Not an Elite, but still great!.......2002-10-27
I was forced into buying a new Laserdisc player after my previous Pioneer Elite CLD-79 was struck by lightning and subsequently destroyed. Sadly, the Pioneer Elite DVL-91 is no longer available, so I settled for this. As it turns out, however, I was not settling at all. This is a great player! The picture quality is not quite as crisp as my previous Elite, but it is still fantastic on both LD and DVD. Most aspects have been improved. LD side change time is roughly half of my old Elite player, sound is better, and LD spin up is faster. My only real quibble is that the remote control was apparantly designed by someone who hates people. Buttons are arranged seemingly at random. Even after several months of ownership and use, I still have to take a long look at the remote before I venture a push of the buttons. The design of my previous player's remote control was far, far superior.
One other thing: upon receiving delivery of my player, I found that the laser was bad and was in need of replacement. It was taken to an authorized Pioneer service center where the laser was replaced swiftly, free of charge, and with no fuss. Many months later, it still works perfectly! I appreciate Pioneer's service. On my previous Elite LD player, which was hit by the lightning, the Pioneer service center I took it to worked tirelessly for weeks trying to fix it. In the end, they failed, but they also did not charge me for the work they did. Thanks again!
This is my third Pioneer laser video product. Based on my experience so far with my Pioneer LD player (rest in peace), mini DVD player, and new DVD/LD player, I would never purchase a laser video product from any other company.
Better Remote than the DVL-909.......1999-09-09
This unit has a better remote than the previous DVL-909. I believe it offers more value at it's initial offering price than the 909. This unit covers laserdisc and dvd just about equal to my way of thinking, although, if one wanted exceptional, nth degree perfection, opting for a higher end single medium type player would be my recommendation.

MADE IN CHINA JUNK.......2005-09-11
HAD THIS CAMERA FOR 1 YEAR, ONLY TOOK 25 PICTURES OF MY GRAND CHILDREN,WHO LIVE 775 MILES FROM ME,WENT BACK 7 MONTHS LATER, TOOK 10 PICTURES, & CAMERA QUIT. CALLED HP & GOT NO ANSWERS AT ALL, NOW I AM STUCK WITH A CAMERA & DOCK THATS NO GOOD FOR NOTHING. LAST HP PRODUCT I WILL EVER BUY.

I can only review the camera, because I didn't get the "7760 Photo Printer" stuff along with it. I got this camera about half a year ago, and it worked quite well. However, unless you use full optical zoom, the edges of the photos are bent outwards. This camera also eats batteries much faster than my Kodak DX6340 did. I had a problem with the software that came with my camera so I have to use the Kodak Easyshera software instead. Also, this camera records audio videos, but you can only hear the audio on the computer.
Through all this, this camera is still good if you can get a good price.
BUT MY MAIN PROBLEM IS THIS: HP doesn't offer good warrenty service. When after I had this camera for about half a year, it stopped working, still in warrenty. I went onto HP LiveChat support online and since the people there are from India, it was hard to communicate with them, even online. After confusion and a long wait (about two weeks), they finally sent me a camera that was broken which they "fixed into perfect working condition" after saying that they would send me a new one. This camera was still broken when I got it, and they later told me that they only send refurbished ones. I told them this camera was also broken, but they couldn't send me another replacement until they recieved the first broken camera. Even after that and my continued contacting them, they kept on saying "I am sorry. You will get the confermation e-mail shortly." They never sent it and I waited two months without a working camera. Finally, the camera they sent me started working, even though it still doesn't look as good as new.
HP couldn't help but leave me without a working camera for so long even though I was under warrenty.
IN CONCLUSION:
If you want a decient camera for cheep and don't care if you may not have a working camera for a while, this camera is a good buy (if you don't mind the other things I mentioned above also).

I love this card stock. I wish I could find it in larger quantities. It is better than all of the other papers I have purchased over the years.
It is perfect for greeting cards, but not really suitable for photos unless you don't mind the ivory color changing the colors in your photo. It would be great for sepia toned photos.

I have made many greeting cards, but I never thought they were up to par with professional cards until I printed them with this paper. I wasn't sure that the textured paper would print well for the pictures, but it turns out very nice. I'm buying 3 more boxes and using this exclusively now.
Nice paper, but not good for complex pictures.......2002-11-21
I was looking for invitation paper - not for a wedding, but close to it. My invitation includes both a simple cover picture and an inside complex picture. The simple picture prints fine on this paper, but the complex one was disappointing. It took me a while to realize that I needed the coating found on other photo papers. This is a very nice textured heavyweight card, but don't use it for complicated pictures. Both the ridges and the lack of coating will render it useless. The poor-quality picture was a portrait with trees in the background. For text and very simple pictures, a nice choice. It is a shame because it is hard to find nice ivory colored paper.
HP Greetings Are Excellent.......2002-10-29
I needed to print some wedding invitations, so I was looking for a very high-quality ink-jet card stock. HP to the rescue. The ivory tint and the textured surface lend the perfect hint of elegance, while not being overly expensive. The printed results are excellent. Just the right amount of ink absorption to produce professional results from a high-quality ink-jet printer.
Pros: Heavy stock for excellent feel and presentation, excellent ink absorption characteristics, ivory color for less "bright" results, textured for added elegance. Matching envelopes are included.
Cons: Heavy stock makes paper feeding more difficult on some printers, the pre-scoring is not centered; folds are not perfect halves (unless you prefer the offset fold, of course), HP logo is obvious; make sure you feed the stock in the correct direction or you will have the HP logo competing for attention with your artwork.
Overall this is a superior product and this stock helps produce beautiful results.
Wonderful card stock.......2000-12-28
Wow, is this wonderful stuff. I've been making all our cards for some time now usually on quarter fold stock. I wanted something more professional looking for this year and based on another review decided to try this paper. What a difference. The card stock is very heavy, with a distinct ivory tone and textured feel. On my printer, this coloration did not cause any distoration in picture colors. I printed a card with several pictures on it and the results were remarkable. I got many compliments from friends & family members on the results. The only difficulty I had was in feeding both the card stock & the envelopes due to my HP 882 printer. The printer is just marginally able to feed this type of heavy stock & required a monitor to sit there and carefully hand tweak to be sure that the printing went well. This is clearly not a failing of this paper, but a caution to other users to watch the feeding.

I loved this DVD player and all its functions. As others have said however after about 6 months it began skipping, etc. I opened the unit and found that there had been very little care taken while the unit was assembled, and specifically in the area of the ribbin cables. I figured that the skipping, etc. was caused by the units inability to recognize the data, or more accurately, a break in the ribbon cable that connects the main board to the digital reading device. The "eyeball" that reads the data has to move in relation to the medium (disk) while the unit is operating, and that can only be done by either moving the disk back and forth or by moving the reading device. This requires a flexible ribbon cable that can handle the different data, one that has multiple conductors. Now, all wires that are made of a metal, in most cases copper, have only a certain "flex life" if you will. In my case, the ribbon cable had been bent so severly during its installation that after only a few cycles of the player breaks began to occur in one or more of the conductors. This is evident in how the disks are able to be read from the beginning and then start skipping and or resetting at some point in the reading process. This will also occure at approximately the same place on all medium. When the reading device is moving out toward the edge of the disk the cable is stretched into a slightly different configuration, and the angle of the cable is different. If there is a break in one or more of the conductors the data will be interupted when the conductor stops conducting, in essence when the conductor is not touching itself on the other side of the break.
I am looking for a replacement ribbon cable. The cable has the following markings to identify it: KFC AWM 20696, and is rated at 80C, with additional rating of VW-1. If anyone can track down this ribbon or the manufacturer please contact me Robert Wuesthoff [...]. The 20969 should be the identification from the manufacturer which is associated with the abbreviation KFC. My guess is that the ribbon is a 20 conductor cable.
OVER A YEAR AND STILLS PLAYS GREAT.......2004-12-29
i bought mine reconditioned on ebay for $40 over a year ago and it still works ok. have had a few minor freezing/skipping problems with older rental dvds due to scratches. i am replacing it only because it doesnt like to play region 0 dvd imports. i have used this player all the time and really got my moneys worth. maybe when it was reconditioned the glitches everyones else has had were fixed.

The operations that do work are extremely slow. Not sure if the remote doesn't work or if so much time passes between pressing a button and the action that I've gone on to something else.
Won't read dvd +R discs even though they are the recommended Verbatim brand. GoVideo customer service insisted I had bad discs and even talked me into swapping the discs out at Office Depot despite the fact that I've purchased hundreds of discs and not yet had a "bad disc" yet. After the unit failed to read the new discs, they told me to swap the unit out and that "yes maybe the constant disc skipping during playback had something to do with the problem".
2nd unit even slower, disc drawer sounded like a rusty screen door when closing, machine audibly hick upped while playing a disk and skipped worse than the first unit... oh, and still won't read DVD+R discs on which it supposed to write thus it's name "DVD Burner"... puzzled how this product got off the development line and into stores.
Do not buy this product. It's almost comical, except it cost $300 +!

the quality was good when working. i have purchased two in the last year,dummy me.the first one they had me convinced that i had mishandled it and that was the reason that it was locking up.so dummy me bought a second one and it is doing the same thing!imagine that!i called customer support they will repair it for 69.95plus shipping and handling geez i only paid 70.00dollars for it.stay away from this unit!it is a throw-away unit.with zero customer support,will fix it for what you paid for it.take it from somebody who knows,two units 70.00+ 70.00+25.00dollars for a cleaner.so i guess i'm out 165.00 dollars and still no dvd.i guess you learn from your mistakes and i did.please do not buy.maybe they will get this garbage off the shelves.product has a 30 day warranty , the first one lasted 45days.
