Save space and enjoy a wonderfully vivid picture with the stylish, 50-inch Philips 50PF7320A widescreen plasma TV, a great choice for your full-featured entertainment center. It has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner for standard television broadcasts, and you can receive high-definition TV right out of the box with the optional, removable CableCARD, which picks up HD (ATSC) broadcasts from your digital cable provider (digital cable subscription required). This set includes a tabletop stand, but it's also wall-mountable with optional kit (VESA compatible). This plasma TV includes an anti-ageing circuit to help prevent screen burn-in and an anti-reflective coating on the screen.

This set uses Philips' exclusive Pixel Plus video processor to increase the number of lines and the number of pixels. The result is razor sharp pictures with incredible detail and dept, every time from any source.

The 50PF7320A has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 160-degree viewing angle, a 1500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and a 10000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) Other features include picture-in-picture display (via component and HDMI connections), auto volume leveler, adjustable color temperature and sharpness, sleep timer, and V-Chip parental controls.

The 3D comb filter separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. This set also performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.

The Active Control function uniquely and intelligently optimizes picture quality by measuring and analyzing the incoming signal to automatically adjust picture quality settings. Active Control with Light Sensor uses a sensor to adjust the picture brightness depending on the room light conditions.

This TV has two built-in stereo speakers that produce 15 watts per channel (for 30 watts of total power), and can produce Dolby Digital virtual surround sound, emulating a 5.1-channel sound field from just two speakers. It also offers the following connections:

CableCARD -- The CableCARD system enables the "Plug-and-Play DTV" functionality as agreed between cable operators and consumer electronics manufacturers. It allows the decoding of encrypted or scrambled content delivered from the cable system. CableCARD functionality includes conditional access and copy protection. A CableCARD-enabled television without a CableCARD inserted receives high-definition standard TV broadcasts. When a CableCARD is inserted, the television receives high-value high-definition, cable programming.

HDMI -- HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection.

PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS TV.......2007-09-08

I bought mine in January 2006. I was quite pleased with the set initially. In September 2007 the set started flickering; then it only the top half of the screen will show and then revert to a full screen after about 30 minutes.

Philips customer service cannot/will not help. A $3000 plus TV set ought to last for a little more than 18 months.

Please look at other brands and STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT. And, please Google Philips plasma tv sets and see what others are experiencing with Philips' products.

Too bad can't rate 0 stars.......2007-04-06

The product and service is as bad as the ebay seller we purchased from- admarkproducts who sold unit refurbished under fraudulent claim that it was covered by original manufacturer's 1 yr warranty. On delivery and for two months we tried to verify the new registration warranty status. Once we got it plugged in we found the sound board was fried - horrible noise. Philips call center reps continuously followed mindless script affirming our warranty, but their web page never updated. Impossible to get any other Philips contact information. Eventually a rep called us, left message informing unit we purchased is 'unauthorized refurb'. Finally, after some 2 hours on the phone to Philips rep in Manila, explaining situation and faxing the paperwork for the 16th time, another rep called back, apologized for confusion, out of 'courtesy' extended us a gratis 90 day warranty. Then we had to pull teeth to get the local town dealer to service the unit as they had severed ties with Philips. Great, they replaced the sound board. Now as of tonight, mid-movie, the unit shut itself off and nothing will blink but a red led under the screen. Here we go again. Philips website expands on this condition on a number of its units, providing the enlightening: 50PF7320A/37 Power/battery Question My set is dead, has no power, and/or the LED is flashing. Answer Unit likely is in need of repair. Call Philips contact center at 1-888-PHILIPS (1-888-744-5477) for further assistance.
Oh boy, can't wait to check how the weather is in Manila again. Or maybe Tierra del Fuego this time... All thanks to admarkproducts, the liar on ebay. Highly recommend paying extra for top notch warranty if you fall for this consumer failure.

Do Not buy!!!.......2007-02-24

I bought this tv refurbished from phillps outlet. It looked great. great picture. Worked for 2 days!!! Then same as others will not turn on, flashing red light. nothing works! Called factory service waiting for them to get back in touch with me. since no repair sites are within 50 miles of me, they cant have anyone come to fix it. I am out of there operating radius. Do not buy spend the extra money on a better tv!

50" philips plasma .......2006-12-15

We bought this 50" philips plasma tv as a factory refurbished model. I think whatever issues philips had with this model, they fixed in the more recent new (or refurbished) model.

I must have lucked out because, so far, it has been flawless. Hd programming comes in absolutely gorgeous. We saw POLAR EXPRESS in HDTV the other night, and oh my gosh! Sharp, stunning, eye-popping picture and digital 5.1 sound! FREE OVER THE AIR!!!! Also Pro sports ( like NBA or NFL games) are so cool! You can't believe how detailed the picture is! DVDs (after we figured out the correct connections and settings) are equally stunning. Especially cool are to watch some of those dvd's of old big screen epics, like NORTH BY NORTHWEST and BEN HUR and AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS. The detail and color are amazing!

The only major complaint is that I can't strike a happy medium between the hdtv channels and the regular channels. If I get the HDTV adjusted just right, then the regular tv channels look too dark. So, I have been tweaking the settings trying to balance it. I am close.. but I can't seem to get it just right.

A minor complaint is that this TV has a mind of its own! Most everything is automatic... but that isn't so great if you don't want to use the automatic settings. I know what looks right to me and I have turned off the automatic stuff, but then when I come back the next day (or turn the tv off then back on), the tv resets some of the settings back!

No Picture, No Service from Philips.......2006-12-14

Shortly after purchasing this model from Philips directly, we began experiencing drop-out of the picture for 10-15 second intervals. These continued and finally, the TV stopped turning on (or took several minutes to turn on). Red blinking lights on the front panel. Philips service was not hard to deal with, but when we got to the authorized service center, they could not even estimate when a part would be available. Philips was completely non-responsive, refusing to even discuss alternatives. We now have a dead set and no recourse. In fairness, when the set worked, it had excellent picture quality, but it is now a large, shiny object on the wall. If you buy a Philips product, follow some of the other advice and purchase it from a dealer with a no-hassle return policy; otherwise you may be very sorry!

This CD player works only if you are sitting absolutely still and breathing shallow. It's heavy, large and the headphones are junk. It does produce a good sound though and I think it works much better with the ESP off rather than on. There are much better products on the market for less money.

Giving this brand one star is too much. The first one I received the volume didn't work. I returned it and received a replacement. Well guess what, the second will not read ANY CD! I have learned my lesson with this brand. I will never purchase another product from this company. It is not worth the time and hasssle in my opinion. For anyone wanting to purchase a portable CD player, buy the extra few dollars and save yourself a headache.

I bought this CD player and it was a total waste of money!First of all, it skips on almost every song and you have topractically turn it off then on again to get it to work for a fewseconds and then skip again. Also, although it is called a"slimline", I can't even fit it into my huge cargo pocket onmy pants. The headphones are very crappy too; I had to buy another...pair!If you buy this you might as well just flush your [money] downthe toilet!

I bought two of these units for my kids to use on their bus rides to school. After a couple months the skipping became terrible. The sound was never clean- maybe a function of the flimsy headphones. In any case, I'm trying to get the things serviced by the company, but it doesn't look promising. As others have said, "Hello Sony!"

This product was soo cool...i had been looking for a cd player for a long long time and i finally found this one, it never skips even when u drop it and the esp makes it do ur music is crystal clear in the car. Its tiny and very lightweight so it wouldnt be drag to carry around. I really like it. it was good for the price

Buyer Beware.......2000-07-13

We purchased this machine because it looked like it had all the features we wanted at a reasonable price. You know that old saying "you get what you pay for," well we did! It lasted about 1 month at which time it started acting strange. One day it just stopped recording messeges, the next day it would and so on. This lasted about a week, then it just locked up. We are looking for a new machine now. Maybe you'll have better luck!

Inconvenient failure.......2000-06-29

This phone worked well for about a month. I travel a lot and it is very unreliable on the road. Twice in the past two months it has just shut off and deleted messages. Missed all my birthday calls! Now the machine has just stopped working. Receives calls and shuts off after 7 seconds. This was a waste of money, even if it wasn't expensive. Because now I have to buy a new one and for the two prices combined, I could have had a great machine!

This started out to be a good buy, but it only worked properly for three months. The small size and look are great. I also found it easy to use. Unfortunately, it has started cutting off all incoming messages after nine seconds. The manual states that it is suppose to allow for a sixty seconds message. After only three months of use we are forced to buy a new answering machine.
