Just install 2 AA batteries (not included) to activate this feature. In the event of a power failure--or if you disconnect the AC power cord to move the clock--Sure Alarm will maintain your clock and alarm settings for the life of the batteries, ensuring that the alarms will sound at the appointed time (while operating on battery power, the alarms will sound only as buzzer).

CD player stopped working.......2007-01-03

After about 4 months the CD player stopped working completely in this clock. One night I played a CD fine, that CD finished and I put in a new CD. It attempted to turn the disc, stopped, and the display showed "no." It has refused to play a disc ever since.

As I read through other reviews I am noticing that others have had a similar experience.

Buyer Beware, this is a poor product.

Just to clarify a few details for those picky consumers like myself...

1) Alarm 1 can only be used for CD, alarm 2 for radio. This is a disappointment as I like to set both alarms to CD for my two different wake up calls during the week.

2) The CD alarm will only play track 1. Again, disappointment.

3) No gentle wake and the volume of the radio when you last use it is the volume it wakes at.

4) The controls to set the clock and alarms only go in one direction so if you accidentally pass the number, you have to scroll through all am and pm numbers again to get back to the passed number. A small detail, but one I find annoying!

5) The unit is rather large and bulky and takes up ALOT of space. This is not ideal for those living in a tiny NYC apt.

6) The nature sounds are VERY noisy. The chimes I can tolerate but the the other three are not very calming. Plus this length of the loop is not very long so it quickly feels more like a ridiculously ornate metronome.

These are all details that I wish had been noted in the description for I would not have bought this expensive model (I stupidly paid more at a Barnes and Noble that what Amazon is offering). Needless to say, I am returning it.

Not worth the money - 0 stars!.......2006-08-17

CD player stopped working after a couple of weeks of use. After 5 months of use the clock was running 3 minutes fast and when I tried to change the time it did not allowed me to do it. This item is a piece of garbage.

Poor LCD display on this clock makes it not worth buying........2006-04-25

I really like all the functions available on this clock. The one complaint I have is the LCD display.

First, the LCD backlight makes it way too bright for nighttime use--even at the dimmer setting. It's like having a small, fully lit computer screen in your bedroom at night.

Second, in order to read the display, your eyes have to be level with it. This is true regardless of whether it's day or night. When we put the clock on top of my wife's dresser, it was impossible to read from the bed.

For these reasons, we returned the clock to the store where we bought it. I ordered a newer Timex model (T617) in the hope that it has a better display.

Good Camcorder Good Sound.......2002-12-27

The sound on this camcorder is good. My 12 year old son was able
to make a very understandable commentary on his video shoot.
The video is very good, even on standard "SP" mode-not S-VHS.
I was able to use zoom to follow a cat outdoors at 30+ feet and
on playback on a 48" RPTV I could see each of his whiskers
very clearly. The controls are not in the most ideal position.
The camera has good balance. I feel this a good family use
camera with a lot of features to keep it up to date.

JVC sounds Bad.......2002-04-09

I recently purchased the Jvc GR-SXM740U Camcorder and took it on a trip. The picture quality was super. However I was very dissatisfied when I returned home and started to view the movies I had taken. The sound was awful. I filmed some of our movies outdoors and you sort of expect the outdoor sound quality to be less the perfect. But when I watched the indoor movies I could not believe it. Four people in one room and at times three of us could not be heard. It gave me a headache trying to listen to it. Then randomly the camera would just pick up stray noises outside. So beware of this model if you value sound and video.

The Digital Research DRPARAL1 Bi Directional Parallel Port Card is a Worderful Addition, for Printers/scanners & Other Multi-Function Devices HOWEVER I DO NOT Reccomend this product for installation by Novice users. Because there are complications Configuring a I/O IRQ Address and Also Jumper Positioning is Cruitial. I reccomend one to read the instruction manual AT LEAST 2X Before starting and keep it handy for installation. It is a LIFE SAVER In the installation process. Once you get past that it is a Wonderful product.

Plug & Play?.......2000-01-13

I bought this card to add a parallel port because I have a laser printer and a color inkjet printer (it's piggy-backed through a scanner.) I had some conflict problems with the initial installation. The guide helped resolve these. BUT-my laser printer worked with LPT 1 (the computers original parallel port.) I couldn't get the color printer to print right. I tried everything - resolving conflicts etc. Finally, I switched my laser printer to LPT 2 (this new card) and the color printer to LPT 1. Hey, it worked! What was I doing wrong? I don't know. But it's fixed and working. It's a cheap way to add a second printer or scanner if you've got the free slots. Beats the heck out of an expensive A/B type switch.

As an American living in Europe, I have found this translator very useful. The comparatively large number of languages included ensures that I can communicate, on a basic level, in almost every country I visit. There are quite a few phrases included, and they are catagorized by situation (Emergencies, Dining, etc). However, I generally use the translator as a "point and talk" aid. It also helps when talking to people who speak a little English, but can't think of that "one word" they are trying to explain. The words in the databank are fairly extensive, but are, by no means, complete dictionaries.

Now, there are several drawbacks. This will not be helpful for those seriously studying a language. There are no genders, conjugation, or other grammatical aids. Also, the interface is somewhat difficult to use. To translate a word requires anywhere from 6 to 9 button pushes before you can enter the word. There is also no back light. The translator includes a databank, clock, currency converter, and some other features which I honestly have never used.

The bottom line is: If you want to be able to say "I want to eat dinner and stay in a nice hotel" in 11 languages, it is for you. If you want to compose an poem, or write a thesis on quantum physics in 11 languages...look elswhere.
