Good Deal.......2005-09-06

I just resently got this product and so far it has been great. It was less expencive than a smaller name brand product and its picture looks the same. It is slightly pixlated on T.V. but for watching moives it looks like it could have come from a high quality name brand T.V. I think that this is a worrthy buy.

a mixed bag.......2005-08-31

The LCD looks good. In the store it was next to a Sony at 1" smaller and 3x the price and I couldn't tell the difference. I've noticed no blurring or anything like that with fast action. Colors will have to be toned down from the default settings, but can be adjusted to look good.

Make sure you look over the settings, balance was set almost all the way to the right on my unit out of the box which seems like an odd default. Perhaps it was left there by the testing crew.

DVDs over YCrCb look great, DVDs played on an xbox over YPrPb have rainbox interference pattern, but I don't know if that's from the Xbox or a cable. Xbox games and especially ones that support 720p over the same YPrPb cable look amazing so I'm not sure what the problem is there. Satellite through the Super VHS recorder over SVideo also has the same pattern, but Satellite straight via svideo cable does not so that may be something external to the TV.

Zoom looks like it just doubles the picture size instead of making a 4x3 broadcast fill the screen as is described in the manual and most other HD monitors so it's not very useful.

There is a nice button on the remote to change input, but you often have to change aspect ratio at the same time so of course that is buried in a menu.

Sound is not bad for built in speakers.

The GPX FRS100 is an incredibly cheap FRS radio for people who don't need a lot of features but don't believe the rugged sports design tagline for a second. The worst thing about this radio is its construction quality, which is a far cry from the truly (and more expensive) rugged FRS devices we've tested.

This radio can transmit and receive on only the first two of FRS's 14 available channels, so it is practically worthless at the amusement park or in a similarly crowded environment where FRS usage is heavy. The radio works best when you are communicating with companions while doing things like camping or driving in a convoy. In these situations, the FRS100 shines, delivering decent sound quality at a range of up to (and sometimes beyond) one mile.

Since the radio supports so few features, it is extremely easy to use. Holding down the channel button switches between the two available channels, which are indicated by LEDs on the front of the radio. Volume can be adjusted using a pair of up/down buttons in the center, and a button on the side is pressed to transmit. It doesn't get much simpler. We were surprised to discover that there are headphone and microphone jacks on top of the radio, and that's the best way to use it while driving if you're willing to spring for a compatible headset unit.

Our only gripe is that GPX is advertising this radio as a rugged design when it's anything but. It uses a plastic housing that has rubber nubs down each side that give the appearance of protecting the case if the radio is dropped. In reality, the rubber doesn't extend past the plastic it presumably exists to protect. If this radio hits the ground, the plastic is going to hit first, and the results likely won't be pretty.

This isn't the radio for your next ascent up K2, but it is a cheap alternative for road trips, neighborhood communication, and hikes. --T. Byrl Baker

This product is great! If you are looking for a 2-way radio to use with your family or friends, this is the one. It is not to take to sports games because it only has 2 frequensies, but otherwise it is the model radio. Great for events where many people have to communicate because it costs only $22. The "monitor" function that blocks out noise and background is great. There is NO static at ALL! You need new batteries because any that have been partially used will not work correctly. This gave me crystal clear reception from a mile a way.

Very convenient for vacations. It is good rule of thumb to have a radio anyway.

The batteries last up to 30 hours (I actually got about 35 out of them.)

If you are concerned that these are not made well they are so cheap, I tell you that I had the same concern. However with other radios costing up to $50 each, I had no choice. Now I realise this was the correct way to go!

Not bad for the price.......2001-06-07

I was a little hesitant to purchase a pair of GPX FRS100 radios because of the low price and no previous experience, however they have lived up to the billing. I was pleasantly surprised at the range they work at. In my testing, I could communicate up to 2 KM (from inside our home to the inside of my office building with a large two-storey structural metal building in between). I read the review about sturdiness. It's housed in a plastic case but one of my kids dropped one on the sidewalk and it's still kicking with no ill effects. There's only two channels, but in my area that's plenty. After all, you can only use one channel at a time anyway and if the kids inadvertently switch channels, there's only one other channel to try to reach them.

There are a few key features to the Kenwood DPC-885 personal CD player. The first is the included car kit. With the kit, this personal CD player is ready to be played in a vehicle's cassette player via the cassette adapter. The DPC-885 will play audio CDs, plus CD-R/RW discs. To help keep the player from skipping, an essential feature for car use, Kenwood has included a variable Digital Anti-Shock Circuit (DASC.) With this feature, it is possible to choose how much skip protection is needed, then select between zero, six or twenty seconds of memory. When running or in a bumpy car, selecting twenty seconds is your best bet. If at the coffee shop studying, then the DASC can be turned off, allowing for the best sound quality possible.

Another significant feature of the DPC-885 is its ability to operate on rechargeable batteries. The player even acts as a charger, to make using rechargeable batteries an easy decision. Kenwood includes rechargeable batteries in the package to get you started. Once emptying out the batteries' available charge (typically nine hours) simply plug the player into an outlet via the included AC adaptor and begin charging. Charging time will take approximately three to four hours. If you want to use longer-lasting alkaline batteries (typically running for seventeen hours), then simply remove the rechargeable batteries and insert two AA batteries. With the low battery alert, keeping ahead of run-down batteries is a cinch.

The final key feature of the player is the included remote control. This in-line remote works in conjunction with the included headphones. The LCD screen will keep you up-to-date on your player's settings. The remote will allow you to sit across the room or bed and maintain full control of the player.

There are, of course, other notable features that should be described. With the thirty-two track program mode it is easy to create a rocking play list for those extra-difficult workouts. The DPC-885 also has two bass controls. Depending on your bass needs, choose between no extra bass, bass or full-bass. This will help counter the tendency of headphones running bass-low. Other features include: hold, resume, repeat and random play.

Not worth it..........2002-07-11

I was very disappointed with the performance of this card. It worked fine with the games that were shipped along with it, but beyond those games this card is good for nothing. Poor options, many textures were distorted and discolored. If you were planning on upgrading from the Diamond Viper to this, take my advice and stick with what you have.

Beware legacy products.......2002-06-25

You know what legacy products are, right? Those are computer peripherals or other hardware which aren't quite the same as similar products mentioned in the newest reviews. These other products get left behind when the manufacturer moves to a newer line and doesn't update drivers to work with the latest version of DirectX. More often, the company is acquired or simply goes out of business. It doesn't really matter whether the card is a good one or not - successive generations of software need successive updates of drivers. S3 is a case in point: they're not S3 anymore - they're SonicBlue, and their idea of product support involves a list of drivers that are probably older than the ones that came with the computer.

I'd recommend a GeForce card, but I haven't gotten one myself. It's sad, but unfortunately this is one of those situations when choice has more to do with a company's strengths than the products - the GeForce 4 may be junk, but you know the company will be around long enough to provide tech support, something 3DFx can't say. Whatever you do, avoid this and any other products based on S3 chipsets.

i bought this product when i had win ME, now that i've upgaded to XP, this card does not work proporly.... and just try to find a update driver lol..... so if your using xp forget this product....

The worst product I have ever bought.......2001-04-13

This is the worst product I have ever owned. It sounds all neat and cool when you look at the box and see "Who said anything about playing fair", Diamond is right, they don't play fair. Their tech support is the worst I have ever dealt with. I never got my computer to work when the video card was in. Also, here is not playing fair for you- Diamond (S3) switched to the name sonicblue and now doesn't provide the tech support that they say they do on the box. It took me six months to finaly get them to send me a new card and that didn't even work. I never knew that there could be so many problems with a video card. They ask you to change a million things when you call tech support. I will never buy anything from diamond again. Also, on top of the card not working, I now don't have any money to buy a new card. I have invested in a DVD drive which now can't run and I am running all of my high graphics games with software rendering and a 1MB video card. I repeat: DO NOT GET THIS CARD!!!!!!

i just bought a 900mhz amd athalon processor w/ 128 mega bytes of ram and a Diamond Z200 Viper II 3D AGP Graphics Card. Now this card works great except for when im playing mech warrior 4 then it jerks a tiny bit every once and awhile. but if ur looking for a cheap price and quality go with this card.
