Good printer, but won't work with Windows 2000 (or XP !!!).......2003-09-05

I had this printer for about 2 years and had absolutely no problems with it. I used it with an AMD Athlon cpu and Windows 2000 OS.

Unfortunately its Win2K driver is NOT compatible with Service Pack 4. As soon as you send anything to it Windows 2000 gets a BSD (blue screen of death) and reboots. Your only option is to uninstall SP4 (or don't install it if you haven't yet). Being that its a discontinued model I doubt Minolta will bother to release a new driver. I believe it still works with XP though.

Other than that its a very good printer.

**UPDATE 09/28/04**

Contrary to my above comments this printer WON'T work with Windows XP either! It just gives a COVER OPEN error. Fortunately Minolta allowed me to exchange it for a 1250W model which works fine with XP. Nice of them, considering that I bought it from a 3rd party vendor.

So unless you plan on only ever using Windows 98 DON'T buy an 1100L!

Drivers for Win 2000 don't work!.......2003-06-15

I've tried to use the printer with a win 2000 system. The driver supplied by Minolta is total crap! On a AMD Athlon@1GHz it uses 100% of the CPU-time for about 10 seconds just to print one page. In addition to wasting time the driver wastes physical resources because most of the time the first page of a printjob is just a black page. When I tried to get support from Minolta they just didn't care.

Fast and pretty, but ..........2002-09-07

The output is beautiful, it's very fast, and the price is right. However, there's no driver for Windows XP, and the driver doesn't handle remote printing over a home network well.

Single User Excellent results.......2002-03-02

I've been using this printer for about 16 months. I got it because it was a great price for a laser and I print lots of documents for graduate school. I had no problem with the installation (I'm running Windows ME) and the printer has been nearly flawless in its function (maybe jammed 3 times in 16 months). I don't use it on a network, virtually never print graphics or pics of any kinds. I read a comment about the power going out, but for a period of 6 months, I actually had to keep the printer unplugged all the time unless printing. I would then simply plug it into my computer, and into the power supply, and it worked fine, no need to re-install anything.

I think for a small office this is a good value any way you slice it.

Lots of problems on Windows XP.......2002-02-23

This printer does not supply stable printer driver for Windows XP. The only driver is version 0.22. Good number, even not greater than 1.00.

I try to contact Minolta tech-support and they gave me some instructions and I can not see any improvement on my printer. At least, they still rply you...

.... If you want to keep using Windows 9x, well, it is a good buy. Otherwise, you will get a lot of troubles on it.

...This is good product in such a price. I don't think that I can get a printer from HP or the other brand in this price. Especially, in such a bad economy season, I don't people want pay more money if they get the same thing....

I've burnt about 15 Audio CDS and 5 Data cds and they all have been flawless! The Nero burning software is easy to use and works great and the Auto-Decoding of Mp3's is saves a lot of time. The best value around!

This is an excellent product for the price! I don't know why other vendors are not challenged more by this great product. I installed and burned my first CD in less than 2 hours. This product is worth double the price.

Great, but for the jitters.......2000-01-17

I made a data CD first, no problem. But when I tried to make an audio CD, it came out extremely staticky. I think I figured out a workaround (when saving tracks to the hard drive, enable the "jitter correction" box...and then write the cd at 1X) But the help files are written in poor english, are contradictory, and confusing. But aside from all that, it's worked great.

I bought this CDRW for christmass and have made more than a dozen audio CDs. All work fine.

The software it came with is the best. I downloaded the update from their website and can now burn MP3s directly into an audio CD.

I must say, when I bought this CD Burner, I never really thought I could make my own CD's. Well, I did! The first time worked wonderfully and I have yet to have a problem! I swapped this CD ROM out for my original and it works the same so if you are looking for an "all in one" cd rom, this is it!

Piece of Junk - Quit working.......2007-07-06

I've watched a few videos with this just fine, but haven't had it that long and am not a heavy dvd user. Today it suddenly decided that all disks are bad disks and it won't play anything. This is a total piece of junk, it's only merit is that the cost is low enough to minimize your loss. But now I have a couple rented movies I wanted to watch and I won't be able to until I go out and buy another player. Avoid GPX.

GPX JUNK.......2005-01-26

I got a GPX CD player for Christmas and it broke the 2nd time I used. TARGET wouldn't exchange it becuase I didn't have a receipt (It was a dang Christmas present!) I called GPX and they wanted me to ship the player back to them which cost $10 and mail them a check for $15. So it would cost me another $25 to replace it. GPX makes lousy products. You would have to be a FOOL to buy this product.

When I first got the DVD Player for Chirstmas 2 years ago, I was amazed by the clarity of the picture. Then a year later, the player went bad, first stopped reading one dvd disc, then a few, now all. The player used to play those dvds but now cannot get a picture from the player. The DVDs could play easily in my PANASONIC DVD-LV750 PORTABLE much better than the GPX product. A portable simply did better than this product, that is no excuse. Simply, the product went bad just like many cheap, off-brand items do.

as good as component video dvd players.......2002-07-14

i mainly was using this for the karaoke features, but when i compared the svideo output against my toshiba sd1600 that has component video outs hooked up to my toshiba 65" hdtv widescreen, i saw no difference. i looked at the same movies, same scenes and the picture was great!!! i was truly amazed. plus it has vcd, svcd and karaoke features that my toshiba didn't have. now my toshiba sd1600 is collecting dust while my gpx gets shelf on the entertainment center!

Much Better Than Expected.......2001-01-26

I bought his a week or two before Christmas. I wasn't expecting much -- I'd never even heard of GPX -- I mainly picked it up because it was the cheapest one there and it had a 3x zoom. Let me tell ya', it's a very good player and well-worth the [$] I paid for it. The picture is sharp and the sound is much louder & clearer than anything I've ever heard on a VHS. There's even a pointless karaoke option for when you are drunk and want to embarrass yourself in front of friends & family.

Now it's not perfect, on the newer DVDs -- ones with the dual-layer format -- your always going to get a slight pause an hour-something into the movie when it switches over to the second layer. I'm not positive; but I believe almost every low/midrange player that doesn't have a dual-laser reading thing is going to do this when it switches layers. I wouldn't say this is even that annoying though -- the people putting the movie onto DVD know this and make sure to place the layer switch during a scene break or something. I have 27 DVDs at the moment and none of the dual-layer ones have layer switches during action scenes/when people are talking, or anything like that. Basically, if you blink at the right time; you might miss it altogether.

Now on the plus side, I really like the 3x zoom option. I always make sure to get widescreen versions because you can just hit the zoom button which makes it fairly close to the TV format. The 3rd zoom is kind of pointless though -- none of the DVDs I've played have enough picture quality to show a decent picture on 3x (I doubt many do at the moment).

The only other thing I can think to point out is that you might want to turn it off for about 15 minutes between movies to let it cool down. I had a few very slight freezes once near the end of Saving Private Ryan, and I think the player had been on for about four hours. I have to attribute it to being on so long since that's the only time it's happened.
