought Dell's years ago and they purred along for years. When I upgraded the computers in my office this time, I bought Dells - against the advice of my computer consultant.

When they came, they didn't work. I bought the deluxe service package - the one where they come on site if they need to. Here's how that works:

              1. If you call, 3 of 4 times you're on hold for 15 minutes, then there is a click and you're disconnected. 45 minutes on hold, then someone picks up the receiver and hangs up on you. If you call 40 times this will happen 30 of the 40.

              2. Once you get them, they will say it's a software problem and it's not their responsibility - call Microsoft. If you call Microsoft, they tell you that, since you bought it from Dell, they are the reseller, and you need to deal with them on all operating system issues.

              3. You call back to Dell, and they try to sell you more support and refuse to address the issue (after hanging up on you three times first).

              4. I finally called Geeks on Call - they looked at the machines - said it was a 'bad build' and that it was a Dell problem. I paid another $500 to them to get the machines running.

              5. I asked Dell for the money back for the service contract - they refuse.

When it first came out I'm sure it was pretty out stuff but in these times it just sucks the company even when under so yeah this one is a no no.

Where to start. The biggest complaint I have with this gamepad is that when using the D-Pad and trying to go left, it wants to go diagonal-left. This is a known issue with this gamepad (one that Gravis doesn't seem to care about) and is a big problem if you're playing a game that requires any sort of precision (like most of them). Nothing like going in a direction you didn't want to go or walking off a cliff.

The second biggest complaint I have is the software. It's the hokeyist software I've ever used. It would forget my button assignments, wouldn't save when I finished creating button assignments, and wouldn't recognize executibles consistently. In short, it didn't work. I'd be playing a game and suddenly the controller stops working. Bring up the software, no more button mappings.

I threw the gamepad away and bought a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 from Amazon and have had none of these problems.

It doesn't matter how ergonomically sweet this gamepad is.
It doesn't matter that its programmability is awesome in versatility and scope (--in _CONCEPT_, anyway).

                  What ultimately matters is,
                  1. HOW IT WORKS
                  and
                  2. DOES IT PLAY THE GAME?

I am on my second of this unit over the course of 4 years, and, like all these other great folks, my resounding answer is:

                  1. Pffffft.
                  2. NO.

Let me try to get all the wrongs in, and be brief (as others have listed more at length):

*D-pad has 'making distinction between directions' issues (pressing 'N' will yield 'NW', 'S' yields 'SE' or 'SW', etc.)

*front 'trigger/face' buttons (index and middle finger spots) have become increasingly non-responsive and require harder/deep pressing, over time...I worry they will stop registering altogether, at some point (1 nearly has)

*analog sticks get tweaky. That is to say: one or both, at whim, have electronically (not physically-the stick itself still is in the 'center' position) off-centered themselves grossly in one direction (say North, or West), causing a game character to continue moving, turning, running, or at times spin unstoppably in circles.
When I 'test game controller' under my computer Control Panel's Game Controllers section, the Gravis Eliminator Aftershock's crosshair markers depicted centered (or NOT, in this case) over the joysticks show this, happening. So it is not a matter of any certain game I'm using it with, or any Setting/Configuration profile within a game.
This problem began spottily, then increased in frequency and severity (as well as reliability in constancy...i.e., now it's a problem as soon as I start the game, _throughout_ the game, instead of starting out as being every once in a while) over time and use.

These issues make the Gravis Eliminator Aftershock unusable (unless, for 0-24 months' usuability, at roughly $30-40 a pop, you feel it is worth it to you)-
so therefore it's really unnecessary for the review to go much further, into the software nightmare-headache, and programmable interface hair-pulling chaos-maze.

[In short, assignment of functions gets cross-wired and re-sets itself if you accidentally assign a redundant axis to another analog stick or to the D-pad- even temporarily (on your way to going back to fixing that one)- which means you can program one stick, click "OK" to set it, go into another stick (or the D-pad) and begin to configure it, "OK"/save it, pop back out- only to find your settings for the 1st stick have re-set themselves.

Apparently in order to get around the Gravis applet's "helping" you (supposedly in the online manual it says this aspect is built in, to prevent you from cross-assigning/redundantly wiring functions and causing problems _IN_game), you have to perform a very precise, specific ritual sequence of programming, and then sequentially SAVING, each stick/D-pad's assignments, or else the applet mucks the whole thing up.
                  SO helpful.

It became so crazy that I was "saving" the game configuration in the applet after every miniscule change of button function or stick configuration alteration, out of paranoia.
                  Change BUTTON 1...
                  SAVE.
                  Close applet.
                  Re-open.
                  'Good, it's still there.'
                  Change stick 2's axis...
                  SAVE.
                  Close applet.
                  Re-open.
Check to see if stick 2 (as well as 1, & D-pad) axis config is still the same...
                  '#$%!'
                  Re-set stick 2 axis.
Make sure stick 2 axis is not redundant with either 1 or D-pad.
All looks good. ('So what's the problem?')
                  SAVE.
                  Close applet.
                  Re-open.
                  '@#$T%(&!!!!'

Okay; I said I wouldn't go into that, but I did.

Just so that the potential buyer will beware that on every front, in every aspect, [in my opinion] this gamepad is booby-trapped for you.

Since I was naïve & hopeful enough to purchase a second of these in 2 years (the first one died of the very same problems-primarily the analog stick issue)-(but I was hoping beyond hope it was a fluke, as this gamepad has a design & ergonomic configuration like no other I've seen so far), and the 3-year warranty isn't up on my 2nd one yet, I plan on exploring what expense might be involved in mailing it back, just to see if it's worth recouping my losses.
I _know_ whatever I get back won't last any much longer, but, it might extend the value, slightly, of my 2-units' worth of already-spent money.

Meanwhile, I'm shopping for where to put my $Real money into a game controller which has a reputation for functionality, reliability & durability, and for generally pleasing its users.

Bells, whistles, brilliant concepts and 'sleek' aside, bottom line for serious gamers is that is HAS to WORK.

2 out of 5 stars Response delays. Needs proprietary software to work ok........2006-05-18

For $8.90 I thought it was a good deal. It was ok at first but playing SNES emulator games there was a bad delay especially for the main 'b' button that is used to jump or flip which was very irritating. It works, but if you want to best game play with no frustrations, I recommended the Logitech Precision gamepad which is like $9 and no configuration is needed.

                  1 out of 5 stars Complete Garbage..........2004-11-05

I bought this before reading the reviews, which is unlike me. Once I saw the experiences the other buyers had had, I was nervous, but convinced myself that it would be fine. I run XP, so I downloaded the software from the Gravis site, installed everything, and tried a game. The D pad wouldn't work, despite the fact that I had downloaded the XP software. If this had been the only problem, I would have figured that I had just done something wrong, but the joysticks were awful! Half the time, I would move the joystick up, to move forward, and when I released it my character kept going forward. Not great when you're standing on the edge of a cliff. I found it impossible to get any kind of control over my game characters, not nearly enough to even consider being able to use the gamepad for games.

Another thing about the gamepad is that, although I tried it in the store, to get a feel for it, I decided rather quickly that, regardless of how it worked, it just wasn't right for my small hands (I'm female, and have exceptionally small hands). I can't call this a complaint, just a matter of personal preference.

When I viewed the "Read Me" file on this thing, and came to the section about "Known Bugs", I about had a heart attack at all of the problems this thing is "known" to have! After every single bug listed, they gave a completely lame, unsatisfactory "solution". For instance, one bug said that games often take a moment to respond to input from the controller. Their solution? "Please wait a moment after each button click, to give the game time to respond". Erm, sure; I'll just politely ask 200 Orcs to stop attacking me while Aragorn takes a moment to respond, no problem.

I'm not by any means an extremely serious gamer with unrealistically high expectations for my equipment; I just like to play sometimes, and want moderately sufficient results. This controller came nowhere near that, and I'll be returning it tomorrow morning, after only owning it for about 18 hours.
