We got one for our bedroom to replace the big old clunker. This is an awesome TV.
Benefits:
- Picture is tremendously clear and sharp
- Sound is great
- It looks very slick -- it is beautifully industrially designed. The attention to detail in design extends even to the rear of the unit, where they have cable covers and wire wrapping mounts, so it can stand on a table and look good from all sides.
- Enough connections for several devices to plug in.
Only complaint (which may not matter to you depending on whether you use headphones) is that the there's no way to leave the headphones plugged in and control whether the external speakers are on or off -- if the headphones are plugged in the external speakers go off. For bedroom use, this means that you can't just leave the headphones in and use the remote for sound on/off, and since the jack is covered in the back of the unit, its a little bit of work to plug and unplug it each time.
Other than that minor oversight, this unit is worth every penny.

I have two pairs of these. These are the reasons you should consider them.
.
1) They are a high quality three way speaker in a small bookshelf. Most bookshelf speakers are only two way so you tend to lose out on sound quality. These do not have that deficiency.
.
2) They are higher end than average JBL home speakers. These are from the Studio line which is better than Northridge/Venue/Blaboa/etc.
.
3) They are far more attractive than the average speaker. Most speakers
come in some dark depressing wood, usually mortuary black or if you are lucky cherry. These speakers have a tough attractive white housing and they will blend very well with many decours.
.
4) They are bookshelf speakers, not some ugly monstrosity of a tower.
.
5) These speakers are good enough that four pairs of these and a sub would make a fine home theater.
.
6) Price - at about $240/pair you cannot get anything else in the JBL Studio line for nearly that price. They put the same drivers in much more expensive speakers.

Great starter burner.......2003-02-28
I bought this burner about two years ago and it has been very reliable. I only burnt a few coasters, but this was due to my Windows 98 installation and a few bugs I must have picked up over the Internet. I have just bought a TDK 52x24x48x VeloCD but haven't installed it yet, as I am building a new computer. I am writing this review at this time because of the review by JJ from Tempe. I was amazed upon reading it, because I had the exact same problem with Memorex CD-RWs! I was using the 80 min variety, but it burned coaster after coaster. I was beginning to think that the problem was with the burner, but it did fine with all the other brands of CDs. Now I know what the problem was.
HP support stinks!.......2001-06-08
I've had this CD-Writer for about a year now therefore my guarantee is over. I never had trouble with this unit, in fact i was delighted with because it had never corrupted a CD-R while burning it until it stoped burning them. I called HP support (that's long distance, cause I live in the Dominican Republic) and mailed them a thousand times and they couldn't help me so when they saw they couldn't do nothing they just told me i'm sorry there's nothing we could do and didn't even recommend a store were I could take drive to fix. That also happened with my HP 49G Calculator. So my advice after all this is don't spend 180 dollars like I did on a pretty good drive that someday soon is gonna wreck and you'll be left high and dry but HP support.
Terrible Support -.......2000-10-12
I bought an external version of this product and returned it for the iomega product - which works fine.
While the software that comes with this may be OK for recording music - it is not sufficient for creating CD's with software on them. Specifically, one cannot write a customized volume label on the CD - It writes one for you. So your CD is labeled X56zsFSFD: (or something similar) when you open it in "my computer" (or explore it in the windows explorer).
The worst part is the customer service! I educated quite a few HP technicians on what a volume label was. Every single one thought it was a sticky label that you paste on the front of the CD. It took about 1 zillion emails to HP "support" - each one with a different technician - to find out that their product just couldn't do the job. All this while I was on a tight schedule to deliver the CD's!
I bought the HP CD writer without much research - I thought, "It's an HP how bad can it be?" Well I found out.

This burner is great!! It's fast, for a 4x, and reliable. One thing to keep in mind if you bye this burner, don't use Memorex CD-RWs, they crash your computer. I bought a 5 pack of Memorexes, and burned a coaster out of all 5. This is a great burner, and I recomend that you buy it, just dont use Memorex CD-RWs. The CD-Rs (TDK) work fine, no coasters there.
Overall, a great, reliable burner for audio and data.

This drive is value for money as the speed is not bad and the installation was a breez too. A good starter drive for people who do not need to burn large amounts of CD's. If you are going for some heavy usage go for higher write speeds. This is a reliable drive as it comes from HP.

Great phone if you never make a call..........2004-06-25
I liked the message center feature and speaker phone which is why I bought it. Unfortunately it stopped working about 5 months after I got it. Just doesn't dial the numbers at all after it's been off the charger a while. Sometimes it works if you keep switching channels. Of course since I threw it at the wall it doesn't work at all. I only paid $25 for it on QVC so it really doesn't even pay for me to pack it up and ship it for repair. Spend your money on a Toshiba.

Lens
Breaking the mold that most other digital camcorders fall in, the GR-DVL320U has a very bright f1.8 lens, which should help with a dilemma common to many digital camcorders: poor low-light performance. While not useful at the highest levels, the optical zoom is augmented by a 700x digital zoom, which can supply that little bit extra you might need in some circumstances. Paired with the zoom is a digital image stabilizer, which will help eliminate much of the shakiness associated with high zoom levels.
Shooting Functions
The GR-DVL320U provides some camera functions, which can be quite useful if you spend the time to learn to use them. The camera gives you manual control over focus, exposure, and white balance, all of which affect the way your image is recorded. The manual focus and white balance modes are perhaps the most exciting, as you can use them to create depth-of-field effects, and the white balance will allow you to light a room without investing in expensive lighting gear. In addition, JVC added in a number of digital wipes and fades, as well as a black fader.
Output Options
If you want to play your footage on television, the 320U provides two connection methods: S-video and standard RCA-style AV connectors. S-video provides the better video resolution, but you'll still need to use the AV cable for audio, as S-video doesn't carry an audio signal. If your object is to edit your movies on a computer, the camera also comes equipped with an IEEE 1394 compliant port for shuttling video back and forth. It's a four-pin connector, and most computers with IEEE 1394 ports have six-pin connectors, so make sure you pick up the correct cable (JVC doesn't provide one).
Digital Still Mode
Like many digital camcorders, the GR-DVL320U provides a digital still mode, and stores the resulting images onto the MiniDV tape. While not the optimal solution, it works quite well. The images aren't very high resolution and are generally fit only for posting on the Web, or e-mailing to friends. To get the photos to your computer, the 320U has both a serial port and necessary cable, as well as PC-compatible software.

Good midline camera.......2004-05-12
This camera is a good midline camera with a pretty good level of control in the manual mode and well automated in the auto mode. The DV port is the small 4 pin connector that ships with a lot of after market IEEE-1394(Firewire) cards. If you intend to capture the video off this camera onto your computer you need a FAST PC, I'd say 1.5GHz or better, and over 512MB of RAM with a fast hard drive with LOTS of space, it goes QUICK. Price/Value is good, and I'd buy again knowing what I know about it. The onboard light is very taxing on the battery and should probably not be used unless you are plugged in. Enjoy it. Its a good camera.

I have an older laptop computer that I was haveing a problem getting online with using the internal modem. I got the Hawking PN612 and I have been happy every since. The sofware was easy to load and it is working fine.
