This computer turned out to be a big headache. I have had it for six months and the hard drive has crashed twice. I continue to have problems. HP customer support is great the first time you call but after that they are unwilling to help. I can honestly say I will never buy a HP computer again.

Just picked this up from my local store. Refurbished price: $399! Can't believe that I've spent the last 7 years with a 850mhz HP. This is a huge difference. Great performance, but as the other owner posted, you can always add more memory for even better speed.

HP and Vista dont play well together!.......2007-05-14

I am sure the components of this HP computer are ok. However, overshadowing this possible capability is the fact that VISTA is not ready for primetime! Multiple hassles from HP internet sign up boxes that NEVER GO AWAY, to invalid Microsoft Vista key registration nightmares, to intolerable and ever apologetic customer support from overseas make this experience NOT WORTH IT. I am very capable with tech, having wired my house and created a network with a 16 hub switch and network printer with 8 computers, BUT I HAD TO RELY ON HP paid support 'SMART FRIEND' @ $69 for 45 minutes (which was not enough) to get this newest addition onto the Network ( it still does not see the printer, which is HP as well, and i refused to "recharge" my minutes for another $69). I gave this computer to my five year old instead of searching for drivers for the rest of my life!! I am shopping for a used XP machine before they disappear!!

Great for Gaming.......2007-05-13

I would have to say I love this product. It has windows vista, which comes with a whole bunch of extra stuff, of which most of it can be put to use. It's also an amazing gaming comp. With set affinity, you can effectively play a game on one processor, with everything else on the other.

Vista premium is the worst.......2007-05-09

I've owned several computers through the years and the new Vista Home Premium is the worst I've had to deal with. Many programs are non compatible and as for the HP support it's very confusing to navigate where as XP and prior were very simple. Also the so called HP support you can call will not help you unless the product you're having problems with installing is also a Hewllet Packard product otherwise the so called free support will cost you money. A friend just got a Dell computer and he's content with it. I used to love HP products but now it seems they don't care to help their customers anymore and unless you know computers like an expert you'll need help with this one.

I just flat out needed to upgrade my PC because of the system requirements needed to run some of the newer software for digital photos and scrapbooking and games. I am so pleased with the performance and the small footprint of this PC, I would recommend it as a good buy for your $.

A winner in almost all respects........2007-04-18

I bought this computer primarily in order to replace my DVD player. It's small enough to fit in the media cabinet, and having a computer right there, via wireless keyboard and mouse, is absolutely wonderful. It's already set up for surround sound, and hooking up a 42" LCD was very straight forward.

For me the biggest fault is the lack of a Printer port. But if I understand correctly, one can simply get one of the readily available USB to LPT converter cables on the market today.

The graphics are astounding, and although I thought that using the Vista operating system would be quite cumbersome at first, everything on the screen is actually quite practical and natural once you get the hang of it. And this comes from someone who just upgraded from Windows 98.

Vistas is set up as a default to be connected to the Internet. So if you don't plan on using it with the Internet, like me, there are many annoying screens that will keep on popping up until you figure out how to deactivate them.

Besides that, except for maybe a somewhat extended hesitation here or there by the system, it's been smooth sailing. Keep in mind though, that I don't come anywhere near to using the full potential of this computer.

Great machine for its target audience.......2007-04-08

I bought this machine for my mom, of grandmother age, and it is perfect for that purpose. I didnt buy it expecting it to be upgradeable, nor does my mom need to run the latest of games, or the largest of monitors. What I was looking for was a compact machine that would fit in her office without taking it over and this box fits the bill. With media slots and a USB adapter on the front panel it satisfied my/her needs. It also seems well built and is pretty attractive as 'puters go.

Obsolete right out of box!.......2007-04-08

I owned this PC for four whole days before I returned it. It can not be upgraded. (Except for memory) It might work well as a seldom used second PC or as something used for mainly email or word processing. The video chip in the motherboard is incapable of supporting DirectX 9. DirectX 9 is required for playing such games as The Sims 2. If you never ever want to play a game outside of the ones that come with the Vista OS go ahead and get this. It might be wonderful for you. Vista gives this system a 3.9 out of 10 due to graphics for user experience though so... you be the judge!

Great product for those looking for a small nimble machine.......2007-03-26

This is a great for those looking with a machine that they can easily throw on their existing wireless network without hassles. That was a major selling point for me... small + pre-installed wireless means it can go anywhere. The first thing you should do however is update the nVidia drivers from the nVidia website, especially if you have a widescreen lcs. It will resolve the issue of not getting 1440x990. Vista is great, ram is perhaps a bit light, but I havent had any problems yet. Loving this machine and it's compact powerful package.

Blazing Fast!!! This is certainly one of the best architectures that AMD has ever had. I think it's better than the Conroe because Conroe comes with a serious bug that could cause data corruption, for those who read the data sheets and white papers. The low power is excellent, 65W will definitely cut the cost of electricity. Cool and Quiet helps further by running the cpu at only 1Ghz for light loads. Speed automatically shoots up if you load a demanding game or application so you get the best of both worlds.
