First for the reviewer that stated that upconverting doesn't work and only Samsung has one clearly does not know what he is saying. Actually Sony. Denon, LG, Zenith, Apex, Oppo, Panasonic,
Toshiba, Philips and many more off brand companies produce upconverting players. For many of us waiting for the dust to settle with Blueray and HD DVD to settle and prices to drop, this is a good way to maximize standard definition dvd viewing.
This player is basically a clone of the Denon 1920 less the SACD.
Great PQ and plays everything that I have thrown at it. The only negative I have is that it does not pass DTS. The advertisements state it does but the owners manual clearly states it does not and I have verified that. I opened this puppy up and found a chip with a DTS logo so it seems Sylvania decided to disable this feature so they would not have to pay a DTS fee. Bought it with the Amazon discount of 30 dollars so the total was 69 dollars plus shipping.
Up-converting is useless.......2006-03-21
OK, maybe I'm on a little bit of a "jihad" here against these up-converting DVD players, but bear with me because I do have a valid point.
Don't buy any DVD player because it can "up-convert to HD". Evaluate all DVD players on whether they do everything else well, or have the connections you need (DVI, HDMI, etc.) or the price is in your budget. This may be a fine DVD player, but don't buy it just because it can up-convert, and don't use the up-convert capabilities of this player even if you do buy it.
If your TV can accept 720p or higher input via DVI or HDMI, then it is already scaling the image to fit the native resolution of the display device. And I guarantee you it is doing a better job of it than any sub-200 dollar DVD player is going to do. (If not, then your HDTV was poorly made).
My final point: If this up-coverting technology is such a good idea, why is Samsung the only one doing it? Why not Pioneer, Panasonic, Sony, JVC, and Denon? (Because they know it's usless technology).

So far so good, no problems with set up or usage. Nice detailed image using HDMI Upconverted signal. Loads quick and smoothly
though drawer is a bit unsturdy. Remote is fine once you get used to it. I like the black face as it is unique. Sylvania did a good job adding HDMI, Up Converting, Progressive Scan and a Faroudja chip for under a hundred bucks on Amazon.

Worked really well for 3 movies. Then stopped loading discs completely shortly after the 90 day warranty was up. If buying this, make sure to get the extended warranty.
Great up-conversion, a non up vs. progressive scan really showed improvement on Revenge of the Sith.

Overall. This is a good DVD player. It reads most of the DVD-/+ R and RW. Loding time is very short. Very easy to use. Good features.

This product is just alright. It is not too good or too bad, it is just there. But I must warn you that if you do buy it you should have some knowledge on mp3 players because the instructions could be better, and you should get another set of headphones to go with it because the ones they give you are'nt good. Unless you only want to have a few songs at a time, dont get this.

I bought this because it was ... on sale. Software loaded easily. I'm not sure why people are complaining about the loudness because it's quite good at a 50 rating for me and I mainly use it when I'm driving a convertible with a lot of wind noise. It eats batteries but no worse than my CD player. It's pretty much what I expected for the price. Oh, get a memory card. 16 meg just isn't enough for any serious listening. ...

Okay, the bad things about this are that it only has 16 MB of space, which is small with MP3s, and the volume is kinda low, especially when riding a bus on the way home with roudy teenagers. Otherwise, I like it.

the media that the package comes with is pretty easy to work, and the installation process is a breeze. but the mp3 player itself is kind of clunky, and its bigger than the picture depicts it to be. the 16 mb of memory in its internal memory will only hold about 15-20 minutes worth of music (but it also depends on the bit rate you choose). so if you're going to take it on the go, i recommend buying a multimedia card to upgrade the unit to 32 or even 64 mb of memory. overall, there are better mp3 players out there, but if you want the basics, then get this one, its very user friendly.

Setting up the machine is quick and simple. You just need to attach the paper extension tray, insert the ink cartridge, and plug it in. HP 920 Fax Machine.......2006-12-21
Have had this fax machine for 3 years, been used moderately in a home business environment. Easy to setup and has the options necessary to do what you need it to do.
Works pretty well overall. Receives and quality prints pages very well as long as you don't overload the copy paper bin. Only problems I have had is in sending faxes. If you try to send documents longer than 10 pages and the papers aren't crisp and new it will sometimes take two pages instead of one, it won't jam but it just doesn't send the extra page. Doesn't do this every time but often enough that you can't trust it to do it unattended.
I rarely ever send documents longer than three pages and in this set-up it works perfectly. Also includes a quite acceptable quality but slow copier function.

Major feeding problems. Cannot copy or feed multiple pages for printing. You must stand next to the machine and feed one at a time. I have never left a review before in my life, but I would hate for my worst enemy to buy this machine. I am going to carry it out and put it by the curb right now.

I had my 920 fax for about a year, and it seemed to work just fine. However, for some reason, the rollers started "clacking" real bad, and, I got error messages when trying to replace the cartridge (message said it's the wrong cartridge). So all in all, it's ultimately just a pile of plastic junk destined for the trash can. I have taken the unit in to see if it can be fixed, but won't spend over $80 to do so. There's probably a more dependable unit out there than this one.

I work in a small construction office and have used several different types of faxes, printers, computers etc. One thing I have noticed is... HP is putting out more junk. What happened to durability? This fax is an absolute pain. We have had it about 6 mos. and it jams up all the time. We clean it constantly just to get a few pages to go through when it jams up again. The paper feeder is flimsy, taking it in and out to clear jams is hard on it. After recieving 7 of a 10 page fax, it jams, you clear it then it starts all over again with page one! My office mate is over there right now trying to recieve a 12 page fax for the fourth time. Not happy.... Update, we returned it to HP and got another, one that had been used and for good reason dumped back on HP, same problems as first. Very poor design, check out Brother Intellifax 4100
