Customer Reviews:
Older technology, but usable........2007-03-13
I have used my Fugifilm A210 for two years now, here are some observations.
It is a much better camera than my first digital (1.3 MP Olympus).
The 16 MB memory is not enough, but 1 GB memory can be had for $30. I have found that 256MB is plenty.
It does take a while to store pictures and calculate focus and exposure, so I have lost oportunities for good shots because of this, but I have still captured crisp, colorful images.
I recommend you always carry spare batteries, but at least AA batteries are cheap and can be found anywhere.
My A210 has survived trips from the boundary waters (MN) to the summit of Mt. Fuji (Japan).
All that said, today (March 2007) you can find many better cameras for about $100. I just placed an order for a Fujifilm V10 for $125. It promises to provide better performance in a pocket size package.
If you don't mind carrying a bigger camera, my choice would be a Canon Rebel XP. This camera has fine optics and Canon's Digic II chip allows rapid fire shooting. For the street price of $575 this is a good value.
Not even good for a beginner.......2007-02-20
I'm not a photographer. I like to take quick snapshots of the kids, animals, etc. This camera couldn't even do that! It takes SO long to start up, and even longer to actually TAKE a picture. When trying to take a picture of a toddler it's impossible. It MIGHT be an okay camera is you're using it for inanimate objects, but I'm not even sure about that. And don't even try to take a picture in anything but perfect lighting. The pictures are unrecognizable.
My advice... by any other camera than this one. I can't imagine it would be any worse.
Considering price and quality, this camera is great!.......2006-12-28
I recieved this camera as a gift about 2 years ago when i just started getting into photography. It's a very easy to use "snapshot camera" because theres not a whole lot of settings to change yet you still can get quality pictures. With the right lighting and atmosphere you can even create photos that look like they were done by professionals. Time and time again people have been amazed that my photos were taken with such a simple camera. I will try to submit some of my photos on amazon.
I also have dropped this camera at least 5 or 6 times and it still continued to work. One time i dropped it and the lens would not retract but this was only because the lens became unaligned. After popping it straight it worked perfectly. Only when the wind took it and caused it to hit some blacktop did i finally have to have the LCD screen replaced because it cracked.
The video quality is at a small resolution but i had no issues with that, only disappointed because there was no sound on it. I did have some issues with the exposure time because you cannot control it. You can only get long exposure on night shots and even then its only about 3 seconds of exposure. Would have been nice to have more control over that but as i said not expected with a snapshot type camera.
Overall i was really impressed with Fujifilm and would recommend a camera like this for those who take a lot of snapshots. As for those getting into photography, its a nice starter camera but it needs an upgrade to open up how creative you can get with it. I just bought a canon S3 IS so we will see how that works out.
Worst camera, EVER!.......2006-10-03
I've had this brick of a cam for a couple of years, and I have to say it is the worst, most agravating camera I've ever used.
I've missed many "once in a lifetime" shots, and it has just happened again.
As others have said, you install freshly charged batteries, take a couple of shots, and a couple of days later, you miss shots because the batteries are dead.
But even worse, you frantically install new batteries and snap several shots, only to find it hasn't taken a single pic because you didn't set the time and date first!
I wish I'd read these reviews before I bought this lemon.
Do yourself a favor and buy something that really works.
Decent Starter Camera.......2006-09-10
This is a really decent starter camera for people entering the world of digital photography. It does not have the confusing menus of a digital SLR. It's a nice point and shoot with a very decent zoom on it.
Though the resolution is low, and prints shouldn't go any bigger than 9x6 or they will be grainy, this is a great little point and shoot to take with you on vacation, to weddings, or other events.
There are a few adjustment menus that help out a lot and sort of give the feel of an SLR because you have this slight control over the exposure value and the white balance.
As a starter camera, I would recommend this. It's not expensive, it's well made, it's compact, it has a really decent sized memory card (512), and it takes pretty good looking photographs.
I actually used this camera for a photo shoot with a band. This camera took their promo shots, shots for their webpages, and shots for their newly released album.
It is NOT a bad camera, it is a STARTER camera.

Amazon.com Product Description
Speed is mostly what sets the A330 apart from previous cameras. Slide the camera cover open and you'll be ready to start taking photos in about three seconds. The camera also has a quick refresh between images--less than a second. Images come out of the A330 quickly, too, since it is compatible with the much-faster transfer speeds of USB 2.0 when uploading to computers that are likewise equipped.
Optics and Resolution
Featuring a 3.2-megapixel CCD sensor, the A330 can create images up to 2272 x 1704 pixels, which is enough information to create photo-quality prints up to 11 by 15 inches. The camera features a 3x Fujinon zoom lens. Also, the camera has a 1.6x digital zoom feature, but only when shooting in 2MP mode. To get those close-up shots full of detail, the A330's macro mode can focus the camera on subjects just 3.6 inches from the lens.
Movie Mode
Shoot up to one minute of AVI video without sound at resolutions up to 320 x 240 pixels; up to four minutes at lower resolutions. The movies aren't camcorder quality, but they're fun and convenient, and they're perfect as e-mail attachments. The camera includes cables that allow you to view your movies on NTSC (North American) and PAL (other regions) televisions and, of course, you can upload the files to your computer via the camera's USB interface.

- 1.5-inch TFT display screen

Customer Reviews:
Best 1st Digital Camera I will have.......2007-05-28
I am writing this review on my 3 year old FujiFilm FinePix A330 because I will soon be ordering another FujiFilm (probably a S700) and I wanted to pay due respect to my trusty 1st digital camera I owned.
Believe it or not, the A330 consistently takes professional quality outdoor photos for which I have always been grateful for because that is what I use my camera for. I take it out in the middle of nowhere and have taken clear, crisp photos. It is hard to imagine a 3MP digital camera being able to take great pics consistently in this age of 10 MP cameras.
The 3x Optical zoom was perfect for close-up flower shots or far away mountain shots. The stability on this camera was excellent considering it is a entry-level camera where many of comparable price will blur and distort.
This camera had just enough features on it to take great pics, but was not overwhelming for me as a novice digicam owner. I liked the fact that I could turn the camera on, point, zoom, and shoot.
To sum it up, I love this camera and will keep it as a back up. It has turned me from a novice to a photographer taking award-winning photographs in 3 years time and I cannot wait to get my hands on my next FujiFilm with twice as many megapixels and 10x optical zoom in the S700!
My first non-disposable camera........2007-02-16
I received this camera about 3 years ago as a Christmas present. It was the first camera I had unless you count maybe 2 or 3 disposables. So, obviously I feared I would have a lot to learn about taking good pictures but this was not the case. This camera is incredibly easy to use for anyone and includes an extensively detailed instruction manual that should clear up anything (it also explains some basic image taking tips that are very helpful). I like things simple so I leave the camera on Auto about 95% of the time and it does an amazing job. I don't know anything about white balance or EVs and frankly I don't care because I get the pictures I want. I can't vouch for the ease of use of the included software however because I simply plug it into my Mac and drag and drop the images because I don't like "messing up" my pictures with all the editing. I don't believe in changing things in my pictures (except possibly cropping) because I think it's "cheating" to enhance images after they've been taken (I won't go into further detail about this because I don't want to start arguements).
This is a very basic point-and-shoot camera (a camera for everyday use by the average person). Here is a breakdown of the pros and cons.
Pros
+takes great pictures if you know nothing about cameras (other than, obviously pushing the button)
+takes great pictures in various light settings
+the macro mode (close-up) is amazing and you can get incredibly close to your subject
+incredibly easy to use and yields great results comparable to "better" cameras (better cameras include newer cameras, or cameras with more megapixels)
+great prints are made from the pictures (although I don't make many prints)
+there is a zoom feature
+there is a video feature
+has a viewfinder (not digital which is another +) that is very accurate
+the LCD is very sharp
+the lens is covered completely so it can't get damaged, if the camera is off (the front part that says "Finepix" slides over the lens which retracts into the camera)
+uses AA batteries
+I've had no problems at all with any part of this camera at any time
Cons
-takes a long time to start up if you need to snap a shot quickly
-night shots are blurry if you don't use a tripod
-the LCD is small
-the video feature lacks audio to go along with it (I don't really use this much though)
-battery life could be better I suppose but I manage to get about 150-200 shots per charge ( I use rechargeable batteries)
-the memory card is an xD memory card (which translates to nothing more than a memory card that's a little pricey, but you can still manage to find good deals on the cards)
-the zoom doesn't get you that much closer to your subject which is fine for most users but I personally would have liked a little more zoom
-only has 3.2 MP because it's somewhat old which means that you can't make large prints (larger than 8x10)
The pros outweigh the cons.
Bottom Line: The only reason you shouldn't have this camera if you're at all interested in basic everyday photoshooting is because it's a little outdated and if it had 1 more megapixel then there would be no reason to not have it.
I have submitted a couple images that I have taken so you can see the beautiful results this camera produces. Remember that when looking at my images THIS IS MY FIRST CAMERA!
If you have any questions about this camera feel free to e-mail me sonicm88@hotmail.com
I hope this review, in conjunction with my images that were submitted, help you make the right decision about buying your camera.
Just as a note of interest: When I upgraded to a newer camera I switched to a Kodak Z-650 (or 700, I don't remember which) and had terrible image and transferring problems. I returned the camera and bought myself a Fuji E900 which I love now. Fuji has the best cameras on the market in my opinion.
Well it takes pictures..........2006-12-30
If you're looking for a camera that will take decent pictures for perhaps a small hobby or for around the house, then this camera's great for you. However the hassel that comes with it really isn't worth it:
Positive:
1.) Zooming: You can zoom in. (Nothing too special, we've seen this before.)
2.) Digital pictures: It does take some decent pictures that yes, you can get a good digital outcome from.
3.) LCD screen: There is an LCD screen so you can view what's going on instead of through the little lens.
Negative:
1.) Zoom isn't all that it's cracked up to be: Yes, so you can zoom in and take great close-up pictures, however; once you take the picture it takes around five seconds where you have to wait until you take the next picture. Realistically if you're in the moment and you want to capture the moment, those few seconds waste your picture time.
2.) Life is cut short on batteries: Battery life is NOT that good. If you use your LCD screen, then it takes up so much of the battery life that there really isn't that long of a time to use it.
3.) Not hard to use but not easy either: For as long as I've owned this camera (around two years), I still cannot figure out or remember which buttons adjust the picture quality. I always end up leaving mine on AUTO so the buttons really are useless!
4.) Video: You can film small video clips but there isn't any audio and they aren't as easy to put into your computer.
5.) Battery life(2): Not only does the battery go out after a some-what short time, but the less amount of battery you have the LONGER it takes for the pictures to be taken. I found myself waiting many seconds after each picture while losing many important moments that I wanted to take in.
6.) Size really matters: This camera's isn't huge or anything but it is a bit bulky.
Summary: With today's technology and this camera's price, it really is not worth buying when you can get much better for around the same price. You can get a camera half this one's height, length, and width and get the zoom AND get the special screen while STILL getting great digital pictures. Unless you're doing this as a small hobby and have batteries in your pocket, I don't recommend this product.
Decent camera for the money.......2006-11-27
This is a decent, cheap camera that's getting cheaper -- I think I paid about $150 for it, and I see Amazon has it for under $100 now. It takes good pictures indoors and out, although the flash has a harsh quality that makes indoor portraits unattractive. For outdoor fill, the flash works great. Movie mode works well, but without sound, is kind of useless. The controls are all very easy to use, battery life is good, and the sliding lens cover is a good feature. The camera is lightweight and easy to carry along, but is a bit too bulky for a pants pocket. The case is a combination of plastic and metal (aluminum I think) that feels a bit flimsy but has held up OK in the two years I've had mine.
Excellent everyday camera.......2006-07-12
I purchased mine over a year ago and really love it! The lens stays protected when not in use, thanks to the sliding cover. It's lightweight and small enough to easily fit into my purse. The controls are easy to use (much easier than the controls of the previous Fuji camera I owned.) The quality of the pictures it takes is superb for "only" 3.1 megapixels. Colors are true (especially skin tones), focus is always excellent, details are superb and lifelike. Besides regular family photos, I also use this camera for selling small items on Ebay and, again, the quality is excellent. When the time comes for me to replace this camera, it will only be in order to have a movie-shoot function. Otherwise, this has been the best camera I've ever owned!
