Not bad as a still cam or video recorder.......2005-08-01

I bought this device in July of 2005 and I must say I was impressed with the picture quality and I like fact you can change the megapixel range from 2 all the way up to 6MP.

I have not used the web cam function on it and probably won't because I will be using a separate webcam for permannent placement on my laptop. I primarily just want to take pictures and occasionaly shoot videos.

Kudos on the picture quality of pictures taken in pitch darkness, the flash brought the pictures up better than I expected.

The settings are easy to navigate and use and it is pratically idiot-proof for a child to use as well.

The downside of this device is the voice recording playback quality...it's mousey and can easily be drownd out by a crowd of 10 people talking at the same time.

If there will be another model in the future I hope that won't be an issue; also there was a mistake on the tech details in this item's description on amazon.com. It was stated this device can use AAA batteries but that is not true at all.

It has it's own battery pack, a 3.7V 900mAh Li-on to be exact; its life span between charges when using the camera to it highest megapixel quality really drains the battery quickly, insetead the use of high capacity AA or AAA batteries or photo batteries is a necessity, otherwise this device would have prompted a perfect score from me.

The amazon.com specs also stated that the max sd card capacity it can handle is 512mb...I don't know if that is true but if so it should be upgraded to using 2gigs in a future model.

Good Cam........2005-06-07

I have just graduated and recieved this camera as a graduation present. I loved it because I am going to college and this thing is small enough to stick in oyur pocket and carry around. I had one problem with it though. The battery wouldn't charge up all the way it didn't even charge halfway. I sent an email to macys and I answered a couple question and I was able to get it exchanged for a new way. Now thats good service.

Great multi-function device.......2005-01-21

My family absolutely loves this product. My wife likes to carry to use it as a digital camcorder. It is really great! Before, in order to import camcorder shots to our PC, we needed to use our DV Camcorder and import video through firewire. A terrible hassle. With this device, everything is so easy! My wife just use the camera, remove the memory card and plug it in her laptop. No need to edit or extract video like I did before with DV camcorders.

It is also great I can use this device for digital pictures, MP3, MPEG4 videos and even portable storage. Digital pictures seems a little blurry using the digital zoom. Just avoid using it, and you will be fine.

Can't say enough about this Product. Out of the box and working in 10 minutes, WOW. Easiest net work setup I've ever seen. This is better than Chocolat Ice ceam with whipped cream. If it's available used, like the one I purchased, you'll save enough to buy lots of ice cream, the expensive stuff.

I put this system in my living room which is about 300 square feet and these speakers are ridiculous. The brick mortar in my condo literally flakes off the surface from the bass. The surround is awesome and you have to be pretty into music to say that the highs are lacking. I listen to music with the system and have absolutely no complaints. I recommend it to everyone.

I wanted nice sound at an affordable price. I asked for a recommendation from a family member who designs and installs home theaters. They highly recommended JBL. I didn't think I could touch the price of a JBL speaker system. And when I saw the SCS150 system I was perhaps a little skeptical as to whether I was getting a bottom of the line system from JBL. I can tell you that they are absolutely fantastic! And what does that family member think who deals with home theater every day, you may wonder? They share the same view. Don't be afraid of this system, you'll be extremely happy if you want superb sound at an affordable price!

Excellent for Movies, but ..........2003-06-06

When it comes to movies, these speakers are amazing. Like being in a theatre all by yourself. You can hear every word clearly through the centre speaker, and the subwoofer can shake the house if you're not careful.

However, it is less than amazing for music, as it is deficient in the tweeter category, so your treble gets lost.

Movie buffs and gamers can rejoice - music fans won't be ecstatically happy.

I just installed these speakers and I'm really amazed at the quality of the sound in comparison to the price. I have a 20' by 20' living area and I think these speakers are just perfect for filling the room with sound. The subwoofer is especially good (my 17 year old loves it turnedfull up!). I highly recommend this product.

Windows PDAs have long fought an uphill battle. Users have flocked to the highly functional Palm Connected Organizers and tended to ignore the more powerful, more expensive, and bigger Windows PDAs. The release of the new HP Jornada 548, the first among the new Pocket PC devices to hit the market, may finally turn this around. The Jornada is still a bit bigger, about 5 ounces heavier, and more expensive than the Palm Vx. But it is sleek, robust, highly functional, and the color screen is beautifully sharp. The "wow" factor is definitely there.

The Pocket PC OS is also responsive and well thought out--a big improvement over WinCE. In addition to the suite of powerful pocket applications (Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, PIM, and Scheduler), the Jornada can also serve as a digital voice recorder (to capture those spur-of-the-moment thoughts), an MP3 player, audible content player, and even an e-books reader.

The standard 32 MB memory is expandable using standard CompactFlash Type I cards. The product ships with a synchronization cradle (which supports USB or conventional serial interfaces), an extra sync cable (so you don't have to take the cradle everywhere), an AC power adapter, and earbuds. A microphone and a small speaker are built in. For MP3 use, we recommend expanding your RAM to 64 MB with a CompactFlash card to provide an hour of near-CD-quality music.

Most Windows users should be able to run through the setup wizard and start using the Jornada and its applications without cracking the manual. Learning to use handwriting recognition, which is integrated into all the applications, requires mastering a few special stylus strokes, but you should be writing smoothly within half an hour. In comparison with Palm's Graffiti system, the Pocket PC system is fully on par.

In our tests, setting up a connection to a desktop PC for synchronization was simple. Within 20 minutes, we had installed the ActiveSync software, hooked up the supplied cradle to the AC adapter and a USB port on our PC, and established a connection. If you have an older PC or laptop, you can also synchronize using a slower serial connection. Synchronization is automatic and file transfer is simple using the Windows Explorer-like interface.

The only real caveat is that Pocket PC works best in a Windows-centric world. At launch, it appears that there is no support for synchronizing with non-Microsoft e-mail and scheduling applications. (With an optional modem or network-interface card, you can send and receive Internet POP mail directly via your ISP.)

The choice between Pocket PC and Palm still comes down to tradeoffs. Palms are still lighter, smaller, and cheaper, and they do the basics beautifully. The Jornada 548 is slightly bigger, 5 ounces heavier, more expensive, but vastly more powerful and flexible. The choice all depends on what you expect your PDA to do. --Thomas Mace

HP Support not there for me........2006-01-08

I bought my HP 548 in good faith. Paid good money. When it came time to buy a battery, I got shuffled around the planet talking to the folks (support) in India whom were polite but didn't provide any answers. The result was, I was to the forced to buy (on my own) a questionable battery from another source which doesn't work (it seems to be counterfeit). I'm glad Carly is gone from HP.
HP: How about supporting your products from now on ? Only thing is...I won't be among your customers. Ever.

The product was shipped quickly. But now I cannot get the Pocket PC to connect to any PC. I have emailed the seller numerous times about this and they will not respond to me. Amazon is abolutely no help either, they will not do anything to help me. If I ever do get the problem fixed, I will change the bad rating for the seller.

HP Jornada 547/548.......2003-02-19

Great PDA, beats out any palm type device by a longshot in capability expandability. Only draw back is ever shrinking selection of aftermarket goodies for it due to the processor.

No Pocket PC 2002.......2003-02-03

For its day the 548 was a stunning piece of equipment. I have been a Jornada 548 owner since week 1 of its release. I am disappointed to report, however, that the older Jornada models have been left in the dust by the Compaq-HP merger. Ipaq'ers get an upgrade from the Pocket PC OS to the newer, marginally better Pocket PC 2002 OS. Although the OS is only moderately more useful, it is aesthetically more pleasing and is symbolic of the fact that the 548 will receive little attention or support from HP/Compaq ever again.

Also, the lack of back up batteries is quite a nuisance when you lose all drivers and software because you forgot to recharge the 548. Furthermore, and this may be my error, I never found a car charger for it which would have been useful given the adequate, but not stellar battery life.

I would suggest buying a newer piece of equipment, its worth the dough.
