Just what I was hoping for.......2007-08-24
I'm impressed with this little thing. The case is well-made and has a very solid feel. The Nano fits perfectly into the skin and into the MiniBlaster. I didn't have difficulties with the fit like others mentioned. Getting the Nano out takes some pushing, but that's the way it should be. You don't want it falling out on it's own and hitting the pavement. All the Nano controls are accessible. The front, circular control (volume/scroll) works fine through a silicon skin and is very protected.
The reason we buy this thing is for sound and size. Size and weight are impressively minimal. You won't beat that anywhere. As for sound, it's not a home entertainment center or a Bose IPod system - it's a tiny little device that offers maximum portability. If you can bring your Bose system along with you, then do it. If you need something small and more portable, then read on.
The sound has a distinct clarity. Mids to highs are crisp and well separated. What you loose is bass. It's attenuated, but not dull or muddy. I wasn't expecting strong bass with a frequency response of 450Hz to 20KHz. It's not built for it and shouldn't be expected.
It's made, as others have said, for you and a couple of friends in an environment without too much ambient noise. If you are looking for a system that you can play at a beech party with a big group of friends, keep looking, because this isn't it. Too many voices chatting away will drown this little thing out.
In a reasonably quiet room or out on the trail, you get enough volume to really enjoy the music. It's loud enough to hear the detail in the sound. It even gets too loud for conversations and has to be turned down. Don't get me wrong, the neighbors won't be calling or stomping on the floor. It has what it needs to fill the niche that it's designed for.
I personally like the sound with the EQ set to "Small Speakers" - seems like a good balance for Classic Rock which I tend to listen to the most.
If you want a small, light and very portable speaker system to free you from headphones and make portable music a social experience between friends again, then you are onto something.
Enjoy!
Great for use while traveling.......2007-08-11
I wanted to be able to listen to podcasts and my own music while commuting and so first purchased (for $80) an FM converter that plugged into the lighter and my iPod and then matched an unused frequency to play what was on the iPod. The sound wasn't great and it changed depending on where I was driving. I spent a lot of time trying to find the right static frequency and match it with the device. In the short time that I tried it out I had to switch frequencies twice.
So, I looked for a speaker. I decided that it wouldn't be a disaster to buy something at this price to try even if it didn't work great. It was what I was looking for! I can use it in the car and also other places where I want to play what is on my ipod so that others can hear. It is not great sound quality, but it is much better than what I was getting with the FM converter and much easier. I can either use batteries or the AC adaptor (I already have a device that converts the cigarette lighter into AC power).
It is a great solution for what I was looking for.
Good Product.......2007-07-26
I recommend this product over similar products that are outrageously expensive. Powerful sound for it's size and easy to use. Great value.
Wow, under 15 bucks including shipping!.......2007-07-04
Don't expect too much bass out of -any- tiny speakers but as a way to turn your nano into a sort of 21st century "transistor radio" equivalent with stereo audio and a better sound quality, this little thing is superb. Talk radio podcasts are delivered very clearly and music can be enjoyed to an extent especially if you choose an appropriate EQ setting on your nano. Volume capability is decent, just don't expect to entertain an audience bigger than about two or three. Battery life is good for the 4x AAA batteries.
JLab Audio.......2007-06-08
The sound is good from the Miniblaster, but getting my Ipod in and out of it is a real chore!! It is very difficult to do. It not only is very hard to place in the miniblaster, but getting it out is even worse. I like the size of it as it doesn't take up a lot of room when I place it on the counter. Just difficult to use. It is also hard to adjust the volume with the "skin" on it.

Excellent Company.......2007-06-11
My 11 year old daughter saved her $$ and did some on line research and ended up buying these. She loved them for the size which allowed her to take them into bed, on the bus etc. The audio in my opinion was "OK", but she was very happy.
We had bought them along with their noise reducing ear buds which I use while traveling in planes. I can wear them x- country very comfortably
Unfortunately we had technical problems and contacted JBL. I happened to email them on a Sunday afternoon and in about 15 minutes a real person (Josh) responded. A real person.... on a Sunday!!
He resolved the issue- which ultimately required a warranty replacement.
I cannot say enough good things about this company and Josh. I woudl buy their products again without hesitation
What a disappointment........2007-05-26
On my first foray into looking for the perfect mini speaker for my Ipod, I bought the Aiptek Mist for Nano (not realizing it only works with Gen 2 Nano)---boy, was it a cute little thing. Disappointed they don't make that product for Gen 1 Nanos, I searched Amazon for the perfect replacement mini speaker that would work with my Nano Gen 1. The JLab Miniblaster had 4 stars. Folks, speak up, because I cannot be the only one who was shocked by the low quality of this product!!
*When I first plugged it in, you couldn't hear anything because of interference from my TV remote!
*When I finally heard sound it was fuzzy at best and never got much better
*The volume level is only a smidgen better than what I can hear through my earbuds when they are out of my ears!
I read and re-read the direction and am convinced I did everything properly. I even tried it with battery power only, in the house, out of the house. No luck. This is a lousy product and I am giving it one star. This is being shipped back today.

Amazon.com Product Description
Experience enhanced sound from Bose's most affordable, next-generation Acoustimass stereo speakers. The Acoustimass 3 system delivers bass that's the deepest and fullest yet. Two single-cube speakers--smaller than ever before--are elegantly designed to fit virtually any decor. And the module easily hides away behind furniture or off in a corner, so all the lifelike sound seems to flow from the tiny cubes.
When you hear the Acoustimass 5 Series III speakers, you'll think you're listening to much larger speakers. Yet the spacious sound actually comes from two tiny cube speaker arrays and a hideaway Acoustimass bass module. The improved cube speakers offer enhanced performance, contemporary styling, and a smaller size than the Series II. And the improved module fills a room with even deeper, fuller bass. These Virtually Invisible speakers are the definitive answer to the question of how to combine spacious sound with space-saving design.
Though the Virtually Invisible speaker design may seem like a disappearing act, the performance is quite noticeable. Full, resonating bass and crystal-clear highs envelop a room in beautiful stereo sound. It's all the result of years of intense research and testing. The Acoustimass 5 speakers accomplish what no conventional speakers can claim: big, lifelike sound without big, bulky speakers. Now or in the future, Acoustimass stereo speakers can be turned into a home theater set by simply adding the compatible Bose VCS-10 center-channel speaker. For full five-speaker surround sound, add the VCS-30 center-surround speaker package.

Why does Bose induce so many contradictory opinions?.......2006-06-02
I am not an audiophyle, just a music lover. My main system consists of Proac 140 speakers, MF x 150 amp and XRay cd coupled with PSU and MF DAC. I have a Michell Giro turntable. Whats this to do with Bose? may you ask. Well just intended to say that I am used to a middle range audio equipment with pedigree. It hapens that I spend many hours in a private office home, crowded with shelves, books and papers, so that I have no space to position box speakers. Recently I decided to purchase a Bose kit. My amp is a old Pioneer A 400, and a Marantz CD 76 MkII is my source.
My previous speakers were a Solid Ovale set built by B&W. It produced a boxy sound without live or body. Then the Bose kitt was seted up. WOW...WOW. Now my office is full of a rich and involving sound, realistic and detailed. I canýt undestand why are people saying there is no bass.... Well I have ears, and years of music listening experience. The results are amaizing. The most impressive is that I have the sensation of presence of musicians performing in the room. Probably stereo image is a bit confusing as is the sound stage in the classical sense of stereo speakers. However is what we got when listening music live. Can someone in a concert hall define the exact posittion of musicians while closing the eyes????. This one is a great speaker set. I canýt talk about buid qualities or engineering. Honestly I do not care if this set is based on cheap componets as some argue, since I am much more concerned about its sound, and it sounds lovely
Look at each negative reply--Marketing blah blah.......2006-05-22
Don't be fooled by the naysayers on the Bose speaker systems, especially the Acoustimass satellite systems. These speakers will blow you away for their size. I bought a Lifestyle system when they first came out back in 1994. I was amazed, and everyone who has never heard a LS system from Bose, is completely blown away by the sound from such a small package. The LS systems are overpriced UNLESS you need and want all their features (and then probably still given you could build your own theather system cheaper with "different" sound, but not necessarily better sound). You're paying for the SMALLNESS, not necessarily the BEST equipment.
These speakers we are talking about for this review my friend purchased after I got my lifestyle system back in 1994. She hooked them to an Okyio (sp) with about 100WTS per channel. Completely blew everyone out of the house, which was about 2000 square foot two story.
If you don't have bass, then I would advised investing in a amplifier with more than 10 WTS per channel. If you want to test the naysayers, just pick a set up and plug them in. If you don't like them, take them back. You will see that 99% of the people who bad mouth Bose have more to say about "Bose marketing, you suck" blah blah than the speakers themselves. Those who say they bought a 35 dollar set of speakers that blew these away are so obviously writing from simply hating Bose it's pathetic. If anyone can show me a set of 35.00 speakers that sound better to any random majority of people than these speakers, I'll send you a 1,000,000 check. But whoever takes me up on this, the reverse is true. You owe me 1 million if your random test fails you--so don't bother me.
Bose prides itself on spartan, small systems with VERY good sound, especially when you look at the size. And the bass in any Bose speaker system will not sound like your local low rider with a 20" bazooka sub in the trunk playing "Taste the Bass" CDs. In other words, you never get "boomie" loose sounding base from a Bose. They are very tight sounding, and if the CD calls for a "sub" frequency, you will REALLY hear it and feel it. Bose isn't into cranking up the volume gains and playing with frequency responses to get unnatural boomie, booingie bass that distorts the original music into a overpowering (headache inducing) Shiitey, boomie, boing, boing, boing sound. The Bose bass feels like someone patting your chest very firmly--tight, thump, thump like, very fast base response. Try the The Prodigy with the song "Diesel Power" and tell me these speakers don't thump. Yeah, right.
this system blows (not in a good way).......2006-05-11
do not buy this system. for the money there are much better systems out there.
I bought this for my family room mainy for the small size of the cube speakers. The main problem with the system (which bose has corrected by the way) is that the "acoustimass" component (bose's fancy name for a subwoofer) is not active (or powered) which means the base is totally inadequate and is overun by the cubes which have no mid or bass ranges. The result is that you get a very "tinny" sound out of most applications including dvd's. I ended up getting a sony active subwoofer and it sounds much better.
In hindsight I would have bought a different brand than bose, but already had to much invested in bose to scrap the system completely, and the size of the cubes is nice. Still pissed that I spent that much money on a substandard system, but hey, got sucked into the bose marketing machine.
Bose Rules.......2005-12-19
I am sorry to see the negative reviews on this board. I have had Bose speakers for more than thirty years. My first set, a pair of 601's is still functioning in a friends house. My 901 series VI blow away any home theater systems I've heard. With the direct reflecting sound, there is no need for center channel, rear channel. You just get realism in the listening experience that is unmatched. I have two sets of Acoustimas AM-5's and I am totally satisfied. I've had one set since 1991 and that is a tribute to the quality and longevity of the product. I purchased a second set when I finished my basement and they are nothing short of awesome. When I entertain, I almost always get a compliment on the sound of the speakers. Other reviewers have commented on the lack of bass. I would just say that you really do have to pay attention to the placement of the subwoofer. Bose intends for the subwoofer to use the floor as a platform to send the bass throughout the room. Placing the subwoofer nearer to the corner of the room sometimes will increase the bass. I have both of my systems set up with the subwoofer in a corner firing out at a 45 degree angle and the rooms are totally filled with deep rich bass.
I have always preached the gospel of putting your money in a good set of speakers. While your other equipment is important, the speaker system will make or break the quality of your sound. But with any speaker system, you have to finesse the placement for optimal results.

Customer Reviews:
Very disappointed.......2007-04-26
I'm no Audiophile as it were but I know quality when I hear it. I purchased the Acoustimass 6 (gen IV) on my belief and word on the street that Bose is the best. I'm sad to say don't believe the hype. They are good but not $899 good. The Bass is lame and the treble on the center channel drowns out the rest of the action if anyone is talking in the foreground. I'm running a Pioneer vsx2016 which is an awesome product. Anyway I plan to stay within this price range but take my business elsewhere, any suggestions? They are going to go back next week.
I'm soooo glad I unloaded these on someone else.......2006-06-02
I ditched my AM6 speakers through eBay and bought some good speakers instead. Anyone who likes Bose must only have their clock radio as a point of reference. I was able to sucker some chump into paying $400 for my Bose AM6 speakers, which I turned around into a set of Athena .5 speakers and a 10" Velodyne sub. All running from the same Pioneer VSX-D711 AV receiver as the Bose. My new speakers set me back about $350, leaving money left over for speaker wire and stands.
So, why am I so harsh on the Bose AM6 speakers? Well, they do look nice, but... they use proprietary speaker wires with speacial plugs. So, you have to use their wiring which really reduces the options for running wiring for the back surrounds. The small size is nice, but having speaker wire hanging out in plain site pretty much sucks.
Speaking of sucking, let's adress the major shortcoming of almost ALL Bose products, they just don't sound good. My budget Athena .5 speakers have a 1" tweeter and a 4" driver. This combo does a pretty good job of covering down to around 80Hz where the sub fills in. Not completely flat, but really nice for the price and signficantly better than what the Bose AM6 can do with its single 2.5" driver per speaker. The Velodyne sub can hit 30Hz and really fill in the low end, while the bass module (I refuse to call that Bose thingy a sub) doesn't get any where near that. And, since all 5 speakers are cabled through the bass module, you're really stuck finding a good place to hide it in your room.
So, what does all this mean? When watching a Dolby Digital or DTS movie, I can now actually notice the low frequency effects, and even feel them. with the Bose, you get muddled farting from the bass module (and, I suspect the cross over on the bass module is set pretty high in an attempt to compensate for the Bose Cubes' misserable low to mid range response, so you know where the sound is coming from, sort of distracting).
The overall sound stage is now much better with the new speakers, too. The Bose cubes were too easily localized, and didn't fill in the room very well. But... most important: when watching a movie, we can now actually hear the dialog! With the Bose AM6, it seemed like the music sound track and other ambiant sounds were constantly overwhelming the dialog. Turns out, this was due to the fact that crappy little cube speakers aren't able to effectively produce sound in that low to mid frequency range, where most dialog lives. Take a look at all the traditional center channel speakers everyone else sells, they usually feature a single tweeter and two or more mid-range drivers of decent size (4" to 6" depending on cost). Now, compare that to the single 2.5" driver found in the Bose cube "center channel". Which one do you think will do a better job of reproducing the full frequency of sound needed to enjoy a movie?
Sorry to ramble a bit, but I was a chump when I fell for the Bose marketing hype/BS. Now that I've learned that I can get significantly better sound for 1/2 the cost (and I'm sure there are scores of other options), I'd hate to see someone else get suckered in by the hype. So, go back to Amazon's speaker section and try something else; Athena is a great brand;) and I'm sure there are lots of other choices...
sounds like a theatre.......2006-02-03
thanx for a great system...my living room now sounds like a full theatre...it's hard to believe so much sound comes out of speakers so small I got a great b-day present..thanx
Not worth the money or hype!.......2005-10-31
I heard this set at my Grandfather's friend's house. I think the fella spent like $750.00 on it from a local outlet mall. What a waste of well earned retirement money! He had a higher end Marantz receiver firing these puppies, and let me tell you the receiver was being shamefully wasted on these speakers. The lower end frequencies were o.k. and the highs were sufficient. What I felt was missing was the solid mids and voice presence. Don't get me wrong, music sounded good. But, trying to watch a movie was like riding in a car with huge subs and tweeters in the front door pillars. The lack of mid-bass was a huge downfall with these speakers.
I spent $200.00 less on a set of Dahlquist 5.1A and feel like they sound like $1000.00 speakers. They have an even frequency response all the way across. In my opinion they look a whole lot better mounted too. I'm running them with a Marantz SR6200 DTS receiver and they perform flawlessly. I would totally recommend anyone that's considering a BOOOSE system to reconsider and shop around. GET YOUR MONEY'S WORTH, DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!
The best entry level home theater system........2005-10-27
Use this system with a minimum of a 80 watt Onkyo receiver and digital output enabled DVD player (Sony is good enough). Be sure to use Monster cables or GE for interconnect. Cables do matter. Buy the speaker stands for the small speakers because it is very convinient. Sound is awesome and astounding. Drums sound like drums and some effects are really like a real theater sound.
If you have a lousy receiver or DVD player, do not blame Bose for the sound. Also, you need to have a nice large hall to keep this.
IF YOU DO NOT USE DIGITAL OUTPUT OF DVD PLAYER, IT WILL BE LOUSY.
I now feel, I should have brought the lifestyle system along with this system BECAUSE, when you buy all the necessary things for the home theater, if it is good, the price will be appox that of the lifestyle system of Bose.
And because lifestyle is from Bose itself, sound will be optimal. So, think how much it is going to cost together if you are going to buy everything together. Then make the decision.
Really, the receiver and DVD players separately are much heavier and bulkier than lifestyle.

Amazon.com Product Description
A versatile choice for both listening to music and appreciating the sonic splendor of big-budget blockbusters, the Bose 161 multipurpose speaker system offers topnotch sound in an elegant package. Unlike conventional speakers, which radiate sound in a single direction, these speakers use Bose's Articulated Array and Stereo Everywhere technologies to project sound throughout the entire room, so listeners in the corner can appreciate the same subtleties as those in the middle. In addition, the proprietary Twiddler drivers (two 2.5-inch drivers in each enclosure) make the speakers sound much larger than they actually are. The end result is a consistently impressive sound field that simulates the cinema experience. Meanwhile, the speakers' actual size--they measure 11 inches wide by 4.12 inches tall--belies their big sound, so you can store them easily in compact locations, such as small dorm rooms or crowded offices. They even come with mounting brackets for installing on a wall or ceiling. The speakers' sleek black housing also blends into practically any décor.
Additional features include magnetic shielding, which protects your TV from video interference, and automatic overdrive protection. The speakers are computer tested for quality and reliability and carry a five-year warranty from Bose.

Perfect for home theater!.......2007-09-08
If you have plenty of bass these speakers will work on either the front or rear channels. I have them on both the front and rear channels and have a 10" JBL powered sub and a Klipsch center channel and I am very happy listening to music or watching a movie or t.v. My room has a tile floor and is 17ft.X20ft. and the receiver is the 5.1 channel Yamaha HTR-5440 with only 65W RMS and there is plenty of volume (I only turn it up 1/4 of the way) and bass (sub volume is 3/4 of the way up).
Great surround speakers.......2007-07-02
I think it IS amusing to read the previous reviews. Of course you need a sub with these speakers. Bose states that these are for back and surround systems. I can agree with one bad review, the Bose center channel is not a very good speaker. That is why I have different speakers, Polk sub, JBL center, Acoustimass 5 as my front and the 161's as my back surround. The 161's are clear and crisp and great for movies and music. Play some George Benson and hear the "pluck" of his strings on these 161's !!!
Great for what they are.......2007-02-27
I think these are great speakers considering their size and they are a very good value for the price. I've been putting together a fairly complex sound system in a large house and used the 161's for a tight enclosure space that yet had to work in a much larger room than they were ever intended for. The result was that I've gotten a second pair. I wasn't expecting much in the way of low end performance yet these are decent and the rest of the range is impressive. My only issue is the mounting system is chintzy, and I found the speakers slipping down from their own weight. A trip to the hardware store was required which is no huge deal but then again, come on Bose, you cheaped out on the mounts. Just IMO for what it's worth.
Good For Center Channel as well!.......2007-01-27
My New Samsung DVD 5.1 system has TWO output wires for Center Channel...I just had to upgrade the Center Speaker because we couldnt hear the voices over my quality speakers...(Cerwin Vega/Bose and Yamaha)...I was having a hard time figuring out how to upgrade the Center channel since most of the Center speakers only have One Input...I started looking at high quality bookshelf/rear channel speakers...found these...listened to them at best buy and circuit city...and got them...laying them down on my TV stand where the Center goes they are thin enough to not impair TV viewing....Hooked them up and maxed out the center signal.....WOW!....So much better than the little speaker that came with my Samsung...TWO separate channels for Center pumping through these sounds great!...I can recommend them as very good for the Money...I feel Center channel speaker pricing is not realistic...from $50-$1500 dollars for one speaker?...that is insane............these are a great value and Upgrade.....I hope this helps
Excellent for Surround channel.......2006-07-20
These speakers are really intended for use as surround speakers. I recently upgraded my 5.1 receiver to an Onkyo 7.1 with 100 watts per channel. I've been using Klipsch speakers L/R and Center and Boston for the side surround in my existing set-up. My home theater room is not large, about 13 by 20. I thought it would be nice to add the two rear speakers to my existing surround set-up. I am a professional musician and a movie buff. Quality as well as versatility are both critical for my listening. My son (also a musician) already uses Bose 161s for his surround set-up and recommended them. I have not been disappointed. I tested them with some of my THX encoded DVDs and as rear channel speakers they fit in seamlessly.
I can't testify to the performance of these speakers as primary speakers. Some people have used them this way with apparent success, but Bose really did intend these as surround speakers and for those on a budget or dealing with limited space they are ideal for the intended purpose. As surround speakers I rate them 5 stars.

Great speakers for a small space........2006-11-11
I purchased this speaker system because I wanted something small and unobtrusive. It has more than met my expectations.
Great speakers........2006-02-24
I did a lot of research on speakers, I wanted something that didn't dominate the living room, and that would even look nice. These speakers are perfect. I bought the white ones, and bought the Crutchfield wall mounts for $25 each. I highly recommend these wall mounts. They look nice and you can partially aim the speakers.
These speakers are loud enough for parties and hip-hop music, and nice for movies on the dvd.
I was torn between the Bose AM3 and the AM5 speakers. I didn't want to pony up $200-300 more in the end, and I'm glad because I recently went to a Bose store and they played the AM3 and the AM5 speakers back to back in a comparative test. Both were very similar, and didn't warrant the price difference.
These speakers will not let you down. I paid $189 for the pair during a christmas sale on Amazon that were sold direct from Bose.com.
Bose - more than just a "name" product.......2004-01-30
We just bought the Bose AM-3 Series speakers to replace 16 year old KEF speakers. We needed the space the old ones took up, and decided since we didn't listen to the stereo as much anymore, we could sacrifice some performance quality for size.
What a wonderful surprise to find that after hooking them up we lost nothing in quality. In fact, because we could place the mini-speakers up high (off the floor and out of the way), we have much better sound separation.
We weren't sure whether to go with the 3-Series or the 5-Series, but the 3's are fine for our needs. We would definitely recommend these for anyone who has moved past the old "audiophile" phase and wants really good sound at an affordable price.

Customer Reviews:
The best sound you coould ever imagine.:-).......2007-09-12
I spent considerable time researching and visiting places I could hear what I wanted from a sound system. The BOSE Acoustamass 10 series IV Home Entertainment System was, by my understanding the best there is; but, I wondered whether that was hype and the publicity machine doing what it was supposed to do. I also purchased a Pioneer VSX-82TXS-S ELITE Receiver to compliment and complete my sound system. (The list price is $1200 but you can use this site and get it for $800)Well,I bit the bullet and made the decision to buy the BOSE Accoustamas: WOW, it surpassed all my expectations and any doubts I had about the hype were blown away. This system is fantastic in every way, easy to set up and add to the receiver. The quality of the reproduction is superb in all areas of sound reproduction from listening to a movie on THX to a song. You will not be disappointed in this product. It looks good, not intrusive and the price is worth every $.I would most certainly recommend that you also invest in a quality receiver to go with BOSE. Again buy this, you will not be disappointed. (A note: I wanted to put my rear speakers on a stand and I found the BOSE stand to be too short for my location, but, you can shop around and get a stand of the same quality which gives you a little more height).

Amazon.com Product Description
The Acoustimass 3 speaker system from Bose delivers surprisingly rich performance while practically disappearing into your décor. The system, the company's smallest and most affordable to date, produces lifelike sound from your stereo components (DVD player, CD player, VCR, DVR, MP3 player, etc.) and, when connected to your surround sound receiver, it's also an appropriate choice for use as a left/right rear-channel home theater array. The speakers' compact size makes them a great choice for smaller rooms.
Two single-cube speakers standing just 3 inches high are elegantly designed to blend with virtually any furnishings. Patented Acoustimass speaker technology delivers the ear-pleasing low tones of a bassoon or the deep, dramatic effects of movies. Best of all, you can easily stash the Acoustimass module behind furniture or in a corner, and the system's lifelike sound will appear to flow from the tiny cubes.
Hookup couldn't be simpler: route left/right speaker wires (supplied) from your integrated amplifier or surround receiver to the back of the Acoustimass module (essentially a passive subwoofer), then run two more lengths between the Acoustimass module's left/right speaker outputs to the 2 cube speakers. All three units use convenient clip-type speaker terminals.
When you hear the Acoustimass 3 Series IV system, you'll be surprised that such a huge sound can come from such small speakers. These Virtually Invisible speakers are the definitive answer to the question of how to combine spacious sound with space-saving design. It's all the result of Bose's years of intense research and testing.
The tiny cube speakers can be wall-mounted or displayed on speaker stands using the optional Bose UFS-20 universal floor stands, UTS-20 universal table stand, or UB-20 wall/ceiling bracket. Now or in the future, you can turn your Acoustimass stereo speakers into a home theater set by simply adding the compatible Bose VCS-10 center-channel speaker. For full 5-speaker surround sound, add the VCS-30 center/surround speaker package.
The system's four 20-foot lengths of speaker wire should accommodate most living rooms. For longer cable runs, however, Bose recommends using 2-conductor, 18-gauge wire (30 feet), 16-gauge wire (45 feet), or 14-gauge wire (70 feet), for a hookup that maintains a maximum frequency-response deviation of +/- 0.5 dB. (Cable thickness increases as gauge decreases.)
What's in the Box
Two cube speakers, 1 powered Acoustimass module, 4 lengths of speaker wire (20 feet each), 4 adhesive rubber feet, and a user's manual with warranty/registration information

Sounds Good.......2007-06-07
These speakers are made to replace bad TV speakers, but an amplifier is required. Wouild not recommend for the main movie watching for your home for the subwoofer is not separate from the two smaller speakers.
Amazing sound at an oustanding value!.......2007-03-29
I purchased the AM3's for my kitchen. I have the cubes hanging under my cabinets (using Vantage Point mounts) and the passive subwoofer on top of my cabinets, laying on its' side. I am using the Amphony 1520 5.8GHz digital wireless amplifier [...] since my wiring options are extremely limited.
The sound quality coming from these little miracles is nothing short of amazing. Acoustic songs sound live. It's like having a band in my kitchen at the touch of a button. The Acoustimass Module provides smooth lows to give full bodied sound. Placement of the Acoustimass Module is critical to achieve deep, low frequency results. The closer to a corner of a room you place the Module, the better bass response. Additionally, since my Module is placed on top of maple cabinets, I have it resting on a bathroom rug to absorb unwanted vibration.
I have never been disappointed by a Bose product and am a loyal customer. If you are looking to spend a couple hundred bucks on speakers, look no further. You will not find higher quality for this price.
great sound at a great price.......2007-01-10
Quality product with great sound; for two little speakers. Spread out sound well in a large room. I enjoy this product so much that I bought two.
The true joy comes from the cubes...not the subwoofer.......2007-01-01
I origianlly thought this was an excellent offer. Two rear Bose speakers with a sub woofer. The setup was simple and the sound from the cubes was unmistakable. What was lacking was coming from the subwoofer. This is not a true subwoofer since it's power is derived from the the two rear speakers. When you are trying to get enough bass you can hardly hear a rumble. This caused me to go out and spend a bit more on a good subwoofer. The cube speakers are well worth it and give more than average sound. I just wasn't happy with the complete package.
Great, robust little system.......2006-10-20
I am always amazing at the amount of flaming that Bose products seem to instigate on message boards. Clearly, people buy the stuff and so perhaps it is just that web noise.
I have had a set of AM-3s for 11 years. I originally bought them for a rehearsal area where space was tight and I wanted something I could put on the wall, but I got more than I bargained for. As you might guess, I am a musician.
I have been using these in my main parlor/music room area now for 6 years and I am always pleased. They produce a remarkably full sound that is clear and emotional, and they occupy virtually no space. Instruments and voices are rendered with admirable neutrality, and music of all types and time periods sounds just plain good. They can play at surprisingly high volumes without complaint connected to my 150 watt Pioneer receiver.
My only beefs: The single cubes are a bit directional at high frequencies, but not overly so (the bigger double-cube AM-5s solve that). Bass is full down to about 60hz and falls off sharply below that. However, I cannot think of another $200 set of speakers that is so musically satisfying overall. I recommended them to my friends who almost always turn their heads and say, "That sounds great. Where are the speakers?"
11 years and no problems. That speaks for itself. For $200 the AM-3 just can't be beat.
