Toshiba's SD3805 DVD-CD changer is bursting with quality, features, and nice design touches that enhance movie watching and listening to music. In our evaluation, the SD3805 won points for its ColorStream Pro progressive-scan video, quality analog-audio outputs, good MP3 navigation, convenient "top menu" feature, and detailed picture zoom (up to 6x!).
Whether your living room is currently home to a high-definition-ready or full HDTV, or you're merely thinking of "someday," the SD3805 is equipped to deliver the full potential of DVDs. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, providing higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The "top menu" button zips past the FBI warnings, previews, and other pre-menu annoyances written into many commercial DVDs. Disc marker lets you set up to seven points on a disc for easy reference, and the player recalls the points with beat accuracy, but resets the memory as soon as you load a new disc.
With a surround receiver capable of receiving a 96 kHz digital input, the SD3805 can be set to output a full 24-bit, 96 kHz audio signal, whereas most players down-convert to 48 kHz at the digital output. When the unit plays MP3 CDs, its onscreen display shows just enough of a track's title information for you to see the artists' names and the song titles. Direct track selection is inactive for MP3 discs (use the menu-navigation buttons to select tracks), but the repeat feature works fine. Direct-track access is lightning-quick on audio CDs.
The player's only serious drawback is one common to many multidisc changers: it's a little slow when loading discs, changing discs, and even powering up. And because there's no direct-disc access from the remote, you have to hit "disc skip" repeatedly to go from disc one to disc five. But for patient souls seeking a beautiful combination of features, quality, and affordability, the SD3805 is a great choice. --Michael Mikesell

Good DVD player - NOT a good 5 CD changer.......2004-06-01
Nobody really needs a 5 disc DVD player (most people only watch 1 movie at a time and don't mind switching discs in betwee). The point in having a 5 disk unit is to replace a 5 disc CD player.
This unit works fine as a DVD player however it leaves much to be desired as a CD player.
The important things to note are the cons from the Amazon review - Slow to change discs, and no direct cd selection from the remote.
First: there is no 'shuffle/random/continuous, all discs/one disc' type options as you would find on a 5 disc CD player. You don't seem to be able to stick 5 cd's in and have them play through them all. It will play one disc and stop - or you can program it to play tracks from each CD.
Second: Not being able to select a disc directly from the Remote means you have to 'disc skip' through ALL the disks to get to the one you want. This is made all the more painful due to the fact that the player has to load/read and identify each disc before it will skip to the next one -i.e. pressing disc skip 3 times doesn't skip 3 discs.
Last: Not only is there no direct access to a disc from the remote - but the player doesn't even respond to the direct access codes for toshiba players that DO have that feature. I.e. It's not just that the remote doesn't have the buttons - the player is not designed to work that way - despite having direct access buttons on the front of the unit.
This makes a pretty decent DVD player, but if what you are looking for is something to replace your CD player as well, I'd take a pass on this. Try looking for a DVD changer made by a company that makes good 5 disc CD players.
won't play CD's.......2003-06-26
This unit plays movies but will not play a music CD. It starts to play, jumps and starts over. I have tried many CDs and it isn't just older ones but it treats new ones the same way. Unfortunately, I didn't test a CD while it was in the first three months warranty. I am now trying to get it fixed but can't get a repair scheduled within two weeks at the earliest. I am very unimpressed.
The Best DVD Player I Have Seen!.......2003-02-12
I wanted to upgrade my old DVD player, so I picked up this Toshiba multi-disc player.
I am quite happy with it. The picture is incredibly sharp hooked up to my High-definition tv. I am able to take advantage of the progressive scan.
The sound was so good that I used this player to replace my CD player, and now I just have one player for my DVD's and CD'S.
It really is made well, and works flawlessly, and unlike other instruction manuals this one is easy to follow.
This is my first Toshiba product and I am really impressed. I would highly recommend it.
Simply the Best!.......2003-02-04
I wanted to get a DVD player that could hold multiple DVD's and have outstanding picture quality and sound.
I first tried a Panasonic model but did not have much luck with that. Then a friend of mine told me that Toshiba invented the DVD and makes some of the best players on the market.
I loved this thing from the momment I got it. It comes on and says hello. It has great surround sound and the picture looks so good it is almost surreal.
Definitely pick this DVD player and you will be extremely happy.
Nice and Easy.......2003-01-22
I was looking for a simple to use DVD player with progressive scan and 5 disc capability.
This player fit the bill and rated rather highly. The manual is very easy to use, almost "idiot proof".
The player was able to play all my burned CD's and MP3's with no problem and I hear that it can play some burned DVD's as well. Not bad.
The progressive scan has a jaw dropping picture on my High Definition TV, and the sound was fantastic as well. Try the surround sound, and you will feel like you are in the movie theater.
I would definitely recommend this product.

Super Sound.......2007-03-23
I got these speakers for the rear channels of my surround system and they are perfect; great sound, wide dispersion, small enough to blend in, and a nifty keyhole in the back to allow mounting them directly on the wall. The sound is so true I belive you could use them as front speakers in a smaller system/environment and be pretty satisfied although the perfect fit is in a surround setup. Very well constructed and nice flat black finish. Highly recommended.

I bought these for my father who is temporarily bedridden. They are ideal for the rough treatment this entails-lots of cord tugging, pulling and crushing. They block out noise better than the open-ear style too.
Cheap, Comfortable, Over-Ear Headphones.......2007-06-05
I bought these to use at work after seeing a co-worker with them. These are big over-ear headphones that naturally muffle surrounding sound even when not producing sound. They sound fine, given their price. They certainly work great for what I'm using them for.
Koss R-80 Headphones are great!.......2007-03-10
I have always been typing at home in the midst of noise and activity and have had a hard time hearing the dictation. These headphones are tremendous. They cut outside sound down to almost nothing and I can focus on the transcription. It has upped the clarity 100%. It took a little time getting used to having my whole ear covered but after that it was great.
Quality 'phones at a quality price - a music lovers review.......2007-01-29
I don't know if I agree with the reviewer that had a problem with the durability of the UR20's. I am a college student in Iowa, and anyone who lives in Iowa knows that the temperature extremes are the worst part of living in the state. I use a portable CD player to walk to class on nearly a daily basis and take my CD player wherever I go, which makes it a 'multiple time per day' basis. The Koss UR20's have put up with temperatures as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit, and as low as -20 degrees, in addition to being stuffed into a tightly packed backpack for an hour or more once I actually get to class. The UR20's put up with the abuse better than any headphone I have ever owned with the exception of the Sony MDR-V150, but with vastly greater sound quality.
Since the UR20's have become unavailable, I have been searching and searching for a replacement brand but am continually disappointed by the new models I try. All attempts either provide poor sound or woefully short durability. I currently alternate between the Sony MDR-V150 and the Koss UR19 but both of those headphones keep me from turning my music volume all the way up on my CD player due to bass distortion at those high volumes; in addition the UR19 breaks frequently (I have gone through 3-4 pairs of UR19's in the span my original pair of UR20's lasted me).
The only knock I have on this product is a feature most reviewers rave about: the long cord. As I mentioned, I most frequently take this pair of headphones out walking, and the 8 ft. cord is cumbersome and can create accidents. That's how I finally broke my pair: I stepped on the cord when I was walking and ripped it out of the earpiece. That is, however, expected in a pair of headphones advertised for "home audio."
The bottom line: An excellent pair of headphones at a reasonable price. If you are a big music fan but not neccessarily a 'professional,' BUY THESE HEADPHONES IF YOU CAN.
The average R-80.......2007-01-04
First I'd like to say that these were my second headphone purchase and I'm a bit disappointed(first was Numark HF125). I've used the r-80 with a CD player, an ipod, and then hooked both up to an amplifier. The difference in quality was noticeable with an amp or even a mixer, probably by 25%. What I've noticed was that the bass wasn't as clean or deep sounding as the cheaper Numark. The Numark did not rattle or distort with the volume at 75% high whereas the Koss R-80 was just the opposite. The vocals were decent though. This is probably better for watching TV or movies.
The build feels a bit cheap, but it doesn't break. Outside noise doesn't get fully blocked out but then again, its not an in-ear monitor.
What I loved about these headphones were its long telephone-like cord that doesn't tangle. It felt pretty comfy on my head, but i still did feel a bit of pressure after wearing it for more than an hour(I've got a large head), but not to the point where it hurts or annoys me too much.
