Design
Under the hood, the Treo 750 features the Windows Mobile 5 operating system and 60 MB of internal memory. The design retains the same popular form factor and QWERTY keyboard as other Treo phones, but with a few subtle, yet significant, changes. The external antenna has been tucked away, and the unit's camera has been dramatically upgraded to 1.3 megapixels. The 750 has been on a diet too--weighing in at only 5.40 ounces, the 750 is one of the lightest Treo phones ever released.

On top of the unit you'll find an expansion slot for SD and MMC-based memory cards, and there's also an infrared port here for line-of-sight data transfers, as well as a handy switch for turning off the phone's ringer. Below the amazingly clear 240 x 240 color touch screen, you'll find a five-way navigator that controls most of the phone's menus and operating system functions, while quick application buttons on either side of the navigator will get you to your favorite applications in a snap. The left side of the unit features a volume up/down toggle plus a handy user-customizable button that can be assigned to any phone or PDA function. The rear of the Treo 750 houses a loudspeaker, as well as the camera unit. A touch-screen stylus can be tucked away on the right side of the phone. Meanwhile, a combined charging, data, and accessory attachment port is housed on the bottom of the unit, as is a standard 2.5 mm stereo headset jack.

Calling and PDA Features
All of the Treo 750's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. For instance, you can type in the name or initials of a contact on the keypad to dial them. Or, use the touch-screen and stylus to copy information from an email and quickly paste it into another email or text message. You can even use Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile, a feature that combines email, calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes into a single application.

Staying productive on the road is made possible by the Microsoft Office Mobile suite, which includes Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile. Meanwhile, the File Explorer application makes it easy to browse the files on your Treo 750.

All of the latest phone features folks expect are built-in, too, like a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode and picture caller ID. The 750 comes stock with unique ringtones built right into the unit, and more ringtones can be downloaded from Cingular Wireless' MEdia Net service. The capacity of the unit's address book is only limited by the amount of internal and expansion memory available. Use the Treo 750's Bluetooth capability to wirelessly sync your contacts with your PC. Headsets, car kits and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.

The unit's memory expansion slot allows you to transfer music, photos, and video from your desktop. Or, use it to load additional games and applications.

Messaging, Internet, and Entertainment
The device fully supports MMS messaging for rapid exchange of pictures, text and video via Cingular's instant messaging system. The Treo 750's Web browser supports full-size web pages, and you can enter secure pages with 128-bit SSL encryption. POP3 email accounts provided by SBC, BellSouth, Yahoo, Earthlink, Comcast and AT&T Worldnet are all compatible with the 750's email client application. IMAP and Exchange-based email systems are also supported, and you can view photos, HTML, Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments. With WCDMA/UMTS support built right into the phone, you'll be streaming and downloading at speeds so fast your head will spin.

The 750 also sports an airplane mode, which allows you to safely use the non-wireless functions of a phone (such as music, games or organizer functions) on an airplane during flight.

still getting used to my new treo...but just a warning - you can't download ringtones from Cingular (AT&T)'s MediaNet. The phone is NOT compatible with it. Bizarre to me, but that's the reality.

Great Windows Device.......2007-08-27

This is a near perfect device for those of us who are on the road a good deal and want a good solid phone, along with easy access and setup of my Outlook/Exchange email. If you want a hassle free phone/email device, this is it. I've used 2 other Windows-based devices, but Treo has improved the interface quite a bit. I'd highly recommend it.

Very bad experience.......2007-08-23

I ahd to switch to ATT because Ssprint did not cover my new office location well. I made the mistake of signing up for service over the phone. I asked for a Treo with the Palm OS and received the 750 with Windows. It was slow, froze constantly and dropped calls. I finally went to an AT&T store and got the Treo 680 (Palm OS). No dropped calls, no freezes, better signal and more intuitive interface.

Palm Quality Control & Customer Service is below Sub Par.......2007-08-20

BUYER BEWARE! Read the reviews before considering buying this. The screws keep falling out on my palm pilot, and I've found that this is a problem that many people have had (just google "Palm Replacement Screws"). If you buy this, there's a good chance that you'll be the next person having the exact same issue - so be warned. It may not seem serious, but screws coming out basically means your unit casing will come off and that leaves the memory and all the important things you write down in your schedule UNPROTECTED.

When I contacted them about the issue, I found out what the Palm company was really all about. That is, getting your money and not looking back. Instead of admitting that their is a serious design flaw with their product, and doing what they could to rememdy the situation....they figure this is another way they ought to try and add to their profit margin. Not very smart. I'm not even asking them to apologize for their imcompitant case designs (which would help them save face imho). What really gets me is that theres enough people that have this problem for it to be clearly visible to the higher ups, and some executives at the company actually made the decision that they would trade 75 cents in screws for the loss of their company name. And If the guys running the PALM company are idiots, then it's time to look elsewhere.

I can't believe they wouldn't just ship out replacements and try to fix the product designs. But as I reseacrch the net to try and find some decent replacement screws for my own unit in the meantime, I just keep finding more and more stories of good people (who don't have problems with screws coming out of other small electronics btw) who are in the same pathetic PALM ownership boat as me. Am I ever sorry I bought the unit. Besides the screws, it has reset on me on a number of occasions and luckily I'm religious about backing up data. Still, you lose some entries and its a major pain. In fact, I did miss a meeting once because I missed reentering it after the unit reset and lost data.

Well Palm won't be fattening their margins on me anymore, and I hope you heed the warning I give. I am in the market for a new Handheld, but I'll NEVER allow myself to get swindled by them again. They could've used the problem as an opportunity to show their customers that they do value us and score some points. Unfortunately for them and for us customers, the cold response I've gotten from them tells me that they really could care less and do not have a long term outlook on what it means to sell a business product as important as a scheduling device. It's best to stay away from them. I'm through giving PALM any more business. If you find a better company, please do share.

Palm Treo 750 is a fine phone.......2007-07-31

I bought mine soon after it had been released, through an authorized Cingular dealer I found on EBay. I paid $450 for it with no strings attached. Since I already had a Cingular account that was out of its prison phase, I didn't want to enter Cingular prison again in order to save $100.

I have been very impressed with its reception. I get full signal in places where I had trouble with my Sony Ericson before. The call quality is great, and the features of the phone are unreal.

I also bought two 2GB MiniSD cards ($25 ea.) and a thumb-drive sized MiniSD reader($9.95) at CompUsa. That gives me a 2GB thumb drive to carry around with me, as well as 2GB of storage for the phone (total of 4GB available storage). From any PC with a USB connection, I can download podcasts, MP3's and other things by using the MiniSD reader and swapping between the two cards. Nice.

I have had one annoying problem with the phone. Sometimes it quits making sound. This means that it won't ring when you get a call. It happens randomly and without warning. I have taken to performing a soft-reset before plugging the charger. This seems to keep it ringing most of the time. After a month or two of this problem and the Cingular guys having no idea how to solve it (it always was working whenever I'd take it into a Cingular Store) I finally found that Palm had quietly released a fix for the problem. I downloaded and applied it and everything seems fine now.

Overall this is an extremely capable phone with nice features - the ability to play solitaire while in the bathroom is no small matter! - but I am a little disappointed in Palm's handling of the obvious bug in the system's firmware.

The Treo 650 also supports Verizon's powerful "Wireless Sync" service. With Wireless Sync, you can send and receive email directly from your wireless PDA or Smartphone. By installing Wireless Sync on your desktop PC -- and as long as your PC is left on and in a condition to receive email -- you'll get new emails, calendar, contact, and task information sent to your mobile device whenever you're out of the office. RUN AWAY - this product defines caveat emptor!.......2006-10-15

I do not review things, and I have an extremely high level of tolerance for product functioning. Nevertheless, I am so fed up with my palmOne Treo 650 (which I have owned for a year), that I have called Verizon today, complained to Palm, joined a class action, and reactiviated my several year-old flip phone that has water damage. Yes - my water damaged, cheap LG phone functions better than my palm treo.

In the past several days, my phone has reset itself no less than 2-3 times an hour for no apparent reason. I have received no text messages or phone calls - either they cause my phone to freeze and reset or they just never reach my phone. Want to use your phone to check you email? Great! Too bad after a short while your phone's wireless sync will shut down and you will no longer get your email (and cannot figure out why). Want to use your phone as a PDA? Even better! Too bad that your hot sync will meltdown and have countless error logs and never sync your data correctly (if at all, ever). How about just making phone calls? Well, if they ever reach your phone, the sound quality will be so poor, you will not be able to hear them when the volume is cranked up and others will complain you are "mumbling." And forget about adding any sort of second-party software (which includes managing ring tones, voice dialing, or games).

The bottom line is that this was an overpriced, non-working device. There is a reason that there is a class action out there. Just google "palm treo sucks" and you will see what I mean.

I want to reiterate that it really takes a lot for me to get worked up about something to actually seek out opportunities to lampoon the product. This is one of those rare exceptions. Save your money until the technology catches up with our desires. A phone is a phone - simplist technology is best!

My invaluable personal assistant.......2006-10-01

If I lost my Treo tonight I would lose countless documents that I regulary review, an endless store of contacts, multiple medical references, my trusted primary phone line, games that lighten the day, memos that remind me where I am, my schedule for the next 3 months, and my alarm for tomorrow morning ... those are just the important things. As you can see, I rely on my Treo nearly as much as my wife (although clearly I would not tell her that); and it has followed through. No complaints ... I think that deserves 5 stars.

Convenient, compact, versatile...........2006-08-12

I got my Treo about 4 months ago and I love it. There are very tiny gliches (b/c of me) but nothing wrong with the phone/pda itself. I love the functionality of the Treo 650 because I can do school, business, personal, and other things all on one product.
Cons: locking up due to the fact that I haven't put an SD card in mine, so running everything at once causes problems. Blank screen and having to reset it, again that is due to my leaving it in a HOT car and in direct sunlight (good thing I have warranty)! :)
Pros: everything I said in my title and in the beginning of my writing. I do use my company software on my Treo and it's convenient for my clients to do business with me. The best thing about the Treo for me is that my son's voice is set as my ringer saying "mommy pickup your phone, you're phone is ringing." When people are around me they think it so cute that I have my son's voice as my ringer.
Great product highly recommended to coworkers, fellow students, and family.

Great PDA, Decent Phone.......2006-07-17

The PDA is great and very well integrated into the phone. The functions work seamlessly and you can customize the device very easily. The phone gets decent reception and the sound quality is good. One person has complained that they could not hear me that well but that may have been the reception or the microphone. It did not work well at all with my Motorolla HS820, and I am looking for a replacement. Internet browsing is slow but, if you don't need it for everyday use, it's a nice thing to have and the slowness isn't too annoying. So far the PDA syncs perfectly with my computer and if you are looking for a device to organize your life, this is it.

Great organizational tool for busy moms.......2006-06-18

It seems like there is a review from every possible angle, so I am adding my opinion from a point of view of a busy mom. (I am a former business professional, now a stay-at-home mom who likes to volunteer). I have used smartphones for five years - Treo is my third one - and this one is my favorite by far. I have had it for a year. I always stick with Palm OS which makes the most important tasks and functions extremely easy and intuitive.

I don't understand how people still walk around with a separate phone and even a - gasp! - paper calendar. Having everything in one place forces me to be organized. Here are my favorite uses and some dislikes:

* I plan family activities while I am on the go (which is about 10 hours a day). This is rather easy even while you are on a call with the Treo: put someone on speakerphone with a click of button on the screen and pull up your calendar.
* I check and send quick emails: it could not be any easier. I download emails in one step; I fill in email addresses from my contact database (no need to retype it). I find that my email works great even where my reception is poor.
* I send quick text messages to let people know if I am running late or if I have a quick question about something.
* Typing is very easy. The new Treo 700p makes it even easier.
* I snap up pictures of the kids throughout the day and instantly email them to family and friends. Just a click on an icon helps add an audio recording to the picture - this is very much appreciated by the grandparents!
* My favorite software is Documents To Go - I drag and drop my documents into the appropriate folder on my PC and the next sync will save it on my Treo. I used it to keep key reference documents for my meetings as well as some recipes with me. This software is included on the Palm CD.
* My other fav: ZagatToGO - I downloaded the Zagat guide (for a fee) for five cities onto my Treo and use it quite often - I can finally search easily based on any criteria; it even shows a decent map of restaurant locations.

Although I am overall quite happy, there a few minor annoying things:
* The oval center scroll button is easy to use for left/right and up scrolling. I find that I often hit the keyboard letters when trying to scroll down (and I have pretty dainty fingers!). I quickly tested the 700p and the scroll button on it seems to have addressed the issue.
* Browsing the web: forget it. Too slooooow. The 700p is supposed to be functional in this area b/c it accesses EV-DO broadband network.
* Checking my voicemail: I cannot automatically dial into my voicemail to listen to it. With the voicemail button, I essentially have to call my own phone, hear my voicemail and time my finger to press the tiny pound button at the right time to be prompted for password and another pound sign. Even using the screen for typing doesn't help as it adds an extra step for pulling up the dial pad.
Most other phones give you an option to program your password into voicemail dialing. I wish I could just hit the voicemail button and hear my voicemail without the constant password entry.

I have not had any technical issues with the phone and the Verizon PDA-phone customer service was very knowledgable and helpful when I had questions. Overall, I think this is a great phone that will help you stay on top of your life.
