Not bad for a little kitchen TV.......2007-06-01

The TV works well, but since it isn't high definition and doesn't have a digital tuner, it won't be good for that long. I use it as a little TV that moves around, sometimes in the kitchen, sometimes in my office, etc.

Not a bad deal, but you need to know going in that it won't be very useful after 2009.

Samsung's 14-inch DynaFlat TX-P1430 is a full-featured direct-view CRT TV in a package small enough to put just about anywhere. The DynaFlat antidistortion, antiglare dark-tint picture tube makes watching your favorite program more enjoyable with improved colors and picture contrast and minimized reflections. The TX-P1430's high-contrast tube has a 4:3 aspect ratio, great for viewing analog broadcast TV and pan-and-scan-formatted video at a resolution of 480i (interlaced). Four video presets optimize the picture for the type of program being watched with user-adjustable brightness, contrast, sharpness, color, and tint. Plus, screen-filling picture modes let you fit the image to your screen.

A digital comb filter virtually eliminates dot crawl or cross-color interference--producing a superior picture. The Invar shadow mask removes picture discoloration (doming) caused by heat and allows the tube to operate at a higher voltage, producing brighter whites, higher contrast, and purer colors. Color temperature controls allow you to adjust white balance. The "Warm" setting reduces the color temperature and delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room. "Normal" and "Cool" provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased.

The TX-P1430's speaker design uses side-mounted, front-firing speakers to deliver the most stereo sound reproduction available from a television's internal speaker system. Aside from the 2.5-watt-per-channel stereo speaker system, the set has MTS for receiving stereo sound and SAP for receiving a second audio track in another language. And the improved Turbo Sound loudness control boosts high and low audio frequencies, while sound enhancement modes create more realistic audio environments for movies, music, and speech.

A set of side composite inputs present a cleaner-looking front cabinet and makes hooking up a game console or camcorder a snap. Rear composite inputs and a DVD component input make connecting your audio/visual equipment easy. Component video inputs split the video signal into its base components--Y (the black and white part of the picture), Pr (red minus Y), and Pb (blue minus Y). The signal remains pure and unaffected by the TV's comb filter or NTSC decoder. The result is higher resolution and improved color purity.

Many convenience features have been incorporated into the TX-P1430's design. I absolutely love this TV. I've had it for exactly 2 years. I bought it for my dorm room. It's the perfect size, not too big not too small. Plus, the flat screen helps with the no glare thing. Now moving into an apartment and hope to upgrade to a bigger screen, but this is good. Sound & picture quality is quite good, especially for the price!

Pros - Flat screen is great. Lots of advanced features in screen options, sound settings. Good price for a small TV. I trust Samsung based on other purchases. Used it to replace an old 20", but the sharper picture made this a great choice.
Cons - Actual sound performance is not as good as a TV with side-mounted speakers should produce. Dialogue can be hard to discern. I use the screen with a separate surround sound system when watching DVDs, so it doesn't end up being much of a problem.
Verdict - For this size screen, I would buy this unit again.

I love this TV! This is my 3rd Samsung, mainly for one key feature, what they call Surf, which returns to a particular channel after a specified period- great for channel-surfing during a commercial. I really wish my other TVs had this feature.

I got this Television as a second placer for a basement workout area. Well, it is great. The sound quality is excellent. The color with my attachment devices are great. This is a SOLID tv for the money.

I bought the Samsung TV online from amazoone.com, 14 " flat, it works great, the remote control has great features, easy to use.

the shipping in fact took only 5 days, and was delivered w/o problems. i only noticed a smalld ent, probably from shipping, to the tv frame.

great to go with the tv is the samsung dvd for less then 60 dollars. great combination guys.
i know good quality, when i see it. buy the combo w/o hesitattion, i did, and it is comapct, sheap and excellent quality.

I purchased this for my children's play room to be utilized for video games and watching movies. I'd read that smaller screens are better for children's eyes when playing video games. I was worried the 14" would appear to small but it is just perfect. I compared it to the larger screens in the store and this one had a much sharper picture as it wasn't distorted in the least due to it's perfect size. Even the 16" version of this TV wasn't as sharp as this one. It's perfect if it's a small room like we have - it's probably too small for a bigger room for just regular TV viewing. It's very aesthetically appealing with a very contemporary look. We are very happy with our purchase and would highly recommend it to others as well. We have a much larger TV in another room and it's the 14" Samsung that they always want to watch!

I wanted to buy a TV for my new RCA home-theater system, and I choose this one because of sub-$200 price bracket, flat-screen picture tube (boy, it looks so much cooler than traditional curved screen) and the trusted Samsung brand name. I do not regret for a moment that I did not go for more pricier Sony range. I have compared the picture of Sony WEGA and this TV, this Samsung gem performs equally good as WEGA. Add to that a great looking silver-finished design, awsome stereo sound, intuitive remote and menu control, top-notch technology like Velocity-Scan Modulation and Digital comb filter - and you get one of the best 20" TV available in the market, for a VERY reasonable price.
