For short money, this was easy and fast. Just plug it in and it works. Faster than my last one but I am no expert by any means. All I know is that it does what I want it to do.

You absolutely CAN use this floppy drive to boot your computer. The review saying otherwise must have been misinformed, or did not understand how to configure their BIOS settings properly.
I've used this drive to boot dozens of different systems with no issues.
Portable & Nice.......2004-02-04
I bought this drive along with a Compaq centrino notebook, it comes in black with a driver CD that you probably won't need if your OS is Windows XP (both Pro or HE).
Drive speed is faster than classic drives, and it's sleek design matched the centrino design of my notebook, however, the manufacturer released a titanium version of the same drive (SmartDisk FDUSB-TM2) which better matches Compaq, Toshiba and Sony centrino notebooks.

They don't bother telling you in the product description that this floppy drive can't be used to boot your computer system from this drive........Had to find out the hard way after scanning the files on the driver disk and users manual where it's noted in small print.
Great!.......2003-10-20
Works great. Part of the reason I got this was because it was so small. However, because it was so small there is no extra room between the disk and the drive. One of my disks got stuck in there because the disk label had peeled up slightly and got snagged in the drive. I was able to retrieve my disk with pliers. Admittedly, this is not a defect of the drive but something to take into consideration.

Great for archiving your old data!.......2006-07-10
I bought this to use with my powerbook, and was able to copy off data from all my old 3.5" floppy disks. Worked great, even with really old disks, and with some disks where heat had degraded the data, I was able to mount them and then use a repair program to get them repaired enough to get all the data of. I transferred about 70 disks worth of data, and was only unable to mount one of them- most likely because the disk was too damaged.
Totally worth the $30 I paid when I bought this originally.

I bought one and it erased content on my disks. DO NOT BUY THIS DRIVE.
Plug & Play on MacOS X.......2003-05-15
I have used it on my PowerMac G4 running Jaguar OS X. It takes about 1 full minute to mount a floppy once the disk is inserted in the drive. After that, file transfers seem pretty quick (for a floppy, that is) and it works great.
Classic Mac users (old-timers?) like me are used to a floppy drive that ejects the disc when it is dragged to the trash, but this one has no eject motor, so you'll need to "give it the finger" on the handy eject button to eject the disk.
It has a sleek look and is nicely compact. It feels quite rugged, so it should handle roadtrips well with my iBook.
OS X - Mounts w/o drivers, slow........2003-03-13
Well, it is no speed demon but gets the job done. I plugged it into my Powerbook G3 (OS 10.2.4) and it took a while to mount. That's pretty much what I was looking for, I hate floppies, but my mom needs it to bring her virrii..ehhrr...documents when she uses the labs at the college she attends to.
trouble with an iMac, OS8.6.......2003-02-08
This is not plug and play for an iMac, G3, running OS8.6. The main problem is that the documentation enclosed in the box and on the CD is misleading. It tells you to go to outdated web sites and download software that is probably on your machine anyway. It doesn't tell you to go to the SmartDisk website to download their latest driver. These drivers could have been included on their CD, but the CD is useless for Mac users. It took me two hours to solve the problem. My father, who is a novice user of this iMac, doesn't know what a driver is, and never would have been able to get this simple disk drive working. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of novice users of old iMacs who will have the same problem. So I give one star for their web site, which is well-organized, and one star for the hardware, which actually works after you spend hours downloading software.

I use this flash card with Nikon D70 digital SLR camara. Holds upto 140 photos at normal quality. Takes 2 or 3 seconds to download each picture into my computer.

The AV36DF74 has two-tuner PIP (picture-in-picture), meaning you can view pictures from two different channels simultaneously. With the EZ Surfing function, you can scroll through channels via PIP window while onscreen text informs you of what is on that channel. The three-line digital comb filter analyzes multiple lines of picture information to minimize edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.
This set also features an Invar shadow mask (an alloy material used to attain better focus and brightness consistency) and velocity scan modulation, which sharply defines edges and outlines by controlling the speed of transitions between the black and white portions of the signal.
This set has a built-in 181-channel tuner and two 10-watt stereo speakers (for 20 watts total power). You will need an optional HDTV tuner to receiver high-definition broadcasts. You can adjust the picture's tint, color, black level, brightness, detail, and color temperature. It offers bass, treble, and balance controls for sound.
It has a DVI input connection, 3 sets of composite A/V connectors (1 in the front), 3 S-Video inputs (1 in front), 2 component video inputs, 1 RF input, and 1 audio output (with subwoofer). For the price, it can't be beat. I've been looking for quite sometime for a good HDTV that is affordable. I met almost all of my requirements with this TV. It has the usual good stuff as compared to the other TV's of similar size. I compared this set to the Panasonic 36HL43 and the Sony 34 XBR which were displayed next to each other. The Sony was out of my pricing category (way overpriced for what one gets in my opinion). The Panasonic seemed to match head - to - head in style and picture quality. I picked the JVC because it had more inputs (three rear inputs plus DVI) and was $$$$ cheaper. After having the TV for three weeks and almost returning it for a Plasma, I've decided to keep it, as its the best all around deal that I found. HDTV and progressive Scan DVD pictures are incredible (however, all models at this price better be). my only complaints are as follows:
1) PIP does not have side-by-side (though it does have dual-tuner)
2) The speaker system is adequate. However, in HDTV mode, the volume needs to be increased to the upper third setting. I am going to have to upgrade with a speaker system so this is not a big deal
3) The pre-set colors don't work well in non-HDTV. The TV comes pre-set with real heavy reds.
4) Not a lot in the way of reviews for this TV. I took a chance on this TV based on prior good experiences with JVC.
5) Regular Cable is a drag after watching HDTV. It's more of a fault with Cox, as even though their boxes have the capability for DVI hook up (same as the TV) Cox doesn't support it yet. I'm hoping regular TV picture clarity will greatly improve.

comically difficult user interface and failed after one week.......2005-02-22
Be suspicious of any car radio without a volume control knob. This machine has a handful of tiny buttons and is nearly impossible to operate while driving. When the factory radio in my 1998 Toyota Sienna died (after 7 years), I replaced it with this Kenwood and immediately regretted the decision. Half the time that I wanted radio preset 1 I hit the adjacent CD eject button by mistake. The factory radio had separate AM, FM, and CD buttons. The Kenwood has a SRC button that you have to press repeatedly to change sources. It is much less direct and requires you to take your eyes off the road to see what source is displayed on the front panel. Most of the front panel space, by the way, is given over to a bizarre light show that is unrelated to the music.
At night everything gets far worse. The button labels are even harder to read. The LEDs don't dim with the factory dimmer so the Kenwood becomes by far the brightest and most distracting thing in the car.
My unit failed after one week. Driving the car over a pothole would result in the sound cutting out and sometimes staying out until the car hit a few more potholes.
There isn't much choice in double-DIN land but Pioneer makes a unit with a volume knob and I am going to try that one next...
