Customer Reviews:
bad investment.......2007-08-07
I wished I had read all of the reviews for this when I bought mine two years ago. It is worse than a piece of junk because I paid too much money for it and it is useless. The buttons are not easy to use, when I think I am turning it up, I have somehow skipped to the FM radio and cannot seem to get back, other times it seems to cycle through the same 5 songs for no apparent reason. I am still very bitter about spending so much money for a worthless piece of junk - not to mention all the time I have spent trying to make it work.
Does have defects.......2007-05-15
As most who bought this one knows the battery door did indeed break on my sons. It skips and freezes really bad. He still uses it but I do not think it would hurt his feelings if it got stolen at school! lol
terrible.......2007-04-21
electrical short kills cheap-med quality head phones! i lost four before i figure out the problem. and no, it was not just one player. i returned it and got a new one, and it did the same thing. I gave it a 2 and not a 1 because it records radio very well.DO NOT BUY!
Progressively Worse.......2007-04-09
At first I thought it was a pretty nice little MP3 player, although the 60 songs it holds has always been a thorn in my side. I didn't mind converting everthing over to real player since it doesn't play itunes, however, after about three months I had to change the battery...After changing the battery, the mp3 player would randomly shut off, which became a constant problem after every battery change, though eventually the problem would solve itself. Approximately a year later, the battery cover was also constantly falling off for no apparent reason. Now, about a year and a half since purchase, it has completely died, only playing about two minutes worth before shutting off on its own and refusing to reboot for several minutes. It's a great player for the price, but I would have liked something a little more dependable with a larger memory.
NO RESUME!!!.......2006-09-08
The title says it all. If you bought this player for listening to audiobooks, which is what I did, you'll be extremely disappointed that you'll have to fast forward through the book every time you start it up since there is no resume feature. Considering audiobooks are anywhere from 3 to 8 hours long in most cases, or at least the pieces you get from audible are, it's totally inconvenient to start playing from the beginning each time you turn it on. Get used to the fast forward button and remembering exactly what time you were at because you're going to be doing a lot of it. Lame.

Too Much Time & Effort.......2005-07-13
I've had this unit less than a year, and used it twice. I have average knowledge of computers and add-on's, and had an RCA Lyra prior to this one.
One of the selling points was a 256 with an expansion card, but it took a trip to the seller for an exchange and 8 hours at the computer trying to figure out how to get music on the card (it's different than the other Lyra). When it plays it goes from the internal to the external memory without any manual pressing of buttons, but when you download, you have to manually change from internal to external memory and trying to figure that out was tricky. After the second trip to the store I finally realized that I had to download a newer version of the firmware from the site. I would have thought that a brand new unit would have the updates already installed to perform the functions advertised on the box and web site.
It does work with Windows Media so that's a plus but it's alot easier to delete the songs than add them.
Support wasn't any help, in fact it's pretty nonexistant. The web site contains an additional copy of the instructions, which aren't much. You have to ask your questions through e-mail. I wrote them last week about the maximum size of an expansion card because I'd read that 512+ cards wouldn't work. They wrote back two days later and said to call customer service and gave a long-distance number with hour restrictions.
Even once you get past all the above, the manual setup of the buttons are not very good. The on/off button and the play/fast forward button are on opposite sides and if you press play or fast forward you have to be careful not to turn it off or profile the unit again. The music has to be profiled before it can play. You can do it on the unit but it's done with the same button you use to play. If you're not careful you can wind up profiling the unit several times before you get it to play.
The ear clips are not user friendly. They fall off easily. The sound is OK. The unit in size is pretty bulky, it's 2 in. wide, 3 inches long and 1 inch deep. The expanision card sits out of the unit on top almost 1/4 inch out of the unit and looks like a good hit will break it off. There's an arm band and a lanyard in the box. I was hoping more for a small belt clip. The lanyard allows the unit to hang down to your waist and allows it to swing back and forth too freely.
For the features and the ease of operation, I would expect it to be cheaper. I would caution against buying an RCA Lyra unless they've revamped their units completely, you've had experience the hard way or have the time and inclination to sit and try to figure it out. Between buying an additional memory card & new headphones there are other 1GB flash players that are easier to operate, smaller and cheaper.
Wonderful device !!!!.......2005-06-16
This MP3 player is a very god choice if you just want a simple, light and small device. Downloading is very easy and the software included with the package, Musical JukeBox, is really great to manage your files. You can transfer your favorites CDs in MP3 format on your personnal computer within minutes.
Headphones are not incredibly confortable, but OK. The sound quality is great compared to other players. If your files are from high quality recording, power isn't an issue. I haven't used the FM receiver that much, but you need to be quite close to a good reception to enjoy this feature. When you can, you can record good songs from the air.
Basic sound options are available, but equalizers are well balanced by default. Managing files with the player's intern software is very simple. It is easy to find a song you are looking for within hundreds of files.
Finally, if you are looking for additional memory, buy a low priced SD card. I got a 1 Go card for about 65 $. Extern memory is much less expensive than default intern memory, so it's better to buy seperate cards than having a 512 Mo player for a much higher price.
NOT USB 2.0 Compatible.......2005-04-11
This player is advertised as USB 2.0 and it is NOT USB 2.0. The transfer rates are very slow, they act like USB 1.1. Other than the poor transfer rates this is a good player. Tech support personel for RCA / Thompson are dumb as rocks. They tried to tell me the audio bitrate of an mp3 affects the transfer rate from computer to the portable device. They also said that MusicMatch made the trasnfers faster which is not true as well, as the device is made for drag and drop functionality. If you want USB 2.0 DO NOT buy this player. Couldn't ask for a better 1st MP3 player........2005-04-03
I did a little research on MP3 players and found this to be the best choice for the price. I love the fact that it is near-infinitely upgradeable through the SD memory card expansion slot. Not only does this allow me to fit insane amounts of songs on it, I can also use smaller memory cards to load music for which ever mood I am in without having to erase everything and start all over. Just switch memory cards and I am set to work out, snowboard, chill out, or get crazy within seconds instead of a half hour or so. I was also hyped to find out that this player can load my music into seperate folders based on nearly anything, artst, album, mood, tempo, are just a few. The Musicmatch juke box program that came with the player was a little tricky to use, and I am dissappointed that I am as of yet I am unable to transfer music from Real One player to Music Match. I understood in the manual that I can take other music files and transfer them to MP3 Pro format with Music Match. Perhaps I just need more time to figure it out or I just misunderstood the manual.
I had read the reviews and some people think the controls are a little clunky, but I find them to be extremely easy to use. The only thing I would have liked to see is a waterproof model and maybe a slightly slimmer design. In regards to battery life I have used mine for at least 50 hours and am still registering all three bars on the display for the AA that came with it.
I would highly recommend this player to anybody.

Customer Reviews:
That Image is WRONG.......2007-09-21
I bought this unit based on the image of the product, not realizing that someone has mistakenly posted the Dell UltraSharp 2007FP image for the 2007WFP. As a consequence, I had to ship it back, and the supplier kindly sent me the 2007FP, but it got destroyed in shipping. It cost me a bunch of money for shipping and wasted a whole month's time. I finally had to go to Dell to get what I wanted.
Review for 2007FP.......2007-07-13
I don't see the full-screen 2007FP on amazon... so I'm going to write the review here, on the widescreen product page.
The 2007FP is an excellent monitor, I bought 2 directly from Dell and have them side-by-side on my desk. They are sleek, bright, crystal clear... I would recommend to just about anyone. If you're looking for something to play video games on, the ms response isn't the highest out there, but I do play xbox on one of them occasionally and I don't notice any problems with the display (some claim otherwise)
Great display but use DVI with Powerbooks etc.......2007-06-08
I wanted a display for my screen writing so I could see three pages on one screen, plus, plugged into my Powerbook, I can have the "index card" view on that screen. It's an amazing set up.
I wasn't happy with the way the color or fonts were until i brought the mini DVI to DVI connector.... WOW!! SOOO much better. Throw out that analog connector you get with the PB!!
This LCD display uses the same panel as the Apple Cinema display but uses a different lamp, so you are basically getting the same screen for half the price.... the only draw back is the bezel doesn't match the color my AI Book(!) but who cares!!!
pretty, but not a monitor for photo editing.......2007-03-10
After reading that these monitors were made by the same manufacturer that makes the Apple Cinema displays, I purchased this monitor to replace my dying CRT. While watching DVDs nice and widescreen was a pleasure, I quickly noticed some problems that led me to return the monitor and go back to the drawing board.
The four corners of the monitor had bright spots like a light leak at each corner, and the contrast adjustments were insufficient to calibrate the monitor for photo editing, with shadows that were too dark. Reducing contrast so reduced the overall brightness that everything took on a grey muddy feel. After fiddling with it for a week, I returned the monitor and am back on the hunt.
Loved the look, the swivel screen, controls were easy to figure out, screen was nice and sharp and color was tasty, but this is not a budget alternative to a higher end display for anyone interested it using it for photo editing.
Good deal on an S-IPS monitor!.......2007-02-01
This monitor is one of the best models you can buy for the money! The S-IPS monitors are getting rare these days and are more and more replaced by the cheaper to manufacture TN-Panels. S-IPS panel monitors are known to have excellent viewing angles and color reproduction. They are most suitable for photo/ video editing.
The earlier models (Rev. 02) of the 2007wfp monitors had some problems with banding issues. These issues seem to be mostly fixed in the Rev. 03 models. There have been 2 different panels used in this monitor. S-PVA and S-IPS. The S-PVA panels are also very good, but have slightly different specs.
To find out what panel your 2007wfp has, you can go into the monitor setup menu:
1- Turn off your screen
2- Press simultaneously the 'Menu' and '+' button of the screen.
3- While holding the 2 buttons, press now the 'Power' button.
4- Once the screen in ON, unpress the 3 buttons.
5- Just press '-' button.
You can run a search on the panel code that is listed in the menu and find out what you received!
Best of luck!

Customer Reviews:
Disappointed! Wouldn't buy again........2007-02-13
This worked great for about 3 days. Then it sporadically wouldn't be recognized. I had to keep reformatting it. Now it would be totally wothless other than I salvaged a little frustration by mounting the hard drive internally in the computer and that works well. I think the problems are with the enclosure.
Awesome - dont know why other hate it.......2007-02-01
I have had this for 1.5 years now. It was my first external, which I followed up with my buying a 250gb WD. Its so awesome and easy to use. I treat it like dirt, and it still runs perfectly, it rarely has more then a few megabytes of space left on it and frequently sits in my trunk in harsh buffalo winters. If you can find it for $60-70 and need an external, grab it right away.
A totally unreliable product.......2007-01-12
The rate for this product should be -10. I bought this external hard drive in 2004, saved a couple of files, and used it sporadically (I have other hard drives... different brand though). After 1 and a half year the product started failing (bad sectors), and after 2 years I got more bad sectors. I can't even format the disk. The warranty of this product is 1 year, and the only advice of their customer service is to buy a new one. They told me that to repair the product would cost more than buying a new one. Now it's a piece of junk in my room.
Its OK........2006-03-16
I really dont think its wise to write a review until after you've had a product for a while. I bought this machine online about a year and a half ago.
It still runs. It runs like a rock actually.
Its fairly fast and doesnt give me much hassle.
The key word is much.
About a year after I bought it...The drives light just mysterioulsy turned red and the entire drive froze. I couldnt access files or anything. I then ran a series of diagnostics on it. Some files and clusters had mysteriously gone bad. Part of the drive couldnt work anymore. I lost a sleu of mp3s. I didnt lose all my collection, just part of it. I managed to rescue it, so that only a small percentage of the files were lost.
The drive still runs perfectly. It never makes grinding noises and is still as fast as when I bought it. Im just a little scared of its stability.
Not quite what I was hoping for.......2005-11-24
Does serve as a reasonable data backup disk, but sometimes produces errors when copying files. I cannot use it as a startup disk.
Later - I am just experiencing too many disk problems with the product. I cannot recommend it at all.
Revised summary: Totally worthless.
