I had no trouble with this cd burner. It has been a great way to have a portable burning solution that is fast!

I bought a QPS back in April, I had configuration issues right away.
I followed the tech support format and emailed them. Giving them benefit of possibly being busy or email issues I emailed four times over four weeks from seperate servers. They do not respond through support.
Now the hardware failed, I repeated the email attempts with no response and have phone support three times in two weeks to give up in Cue after 45 minutes. No 1-800 number.
Now I have a very high phone Bill coming and a useless QPS device that I will eat also.
Please don't allow companies like this to thrive, which they all too commonly do in todays market.
Buy elsewhere.

Trouble Free and Fast.......2002-10-07

First the set-up: It's easy plug and play. If you have a USB connector you're set to go. This comes with "Toast" software which in my opinion is the best for burning CD's and is widely used. Second: This burns CD's FAST! I've been buying blank cd's in the 100 packs because I'm burning music so much. And Third: this CD burner is very stylish. Personally, since computers are such a prominent part of the household or home office, it's nice to have hardware that is design conscious. A+ this is the burner I recommend to all my friends.

Not compatible with Mac OS X!.......2002-04-04

Not until after I opened the packaging and attempt to install the software did I discover that this drive is incompatible with Mac OS X. I e-mailed tech support and received a single line response: "We don't support Mac OS X". And then I installed it in OS 9 and found that it *still* didn't work properly with both Disc Burner and Toast. I stuck to just using Toast, and then a week later the drive stopped ejecting CDs. I gave up and returned the unit.

I bought this same item used from Ebay about three weeks ago and have been using it no prob whatsoever with both my iMac and iBook. I've been burning CDs from iTunes and writing data to CD with it and there is no install to do. It was plug and play perfectly. (Once, I had to do a restart to get it to read but I'd been messing with iTunes preferences so it could have been that too). I can burn a music CD in five minutes and haven't had any problems at all.

If you have a Mac, this item is a no brainer to use.

Why does Amazon sell this?.......2002-10-17

I bought this burner two Months ago and had problems right away with
Roxio and EZ CD Deluxe recognizing the drive. After three unanswered
emails to support I bought Nero.
Now The eject button went soft rendering it unusable. Three emails to support over three weeks went unanswered again, so I've called yesterday and today. After being in the wait cue for support for 45 minutes both days it's getting too expensive to continue. I've had problems with other products but never to this extent, QPS is a small garage company according to my research and you will be stuck with a loss of money.

Excellent drive.......2002-10-11

This drive has worked very well for me. It writes at true 32x and installation was quick and painless. So far I've had no buffer under-runs and no bad discs. Copying files is quick and the drive has replaced my original CD-ROM for running and installing applications. It worked perfectly out of the box, I burn with the included nero burningROM software, which is very easy to use.

i recently bought this item to run with my imac computer. there is no customer support and it doesn't work out of the box! it took several calls (toll calls) to their software vender, charis, to learn of a simple extention conflict that they failed to add to the instructions. i have just given up waiting to talk to qps technical service after being on hold for over 30 minutes.(another toll call)this product does not work with itunes at all though it is said to. this product does not work with toast, though it should. in short, unless you enjoy frustration and wasting both time and money avoid this product. i wish i had!

Configuration... doesn't work.......2003-10-10

Trying to plug it into a Dell system (laptop) with Windows 2000 and USB 1. (not 2)...

I can *read* files from the drive, but using the included software to try to format a disk results in a disc that the software says is formated (after 25 minutes of formating!) but doesn't work.

So it is worthless. I am forced to chose between dealing with tech support (can't find this in the FAQ or anywhere else) or returning it to the store... and getting an Iomega, which is what I'll do.

This product is great, but the customer service [stinks]!!! The CD-RW drive works great its very fast and super portable. I would reconmend it to people that want a fast drive but don't want to spend alot of money.

Shameful technical support.......2002-06-04

It works fast, but has given me plenty of problems when connected to a USB2 adapter. Worse yet, I've spent over an hour waiting for technical support staff without them ever picking up (and it's not a toll free number). When I have gotten through, the advice has not been consistently correct. All in all, I've spent four hours in two months working through technical problems, and it is currently on the fritz.

Good value........2004-06-08

For the price you pay this is a decent fishfinder. However, even with the updated software the performance of the 240 blue has been disappointing. As long as you do not plan to fish any water deeper than 500 feet, it works well. After 500 feet you lose the reading and you then must circle back into shallower water to regain the signal. Unfortunately, you generally have to go all the way back to about 300 feet of water to actually do this. In shallow water it works well. Just keep in mind that the actual max depth is 500, not 1500, feet when buying.

Garmin 240.......2001-05-12

The Garmin 240 is an excellent value. It is your best bet for under 300.00. It is extremely easy to install, only a one cable hook up. The High Resolution display is top of the line. The display of the thermocline is great when it works. The transducer has given me problems. But overall it is an awesome value.
