Read the fine print, bad seller.......2006-07-24

This is not a good seller, although this burner is quite good. In our case, here are the pro and con of this item and our transaction... Also, I got an email in October 2006 from some folks on eBay banding together to file a class-action suit against this seller (in Jew Jersey), just FYI.

Pro:
-Drive itself is fast and a name brand with good quality
-Good price
-Quick delivery
-Hardware itself is compatible with Mac

Con:
-Had to go to the internet to download unsupported 3rd party software from a Dutch guy to make it work... plus two hours of my time and lots of trial and error
-Not same as the picture... put into cheap enclosure without warning... footprint much larger
-Emails get automated responses which aren't helpful... getting a real email from a person was hard to do
-Seller is big on eBay, too busy to deal with us. In the month we bought from this guy, he got like ~20 other negative feedbacks with similar complaints as ours
-If you look on the internet, I found two sites dedicated to how much they hate this seller. I'd list the names, but they were quite vulgar.
-It appears to us that claims made that unit is "factory sealed" were only technically true... factory sealed = "Narro-factory sealed" and not factory sealed by the original manufacturer.

In my opinion the bottom line is: a very good product for the computer savvy-user who won't have any problems and doesn't mind minor variations in unit configuration.

I suggest that if your computer did not come with a DVD Burner already built-in to your hard-drive, that you should get this External DVD-Burner for your computer. It is Slim, Sleek, & Works Extrmely Good. It works very quickly & efficiently at 16X Speed (which is the fastest DVD Burning speed on the market)And if you have Windows XP this is your best bet. Simply because you do not even need to install any drives for it, XP automatically recognizes this specific NEC DVD Drive for your computer. So there is nothing you need install at all to begin using it if you have Widows XP and other pc's too as well. It fits nicely right on top of your hard drive. The end of gouging on XBox 360 arcade sticks.......2007-07-27

Hori is releasing a WIRELESS Virtua Fighter 5 arcade stick on August 8th, 2007 for 59.99. Why be gouged when you can get the same stick without the "artwork" for much, much cheaper. There is no reason to pay the $249 these scalpers are asking so DON'T DO IT!

I bought this stick primarily so I can have an arcade stick for my 360. Ironically, even though I have DoA4, I haven't touched the game in over a month ever since I bought it since Senko no Ronde occupies most of my time on the system. For that game, the stick gets the job done, as I've never had any problems controlling my character and blasting away at my opponents with it except when I need to do 360 degree rotations as I seem to not put enough force in a particular direction to register that the stick was pressed there. Then again, the stick was built with DoA4 in mind.

Decent stick.......2006-08-16

The DOA4 stick is a solid stick, but it's not exceptional. Certainly not worth $120+ when you can import it brand new from other online sources for less than $110, shipping included. If you've got $170+ to waste on a stick, you'd be better off looking up a custom stick maker. Better quality components, and you don't get stuck with a ugly picture of Kokoro and her Gerber Baby lookin' head.

Must have for DOA4.......2006-01-02

So I picked up the stick after having DOA for a couple of days, and right away I could tell a huge difference in my game play. The regular controllers, while great for the rest of the 360 games, isn't very effiecient for DOA. I would constintly hit either the start button or the xbox control button while trying to play.

The Arcade Stick solves the start/control button problem as they are located on the edge of the pad, well away from the play buttons. It has a good feel to it, and it makes pulling the different combos off a bit easier.

The only cons I have so far is that there is not a wireless control available (as the other reviewer stated) and that because there is only one control stick, it will not be useful for as many games aw you might like. certainly not games where you need camera control, or the majority of your shooters with aiming and such.

Overall its a good purchase, especially if you are going to be playing DOA with any high frequency(I have almost 20 hours played as of the 3rd day of release). Hopefully future games will be compatable with this stick as well.

4 stars for lack of wireless and diversity.

...only it were wireless. Honestly, the Xbox 360 has spoiled me to wireless controllers. Other than that, this stick is rock solid. Hori makes quality arcade sticks, and for only $60, it's quite a steal!

Update-defective mother board.......2006-12-05

Update-mother board was defective. Not certain if it was damaged by me or when. Motherboard was replaced by HP out of warranty for $375. This was for a guaranted fix so was well worth the money. Found others places that gacve lower estimates, but did not guarantee that that would be maximum cost. Laptop is working great now and would give this item 4 stars.

Everything was ok (though like the prvious review, the laptop runs very hot) till the laptop was a year old. As soon as the warranty was over the laptop starting having issues. For about 3 months it would shut down on its own. Then it srted refusing to boot up on occasion. Finally it refused to do anything. The power light comes on, but nothing happens.

Prior to this I have bought HP for years. My most recent HP desltop also has issues. After almost 15 years of buying HP products. My two most recent experiences tells me to switch.

AVOID at all cost.

What happens after 6 months.......2006-05-31

I got this notebook last fall and was quite happy with it - for a reasonable price the configuration you get is much more better than the competitive laptops. I was thinking that this is a good deal that cannot be true - and I was right.

After half a year, now I clearly see the many SERIOUS disadvantages which are caused by LOWER QUALITY:

- it gets HOT - if you plan to work with a laptop on your lap (what of course is quite often), after a while it becames REALLY HOT and impossible to work with. You MUST put it away from your legs because you cannot stand the heat. And this happens EVERY TIME! Right now as well, you would never believe how bad it makes you feel - almost impossible to work with!

- LOW BATTERY LIFETIME - when the laptop was new, I got about 2-2.5 hours of lifetime. Now it stays for 1 hour!!! After a clean installation of OS, it is still 1 hour. Unbelievable when I consider that my friend with old ASUS laptop with INTEL mobile processor gets 3 hours at least. I am quite sorry but I have to admit that AMD really cannot do the same job in processors for notebooks. All marketing talks about TURION as the new "mobile" 64-bit processor of AMD that offers advantages for notebook users were just TRASH. Now I feel so ashamed because I am the only one that must recharge after one hour of working when working at school group projects.

- DVD ROM PROBLEMS - I have so much trouble reading DVD movies (even original new dvd movie sometime cannot be read and DVD stops playing) and writing DVD disks (errors and ruined blank medium), there is apparenty something wrong with this line of DVD-ROMs in the notebook because when looking for help on the Internet, I found that I am not the only one with those trouble! Plus, the new drivers that could maybe solve this problems were never made (TSSTCorp TS-L532R)- there is NO SUPPORT. And double layer writing? Don't even think it could work!!!!

- the plastic cover of the screen is cracked on two spots (right next to hinges). First I thought that I dropped the notebook somewhere and I don't remember, but the cracks look really specifically to be done from material stress - which does not come from falling on the ground or bad manipulation but solely from regularly opening the laptop!!! The material is just cheap and not designed to last for a long time.

If I were to choose now, I would prefer to pay a bit more or to pay the same price for worse configuratuion - because the real truth is that the quality of Livestrong is not really great. The worst thing is AMD TURION PROCESSOR - absolute disaster to choose for your laptop! I have always preffered AMD over INTEL but now I see that the quality gap is still very very considerable.

Good Shredder........2001-10-04

This is an excellent office shredder for hundreds of sheet a day. Mine gets fairly regular use and I have had no trouble with it. The only frustration is that the cleaning crew doesn't seem to be able to get the hang of mounting it properly in the included basket. I usually have to remount it correctly after they have emptied the basket. I have recommended it to my boss.

Machine shuts down after a couple of minutes.......2001-03-12

I was very dissatisfied with this product. I can understand that a shredder would shut down if it overheats BUT this machine shuts down after 2 or 3 minutes. Then you wait fifteen or twenty minutes and can use it for another 2 or 3 minutes before it shuts down again. VERY AGRAVATING and it can take you days to shred any amount of papers.
