Customer Reviews:
Great unit, great price.......2007-09-21
The vista HCX rocks! It's more sensitive than the even the SiRF based units (76csx, 60csx), smaller, lighter, has a much brighter display and is even much cheaper. In fact I think that Garmin really made both the 76 and 60 obsolete with the release of the Vista hcx.
I get 12 foot accuracy sitting inside the middle of my house with no view of windows! The electronic compass is an absolute dream. It works perfectly. I bought a 2 gig MicroSD card and loaded 75% of the TOPO US 2008 map.
My only complaints are that the backlight setting gets lost after each power-off. Also the unit does not accumulate distance to the trip computer under 2.2 mph which is unacceptable for a hiking GPS unit. Garmin is aware of both of these issues and they should be addressed in a firmware update soon.
Great receiver.......2007-09-16
This is my first GPS receiver and I couldn't be happier. I have used it for geocaching and as a bike computer with the Garmin bike mount bracket. I have never lost satellite coverage. Highly recommended.
FANTASTIC.......2007-09-06
If you are reading this and the other reviews of the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx then you are doing your homework and wondering if this GPS is as good as all the hype makes it out to be. The short answer is YES! I have an old Garmin 12 Map which has served me well, but was getting a bit long in the tooth. I wanted something a bit smaller, lighter, with color screen and was water tight. The Vista HCx meets all of these needs and so many more. It is small in size, but with a fairly big and bright screen (easily readable in the sun) for its size.
Every review I read touted the extra sensitive antenna and how it picked up and locked onto satellites inside of homes or buildings. Well I can honestly tell you that it does all this and does it quick. How this happens it Garmin magic. I was always told you had to have line of sight to pick up satellites, but not in the case of the Vista HCx, it can get them just about anywhere short of being in a bunker.
The menu is intuitive and easy to navigate, so much more that my old Garmin 12 map. The long story short, this little GPS is the one for everyone else to beat. If you are seriously considering a GPS purchase for hiking or navigating the back country, do not look elsewhere, this is the one to get!
The base maps in the Vista HCx are of course upgradeable through additional accessories purchases from Garmin (at substantial cost), but worth the money. How Garmin managed to pack so much into so little a package is a mystery to me. Do yourself a favor, stop reading the review and just buy one, you will not be disappointed.
BTW, I purchased mine through Amazon.com and took advantage of the free shipping. It arrived four days ahead of when it was scheduled to arrive which was a nice surprise. Amazon has a very good price and I have always been happy with my purchases through them. And no I am not getting paid to say these nice things about Amazon, I am just a very satisfied customer.

Finest Upgrade Available from Garmin.......2007-09-04
I won't waste your time if you are a previous Garmin user. I upgraded from an EMap, bought in 2001, that has served quite well. However, after all that time there are features one desires that scream for an upgrade. Yes, the color screen, the USB capability, far larger (and commercially available) Micro SD Memory, improved maps all contribute to the many reasons to buy.. This is the tops, absolutely.
However, I saw this was coming out about 6 months ago and I waited. Why? The "H" in "HCx" stands for high-sensitivity. From my EMap experiences, I knew that GPS units were very sensitive to signal. My old EMap literally had to sit on the dashboard of the car on road trips, sitting in the sun, and sometimes still losing satellites. Well, friend, that's all over.
My HCx arrived today, and I opened the box, securing two AA batteries, and turned the unit on after about 45 seconds of perusing the Quick Start Guide. Sitting in a concrete building (dormitory, with a steel door, the HCx immediately began acquiring satellites and within mere seconds had found three...inside my little "bunker". Impressed? You couldn't wipe the grin off my face. I set a waypoint for Home - in the room - and then trudged over to work. Entering another concrete building, the signal strength was still fine and I set a waypoint at my desk. I marveled over the `track" I had wandered on the way to work, zooming in to 20 ft. resolution.
Friends, this is fantastic technology. The unit is small, comfortable to operate, feels solid, well-actuated controls and is far faster to acquire satellites than my expectations.. Needless to say, it's worth every penny. It fits in my shirt pocket, not a great deal larger than a pack of cigarettes, and it is the best thing I've spent money one since the thrill of buying a VIC-20 PC at K-Mart in 1985. And a lot of technology has been issued (and passed through my hands) since then. I admit it - I'm geek - I carry daily 3 phones, a digital camera and a Space Pen.
Buy this unit. Amazon's price is current market price, so don't feel compelled to shop - I did and it was a huge headache to attempt to save $20. Your time is worth far more - don't delay another day. Hands-down, it is the one to buy, and you will be on cutting edge for several more years.
You will not be disappointed.
Vista HCx Review.......2007-09-03
I was very pleased with the Amazon delivery of the unit along with the accessories I purchased.
The Vista HCx has been fantastic. I have used it backpacking, mountain biking, and for auto navigation. This is my 2nd Garmin unit and this one blows away it's predicessor. There are so many functions in here it takes weeks of playing with it to find them all and learn how to use them.
The data on the pages is completely flexible as is the list of pages shown and their sequence. So much useful info however you want to see it.
The GPS receiver is far more sensitive than predecessors and locks on quickly.
I use both the Topo Maps and the City Navigator NT. Nice to have all that capability in a single unit.
Overall I am just thoroughly jazzed with this unit. The reason it did not get 5 stars is because the user manual is very limited. There is no way to get information on how to use most of the features in the unit. You have to figure them out by playing with them and trial & error. I have called Garmin support on a few things to truly figure out how some features work.

Customer Reviews:
Disappointing performance.......2007-09-17
After reading a recommendation for this, I purchased this, the Terk, and the Silver Sensor as well and there was no comparison that the Silver Sensor (PHDTV1 ) gave the strongest signal. This one gave at least 15% less signal regardless of amplification for every channel.
Not what's expected for High Prefomance.......2007-09-12
It works as well as any set of rabbit ears. The ability to adjust the gain does give some extra fine tuning possibilities, but event on the top floor of a 2 story townhouse, other rabbit ears work just as well, even for bringing in HDTV channels.
Worked great for me at 15 miles, not great at 30.......2007-09-10
I used this at a location 15 miles away from the broadcast towers, and every signal came in crystal clear, with a minimum of 70 signal strength. This was with amplification turned on to about 50%.
I moved to another location 30 miles away from a different broadcast tower, and signals were only pulled in sporadically, at about 20-50 signal strength.
So I would recommend this for anyone living 15 miles or less from the broadcast antennas, it was working wonderfully at that distance.
Nice Antenna.......2007-09-06
After I finally figured out how to connect it to my 50" Plasma TV and then to run a search from the TV for the channels the antenna will pick up, I was pleasantly surprised to get a few local channels in HD or digital service that looked much better than what the local Dish Network channel looked like. I couldn't get all of the majors (fox, abc, nbc, cbs) at one time however due to antenna positioning. You have to play around with the antenna positioning as well as the number of red lights to have going on the tuner. (signal strength) You can have anywhere from 0 to 5 lights going. I have 3 stations going well right now (local channel 3, abc, cbs and fox) NBC in hd won't come in with those set and when i adjust to get it, then I lose fox or abc. I'm still hoping to find one setting/position where I can get them all, but I'm not complaining b/c I don't have to pay for these local hd stations. :-)
OK for big city use but does not cut it in smaller markets.......2007-09-04
Finding the right Antenna for your HDTV is really a mix and match because depending on your situation you either get all signals, some or none. Does this antenna work, yes on three out of six local stations. If the signal is weak then the amplification failed. If you live in a big city and need something better than just rabbit ears this will do. If you have some low power stations, spend a little more.

Useful training tool.......2007-09-17
Instruction manual is very useful and explains all possible tricks and mounting instructions, like what to do if the units locks up.
Mounting onto the bike is easy. Use the wedge, if it has to be mounted on the stem. This will improve readibility even behind polarizing sun glasses.
The software delivered with the product on CD did not work. I downloaded the latest version from the Garmin's web site. It works great, beside the annoying instruction to load Garmin's topowest CD into the drive.
Use: It is great to have HR, speed, cadence and elevation in one tools whtout wires. If you use it on the same trail it will show you very well your progress. It is good for hiking, running as well.
I did not dive into the training software to deap to create virtual partners or to race against myself. For me it is more important to improve paddle stroke at this time, where cadence and HR is useful to check. The stats from the software are good for training logs.
It runs for more hours than I can bike - big improvement to from the first version I tested two years ago.
A great find.......2007-09-12
What a great tool. Not only does it make running/biking more interesting but it also makes training more effective. Although it is designed for biking, the unit is small enough where you can run with it in your hand without it being difficult. It really is helpful to be able to watch all of this information as it's happening.
The only thing I wish it had was background maps for the display unit (GPS). The GPS acquires quickly and stays locked on, even in dense areas. Highly recommended!
Excellent Product.......2007-09-03
Other than the difficulty to navigate through some of the menus it's overall an amazing product. Rightly priced and amazing functionality at very low weight.
Best Bike Computer Ever........2007-09-01
If you been looking for a bike computer that can do cadence and heart rate monitor, look no more. Incredible flexibility and ease of use. Track your progress, race again your virtual partner and more. I have tried Polar, Cateye and was never quite satisfy with the product, their use or functionality. The Garmin Edge 305 hits the spot. I even consider the new suunto but they don't offer cadence. I have the unit speed/cadence sensor installed in my road bike but also have use it without the sensor in my mountain bike and several rentals over the last 30 days with great results. I greatly recommend it.
Exceeded my expectations in every way. .......2007-08-25
Works surprisingly well. I've had every combination of cycling computer/heart rate monitor and the Garmin 305 out performs them all (even Polar). Because of everything this thing can do I just expected it would be complicated to set up and use. But it worked great right out of the box (even the battery in the cadence/speed sensor was good). I was using the majority of the features the first week and the configuration is intuitive and as simple as possible given the depth of functionality.
I've heard some people have complained about the computer software but I felt it worked great. As with any software it takes a little bit of time to get used to the logic but once you do it's quite powerful and easy to use. After I ride I just hook it up to my PC and my workouts are uploaded just like that. I actually upload them to web as well using MotionBased and AllSportGPS. Very cool and easy to do. If you're not as neurotic as myself you can wait to upload your rides as the 305 will store up to two years of rides before deleting. The software really makes it easy to keep a detailed log of your rides too. I finally have my riding log.
If I had to complain about anything it would be that the information on the unit is a bit small and sometimes difficult to read if you're descending. But you can change it so it displays less information and as a result the font will be larger.
I'm really happy with it and Amazon had a smoking deal.

Good buy.......2007-09-07
I was in a bind. I had the original antenna go out on me. I called Sirius and thankfully they were not in stock with what came with my S50. So i got on Amazon and read reviews. It looks like everyone has issues with their original antenna. The 14105 Antenna was a cheap way to go to get what i needed. I needed an antenna quick because i was traveling on vacation and needed it ASAP. I took a chance on this antenna (was a little nervous, I thought it looked generic) I hooked the antenna up the same way as the other and it worked great and continues to work smoothly. I would recommend buying the 14105 Antenna before trying to look for a more expensive model
Best Option for Any Radio.......2007-08-31
This is the BEST antenna to have! I have purchased two others that always needed aiming for my home boom box and with this one you put it out and your are done - set it and forget it! I highly recommend this to anyone setting up their home Sirius system!
Sirius 14105 Car Antenna.......2007-08-26
works so far. I only have it on the dash. Not the best reception there but I plan to move it outside anyway
Great reception.......2007-08-25
Unlike the original one that the Sirius radio came with, this one works great. I never need to worry about losing reception with this anymore.
Just what we needed.......2007-08-22
After buying another car and only having one Sirius receiver (Starmate Replay) and car kit it seemed we either had to not listen to Sirius in one vehicle, move the antenna back and forth between vehicles, or buy another receiver with car kit. I was not about to pay for another receiver subscription and receiver, and moving the antenna back and forth was a hassle. So we decided to simply buy another antenna for the other vehicle and move the receiver and car power adapter back and forth which has proved to be an simple solution.

dual band z-boost.......2007-09-20
I installed the antenna at the top of my 80' tower. I went from 0 bars to full bars in the house everywhere. It also works out on the deck with full bars. Works excellent if you have a good place to mount it. Easy check is to take your cell phone on the roof or where ever to find the best signal, thats where you mount the antenna. If you get 3 bars then you will inside. Good product.
Cell Phone Owners Blues.......2007-09-16

I set it up in 45min.Iwas easy.YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PRODUCT !!!!!!

Wireless Extenders Cell Phone Signal Booster - Dual Band YX510 PCS/CEL
Our thick walled, stuccoed house - next to a hill - offered absolutely no reception on my tri-band Palm (using Cingular/AT&T) or my tri-band Blackberry (also using Cingular/AT&T).
Decided to try this item as it was one of the few that seemed relatively reasonably priced and included all necessary items.
Most time-consuming part was traipsing around the yard with a 30ft ladder, two phones and a wife saying, "don't put that there" as I determined the best reception for the antenna.
Once the antenna was installed, the reception on my phones went from 0 bars to 4 on the Palm and 0 bars to 1-2 on the Blackberry.
Will report back if there are any changes as I only installed yesterday.
Come on in!.......2007-08-31
I live in a log home with a metal roof. I think because of the metal roof it sheilded me from the cell site( 0 bars inside). Outside I have 2 to 3 bars on my phone. Now I have 2 to 5 bars inside my house. I can now use my cell phone inside for the first time. Thank's Ted
It works as advertised!.......2007-08-30
Easy to hook up following the instructions. Went from 2 bars in the basement (without the unit) to 5 bars in the basement as long as I am within 10 feet of the indoor antenna. 25 feet from the antenna brought in 4 bars. I would recommend this unit without hesitation!
Product Description
Featuring a log-periodic design for UHF reception, the PHDTV3 offers a narrow angle of signal acceptance that helps reduce multi-path and increases reception of DTV signals. In addition, the product's design helps reduce spurious or unwanted signals from the side and rear for uninterrupted programming. The PHDTV3 also features a very low noise amplifier with adjustable gain up to 10 dB to maintain excellent Carrier-to-Noise ratio that is critical for digital reception. With approximately 10 percent of DTV broadcast transmissions in the VHF band, dual VHF 40 inch dipoles make the PHDTV3 equally adept for VHF DTV as well as analog. With an impact-resistant plastic cabinet and glossy silver paint finish, the PHDTV3 provides excellent performance in an unobtrusive package. Featuring a low-profile contemporary style, the PHDTV3 boasts the same basic footprint of the original Silver Sensor Classic with added attention to design.

HDTV Powered Antenna, works like unpowered.......2007-09-13
I had an old 75 ohm ? adapter that has 2 screws for wires (antennas) and 1 coax to hook to the TV. It works better than this HDTV Powered Antenna. Seriously, I can unplug the power and there isn't a noticable difference. You'd almost be better off sticking an unbent paperclip in your coax jack and call it good (Yes that works if you're TV isn't against a metal wall).

This antenna worked for me.......2007-09-10
Despite my "name" which I took when I had a product now and then that didn't work as advertised, this product works well for me. I recently got a new computer with a TV tuner in it. I got the digital antenna to see if I could get HD quality reception from my digital tv tuner. I was amazed at how clear the over-the-air channels were. They came in very crisp. I did discover that I needed to point it in a direction away from interference. I had some exercise equipment originally in the direction it pointed and it made the TV cut out, but the minute I would get off the exercise equipment and I stopped interrupting the signal it went back to being fine. So I did have to find an angle that wouldn't get interference. But it has gotten beautiful over-the-air HD reception.
Cheap plastic doesn't hold up........2007-09-05
I bought this to complement my cable service to get the local HDTV channels. After painstakingly setting it up to point in the right direction to get the right signals (took about an hour) I was informed by my girlfriend that she didn't think it went with the decor in the room and I could use it, but put it away when I'm not watching TV. Women... But I do have to agree, it is kind of big and ugly, but I'm a guy, it was working and I was happy. After raising and lowering the antennae a couple of times to put it away and take it back out, it broke. I took it apart and the metal screw that holds the anntena to the body was screwed into the plastic body!! How cheap is that?? The same screw also had a wire attached for the signal, so not only did the antenna come loose, I lost the signal. The screw hole threads were stripped. What a waste of money.
Not impressed.......2007-08-14
I am not impressed. I am not picking up any of HDTV channels with this antenna. The UHF and VHF channels are coming in a little bit clearer but that is about it.
0 STARS!.......2007-07-28
Stay away from this product.
1) It is huge....you can't tell by the picture
2) BAD BAD reception my $10 Antenna(Terk brand) catches more HD channels
3) The power cord is extra small can't move it around.
Please don't be fooled by other reviews for this product, it is down right horrible. I don't know why Amazon is selling this product.
Product Description

Customer Reviews:
Fantastic HDTV outdoor Antenna.......2007-09-22
I mounted under existing Analog antenna and it gets in most channels crystal Clear. Some extra channels come in as well. I live approx. 30 miles from baltimore and washington, near frederick Maryland. I am now considering an antenna rotator to go with it. I will probably get many more channels then.
Great product. Not sure what weather will do to it though.
BEWARE OF BREAKAGE.......2007-09-13
This item did not work for me, tho may for others. (See other reviews here.) HOWEVER, in preparing to return it to Amazon, it broke. It broke because ONCE YOU OPEN THE ANTENNA ARMS, THEY CAN'T BE CLOSED AGAIN. But you need to close them to ship it. The fault of the breakage was mine (trying too hard). But be warned that if you open it up and find you need to return it, you can't do it in the original box. Perhaps a much larger one (and much higher shipping price due to increased size of the shipping box) and assuming you don't overdo your attempt to close it in order to try to use the original, nicely designed box. So, in my opinion, this is either a design fault or a very poor manual that doesn't tell you that you are stuck with it open.
Awesome HD Antenna!!.......2007-08-11
I had read the great reviews about this HD antenna, so I gave it a try. I mounted it in my attic, well, more like a small area in my rafters. After letting my new HD tv search for all available channels, it found about 40 channels! After weeding through the channels in other languages, I found that it was giving me 5 HD channels. They look amazing! I cannot believe how good over the air HD is! Most people don't even know it exists, as all the friends I have been telling about it are confused as to how you could get free HD!
This is a definite recommended buy. You will not be disappointed!
Not Good.......2007-07-17
I'm twenty miles from three transmitters. This antenna didn't work for me. I recommend against buying it!!!
Great antenna for regular &HD broadcast.......2007-06-17
The five digital channels come through very well, as do about 20 regular broadcast channels in my area. This antenna seems to be less sensitive to directional adjustments than a previous indoor model I've used.
I've installed the included amplifier indoors, several yards downline from the actual antenna and just prior to my home's cable distribution / splitter block in the basement. Very easy.
I'd say that most channels are as clear as cable / dish, but without that blocky effect. Make sure you have an HD tuner in your monitor/computer/tv/whatever you watch TV on if you want the digital channels. However, if you don't, the analogs work just great for their available channels.
My neighbors have seen mine and after a few years of the usual cable & dish thing, they're ordering.
Product Description
Whether you listen to a portable radio or a top-of-the-line stereo receiver, the quality of sound coming from an FM station is dependent upon the station's signal strength in your area. Adding an FM antenna can help greatly, so be sure to select the best FM antenna for your needs. The FM Reflect Antenna will work with any portable or stereo receiver. This antenna incorporates a new dipole design for maximum gain across the entire FM broadcast band. Up to 213 percent more powerful than a standard dipole antenna, it covers the entire FM band with an almost flat response, where standard dipoles start to fall off near the end of the band. Many FM stations now broadcast their signal with circular polarization. The FM Reflect Antenna is the only FM antenna that can be adjusted to take advantage of this. It is not affected as much by surrounding objects and people as other FM antennas are.

It Works.......2007-09-05
I have been looking for a cheap way to get better FM reception. The Crane antenna fits the bill. Stations that were fuzzy now come in clear.
The picture does a bad job in showing you what the antenna looks like. It is made with flexible rubber. You can bend it any why you like. Very convenient.
Good Antenna that Works.......2007-07-31
I installed this antenna in my home which is located in a valley. I had trouble with FM reception and this antenna provided a significant improvement in the strength of the FM signal.
It actually WORKS!.......2007-07-13
I recently received a new HD Radio and was disappointed. Using the dipole antenna included with the radio, I received only about half the area stations' HD signals at all, and forget about the HD2 signals, they came in and out constantly, making them unlistenable. I tried a Radio Shack amplified antenna and it made no difference. I just received this antenna and hooked it up. What a difference. I can receive HD on all my stations now, and the HD2 locks in fairly well.
Out of thin air........2007-06-27
This item was a big help in tuning in stations with my new HD radio tuner.
No better than a $2 indoor dipole antenna.......2007-06-07
I hoped to "clean up" my fm reception a bit with this antenna. I replaced my $2 indoor dipole antenna with this $30 antenna and discovered absolutely no difference in fm reception. The strong fm stations were still strong but the weak fm stations showed no improvement. Save your money or test it and return it as I did.

Customer Reviews:
I can hear ...sometimes........2007-09-20
This unit will boost your XM reception quite a bit, but you will find some difficulty in jogging in them. They are a bit thick and inflexible. The ear piece portion in rigid and the units tension presses it into your ear.
Necessary for outdoors.......2007-08-07
You have to have these if you are going to be using your XM device outdoors. They make a big difference in reception.
Totally unreliable........2007-07-29
I wish I had an explanation for why these headphones fail after just a few weeks of routine use. I'm currently on my fourth pair, which just conked out today, and I've had exactly the same problem with every one: suddenly, for no apparent reason, the satellite reception just stops. The display on my Pioneer Inno XM receiver shows the message "check antenna" or "no signal." And that's it - no more satellite radio. (The headphones continue to work for playback of recorded music, so it's just the satellite reception function that's problematic.)
Naturally I've contacted Belkin customer service, and so far they've replaced each defective pair without charge, but the hassle and inconvenience of having to pack up the old pair and ship it back to them, and then having to wait two or three weeks for the new pair to arrive is getting old - very old. And what's annoying is the Belkin customer service reps I've spoken to on the phone claim they're not aware of any problem with the product.
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any alternatives. No one else makes anything similar. If anyone has figured out what the problem is with these things, I'd certainly like to know!
They could be a bit more comfortable.......2007-07-14
The mini over the ear styly would be more comfortable than the tabe that get jammed into your ears.
The work fine. The sound is good. Just not a comfortable as they could be.
Good Antenna Poor Earphones.......2007-07-05
This product must have been designed by a robot with steel ears. The earphones are so uncomfortable that I can only wear them for a minute or two before experiencing pain. As another reviewer has said, there is a workaround - using other more comfortable earphones plugged into the earphone jack and using these poorly designed earphones as an antenna only.
A good external antenna would have been a better product choice for me in this case.

Amazon.com Product Description
The average home entertainment system once consisted of a TV, stereo, and maybe a cable box. Now a modern system may also include a DVD player, satellite receiver, surround sound amplifier, digital video recorder, and an HD tuner, along with a PC designed to serve as a digital hub for certain audio/video functions. The RF Link AVS-5811 takes A/V technology to the next logical step by wirelessly transmitting audio and video signals from these components to any nearby TV, monitor, or stereo system, letting you enjoy vivid video and hi-fi stereo sound anywhere in the house. The A/V sender effectively lets you send signals to components located upstairs, several rooms away, or elsewhere without running bulky, space-consuming cables in the walls or under the floorboards. With the AVS-5811, viewers can watch simultaneous DVD or satellite programming on upstairs and downstairs TVs, or listen to their favorite tunes on stereos in three different rooms--all without wires. They can also use the sender to watch live video from a camcorder or CCD camera in a remote location, whether for security or entertainment purposes. Users who edit video or capture footage from TV programs on their computers will also find plenty to like about the device, as they can easily send the video from their Macs or PCs directly to a living room TV for viewing.
The AVS-5811 comes with a 5.8 GHz wireless transmitter and a receiver with four selectable channels. Unlike more common 2.4 GHz transmitters, the AVS-5811 doesn't share a band with Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, 801.11b wireless LAN networks, and microwave ovens, ensuring a sharp, interference-free video signal. The four channels are also a bonus, as it lets users set up multiple transmitters and receivers in the same area without cross-channel noisiness. In addition, the sender includes a built-in IR remote extender that controls components from a distance, so a user can mute the bedroom TV while relaxing on the living room sofa, for instance. The sender features an NTSC/PAL video system and transmits to distances as great as 400 feet without obstructions. It's also relatively compact at 6.5 by 4.13 by 10.5 inches (W x H x D).
What's in the Box
Transmitter, receiver, two A/V RCA cables, two AC power adapters, IR mouse (remote extender), user's manual.
Customer Reviews:
It worked with no static.......2006-10-04
I used RF Link AVS-5811 5.8 GHz Wireless mainly for sending audio across the living room to the home theater receiver near the projector screen to get the three front channels and a power sub. I have to use two receivers and 2 subs for this home theater setup. There is no way I can run the speaker wires across with cathedral ceiling and hallways between walls. The audio was clear with no static. I have to switch to channel 2 to get a clear reception. Excellent product.
Works pretty good, WHEN IT WORKS!.......2006-06-22
I actually like the product, it works very well..BUT it has major overheating issues (my best guess). I get about an hour of operation from a cold start then it cuts out and I get the static/snow screen on my tv. If I let it cool for a couple hours I get another hour out of it. Maybe I just got a defective item...I hope so, atleast I can return it and get another.
Great product!! .......2006-06-20
This product does a great job! I hooked the RF Link transmitter end of the system to my Directv receiver in the basement and the RF Link receiver end to my bedroom tv on the third floor of the house. This means that the signal penetrates through two floors, three walls, and a lot of furniture, etc, in between. The RF Link receiver sits right next to a 2.4 GHz WiFi antenna and the RF Link transmitter is right next to the central console of a 5.8 GHz cordless multiple handset system but I don't have any interference problems to/from those systems. The RF Link system uses a 5.8 GHz frequency but it has 4 channels so as to avoid interfering with your cordless phones. As others have mentioned, the manual that comes with the system provides very little detail. I'd say that the key is to point the antennas at each other. Also, unlike other reviewers, I was able to get the remote control extender to work despite the distance between the units. I placed the remote control extender mouse directly in front of the Directv receiver's IR eye and pointed the remote control antennas on the RF Link transmitter and receiver units at each other. Using my remote control upstairs, I am able to change channels on the Directv receiver in the basement by pointing at the IR eye on the RF receiver unit upstairs. The RF Link receiver unit converts the IR signal sent from the remote control to the RF Link receiver unit into a RF signal which is then sent to the other RF transmitter Link unit connected to the Directv receiver downstairs. So the key point is that you have two antennas on the two RF units, one for the audio/visual signal and one for the remote control extender. Both of them have to be directed at each other. I'd highly recommend this system to anyone who wants to avoid running cables, drilling through walls, or buying/leasing another satellite/cable receiver box.
Transmits perfectly through 3 stories.......2006-06-04
I have a tri-level condo, this transmits the signal from the cable box in my upstairs loft to the bedroom TV 2 floors below perfectly - probably 60 feet away. This device saved me the hassle of drilling holes and running cable through the floor to run a cable to the bedroom. I have had it about 8 months and it still works perfectly. Amazing device.
Remote control extender.......2006-05-26
Like some of the other folks, I was able to get an excellent audio/visual signal. However, the remote control extender which had been working fine became unstable and only worked intermittently. After talking with the tech, I realized that the problem was with the orientation of the two UHF antennas (the two short stick antennas). They both need to be at 90 degrees to the line between the transmitter and the receiver -- this is actually mentioned in the manual, but I didn't realize the extender was so sensitive to the orientation. I had probably bumped one of these antennas out of alignment. After readjusting the two stick antennas, I no longer have a problem with the remote control extender, and everything works great.
