The DVD-VR325 records onto DVD-R/RW discs as well as reusable DVD-RAM media. With the DV input (also known as Firewire, i.Link, or IEEE 1394), you can transfer and record video clips directly from your digital video camcorder directly onto DVD discs. With Auto Chaptering, chapters are created when you record your favorite TV show or video clips from a cammcorder onto a DVD disc. The Auto Fit Recording function automatically detects the remaining disc space and sets up the best recording mode. For instance, if you record a 90 minute length program on a single sided disc, the recorder sets the recording mode from XP to EP.

Junk.......2007-04-12

First it stopped recording DVDs, then it stopped recognizing DVDs it had recorded. Now it doesn't recognize any DVDs. I've had it for about 10 months.

Piece of Junk - Don't buy Samsung DVD Recorders.......2007-03-19

Basically a $300 piece of junk. DV input does not work and locks up the machine. Firmware update did nothing. Many DVD movies that play just fine on other players hang and get stuck. After about 6 months of use the DVD recorder burns nothing but coasters. The is a very poor design. Samsung should be offerring free replacement/repair. A similar experience with a Toshiba model resulted in Toshiba repairing the unit for free even when out of warranty. I'll go back to buying Toshiba from now on. Pass on Samsung products unless you like to waste money.

Great Recorder.......2007-01-11

I could not afford this beauty new. I got it for a song refurbished. It does everything I wanted it to do. Great DVD from my old VHS tapes and great DVDs from movies on TV. I use it like we used to use VHS and have had no problems. I have had it a month and have made 30 to 40 DVDs so far. Way worth the $100.00 I paid. I probably will not use all the features this recorder offers but it works just fine for my needs.

Good deal?.......2006-10-08

After trouble with several DVD players, I decided to invest in this higher cost unit. The option to record from VHS tapes held a big appeal. The unit worked very well for 10 months. Then, the DVD would not open. I don't know why DVD units tend to do that, but I have had a couple that did the same thing. With the cost of this unit, I had hoped to avoid problems. So much for getting what you pay for. Does anyone know why DVD's stop opening or how to fix the problem? Thank you.

Don't waste your money on this item.......2006-09-04

This model received high ratings when we looked around at several sites in early 2005 so we decided to buy it. What a mistake. It's a pain to copy vhs to dvd with menus. Very confusing. First problem was the unit freezing during recording.This should have given us a hint. Next, DVDs would stop playing mid-movie - they would get stuck and we would have to forward several frames to be able to continue the movie. Now, it doesn't even recognize DVDs anymore. We just dumped it today. Not even going to bother paying to get it fixed - we bought a new non-Samsung model.

Beautiful Display.......2007-08-02

I purchased the Gallery 1740 for a PowerMac G4 in late 2002. It arrived without a single dead pixel and functioned perfectly without a problem for the 4 years that I owned the computer. Plus, it was $100 cheaper than the comparable Apple display.

The extra USB ports (2) are especially useful in desktop Macs - I plugged my keyboard directly into the display - and the brightness and contrast ratio are very easy on the eyes and makes streaming video, playing games, and editing photos a much richer experience.

Be cautious of what model you order. If your computer uses only DVI you will need to order the DVI model or purchase the appropriate adapter.

Buyer Beware.......2003-02-28

I purchased my 1740 in Sep 2002, got 3 months of use out of it. It developed a problem, 2 entire lines of pixels went dead. It took numerous calls and emails (getting a call back from Formac is kinda like seeing Haily's Comet - it happens but maybe only once in a lifetime), finally Formac issues an RMA. After 3 weeks I call to check status, they claim they never received the monitor. After I produced the tracking verification that they signed, they finally admitted to receiving it. It took another week and a half to get a replacement. When replacement shows up, it doesn't work! That was 3 weeks ago and Foramc wont issue another RMA to me until I register the product on their website, and their automated registration doesn't recognize the SN of replacement monitor. Bottom line - Horrible service, nothing at Formac seems to work! Do yourself a huge favor and buy the Apple monitor.

Best I've found so far..........2005-11-11

I've now gone through 5 different audio cassette adapters, made by Sony, Belkin, Panasonic, Maxell, and Jensen. So far, the Jensen is my pick as the overall best choice for me. The reason I kept looking is the first several ones I bought had problems -- either my car cassette deck randomly ejected them for no reason, or the volume level was so low that I had to crank up the volume on both my MP3 player and car stereo. And of course, when the cassette deck would eventually eject the thing without reason, my car radio would come on at full blast!

So for those interested, here are my finding with my particular MP3 player (iriver 795) and cassette player (acura integra):

Sony -- plenty loud, but randomly ejects occasionally. Sound quality okay.

Belkin -- too quiet, and randomly ejects frequently. Sound quality may be the best overall, but it also has (by far) the loudest mechanical noise from the cassette.

Panasonic -- too quiet, and randomly ejects frequently. Sound quality okay.

Maxell -- not quite as loud as the Sony & Jensen, and the sound seems bass-heavy.

Jensen -- plenty loud, and sound quality is acceptable. Cassette deck never randomly ejects it, and no mechanical noise.

I think there still is some room for improvement in the sound quality area for the Jensen, but with all the other factors, it seems like the best compromise.

Cassette adapters never offer you a great sound experience, but this one works just fine,and if you play the music loud, the cassette noise won't bother you.

i purchased this item for use with an ipod 4G and my 2000 Nissan Xterra. when the ipod was on full volume, i had considerable static and degradation in sound quality. the bass was barely coming through.

i got rid of the static and managed to improve quality by placing the ipod volume at half. even so, it did a far inferior job than my panasonic cassette adapter, which i got with a CD player in the 1980s!

the cord of my panasonic is somewhat damaged, but i decided to stick with it and return the jensen.

Great Sound.......2004-09-08

When I was looking for a cassette adapter to go with my iPod, it seemed like all of Amazon's selection had bad reviews. Then I found this product. It was a company that I had never heard of, but it had great reviews. So I bought it and got it in the mail today. Works great. All you have to do is plug and play, and I was very impressed with the sound quality. This product is great.

No problems so far.......2004-02-02

Pretty good cassette adapter. For home stereos, make sure the "this side up" side is facing the tape window of the stereo. The adapter has 4 cord exit points so you can change it depending on how your car stereo works. The sound is alright. Just keep the tape head clean and you shouldn't have too much distortion. There's a very faint humming noise when nothing is being played but I believe it's my cars stereo [I tried it in another car and the sound is A LOT better with no hums/distortion]. I think this adapter is very good just for MP3 players [or any other non-standard player for the car stereo]. If you wanna play CDs, definitely buy a CD system for the car, it's well worth the investment. Overall, I'm happy with the adapter.
