Customer Reviews:
horrible camera.......2007-07-20
hmm...where should i start....
the adjustment for macro/portrait/landscape is on the front of the camera and easy to forget about. the shutter isen't to fast, if your moving even the slightist amount the picture will come out blurry, so its not good for people without a very steady hand.
as others have said, anytime you open the battery cover to change the batteries (it does go threw em like crazy) or the SD card, you have to reset the tiem and date. this isen't to big a deal since unless you really want to use them you can leave them with there default incorrect times. however, something that truely IS a pain, and very obnoxious, is that the picture settings revert to default EVERY time you turn the camera off. the default being medium quality and large size. which really sucks if your trying to max out the number of pics you can take.
overall, its a horrible camera.
the old bulky digital camera i had before getting this one was even better at taking pics.
Quality Photos, Inexpensive Price, Decent Camera.......2006-01-06
Yes, this camera eats batteries quickly. However, rechargables help remedy this issue dramatically. The best feature of this camera is the price; you def get a lot for what you pay for. The worst feature of this camera is either the flash taking 15 - 45 seconds to recharge (due to batteries and poor design) or having to reset the time/date AND personal camera settings every time you open the battery compartment (including to swap SD cards).
The video function is far better than other point & shoot cameras in that it does not have a time limit on the recording length. However, the film is email-quality at best and there is no recorded audio, which you will find in some cases is annoying. I have never been able to use this camera as a webcam as stated by Amazon.com. Also, the camera only has a digital zoom, which is completely worthless in my opinion. Optical zoom is the way to go. Digital zooming can be done with ANY photo editing software later at home. Yes, optical zoom lenses protrude from the camera as stated in earlier reviews, however, in most cameras the lens retracts once the camera is shut down.
Lastly, there are two versions of this camera, A & B (Check Vivitar website for more info). From my experience, the A version does not offer the digital zoom feature. There may be other limitations as well. The only way to tell which version you have is to check the serial number on the bottom of the camera. If it begins with A than it's an A-version, with B, it's a B-version.
Overall, I highly recommend this camera to anyone on a budget and those only interested in a simple point & shoot. Serious photographers should invest in a better-designed camera with optical zoom and an internal battery that saves the camera's settings.
This is a great camera!.......2005-12-28
I've had this camera for 2 years now and I love it. Unfortunately, I loaned it to someone who dropped it. It still works but now it won't hold the SD card. I use this camera for business and I have to be able to take a lot of pictures at once, so I'm looking to buy another just like it.
The pictures turn out great. I have a photo printer and I have used it to print photos taken with this camera that range in size from wallets to 8 x 10's. Everyone who sees the work is extremely pleased. You do have to reset the date and time every time you open the battery compartment, but I don't care to have this information printed on my pictures, so I just skip it. The only problem that I've had with it is battery life. I had used rechargeable batteries for a while, but they have to be recharged too soon. I recently started using a camera battery, CRV3. I purchase them at a drug store for about $8, but the battery lasts so much longer than regular AA or rechargeables. I highly recommend this camera!
BATTERY EATING MONSTER.......2005-10-16
This thing eats batteries, it can literally go through a set of 2AA batteries in 15 pictures or less. I have had it over a year now and I rarely use it because it is such a pain to put in new batteries every time you want to snap some pictures. I just use my camera phone now to take pictures.
Solution to short battery life (and this camera's flaw).......2005-02-27
I have been using this model for over 16 months now, and I find it to be extremely well-made and it takes fantastic photos that print well at 8"x10".
I HAVE RECOMMENDED THIS MODEL TO A NUMBER OF FRIENDS, AND THOSE WHO OPTED FOR IT HAVE BEEN VERY SATISFIED.
SOLUTION TO SHORT BATTERY LIFE
------------------------------
A number of other reviews reference short battery life. I found a rechargeable solution that fits hand-in-glove with this camera. Rayovac markets a 15-minute rechargeable system (the Rayovac I-C3 system) that charges the batteries in 15 minutes (really!) and I have used them with this camera exclusively since the first few sets of typical batteries drained after a few photos. Depending on the flash settings, I can get anywhere from a few hours to a full day of use. The most photos I took on a single charge (without the flash) was 279 (using an SD card for storage)! I keep two sets, but because they charge so fast, I can throw them in the charger before a party and need not worry about missing those picture-perfect moments!
THIS CAMERA'S MAJOR FLAW
------------------------
The one real pain in the butt with this camera is how it loses its date and time information every time you open the battery cover (to change batteries or insert/remove SD cards). After a few dozen times, setting the date becomes almost automatic, but it simply is a nuissance. It would have been relatively simple and inexpensive to add an internal battery and chip to maintain the time settings while the battery cover is open, and I would have paid a $10-$15 premium for that feature. DON'T LET THIS KEEP YOU FROM BUYING THIS CAMERA--I WOULD HAVE WANTED TO KNOW THIS BEFORE I MADE THE DECISION TO BUY, BUT I AM EXTREMELY SATISFIED WITH THE CAMERA OVERALL.

NETGEAR Wireless Digital Music Player
ASIN: B000065UVL |
Product Description
The RX-DP9VBK is a THX select certified receiver, which has 5 independent amplifiers built in along with 7.1 output so you can take full advantage of the THX surround EX decoder. The zero interference technology eliminates any interference within the receiver to produce exceptional sound quality. The built-in headphone virtual surround system is compatible with multichannel software like Dolby Digital, DTS Surround, etc. Thanks to the new signal processing algorithms used by the high-performance DSP, you can enjoy a natural surround sound through the headphones. To improve CD and DVD sound reproduction the RX-DP9VBK uses a CC (Compensative Compression) Converter and a 192kHz/24-bit PEM DD audio DA Converter to recreate the sound as it was originally intended. This receiver is packed with features, which makes it a world-class receiver.
Customer Reviews:
Still a home theater best buy........2005-12-26
I bought this receiver about 5 years ago now, maybe more, not too long after it hit the market. It was then, and still is now, one of the only THX Select certfied receivers for a sub thousand dollar price tag, and its generally hanging around the $700 area, probably less by now, making it an extremely viable option for anyone who is interested in THX fidelity without the usually much higher price.
It has all the customization options you could hop for, allowing you to tweak each individual speaker's output just in case you didn't match them properly, allowing you to compensate for distance, volume, and even adjust individual EQs for each speaker. It's got a boatload of DTS presets, and is capable of making just about any source sound like it was meant to be heard in THX 7.1 surround sound.
There are only a few downfalls it suffers from, the first being the fact that it only has an internal amplifier for 5 channels, meaning you'll need to pick up a seperate amp if you want to use it with a full THX surround sound setup, which could mean you've now spent more money then a comparable model from another company. (Although when i bought it, buying a cheap amp and this receiver still beat the pants off the next cheapest model, which was considerably more expensive for the same funcionality.)
The second downside of this receiver is that nowadays, some of the inputs and outputs its using for video and sound are getting pushed out of home theater use. More and more products are starting to use HDMI, DVI, and optical mediums, rather then the component, S-Video, and composite inputs and outputs this receiver is really made to work with. (I beleive it has one or two optical connections, but if you have, or are looking to use, a bunch of newer other components like upscaling DVD players and HD tuner and TV, this receiver might be a tad obsolete.)
This was a great receiver five years ago, and in my opinion, its still a great one today - althout in the near future it may become obsolete.
AWESOME !!!!.......2004-04-24
I purchased this receiver in 2001 and have been enjoying it since then. Home Theater did a review of it in January 2003 and gave it a very good review. The only, minor, thing I didn't like was that it didn't have any additional outlets. I wanted to plug in an additional amp through a switched outlet to take advantage of the 7.1 option. Other than that this is a very versitile receiver.
Satisfied.......2004-01-14
Recieved product in New condition as promised and fast. Easily tracked online with UPS. No problems with this merchant for this purchase.
Don't buy this (here).......2002-07-13
By all accounts this receiver from JVC is awesome. It's made using the same components as the more expensive RX-DP10VBK but without the extra channels...
I plan to buy this receiver but Amazon.com's pricing is outrageous ...

Customer Reviews:
Excellent Product!!.......2003-08-28
I received this drive in 1 day after purchase! The I/O magic drive is used externally with my IBM thinkpad A20M, 700 Mhz,with Windows 98ME, and it works flawlessly. There were no errors, comflicts, or other problems. In my view, the trick to installing the drive is to utilize the NERO software. As I read the prior review, I would suggest that the set up wizard instructions in the users manual be skipped. Install the driver, but then go to the NERO software installation procedure, and you're ready to go! In fact, I started copying the supplied CD-RW disk within 15 minutes after opening the box! I am very satisfied with this product, and its gets 5 stars...
Stay away from this CD-RW.......2002-12-06
If I could give this CD-RW zero stars I could. The editorial review says plug-n-play and you're all set. Nothing could be further from the truth.
I installed this CD-RW through the USB 1.1 port on my T20 IBM Thinkpad (PIII 700MHz, 128RAM, Win2k). Right from the get go it wouldn't work.
1) You can't see roughly 95% of the files on exisitng data CD-RW's.
2) When writing files to CD-RW it wrote a strange accompanying file in the same folder for each data file. When opened with WordPad, the new file contains thousands of Chinese characters (no kidding, Chinese! Not those funny Windows characters but real Chinese).
3) All formatting of CD-RW's fails within one minute.
4) 50% of the time you can't even eject your CD's with the eject button. Even when the drive is not reading or writing and "ready" light is on, the open/close button simply does nothing. You have to turn the drive off and reboot just to get your CD out.
I checked the I/O Magic website and it is cluttered with message boards complaining about all kinds of other weird problems with I/O magic optical products. The comments on technical support are no better.
Don't waste your money. Look somewhere else for your CD-RW solution.

works great, but poor support from Lacie.......2004-01-07
Easy plug and play on both USB 1.0 or USB 2.0 with Windows XP professional. Had some problems with drive letter assignment on one of my computers, I solved problem myself and after two days have not heard from lacie.com support.
I should note that I have only used with CF cards, but it has worked great under both USB 1.0 and 2.0

Product Description
A Logitech best-seller: a high-precision mouse with a scroll wheel and an 800-dpi optical sensor for smooth motion on almost any surface. Here's a mouse that fits comfortably in either hand and delivers 800-dpi optical precision that's twice as fast and accurate as standard optical mice. It glides across almost any surface without a ball or other moving parts, letting you decide where and how you work. And the scroll wheel makes navigating documents easier and even doubles as a third button.
Amazon.com Review
The Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical is the entry-level device in Logitech's optical mouse line. It has a pleasant blue and gray color scheme and a translucent bottom that allows its red light to radiate outward so it illuminates your hand. The body feels sturdy and is shaped for use with the left or the right hand. The only concern we had with construction of the device was the metallic "clink" sound the mouse buttons made when pressed, instead of the typical "click" noise of most mouse buttons--but we had no problem performing click or double-click actions.
Installation on both a PS/2 port and a USB port was quick. Using Windows Me, we just plugged it in and started using it without having to install any software or drivers. Windows 98 users plugging the mouse into a USB port will need to install the USB drivers before they can use the device, so have the installation disc handy.
Installing the software that comes with the mouse gives you the added functionality of being able to program the mouse buttons--and even the wheel--to perform a variety of different commands. You can also customize such things as pointer appearance, cursor speed and acceleration, and mouse orientation. Installation is in two steps: installation of the software and then setup of the mouse to perform as you wish. Both the installation wizard and the setup wizard were straightforward. The user's manual was easy to read and contains instructions in English and Spanish.
We tested the mouse on a variety of different surfaces to see how it performed. Wood, plastic, cardboard, paper, a notebook, and a pant leg all worked well. Our only problem came when we tried it out on clear glass. The cursor didn't move at all. Opaque glass worked fine, though. All in all, this mouse delivers good performance at a terrific price. --Patricia Atherly
Pros:
- No moving parts to break down
- Quick installation
- Works on a variety of different surfaces
- No ball to clean
Cons:
- "Clink" noise that buttons make sounds cheap
- Not shaped ergonomically
Amazon.com Product Description
The first thing you'll notice when you start using the Logitech WheelMan Mouse is the red glow coming from the bottom. That's because this mouse reads movement optically instead of with a ball, which means you get improved accuracy and fewer moving parts to break down. And you don't need a mouse pad--most smooth surfaces will do. You can also go for months without having to stop to clean it, unlike conventional mice, which collect gunk in the ball and need to be cleaned all the time. Its buttons can be programmed to perform common commands, and you can use the wheel to scroll down windows without scroll bars. The WheelMan fits comfortably in either the left or right hand. It is for use with PCs or Macs.

Works good........2007-08-23
I'm using this mouse for a few year now and had no problems with it.
Works fine, Click a little too loud.......2007-07-05
Works fine and was at a great price. If i were to get picky, I'd say the click was a little too loud.
Not quite as good as the last Logitech mouse.......2007-04-25
I've had my old Logitech mouse for more years than I can remember. In the past few weeks the wheel started acting up and I finally decided it was time to order a new mouse. This one looked a lot like the old one so I ordered it. I plugged it in and it worked right away. So far so good. The wheel worked great! Another plus. The pointer was true and the wire long enough to suit my needs. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, but then the annoying clicking of the mouse brought me back around. click, click, click.... I decided I could get used to that over time. Then I realized that this mouse does not have one of the buttons the old one does. A simple push of that button and I'd go back a screen on the Internet. The new mouse has a round thing that looks like another button, but it doesn't do anything -- it's just decoration and a place to show the Logitech logo. I'm so disappointed to not have the "back" button any longer. I was so spoiled for years. I needed a new mouse and this one wasn't too expensive, so I'll keep it. Not altogether pleased with it though -- thus the "4" star rating.
Solid Mouse.......2007-02-27
I've had thise mouse for over a year and it still works perfectly. I've used it without problems on both my PC and my Mac. The thing I don't like about it is that when you scroll, it makes a really loud clicking noise. If anybody is in the same as you they will get annoyed; I know it bothers ME when I listen to other people using my mouse. If you never scroll this is the perfect basic mouse; I've never had any problems, but if you are going to be scrolling around other people then look for a quieter one.
The Perfect Corded Mouse.......2007-02-23
This mouse gets the job done without a lot of bells and whistles. The price was unbeatable. I know b/c I tried. The design is sleek and the performance is great. It comes with a PS/2 adaptor just in case its needed. The USB connector is a simple plug and play feature, resulting in a fast response.
