So so.......2006-12-29

I had this camera for about a year and a half. Compared to the one I had before it, this camera was a big improvement. But overall I wasn't all that happy with it. The picture quality in low light was pretty bad, and in all but the best lighting conditions it refused to focus. If I could get it to focus and flash the picture quality was fine.

I bought mine refurbished, and perhaps I should have taken the advice of one of the other reviewers and checked to see how many were being sold refurbished. 2 weeks before Christmas it died. I was out with friends for the evening, with lots of photo-ops, when suddenly the flash stopped working. I figured it had something to do with how cold it was, cuz we were outside. The next day, after it had been inside all day, I tried it again, and the flash still didn't work. The next day I tried taking a picture in a situation where I didn't need the flash, and realized that it wasn't just the flash that was dead. The camera still took a picture, but was only capturing about half the light it should have. I searched the internet for answers and came up empty.

I'm an electrical engineer, and have been known to be able to fix broken electronics in the past. So I figured I would open the camera up and see if it was something simple. What I ended up doing instead was completely dismantling the camera, because it was impossible to take apart without doing irreparable damage.

I was impressed with this camera for only the first few months that I had it, and then only because it was a big step up from the previous camera. But couldn't justify getting a new one because it still worked like it was supposed to, it just wasn't designed to be a very good camera. When it died I was actually overjoyed, because it meant I could shop for a new one. I could have done without the stress 2 weeks before Christmas, but luckily I was able to get a new camera in time for the holiday celebrations.

Great Starter Camera.......2006-07-24

This is my first digital camera and I have owned this camera for about 3 years now and really like it except for a few things.
Pros
-Produces great pictures in good light, and in some but not all, dark light situations
-Uses AA batteries which are easy to find if yours run down
-quick focusing
-Can zoom optically whilst taking movie

Cons
-Takes a long time to power up and get ready to take a picture (about 7 seconds) and this has lead to me missing a few good shots whilst driving past some great scenery.
-Recycle time is slow about 3 seconds
-Movie quality is poor with no sound
-Is bulky to carry
-Shot selection would be easier to perform if accessed via a dial and not a menu option.
-Batteries do not last for 200 pictures

The above cons are not really major issues for a camera in this price range as it does take great pictures which is what really counts at the end of the day.

Good camera for price.......2004-09-28

I have this camera for a bit more than a year now. Overall, this is a great camera for 169.00 I paid for at that time. I bought this so that I don't have to use my regular minolta maxxum 5 all the time to take pictures.
Pros:
1) Tons of features
- Manual controls
- Macro focus
- Night shot mode
- Manual Flash controls

2) Real canon glass lense. Decent optical zoom and combine it with digital zoom and you get very good coverage.

3) LCD display is sharp even in birght sun light

4) The remote ! The remote is awsome. No more running to the seat after for self timer.

5) Last but not least. Picture quality is really good in good lighting. Contrasting colors come up very nicely. Like pictures of flower bed.

Cons:
1) Poor picture at low light
2) Cycling time is a bit slow
3) For macro photo focus is always not very sharp

Great feature set, poor reliability.......2004-09-09

I have owned this camera for 2 years now and it finally bit the dust.

I still think it holds the title for best bang for the buck in the 3-megapixel range. I really enjoyed all of the manual features and fine-tuning capabilities. The remote control is a great feature for group photos. The long exposure times can generate some very interesting night shots. In short, I don't have any complaints about the features of the camera.

Last weekend the camera died. I got just over 2 years and 2000 pictures out of it. I researched the failure to see if there was a known fix out there on the Internet. No such luck.

I did discover that there seems to be some serious reliability issues with this particular model. I found 1 good piece of advice to find out how reliable a camera is: check the completed auctions on your favorite auction website and see what percentage of the cameras being sold are non-functional or are manufacturer reconditioned units. If found about 60% of the 65 units sold were dead or rebuilt PDR-3300's. I checked the Canon A70 for comparison - only about 7% of the 320 units sold were dead or rebuilt.

My recommendation would be to either purchase an extended warranty or just don't expect a lot of life out of the camera. It sounds like I did pretty well with a 2 year run. I'll miss this camera, but won't buy another Toshiba.

Decent price, decent pictures.......2004-05-23

I bought this camera in early 2002. Pictures are great for the computer viewing and e-mailing. Program that comes with it is easy to use to download pictures. Picture quality when you get prints done from a photo store aren't very clear unless you always use full size and quality for every picture you plan to get on prints. Even then they have a slight "fuzz" to them. When I bought this camera it was 3 times the price, but it has just now started having problems with picture taking 2 years later. At this current price you can't beat what it can give you. Has lots of options so you can mess with the pictures you take as if you had a regular SLR type of camera. Great for the "point and shoot" type also.

definately worth $30.......2006-05-26

I bought this speaker because the one that came with my surround sound set was tiny. During large scale movies (like Lord of the Rings) I couldn't hear the dialogue because the music was so loud. After about a month with this speaker I am greatly satisfied. It's loud, gives enough bass, and is quite large (look at the specs). Overall it's a 7.5 out of 10. Good buy for the casual surround sound setup.

Just had the 2nd phone fail on me today. Both had worked fine for about 6 months, then the handset failed for absolutely no reason. The answering machine part of it still works, but no dial tone on the handset.

Not Too Bad.......2003-04-15

The sound quality of the hand set is excellent. The hand set is robust - dropped it on the floor several times with no problems. Phone controls easy to use. The one poor feature is the quality of the sound of the played back messages. Voices are garbled and difficult to understand. I've put up with this for about a year and a half and I'm looking for a new phone.

Printing, scanning, and copying--all in one--this low-profile device makes an ideal addition to any home PC system with low-volume printing needs. The Lexmark X75 can print from a PC or a Mac, scan images to your computer, and copy in black and white or color. It is one of a new generation of all-in-ones, a good deal smaller and neater than similar earlier devices.

Taking paper from a feed tray which folds up from the top surface of the machine to a near vertical position at the back, the X75 feeds to a pullout tray at the front, or directly onto the desktop. It uses the same print mechanism as the Z25 and Z34 printers, with the same diminutive color and black ink cartridges. For replacement, the top section of the all-in-one hinges up, and a red plastic stay springs out to support it, like the hood of an old sports car.

The lid of the machine lifts up to reveal an A4-size flatbed scanner, which can scan at up to 600 x 1,200 dpi resolution. A small control section at the front right of the top panel offers power, page feed, scan, black copy, and color copy buttons, plus two status lights. The real power of the machine rests in its software control, however. As well as the driver for the X75, the accompanying CD-ROMs provide OCR software, a photo editor, and fax software.

Print quality from the X75 is pretty good, with dense black text and bright, reasonably precise colors. Color print, as indicated by a 5-by-3-inch test photo, showed up well, with little noticeable banding. We noticed minor dithering, but the dither dots were so small that they were hard to see. Print times were also good for a machine at this price, though it's never going to break any speed records.

Copying was not as successful. The printed copy lost sharpness and color depth--blacks came through grey and colours looked muddy. We compensated for this, to an extent, through software manipulation, but black-and-white copies are, in general, much more successful than colour ones.

All in all, the X75 is an ideal multifunction device for home or small office use that takes up little space but delivers big results. --Simon Williams

Not worth the Ink!.......2007-05-13

I've tried to enjoy this printer, but I've come to realize that it is a real lemon. Don't lose the hardware driver because you'll have to reinstall it at least once every six weeks. The ink consumption is unreal....you may as well buy their stock if your going to by thier ink it may help you feel good about blowing your $$. The printer is louder than my garbage disposal and I have disturbed neighbors trying to use this printer at night. I have attempted to print large documents and left my office only to return to see my Lexmark having a seizure on my desk making sounds that would only be appropriate coming from my Jeep, forcing me to transfer print jobs to my other printers one too many times. I have owned HP's and Canon's and have gotten greater reliability and satisfaction out of their products. The Lexmark has performed miserably for the past 3 years while my older printers have continued to perform well. It's going out in Monday's trash. In fact I intend on giving it a proper sendoff........when the trash truck pulls in front of my house I want to run from my garage with Lexmark in hand go over to the back of the trash truck and slam it down with two hands like SHAQ!

One of the worst printers ever.......2007-01-29

I was excited to buy this printer over a year ago, but now I just want to throw it out the window. First off, from the very beginning the software didn't always work right with my Windows XP. Anytime a document had to be cancelled, I had to reboot my computer in order to print anything else because the pending documents list would freeze up. Then there's the usual problem with not getting much usage out of an ink cartridge. But now, the paper feed doesn't work, requiring about ten attempts and usually a manual insertion of paper to get the paper to feed into the printer. The scanning feature works well, but copy quality isn't all that good, and scanning pictures also distorts the image quality quite a bit. All in all, I'm very disappointed in Lexmark and will never buy another.

I just put my fist through mine. Literally. I just wasted $62 on ink carts with the false hopes it would actually work after not even being used for over a year. Only to find it was tempermental and did'nt want to feed paper at ALL. Sending this to a smelting facility and burning it with the heat of 1000 suns is not enough of a sendoff for this peice of [...]. Die Lexmark, you second rate joke of a company. Next time, let monkeys engineer your next peice of hardware, I just MIGHT be inclined to buy it then.

Diehard Lexmark fan.......2005-04-26

I am a diehard lexmark fan. I will not buy anything else. This is the worst lexmark I have owned. The software will not install on my Windows XP laptop. I finally got it working on my Macs. It scans great! It prints only "ok". The "photo quality" prints are downright horrible. I have 4 Lexmark printers and this is the ONLY negative experience I have had with any of them.

This has been the best multifunction machine!! The quality of scans, the ease of editing, and the clarity of prints is amazing. Copies are a breeze, and the fax capabilities make this a must for any home office user!! I have had many copiers, scanners and printers in the past, and none have lasted...but I have never regretted owning this one!!
