AWFUL!.......2007-09-22
This product is such a great idea.... but that's as far as it goes. My husband bought this for me for my birthday and we went through 2 of them that didn't even work and didn't load on either of our computers. Finally we gave up and just got our money back. One of them wouldn't even save the videos we were recording. What a bummer!
Ultra Flip Review and walkthrough.......2007-09-17
I'm a computer artist and animator and I haven't been happy with a lot of cameras. I was drawn to the Ultra Flip because of the lack of wires, I like the idea of the USB stick. They include a set of batteries with the package so you can start recording right away (as well as a little velvet drawstring bag). It was very easy to use, it's just as promised, click the red button to record (and to stop) then flip (ha-ha) the USB stick out and put it in your computer's USB slot.
I read a reviewer of another model of the Flip saying he needed an extra part to hook up his USB, I don't know what he was using but you don't need any middleman if you have a current USB port. Of course it might have been that he didn't feel comfortable with the camera sort of weighing itself down a bit when you have the USB attached to a tower. I'm using mine with a laptop which is on a table so the camera can rest comfortably on it. He might have gotten a USB extension so that he could set his down if he was using a desktop computer. I did try the flip out in my desktop and I did have to make sure that the dog didn't jump around it as it does feel sort of vulnerable, but I will mainly use it in my laptop.
After you have it in your USB port, you will then go to "my computer" and see a new blue icon (unless you're Mac, you'll see a folder for you instead), click it and it installs the program - which seems to run on the stick alone, not taking up any space on your system, although it does put a small encoder on your system.
(Side note: - I did try to click "explore" before I installed the program to see if I could just drag the videos directly to my desktop by passing the program, and while you can save them, you can't see the videos). You have to go through the program to save them to your computer and be viewed properly.
So after you have installed the program, click "flipvideo" from your "my computer", then click "Flip Video for PC.exe" to open the program. It's very simple, you will see your videos and on the left you'll see a "save video" tab, here you can select what video(s) you want to move to your hard drive and then click the save button - they call it saving to your library, they will ask you to name a library, which will end up being a folder that holds your videos, which you will find in your documents as "My Flip Video Library".
After you have done this, you can then open them normally (outside of the program using just a player). They will be saved as AVIs.
They also have a "share video" section where you can upload your movies straight to Youtube, AOL or any video sharing website. Sounds good, but I haven't tried it yet. Now you can make a "movie mix" which is basically adding an effect to your video (slowed down in black and white or cartoon fish floating about etc. - no editing). It's very (very) simple, but it's cute.
They include a little plug that connects your Flip straight to your TV. Use your remote to find your 'line', 'input' or 'source' button to find it, click a few times, you'll see the first still of your video when you've got it right. Then hit play, now it wasn't clear in the instructions, but you want to hit play on your Flip (not the TV), to watch your video on your television and it looks great!
They also have an option to 'save for email' - if you do this it will save the videos into a folder "Flip videos for emailing" on your desktop that you can then send as attachments. When I did this it sped up the sound (think Mickey and Minnie) while the footage remained at normal speed (now don't worry, this doesn't happen when you save the videos to your computer as discussed above). This is probably a compression problem, but we can't fix it in their program, so I won't be using that option again - I'll stick to the 'save to library' option. It also does this for the ecard videos. There is an option to send the video as an ecard with cute little borders around them, recipients are sent a link to see the card, but again when played the sound is sped up.
In spite of that (cuz it's worth it), I have found my video camera, it's so small and light, there are no plugs or cords, it takes great videos, no tracers, no little pixel smudges and the lighting is great. I took one outside at dusk and it looks nice. This thing records twice as long as my bulky handycam and I don't have to format any disks or plug in a bunch of stuff. The picture quality of the Ultra Flip videos is really amazing, my other cameras (handycam, Creative labs, the onboard Vaio and VIJE) do not hold a candle to the Flips quality. I'll be using it for video projects. I am very happy with the Ultra Flip and will be bringing it along with me for a family visit. I recommend it! Yes, I flipped for it!

I liked the first generation iPod shuffle better. It was small enough and it could be used as USB flash drive without carrying shuffle specific USB cable. I do not see single advantage of second generation iPod shuffle over the first one.
Ipod Shuffle 2nd Genatation.......2007-09-22
I purchased for my wife but I am the one that maintains it since my wife is a technophobe. My wife likes the small size and easy controls because it's great for her to take to the gym and on her walks. It is relatively easy to install but requires you at least have ITunes 7.0. In my opinion loading songs is not very intuitive and I know my wife would not be able to do it. I don't like that you can't tell what song is playing because there is no readout. I don't like that you have to actually copy songs from a cd to your computer to download to the device instead of just being able to load a cd and drag songs from the cd. The songs you add have to remain on your computer or the next time you connect the device to sync the songs you previously loaded will be erased. And the songs have to remain checked in ITunes or they will be erased. You have to buy a separate charger if you don't want to have to use the docking station which has to be connected to your pc therefore using a usb connection. Also, it has no radio tuner. It is for all these reasons I only give it a 2 rating. As I said my wife likes it but I would not recommend it.
Orange shuffle rocks my walks!.......2007-09-22
I absolutely adore my orange shuffle for a number of reasons: its tiny, lightweight size, sturdy metallic encasing, vibrant color, Zen-like simplicity, clear sound quality, generous battery life, and ability to clip anywhere (I clip mine into my jeans pocket). In fact, I love mine so much that I got one for my partner, a painting contractor. In fact, she loves it so much for work that she wants a second one! I just ordered the new Product Red shuffle for her through the Apple Store. One shuffle has her rock, and the other will have all one artist. The 1GB of space is more than enough for a gadget with no screen. Honestly, I don't want a screen when I use my shuffle. That's what my 8GB nano is for. Between my walks with the dogs, watering the yard, and my partner's painting business, we both could not be more elated with our shuffles. Except for the cord on the cradle, this is the PERFECT music machine.

The iPod is efficiently designed and easy to use. The thumb control is simple and can be used without looking at it. The manual is written in English by an English-speaking person! This is fairly remarkable, in the technology world. I love my iPod so much, that I bought one for my partner.

GOOD little PLAYER.......2007-09-17
Many of the negatives written about the Zen are true. It does lock up (esp if you try to scroll too fast), you DO have to install software on your computer and learn how to use it (duh), and it's not quite as sexy as the brand name iPod, but I think for it's particular market niche it is a good little player and stands up well against the Apple products. I for one LOVE my little Zen. (note: resetting the Zen is easy, installing/learning the software was not difficult, and for the $200+ price tag of an iPod, I can live with the loss of prestige).
The keyword here is "little". It is truly small (about the size of my car alarm remote) and of negligible weight, so I can comfortably and securely wear it around my neck like a necklace without special cases, pouches, armbands, or pockets built into my jacket or backpack (though all of these accessories are available for those that feel a need for them). Because of this compact, lightweight design, I tend to carry ("wear") my Zen more often than other players and so it has become my favourite.
Secondly, the fact that it is inexpensive (I won't say "cheap") is actually a big plus for me because I am not constantly afraid of damaging it as I would be a more expensive player. I tend to "wear" my Zen through some rugged use (workouts, hiking, traveling, skiing, etc) and it has held up perfectly so far (!), but I am not over-worried about it.
I don't use mine for audio books, so I can't speak to the "bookmarking" problem. I mainly enjoy a large collection of my favourite music which can be nicely categorized into handy playlists, like an energetic workout list, a mellow relaxing list, by music genre, by artist, or even play an entire "album" in it's original order. I love this feature because I can rock out when I want to, or play some quiet background pop when my Mom is in the car... LOL. The Zen has brought a lot of additional joy to my life, hearing my favourite music, esp when sitting around waiting or traveling long distances.
Battery life is impressive. I've gone on entire 3-day weekend trips without it quitting on me. It charges from any USB port (cord included) and has an optional car adapter (an after market NECESSITY).
With a few minor accessories (a USB power cord, a car power adapter cord, a car "cassette" adapter, a protective silicone shell, waterproof earbuds), I have tricked my Zen out to fit very well into my life and my uses. Perhaps I am just not a demanding customer, but I think that the Zen is a very nice little player for an excellent price. I am very happy with mine and I would confidentally recommend it.
Very disappointing.......2007-09-15
I returned this item right after I bought it. I own two Ipods already and wanted to buy another MP3 player for the kids. I figured I'd try another product and the price was right, but you get what you pay for. I followed the instructions, connected the player, the device was recognized by my computer only intermittently. The device also froze up and had to be reset. The software would freeze up when running and crash as well. I went to Creative's website, tried their troubleshooting help to no avail. After a couple of frustrating hours, I've given up. Too much effort. I'm buying the new Nano....
Great, cheap, and simple to use!.......2006-12-07
I would highly recommend this player as an alternative to an Ipod. It's much cheaper, is easy to use, and is small.
I wasn't looking for an mp3 player to do my dishes, laundry, and cook for me like many of you who post reviews on this product seem to want. This player holds hundreds of songs(who needs more on at a time?), and plays a high quality sound.
Very Pleased with Zen V.......2006-11-29
I have had my Zen V about a month and so far I love it. I have downloaded books from netlibrary without a hitch. Copying books from CD's and then transferring has been more of a challenge due to each track needing to be edited manually. It bookmarks great and does remember where you left off after shutdown as long as it isn't on pause. Not sure why that is but I learned that fairly quickly. I am still learning all the extra features, but I recommend it if you want to do audiobooks.

Deceptive
I bought this MP3 player because the Creative Web site promised "Easy Transfer -- Simple drag and drop your data files between ZEN V and your computer. No complicated or messy driver installations necessary." However this does not seem to be the case.
I love Creative's MP3 Muvo player. No software needed to load that player up with MP3s. The Muvo shows up as a USB mass storage drive, so one just has to drag and drop his MP3s and data to the Muvo, using nothing more than Windows Explorer -- just like any other thumbdrive. I researched the Zen V first on Creative's site, and the language implies that loading the Zen V was as simple as loading the Muvo or any thumbdrive.
However, one apparently does need software to load the Creative Zen V. Moreover, apparently one also needs an Internet connection to install the software. Why do I need to go to the Internet when all I want to do is load this MP3 player with my music and images? I tried to install the software, but it wouldn't install after I told Zone Alarm not to allow the install software to go to the Internet.
There is no language on the outside of the box that says you need to install software to use the player, or that you need an Internet connection.
I attached the unit to my computer via the USB connection to see if it would show up as a USB mass storage device, and it did not.
The "Play for Sure" icon on the back was sticker out; apparently Creative had second thoughts after they put out the product, and decided not to support that function.
Moreover, the player will not work in Windows 2000 (though it does say you need Windows XP on the box). I also suspect that the Creative software might be phoning home, and telling the mothership what you are listening to. I see no other urgent need to go to the Internet, unless I make that decision myself.
In short, the packaging and the product is deceptive. Which is really too bad because I love the Muvo, and was eyeing the larger Zen Vision: M model. Now I'm going to have to reconsider the Archos solutions.

Big Bass.......2007-09-22
Excellent bass response. Sounds better loud. A little boomy when used with the laptop and a movie, but great for rock and rap in the gym. They stay in place well when sweating and moving a lot.
Hits price/performance spot.......2007-09-22
I got these earbuds as a replacement for the unfortunately named Skull Candy "Smokin' Buds"earbuds. Those things were great and comparable in price/performance to these earbuds, except one earpiece failed on me after 1.5 months of use.
These earbuds have been used regularly, at least once a day, and for a longer period of time. They feel great; just pop in and forget they're there. Cancels out noise very well. Good bass response.
In defense of the "Smokin' Buds," I did *cheat* a little this time by wrapping the vulnerable portion of the cord with a little bit of black electrical tape. This preventitive measure may or may not have artificially increased the lifespan of the earbuds. The vulnerable portion of the cord is the part that is bent at extreme angles the most; where the mini-jack and the cord itself meets. If you give that joint some support by wrapping it in half-width black electrical tape you might prevent damage to the copper wiring inside.
If you're on a budget but don't want crappy/uncomfortable earbuds, these will suit you just fine.
Hearing protection.......2007-09-21
I bought these earbuds because I had read that they might help protect my hearing by allowing me to turn down the volume because they are noise blocking not noise cancelling. I had a set of Bose noise cancelling and they were great, but on an airplane I still had to turn my ipod up to 90% volume to hear the music. With the earbuds, I keep the volume at about 40% in all circumstances, even on noisy airplanes. This is much safer for my hearing and I find I really like this product. I experimented with the different size silicone pieces and found "my" size and the earbuds fit comfortably in my ear. The plasic piece to wrap excess wire around is handy when I'm using the earbuds and for storage.
And the sound is great! I hear much more of the music because of the great sound quality of these earbuds. I highly recommend them.

i just got these in not too long ago and out of over 100 items i've ordered off ebay these are the first i've been compelled to review..i'm your average 20yo guy..these are great buds for most every kind of music i throw at em. personally i use em for metal most times and they stand up fine..beats my stock zune headphones and the other 4-5 cheaper phones i've bought..anyway..buy these and you'll want to spread your newfound happiness around amazon, too

These earphones are pretty rugged, sound great (especially for bass heads) and do a decent job of canceling noise. Only problem, but I think its just the style of earbuds, my ears sweat like crazy with these things. Small price to pay for comfort and sound at less than 30 bucks.

These foam pieces are the same as the ones that come in the original headphone package...just more of them in the size that fits you. Not exactly cheap considering what they're made of, but I guess the headphones weren't exactly cheap either. Foam offers much better sound isolation than the rubber pieces.

Work very well with your ear phones. Squeeze to small size and hurry up and get them in your ear. Holds ear piece well and blocks out wind noise when riding the motorcycle. Recommended.

Simply put, I love the Shure Ec-2 earbuds, and these replacement foam covers. They are incredibly comfortable - I really don't feel the buds, even after I've been using them on a long flight. They shut out the noise really well. In fact, one has to be careful, and not wear them when you have to hear PA announcements, traffic approaching, etc. etc.
Glorious. Try them, and then buy them. They seem expensive (sometimes the buds only last a few weeks of intermittant use), but they are well worth it.
great replacement foam for apple in ear headphones.......2006-08-21
I bought the 40 dollar apple in ear headphones. The little rubber things they have always popped out. These foam replacements are great and they fit the headphones pretty good. Just buy the size that you used for the apple in ears and push them on but don't pull to hard. They offer great fit, sound, and noise isolation.

These are the same that come with your new E2 head set, but boy are they expensive. you get 5 pairs, (not 10 as the wording might mislead on to think), and they are all the same ones that come with a new unit. nothing exciting. but it does work. cancels out noise, and makes your music sound great. What you see is what you get.

Great gadget for laptop users........2007-08-21
For a while I've been wrestling with the best way to use my laptop on the couch or in a chair without a table in front of me (which isn't that comfortable anyway!). I had seen these before and finally picked one up today. They are lightly cushioned, which is perfect. The firmness makes it easy to hold but the cushy feeling keeps it from being tiring.
Not only does it angle the laptop well and provide a cable guide through the center, alternately used as a storage slot, but it prevents you from cooking yourself with the bottom of a hot laptop.

overall, for the price, it's an awesome little audio/video player.
the video, although on a really tiny screen, looks fantastic. it feels very futuristic to be watching such quality video on such a tiny device. it also records audio with a built-in mic and plays the radio. it's really amazing how much technology they can cram into a tiny peace of plastic.
that said, it has its problems. the navigation is goofy; there are only two buttons even though it appears there is plenty of room for four, and to pull up the menu you have to hold down the 'back' button and wait. which i feel is more than a little counter-intuitive.
it sometimes stops responding when the battery gets low, but after charging it's right back to normal.
i wouldn't recommend it as a gift, because at first glance (and touch) it seems cheap, but if you're looking for a tiny, light, inexpensive device for yourself that can play multiple audio and video formats, this one does the trick.
Better with at least 2G of storage.......2007-08-28
The only drawback would be that if you really want to add videos to it,make sure you get one with at least 2G of storage or more.The videos are not compressed and therefore take up more space.The file size doubles when converted.
I have had to reset the unit a couple of times but overall,I'm cool with the Zen V Plus.I like Creative's products and will likely buy another Zen V Plus player but I will get one with more storage.
great but dissapointing.......2007-08-09
The product is great. It is so light and small that it fits anywhere. The screen is bright and easy to work. I am dissapointed because the product does say that you can fit 500 songs but that is not true. They should be truthful and say that it is possible to fit up to 500 songs since you have to take into consideration the actual "size" of the song. In other words, how long the song may be has to do with how many you can fit. All in all I was able to fit 211 songs. Not even close to half but I do like it.

The CushTop which is part of the Belkin Laptop@Home laptop accessories and is designed to hold your laptop computer on you lap, couch, bed, or floor. It has a pocket that you can store your power adapter and mouse. The CushTop is designed to be used with either a 15 or 17 inch laptop depending on which side is flipped up. The product comes in three colors: orange, green, and silver.
I tested the orange CushTop with an Apple Mac Pro 15 inch laptop. I found it was a good size for a laptop and of good quality construction. It keeps your lap cool especially for the new Intel Core Dual microprocessor chips which can run hot. It gives you a little more height to make it more ergonomic to work on the laptop. It is small enough to pack in your suite case to travel.
I found the CushTop too slick for a Apple Mac Book Pro 15 inch laptop when placed on the 15 inch side. If I did not hold onto the laptop it would side off. I found this to be frustrating, but if I turned the CushTop over to the 17 inch side the sliding problem stopped. I did not test CushTop with any other laptops so sliding problem might not be a problem with other laptops from other manufactures.
A must for laptop users.......2007-03-09
This has only one negative in my opinion, cushioning. Just a little would be helpful. I appreciate the fact that it accomodates the larger 17" screen users. I've gone through several more expensive laptop stands, mats, etc. and this is by far the best. Your laptop will not slide off or burn your thighs. And it's angled properly for your wrists. Though the cover is not removable I just sprayed it with some fabric protector to prevent any stains. Finally, I wish that there were a greater variety in color choices.

Quiet, cute and enough air at low speed!.......2007-09-18
The title says it all. This little fan is perfect for those of us who become warm at intervals (we know who we are). A yellow Zippi fan is on my desk and is so quiet that I forgot to turn it off last night. The controls are behind the soft fabric "blades", so turning it off or changing the speed is a bit awkward but harmless. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
It's a great little desk fan........2007-09-11
It's perfect for a small, quiet fan that move enough air to provide personal comfort and not be annoying. It won't blow papers around on your desk, nor be distracting during conversations either in person or on the phone. They're the only fans that we've tried that won't keep my wife awake on high temp nights at home.
I've purchase 4 so far. The only negative that I've experienced with them is that the fan blades tend to slip off if the fan is pointed downwards. They're easy to put back on.
Silent breeze.......2007-09-02
This is an excellent product. I originally got two for home, one for my study and one for the bedroom and when they arrived and I tried them out I immediately ordered another two, one for my desk at work and one for my wife. Not the most powerful fan in the world, but not marketed as such, it is very quiet and perfectly sufficient as a personal desk fan. It is in fact so quiet that (like me) you will likely completely forget it is there and reaching past it for something will get a shock when is soft fabric 'blades' hit your hand/arm... This doesn't hurt at all but is quite startling. I thoroughly recommend this product!
Perfect for what I wanted it for.......2007-08-28
I use this little fan in a home meditation area set aside in a large closet.
Placed on the floor about two feet from my face and directed upwards it works perfectly.
The closet has no other ventilation with the door closed and this little fan keeps me cool
for about two hours with the temperature outside the house in the hundreds. The cloth blades
are ideal for this type of use do to the safety factor in this environment. The noise level is very low and the only sound
of the blades whirling actually adds to the soothing sound help quiet the mind.

My office AC has not worked for 3 days now. This is what's keeping me at work. It's safe. Looks alright. It cools my cubicle well. Not the most powerful fan, but you can get it to be quiet in the low setting, and it does a good job.
