Good Camera .......2005-03-10

I must say, I really do like this camera. However, for a photographer that may want to explore the fine art of photography, this system may make it a little hard to do that. I don't particularly like the digital aperture and shutter speed adjusting. I would rather spin the lens, but I guess that's just me wanting to keep it simple. I also don't like the fact that you don't really have a very nice set of options if you are shopping for a new lens.

The automatic focus really isn't that great. Manual focus is just so much better anyways!
I have taken many many rolls of film and have used this for black and white prints in the darkroom, and I have really been very impressed with the quality of prints. I can even blow up some of these prints to 11 x 14, which is often unheard of for 35mm film, but they honestly do come out quite nice.

I recently purchased a medium format camera, but I am definitely keeping this camera. It's lightweight, easy to use (with the exception of balancing the light meter), and a great camera.

But this if you are looking for an affordable, nice SLR camera!

Great, solid camera.......2004-03-01

We bought this camera for amateur photos from our wedding in 2002. It is a solid piece with simple, easy to understand controls. Some of the shots from this camera looked better than the professional ones. We also took this camera to Paris for our honeymoon. Our photos were absolutely beautiful in both indoor and outdoor settings. I highly recommend this camera.

Although I have never owned an SLR camera before this one, I have found it incredibly easy to use and to capture beautiful pictures. After looking at many other models and planning to purchase one myself, I was surprised to recieve this camera for Christmas. Though I am only a beginner and have only used the camera for a short time, I am already beginning to learn the basics of expert photography and am even starting to take advantage of the creative genius my camera allows me to possess, while still producing an expert, clear, crisp photograph. The instruction manual is clear and precise, the design fully functional and ergonomic, and the LCD panel a helpful addition to an already excellent model. I recommend this camera to any beginner looking for an inexpensive, high quality SLR camera.

I have bought a Minolta Maxxum 4 about an year back. It's a good camera. But unfortunately I have misplaced the product handbook of the same. I tried to search for the same in the website. Other than your site hardly I could find any other. But the manual is only 18 pages instead of 150 odd pages. Can you please help me?

If you're looking for a fast CD-rewritable drive with an excellent software bundle, Hewlett-Packard offers its CD-Writer Plus 9210e. This 8x/4x/32x drive may be a bit pricier than similar drives, but if you need a portable SCSI drive you can't do much better.

Since the drive uses a SCSI interface, you'll need a SCSI controller card and cable, which unfortunately are not included with this package. If you don't have a SCSI system and don't have any desire to transport the drive, you might be better off with a less expensive internal EIDE model. But if you're SCSI ready and want to hot-swap the drive between systems, it's an excellent option.

With a SCSI card preinstalled, the drive hookup was simple: we ran the installation program, set the drive to the SCSI number recommended, plugged it in, and rebooted our computer. SCSI is the fastest way to handle an external drive (and often internal as well), and we were pleased at how fast this drive wrote data. We filled a 650 MB CD in about 10 minutes on a Celeron 300 MHz system.

The CD-Writer Plus also features a nice software bundle. In addition to Adaptec's standard write software, Direct CD and Easy CD Creator, the drive ships with HP Disaster Recovery (for restoring your system after a crash) as well as Neato's CD Labeler to create your own CD labels.

Another nice feature of a SCSI drive is its easy portability. Just unplug the cable and carry this drive to wherever you need it. It's not particularly compact (the drive alone weighs almost five pounds), but it's much easier than swapping out an internal drive.

A SCSI drive isn't the easiest to configure, and we would have liked to see more installation and troubleshooting information than Hewlett-Packard offered in the thin manual and short setup guide. But if you know your way around SCSI peripherals, the CD-Writer Plus won't be a problem--and you'll enjoy its speed and versatility. --J. Curtis

Although i have had mine for only 6 months, i still have had no problems. i get a flawless 8x write every time. i am useing a adaptec 2930 scsi card. I highly recomend them. but as with any scsi device make sure you get a reliable scsi card. and remember the warrinty is one year(if you look at the owners manual). also it is best ot plug them straight into the wall not a surge protector or battery backup

brought product because it was external stop working for no reason after the 90day warranty expired it worked great for 90 days i think it was programmed to do so to much a coincidence. burned cds slowly and works best with tdk recordables other brands it spits back out the drive is not repairable support from hp is much to be desired.

I got this as a back 2 school gift. From best buy. Even though this my first notebook i think this is the best computer for the money. Surround sounding built-in speakers. Really bright screen, super fast (after booting up). This computer and windows media player are like salt and pepper! Super fast with DSL, stores tons of music. Super clear sound. Not really the big gamer type of computer. But basic games not requiring tons memory and video. IM ON IT RIGHT NOW, while listing 2 my favorite song! Really would tell any1 to get this bad boy!

Can't get much better for the price...........2006-01-25

i was comteplating between the 6124 and the Compaq Presario V2000. this really seemed to be the better buy. i am extremely pleased, even if the startup is a little slow. compared to my home PC, this is lightning. the main difference between the Presario and this one is the screen. 15.4 Ultrabright compared to Compaq's 14'' standard.

Awesome Computer .......2006-01-09

I purchased this laptop for not more than $700. When comparison shopping around that level (my price range for a laptop), this was the best option.

What makes this a great purchase is the fact that at this price range it was the only one with:

60 gb ram
512 memory
dvd writer
wireless b/g internally
fire wire, 4 usb, etc.

I also got it an amazing deal because when purchasing it I got a discount on all related merchandise, so I got some dvd's, a bag, paper, etc. all at a discount!!

When reading other reviews about the speed of it, Cry Me a River...I understand speed is important, but, the only time I notice the speed is when you first start it...once it is running, everything is really quick.

I have broadband, and switching pages is as quick, if not quicker, than my home pc (which is only a little over a year old).

Hooking up the network was so simple, and I can even use my printer wirelessly by setting it up on a home network!

Has a lot of features for your money.......2005-10-15

First I'll explain why I didn't give it 5 stars. It takes a while to load, maybe it's because it includes 90 days of Norton Antivirus. I use EZ Armor on my desktop and it loads way faster when you turn it on. Another thing, again Norton antivirus might be the reason why, while watching DVD's the image is not as fluid so I would guess DVD burner might have little use if you won't get good videos, and it doesn't include any video editing software, although you can burn videos with very little options on the Nero Express you get.
Now It's very good when you can get it for 750 bucks and it includes 512 MB of Ram, most notbooks with that price tag give you only 256 MB. Once the computer is loaded even though it has a Celeron Processor it is very fast.
- The Integrated Wi Fi card is very good, I tried it at the office today and only entered the key for accessing the network and it was off and running. Later in the day turned it on and it sign into the network automatically.
- The 4 in 1 integrated card reader is very convenient to transfer files between this and other computers.
- Another great feature, specially because you don't get it for 750 is a 15.4 widescreen.
- 4 USB ports, 1 Fire Wire, 1 Video S and a monitor Port
- The software included is brand name and well known, including Mc Afee Spyware (30 day trial), Norton Internet Security (90 Day Trial) Nero Express 6.0, Power DVD, Office Trial in case you don't want to buy it you can settle for Works 8, which seem more complete than the previous version.
- Lots of memory a 60, yes you're reading correctly 60 GB Hard Drive, not a lot by today standards, but most notebooks in its price range have only 40 GB.
-Dual Layer multi format DVD+/-RW with up to 8X DVD +/-R

I'm really pleased with this purchase, and forgot to mention it looks stylish.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the hub does not come with the power adapter needed to use it. I'm probably not going to try to find one, because adapters (especially big ones) are almost impossible to find. Also because I have Windows XP, and an earlier reviewer said it wasn't compatable. Just skip this one.

Nice, simple little hub.......2003-12-08

I bought this hub so I could have my Intellimouse Explorer mouse, joypad, and memory card reader all plugged into the back of my computer running Windows XP home edition, and it has worked great. I just tried to plug in a Creative Webcam NX Pro and was alerted that the hub did not have enough power to support it, so I will most likely be buying the external supply. I haven't needed it until now, and am glad that I wasn't forced to pay for it when I bought the hub.

No adapter, slow 1.1 speed........2003-10-01

This is 1.1, the much slower USB speed. Comes with no AC adapter, so you have to go buy one. You can get a fast one for the same money. I got this model on the spur of the moment at a dollar store (Big Lots) and now I know why they're dumping 'em on dummies like me. :)... The last reviewer says it isn't XP compatible, i wouldn't know, but I'm not going to buy an adapter just to find out.

Out of the box, this USB hub is not compatible with Windows XP... and the product does not come with a driver.
The product has a port for a 5V DC power adapter which is also not included but it is unclear whether this power adapter is even necessary...
