The advancements in technology never cease to amaze me. They continue to get smaller and smaller even when you didn't think it was possible. Such is the case for the Panasonic SD Memory card as well. Not only is it small, but it has a large capacity for adapting to a variety of digital content types. This SD Memory Card can write data at a rate of 10 MB per second! I mainly use my SD Memory card to save music from my MP3 player. I normally get about 5 1/2 hours out of the card. I highly recommend this to anyone who uses audio, video, communications and information devices and appliances. It is the wave of the future!

great quality prints, but..........2002-05-06

it tends to jam. a lot. a whole lot. and it doesn't re-print the page it screws up. it just keeps on going. now don't get me wrong, the quality when it prints is superb, but i'm too impatient for this machine. the copier aspect is great. and that part doesn't jam, but the print part does. scan does work great and is easy to manipulate. there is a way to stop this machine from jamming so much. i wrote lexmark and they sent me step by step instructions, but they include taking the machine apart. if you have the time and patience for the jams, and love quality prints and scans and copies, this is by far the machine for you. otherwise, go with the x83. i've heard that it doesn't jam as much.

Impressive Multifunction Machine.......2002-02-19

I have owned a Lexmark Z82 for over a year now, and have had successful, quality prints every time. The Z82 is quite satisfactory in both text and color photo prints (with photo paper). Its integral flatbed scanner produces very high-resolution digital images and the bundled scanning software (although a bit on the slow side when running on a PII 333Mhz) has quite a few image editing and control features. The Lexmark software is easy to set up (I use Win2K), and the USB connectivity allows for a speedy and reliable data link. Compared to some of the other inkjet printers I've used, the Z82 is a little noisy, but it is also faster than many others. In addition, this machine has an incredibly convenient scanner to printer photocopy feature. Without turning on a PC, one can copy magazine articles, receipts, forms...you name it...in both color mode and black & white mode. Full sizing, contrast, and resolution support is built in. For my typical home-user printing, the ink cartridges last considerably longer than other printers I've used/owned. Overall, this machine is great in terms of reliability and usability for the price.

Beware XP users.......2001-11-16

I was very happy with the speed, ease, and quality of the b&w and color prints this machine was producing. Once the USB cable was installed, the initially sluggish scanner was whirring right along. So far, so good. Then I upgraded to the very fine and stable Windows XP. Lo and behold, my Lexmark Z82, purchased just months before from a premier imaging outfit, was one of the few multi-machines that wasn't compatible. The patch fix offered at the Lexmark site didn't work...so, I've offered this fine machine to my son (and his Windows ME cpu,) and I've ended up getting the very fine (and a bit more costly) HP PSC750.

If XP is not -- and will never be -- in your future, then give the X82 a try. Trouble is, I think you'll find Microsoft's new o/s irresistible. I don't know what Lexmark's product development and marketing teams were thinking.

Lexmark Z82 Multifunction - Not Bad!.......2001-05-15

The Lexmark Z82 is a printer, scanner, copier. It is a good looking product with a flat-bed scanner/copier and basically what is a Z52 printer. It has parallel and USB connections and was very easy to set up after taking it out of the box. Lexmark does a thorough job at initial set up of setting printer allignment. The Z82 prints very well - both black text and color. The color graphics are vibrant and realistic. I haven't tried a photo yet, but the Z52 is known to print beautiful photos on photo paper, so I expect the Z82 to do likewise. You'll need a photo cartridge, however, as it ships only with black and standard color. It also ships with a parallel port cable, so if you intend to use a USB connection, you'll need one. Copying functions are good also, if a little slow, as are scanner functions. Some of the software leaves a little to be desired - the 'Samsung Smarthru 2' - which sets-up e-mail and faxing capability from scanning - seems a bit tedious and unnecessary, especially if you're an experienced 'scanner.' The only minor problem I've encountered is that after copying, if you try to print or scan immediately, you'll get errors or smudged printing. Waiting a few moments or rebooting solves that problem. All-in-all, this is a good value for an excellent color inkjet (its really a Z52) with added copy and scan functions for an additional $60. Worth it!
