This electronic Bible is small enough to fit in my purse. I love it! It allows you to look up scriptures or to look up keywords, if you can't find a certain scripture. It also allows you to bookmark a page or certain scripture. It is very handy and convenient.

Don't Leave Home Without It.......2007-04-22
I just received my Franklin Electronic Bible today. I have already used it for several references. It is so easy to use I haven't even read the instructions yet. Most people now days have cell phones and would turn around to go back home if they forgot it. This is how I expect the FEB should be. Don't leave home without it!!! I am already utilizing it in devotionals for quick reference. What a great item! Lightweight, fits in the palm of your hand more or less and easier on my eyes since I have restricted vision. I wanted one of these years ago when they first became available but the price was out of reach for me. Now it cost about the same as a decent hard copy of the bible however very compact and no flipping of pages. This is one item I am happy to see modern technology produce.

You can carry this compact Bible anywhere. I carried it with me to every place I visited recently in Israel. It is easy to bookmark passages for future reference or for memorization. It includes footnotes at the end of many passages just like a regular Bible in book form. It has a concordance feature that allows you to look up words as they occur in the Old and New Testaments.

This product is great! The manual is an easy read and the electronic bible has truly helped me with my bible studies and reading. The keypad is easy to use. A nice buy for those needing to look up scriptures and passages with a little more ease.

This is one of the best purchases I've ever made. I use it in bible class to search for passages that are familiar, but I can't readily locate. This little devise makes me seem smarter than I really am. The search engine is fast and powerful.
Handy, but small.......2007-06-28
I ordered this to keep in my purse for quick scripture reference. I am prone to knowing a verse verbatim and not being able to locate it quickly! So, this helps.
The keys are small and the LCD screen is narrow - I wouldn't take this anywhere and expect to read a large portion - or even a chapter - of Scripture, but for quick word or verse look-up, it's handy.
A little expensive, but I recommend it.
GREAT FOR SEARCHING THE BIBLE!.......2007-06-12
If you find using a concordance cumbersome, you may find the KJV-450 very useful. By entering unique keywords, you can instantly locate verses which might otherwise elude you. One of my favorite events from the Bible is when God used Elisha the prophet to revive a boy who had died. All I knew about the event was that the young boy sneezed seven times immediately after his soul reentered his body. I typed the words `sneezed' and `seven' and the KJV-450 searched and found II Kings 4:35 which, tells of that event. There God says, "Then he returned, and walked in the house to and fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes." To read the entire story, simply pick up the context in verse 8. The KJV-450 is indispensable and valuable for these kinds of searches. I am legally blind and the font can be adjusted to three sizes: small, medium, and large. The KJV-450 is packed with features. I would have given it 5 stars if the build quality was better. It looks and feels flimsy. FRANKLIN used to make their handheld products of stainless steel and were very rugged. Therefore, treat this product gingerly. Additionally, a slipcase would have been nice. This product does not come with one. Otherwise I highly recommend the FRANKLIN KJV-450.
***UPDATE*** Despite this KJV-450 being touted as KING JAMES VERSION, I have found some archaic words which have been modernized. For example, in the true KJV, the word `show' is always spelled `shew'. It displays as `show' in the KJV-450. Another example is in II Timothy 3:17. The word 'throughly' which, appears in the original KJV, displays as 'thoroughly' in the KJV-450. I suspect I will find more flaws in its database. Still, all in all a very cool gadget and extremely useful.
***2nd UPDATE*** The KJV-450's memory can be volatile. The device allows for custom settings such as font size, display contrast, and shutoff time in addition to storage of bookmarks of specified verses and personal contacts information. On two separate occasions, my unit has spontaneously reverted to its default settings with a complete loss of custom stored data. The batteries were not removed nor was the reset button pressed. Therefore, do not entrust the KJV-450 with information which cannot be replaced. Despite this glaring and unpredictable defect, I still recommend the KJV-450 as a very portable Holy Bible and extremely effective search tool.

I've had mine for years and love it.
I highly recommend changing the settings for 4 lines of text not 3.
The word search/concordance is perfect: Buried Baptism = Romans 6:4 and Colossians 2:12.
I also bought the NIV and the word search was horrible.

Excellent When Used Within Its Limitations.......2007-08-24
I will try not to repeat the information in the other reviews. Installation on my Treo 680 was simple, no memory issues so far. I only use the NIV translation, so I cannot speak to the others.
I previously used the large paper version of the Zondervan Study Bible (ISBN 0310929555 elsewhere on Amazon). The footnotes and cross-references in the Palm version appear to be the same as in the paper version. As noted elsewhere, the Palm version lacks the introductions and sidebars found in the full version. This is a real drawback for me. For example, in Acts chapter 9, the paper version contains a nice 1/3rd page sidebar with a map and description of Roman Damascus. This helps clarify where Paul stayed, along with other information. The maps of Jerusalem in the Gospels and of Paul's missionary journeys are also missing. A number of other ancillary features of the full paper version are also omitted.
But...having a Bible at hand when desired is a tremendous benefit. For me, this outweighs the drawbacks I've listed. So, as one's only study Bible, this is good. In conjunction with the larger paper version for the ancillary material, the two together provide a very good combination of portability, availability, and comprehensive study information. I wish I'd gotten it years ago.
I LOVE IT!.......2007-04-12
Having a study bible on my palm pilot has been very helpful. Whenever I had some down time I always wished I had my bible. Now I do at all times. It is easy to navigate. Takes up a good amount of memory so just be prepared, but if you have enough memory on a card in your palm, it works great. I have used the memorize help feature a lot as well for memorizing verses. Great product!

I got this for my room-mate and she just loves it. She uses it everyday and likes all the different things you can do with it...it will automatically divide the Bible chapters so you can read it in an entire year and the memorizing tool are her 2 favorites.

Well worth the money!.......2006-12-13
I purchased this Bible study set to use with my Palm LifeDrive. It works perfectly on this device. Truly, it is exactly what I wanted.
It should be noted that the NIV Bible - and the other translations in the set - obscure God's name (YHWH). This makes it easy for mainstream nominal Christians to attribute Jesus as being the almighty God - instead of being simply the only begotten son of the almighty God.
But the translations are otherwise rather good - and the tools offered in this software set make it well worth the money. After all, God is a judge of hearts and intentions rather than the technical errors of man trying to understand Him. Jesus preached love of even our enemies rather than legalistic jargon.
It would have been great if the set included an interlinear (word for word translation) of both Old and New Testaments. That would have been a very great addition; but it would have doubled the cost. If such becomes available I will gladly pay the price.

I purchased this Bible a few weeks ago and I love it. I'm finding that I'm reading the Bible more than ever now. It's easy to use and cross-reference. Now I don't spend so much time thumbing through looking for verses. There are also a lot of nice features (such as Daily Devotional Verses) and add-on capapilities. It's compact so I can take it anywhere. A+++++

First off if your wanting the NKJ then this is NOT for you, however if you like referencing verses between versions and are tired of having to lug around a Bible and a concordance to find what you need then this is for you. It has an excellent concordance as well as devotional. It makes it easy to find verses you need. A greay buy!
not New King James version.......2003-08-30
ordered this item which was advertised as 'Franklin BIB-1450 New King James/International Dual Bible' specifically to get the NEW KING JAMES Translation. The unit is advertised incorrectly in Amazon.com. it is not New King James Translation. it is KJV/NIV.

solid built, convenient, better than just the bible.......2004-05-09
I bought the Franklin Holman bible dictionary 6 months ago because I wanted something faster to find verses during bible study. The model is HBD 1450 which should not be confused with the BIB 1450 model, which is the KJV and NIV bible only. This unit is the first electronic bible I've own. The unit retails for $89.95 but I got mine for $50.
At first I was intimidated by the user manual I viewed at Franklin.com site but when I received the unit, I was able to intuitively go through the buttons with surprising ease. The HBD has a solid casing and the cover door has a hinge that lets you prop open the unit so it sits upright. Inside the cover is a brief instructional guide to use.
The HBD is a "bookman" which means you can download other books or even a regular dictionary if you purchase the optional $19 connection kit. Franklin provides FREE books at their site including the KJV! Quite impressive. It has 5 lines of display which is about 12-14 in font size. the letters are dots so it is not as sharp letter wise but clearly readable in most conditions. When you turn on the unit it automatically goes to the last verse viewed. It has 5 "touch" buttons for bible footnotes, finding verses, bookmarking, and the dictionary touch button is a toggle between the bible and dictionary. you do NOT need a stylus pen just your fingers or the top point of a pen (I use fingers). It includes the entire old and new testaments in NIV. It has a concordance and cross reference. It even has 6000 archeological articles and research topics built in. Instant search makes finding any word or verse a breeze. At first I thought the keyboard buttons were small but I have no problems entering the right letters.
The bible automatically finishes the book as you type and paging through the verses can be by line or entire verse by using the space button. Highlight a word using the enter button and tap dictionary and it will look up the word's definition if available, sometimes provides an article with historical sites. If you forget what book you are in, a button quickly reveals book, chapter, verse. It shutdowns after 2 minutes or longer so save battery (uses 2 lithium CR2032).
The secondary functions include world and locale time, date, data bank, calculated, metric conversion (very helpful) and currency conversion. You can quickly skip entire chapters with function key and pgdn. an index of important headings through the old and new testament. It has a tutorial and even a help menu to guide you through operations.
The only negatives are the contrast between back screen and letters is poor and verses are difficult to read as the screen is flat and lights reflections make it tough to read. Franklin needs to make contrast sharper and use solid letters. I am happy with the unit. SO much in a small, solid, easy to carry package. I highly recommend the HBD over just the regular bible, you will never be thumbing your way through the bible trying to find a verse again!

This is an incredible easy to use invention that furthers the ease of life. It is very portable and easy to understand. I have long awaited the NIV electronic bible from Franklin. I fully recommend this object because it will help you understand the bible. It is so portable that you will find great opportunities to use it when you never thought you had enough time in the day to read it. When you are waiting for a ride home, or on an airplane you can now read something from the bible that is so portable. You dont even realize it is in your purse or briefcase. WONDERFUL in every way:)
