The 1 GB Sansa m240 will hold approximately 16 hours of CD-quality MP3 tracks (encoded at 128kps) or 32 hours of WMA tracks (at 64kbps). It's compatible with MP3, WMA, secure WMA, and Audible audio file formats. The backlit LCD screen shows ID3 tag information for the currently playing track (song title, artist and album). Navigate the music on your player with ease, sorting by artist, album, song title, playlist or other criteria. With five equalizer types, you can optimize your sound for your favorite style of music, such as, Rock, Jazz, Classical, Pop, and Custom (user-defined). Keep the music coming with up to 19 hours continuous playback using one AAA Battery.
FM Radio

I love this player, the storage of music is very good, the fm tuner is a neat feature on the product but the static interfence is annoying at times. overall the player is a very good buy and cool music player to have when working out or for overall fun.

I had never purchased an MP3 player. This one is great! It holds all the music I need or a book on audio. I think it is wonderful. The price was certainly good and delivery was received in only a couple of days.
A Good Product Overall, But Not Without Its Flaws.......2007-09-22
If you're not a techie and/or don't have the latest computer software and hardware, this MP3 Player is for you. It's easy to use and relatively inexpensive. This isn't some device that'll do everything for you but make you delicious sandwiches (give Bill Gates six months for that feature to come out), but if you just want to listen to music, I recommend the SanDisk line.
There are some minor problems, however. The battery life the product information promises is grossly exaggerated. It's more like 9-10 hours per battery, though to be fair I do buy the cheapo store brand batteries. Another unexpected problem is the data retrieval system. I have often found that, after adding and/or deleting songs, other songs that were not touched in that session suddenly don't register as there. When I hooked it back up to the computer the songs were in the window, but the device itself didn't show them as existing. Sometimes I have had to delete the song via the computer and then reload it for it to 'read'. I have even deleted songs through the computer window only to have them still on the SanDisk Player! How's that for a unique problem?
Touchy data retrieval aside (though sometimes the player also has trouble with the file names, stamping "Unknown" in the middle of the scrolling title), this is a decent player and a good bargain if you're not looking for a perfect music player. It sure beats paying over $100 or using some cheap, dollar store FM receiver!

I used to have an Ipod shuffle and I think I like this Sansa better. You can see what you're listening to and skip to the next song. The sound is great and the buttons are easy to find. No comment about the headphones, I use my Sony ones. The download was much easier than ipod. Just click and drag. The one thing I don't like is that there is no way to hang this one around your neck. I got used to that before and now strapping it to my arm with the included elastic feels weird. The best part is no charging!! I have used it almost daily for two weeks and haven't changed the battery.

I got tired of using my son's old mp3 player and I broke down and bought my own. I love it, it holds plenty of songs, its easy to use and it has an FM tuner on it. I can take it to the gym and listen in to whatever they have on tv (using the FM tuner) or play my own playlist. I love it.
Awesome product, great features, and a good buy........2005-12-14
So the other day I decided to breakdown and purchase an MP3 player. My first choice was to look at the ipods and see what they had to offer. I liked the ipod shuffle because of its size, but it was lacking. What is great about the Sansa m240 is that it has the same memory, BUT it has a display, FM tuner, and a voice recorder. These were not the main features that caught my attention though. The nice thing about the Sansa m240 is that it takes a AAA battery that lasts about 17-18 hours, and doesn't need the fruity itunes format. I have a ton of MP3's on my PC and I don't want to spend my time converting them in any way. All one needs to do is plug in the usb port and drag the tracks you want. Simple as that. It's a small player and is lightweight. I'm glad they were sold out of the 1gb ipod shuffles because I'm not a big fan of Apple products. Apple is like the metric system in the computer world, it's simple to convert but everyone else is standard.

I bought this and it worked for a week. Very poor quality. Pay the extra and get an Ipod Nano. It's much better for the few extra $.
Simple and effective.......2007-03-15
I have been using this now for the last two years, and I love it! No hoops to jump through to get your music on (and off) your player unlike the other bigger and newer players. You can use this also as a USB drive if you need that quick data dump. The drive connects to your PC (WIN) via the USB port, and if using XP no further drivers to install (WIN9x drivers are provided).
Also don't let the bigger players fool you stating they hold gazillions of songs, its all down to the quality they were encoded at. Sure you could fit thousands of songs on a player if they are encoded at 128 kbps or lower. I found that most of these claims were based on songs encoded at 64 kbps (AM Radio Quality sound).
I like my music at 192 kbps or higher, and at this time I filled it with at least 180 songs.
Drawback, this does not work with the DRM protection scheme that they pack with most of their songs.
The EQ is very nice, and allows the user to adjust the bands rather then having a preset environment that is common in most newer players. So if you want the bass up a notch go for it.
The battery life is very long, I invested into rechargeable AAA batteries, and on average, I get at least nine or more hours out of a AAA batter. This is another nice advantage, your out of batteries, you can stop at any market and pick up AAA batteries and your back in business. Unlike the other MP3 players who require a USB port to charge from.
Good MP3 Player.......2007-03-13
You get what you pay for. It's a great alternative to an iPod. The sound is just as great, and downloading songs is even easier than iTunes. There is no installing of anything and you can download songs to the MP3 from any computer (unlike the iPod). I found this MP3 player to be extremely easy to use. The only complain I have is with its song searching capabilities. It's just not as easy as the ipod. The battery life is really good. I didn't have to change batteries that often. Overall is a good buy for your money if all you are looking for is an easy, simple MP3 player. Great for young kids..if you don't want to spend the money on an ipod.
Constant Issues.......2007-02-12
We bought the MP3 for our 15 year old son and it had issues from day one. We sent it back as the screen was bad. It continually lost songs or would erase whole folders. The control buttons were small and hard to navigate. Their tech department was of little help with issues. We finally got an Ipod instead.

Been a driver for 20 yrs, always ran "el cheapo" radio stock out of box. decided to get big radio and looked for awhile b4 deciding on a 959, (same as 949 except has freq meter) it has features only found(and not found in some cases)on much more expensive models!! The ones that got me were variable talkback,4 stage LARGE meter that you can actually see and use ,(signal, modulation,power and swr),freq meter, ...so, I paid more than this site because i bought at a truck stop(pilot) paid 200. took to local radio shop and did basic peak and tune and added echo board (70$total)
and now get nothing but compliments all day!!! Big Galaxy sound!!! my driving buddies tell me i key up all over traffic on 19 and sound great doing it. my out of pocket is well below 300$ and you can save even more buying online. Also 2 year warranty is not voided by any mods you do as long as the mod doesnt cause the problem you send it in for!!!couldnt find that with any other radio!!! Another reviewer mentioned swr warning light may come on before 2.5 to 1 and this is true with mine also but i dont mind this ,i consider it an "early warning system" however if it bothers you galaxy is aware of prob and has solution on their support site. prob a 5$ fix at a radio shop
For example my buddy has a general lee, has about 350$ in it and it does sound great and all but he is jealous of all the features and good looks of mine and considering getting one!!
