It also features a high-resolution 320 x 480-pixel screen (with portrait and landscape orientation modes), a fast Intel 312 MHz ARM-based processor, expansion slot for Secure Digital (SD), MultiMedia (MMC), and Secure Digital I/O (SDIO) cards. And, of course, the Palm TX features Palm's suite of information management applications, the ability to edit Word- and Excel-compatible files, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook (Windows only).
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity
Stay connected easily when you're on the go with the built-in Wi-Fi wireless connectivity (802.11b), which enables you to access email and browse the Web at hotspots such as at coffee shops and in airports, or in your office if you have a wireless LAN network. But that's just the start. Using a compatible Bluetooth-enabled phone, you can send and receive e-mail and connect to the Web, send multimedia (MMS) or text (SMS) messages, and even automatically dial any number in your handheld's Contact's application. (You can also synchronize data the "old-fashioned" way via the USB connection at the base of the handheld.)
For mobile professionals, the Palm TX provides all the conveniences of managing email on the road. With Wi-Fi access or Bluetooth technology, you can check corporate or campus email as well as personal accounts; download, read and edit a Word or Excel report on the fly; synchronize Outlook contacts, calendar, tasks and memos; and work with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, using VersaMail software, to synchronize email and calendar

The installed Palm OS 5.4 also introduces the Files application, which enables easy navigation among folders and files. Windows users can synchronize their calendar, contacts, tasks, and notes with Microsoft Outlook. The Palm OS features the following organizer applications:
- Contacts: Lets you store several addresses for each contact, and with new fields for more phone numbers, multiple e-mail addresses, instant messenger IDs, and Web sites.
- Calendar: Use the new Agenda view to see upcoming calendar events, tasks due, and important e-mail, and color-code your events to provide an easy way to reference your calendar in the Agenda, Day, Week, and Month views. Take more notes, or synchronize more details from your desktop, in the larger Memos and Notes fields.
- Tasks: Use tasks with alarms and repeating tasks to set reminders for important commients.

No Muss, No Fuss, No Bother.......2007-09-18
After a flirtation with a pocket pc which just did not work very well, I came back to the stability and familiarity of Palm. The form factor seems to me just fine; no loose buttons, etc.
I should make clear that I do not use WiFi, Bluetooth, Web Browsers, music players, or photo/video storage; and I never use Graffiti. That is not to say I never will, I just have not seen the need as yet. What I do use, A LOT, is Excel. So the T/X, with its portrait & landscape orientations appealed to me. I have always liked the Palm PIM, and especially like Note Pad, which offers a freehand way to jot anything down quickly.
I have only had this thing for a week, but am impressed; some pros & cons:
Pros:
-Large bright clear screen
-Slim, fits in shirt pocket
-Excel and Word supported
-PIM is good
-Nice pop-up electronic keyboard
-Reasonable price (got mine on sale)
Cons:
-No cradle; charger and sync are two separate cables
-A voice recorder would have been nice
-The flip-cover it comes with is just silly
I hope to update this review as I get more experience with this unit.
nice little PDA, but software is out-of-date.......2007-09-16
This PDA has a lot of positive qualities, but unfortunately Palm doesn't seem to have really updated the software since it was first released. Just a few items to note:
- By today's standards, the browser is old fashioned, and only displays the "mobile internet," not the real internet like many new cell phones, the Nokia N800, and other newer PDAs.
- Doesn't support WPA2 wireless security, unlike every other wireless device I've purchased recently.
- Doesn't support 802.11g, only 802.11b.
For me the lack of WPA2 support is a deal breaker. I don't want to downgrade the security on my whole network, just to be able to use the Palm t|x.
(By the way, Palm issued a security patch last year, for which you have to pay $6, but even it doesn't support WPA2 personal. Go figure.)
Nice PDA.......2007-09-16
The Palm TX works very well. I haven't used Bluetooth yet, however the WiFi is excellent. It's fast and easy to navigate. Battery life is excellent. The TX is a very good value and I think the Palm OS is the best operating system.
Great Product.......2007-09-15
I was looking for something that would allow me to see where I needed to be and when I need to be there on one screen. I had been looking at getting a Palm but was unsure which one to get. I loved this model because it allowed not only for the appointment book but also for easy movement of word documents and power point presentations. I had my first experience with the updating of power points in Documents to Go! and it was so EASY!! It then allowed me to give the presentation right from my Palm straight to the screen. (of course I needed additional software for that but that was easy to get and run too!!) I can even dial numbers from my Palm to my phone via Bluetooth. It's awesome!! I would recommend this product to any business person, as well as students, who want everything in one spot.
Lackluster Device from Palm does a little of everything poorly........2007-09-14
The Palm TX certainly has promise. It says it does a lot of things -- web browser, contact and data management, audio and video content as a media player... but it fails to deliver on almost all fronts.
Most of the time, it's the little things that really detract from the device though. The handwriting recognition is embarassingly innaccurate at times, making it impractical for any kind of note taking. The device will frequently fail to power up when pressing the power button or any other button -- I'll usually have to mash the buttons three times before the device responds.
I have a Mac, and it doesn't really sync well with it. Neither did the PocketPC I owned, so that's probably more the computer than the device, or the third-party syncing solution I bought.
Battery life is so-so. The UI is clunky and while worlds better on the "high-res" screen compared to the Z22 or older low res screen, it's still feels dated, ugly and non-customizable.
The browser is a joke. I thought this even before Apple delivered Safari on the iPhone. It's ugly, and it can't really render pages, it can't cache anything so you're forced to download pages constantly.
Versamail was buggy and was of no use to me, either. Bluetooth syncing never worked right, the device would constantly drop the connection. Not sure again if this was my computer or the device, but it still never delivered.
The only thing this device kind of sort of does right is contact and task management. I use it primary for that purpose. Everything else is impractically marred by its frustrating UI. But $250 is a lot to pay for a device that's supposed to be so much more but in reality is no good for anything beyond what it's cheaper sibling, the Z22 can do. But I bought TWO Z22's and they both died on me within a week, which basically forced me to buy the TX. The Tungsten E2 is a cripped version of the TX with no wifi and without that it's just an overpriced device.
Palm really needs to change itself in order for me to ever consider buying another device. The Palm OS is dead and needs an overhaul, and I only keep this device around because I can't afford to buy anything else right now - I begrudgily keep it.
It is much better than the PocketPC I owned, but when people ask me if I like the device, I have to say no. I don't like it. It works, sort of, and I so I merely tolerate it.
I shouldn't have to to say that about a device like this.

What's more, you can save everything to your computer. Compatible with thousands of optional Palm application software that can be preloaded in your PC and synched to your Z22

some hints for usage and the good and bad.......2007-09-17
Ok, so I am veteran PalmPilot user, from the Pro to the m500 and now this one.
I'll make a few general comments here and then some specifics:
(1) Why buy a palmpilot?
Well, if you can, you probably want to do a smartphone instead (e.g. Treo). But if you don't want to do the smartphone, the palmpilot is a great way to stay organized and on top of things
(2) Why not just use a laptop?
The palmpilot is small, light, and it turns on... immediately.
The good and the bad of the Z22:
GOOD:
(1) very light and small - this is a great feature.
(2) Also, does seem relatively tough so far.
(3) very nice screen
BAD:
(1) the palm desktop software is sorely in need of updating. What are these guys thinking? The basic apps seem the same as 6 years ago, and that's not ok. In particular - warning - the desktop software has an "unchangeable" font. So if you have a modern laptop/computer, you won't be happy. - but this is not a killer for this product (see below).
(2) It is not clear if there is any keyboard that works with it - wake up, Palm. Most people really dislike Graffiti text entry. I tolerate it, but would buy a keyboard. And because the Palm Desktop is so outdated, the keyboard is even more useful.
HINTS ON USAGE:
(1) If you are going to enter text, just buy a software text replacement immediately - like Mobilewrite or TealScript. The Graffiti 2 system is terrible; Graffiti 1 is much faster and accurate. These pieces of software will allow usage of Graffiti 1.
(2) If you are managing any significant number of projects (including just your personal projects like books to read), then just buy a replacement for the Todo list application. I like Natara Bonsai; but Shadowplan also looks very good. The great thing about these is that they have a very nice desktop application - so you can do everything on the desktop comfortably. I've been using Bonsai for years.
(3) a case is important. A cheap digital camera case will easily fit the palm - and has great padding.
So 4 stars?
This is a godsend for tracking complicated information and getting things done. I just wish I had bought it about 9 months ago, when I embarked on a long complicated project. I'm happy to have it now.
Z22.......2007-09-17
This is the second Z22 that I have purchased new. No problems, functions well. I did however also purchase a refurbished one that only lasted about 2 1/2 months. BUY NEW!
Terrific product!.......2007-09-17
Very pleased with the Z22, an excellent product and fine quality. I wish I had upgraded before!
PDR MAVEN.......2007-09-09
WHEN I BOUGHT MY PALM Z22 IT WAS TO REPLACE AN OLDER MORE CUMBERSOME PALM PILOT THAT I HAD FOR YEARS AND YEARS. I FIND THAT I CAN CARRY THE NEW ONE IN ANY PURSE OR JUST IN MY POCKET. THE ONLY PROBLEM I FIND IS THAT THE WRITING IS SO SMALL. I USE IT FOR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL USE. I WOULD BE LOST WITHOUT IT.
SINCERELY,
PATRICIA SARKA
Simple but Great Palm.......2007-09-09
I bought one of these new for $99. It is cute, small and does everything I need it too. I'm not a businesswoman, so I don't need internet and document editing, just simple things like a calendar, contacts list and calculator. There are also some entertaining games you can get for the Z22 as well. The screen isn't the most amazing quality, but for the price it is just fine. I reccomend this to anyone who is looking for an inexpensive, simple way to keep organized.

Great Gizmo.......2007-09-21
Bought this device to use for a new job that I have just started. Could not be happier with the unit I received. One thing that I will complain about - when I bought the unit, I also bought one of the Palm 2GB SD memory cards. Only to find out that this particular unit (E2) can't use that large an expansion card. So I ended up returning the 2GB card and buying two 1GB cards instead. I also bought the book, "How to Do Everything with Your Palm Powered Device" - which I found to be very helpful in minimizing my learning curve. I originally bought this device to do the standard business sort of things, but I must confess that since discovering that you can use it to read eBooks AND play MP3s - I now have a hard time going somewhere without this thing tagging along.
Palm Tungsten E2.......2007-09-17
I purchased the Palm Tugnsten E2 to use with my Banks diesel tuner program. The Banks software installed correctly and the PDA has provided all of the functions available in the Banks software.
Long term durability.......2007-09-13
We began placing these devices in service in March of 2005 (initially the Tungsten E, currently the Tungsten E2). We currently have 17 units issued to our staff in the field.
Since these units are used for data collection (data is up/downloaded to our server via Pendragon Forms software) our palm devices are in more-or-less continuous use. A great deal of wear and tear is to be expected.
Surprisingly, of the 17 units deployed we have only experienced three problems: Three Tungsten E power switch failures (all repairable) and an E2 main board failure. (The power switch weakness in the E seems to have been resolved in the E2.)
To me this is pretty remarkable given the 39,857 client contact records handled to date by these 17 units.
I think this speaks very well of the quality of the E/E2 line. I would, accordingly, recommend the E2 for anyone needing a very durable PDA.
Great idea, horrible company and customer service, veritably useless product........2007-09-10
I bought this Palm thinking it would assist me in keeping my life organized.
Mind you, until I installed Windows Vista, everything was going just fine.
Their customer support is beyond pathetic, they're just about as great as Philips customer support. Both are horrible companies with apathetic people working the phone lines. You'll be lucky if you get to speak to one with intelligible English and not Tagalog.
My screen suddenly won't turn on, and the unit won't respond to any button presses. I can neither soft nor hard reset the device. I've tried charging it, I've tried everything.
I bought my Tungsten E2 for $199. Upon calling their customer support, I was greeted with a message saying that phone support would cost $25 unless I was to send it in for repairs. If I should choose to send it in for repair, it would cost $149.
I might as well buy a new Palm. Really? $149 when I bought the bloody thing for $199? That's absurd.
I tell myself that I should have bought replacement insurance for it, but I realize that I should not have bought the damned thing at all.
Don't waste your time with a product that is meant to become a useless brick in the end. If you're a very delicate user who intends to utilize your device for simple functions, go for it. Otherwise, be prepared to throw much of your money away.
Great Device... HORRIBLE RELIABILITY.......2007-09-06
I am a very busy facility manager, and I need the Palm operating system (OS). I believe the Palm OS is superior to any other PDA OS, and I do not have the time to learn something else. This product is exactly what I need badly, but it is just too expensive to only last from 6 to 18 months. I am painfully aware of this because my fifth (5th) one of these (always purchased new) just quit.
I do not abuse these units! I keep them from moisture, shock, and vibration. All I do is use them gently, a lot. Most of the failures have been related to the beeper which I rely on as a meeting or deadline reminder. Other failures have been battery related. The latest failure is the centering procedure for the stylus operation being off ¼" too high on the display no matter what I do making the alpha-numeric touch screen function impossible to access.
If this product cost less than $50.00 knowing it will only last for months not years, I may again consider it. I guess I am saying it is cheap junk only worth $50.00 at retail.
I seriously considered some of the Sharp and Casio models, but I need a program like Documents-to-Go so I can upload my large database of Excel notes which I can search while away from my office. I wound up purchasing a "like new" Handspring Visor Prism for just over $100.00.
If anyone knows of a (reliable) color PDA that runs the latest Palm OS, and is not expensive, please post or comment to this message. This information would not only help myself, but many others...
By the way, I would not recommend wasting your good money on this unit!

Solid, but a couple quirky design decisions........2007-09-21
This is a solidly built, highly protective case for the Palm Tungsten TX (I assume it also works well for the T5, but this one was bought for a TX). The design is simple; it consists of an aluminum hardshell lined with thin neoprene that provides shock protection. It doesn't add much to the size or weight of the TX, and most everything is accessible with the case shut (you probably can't put it in a crade-type charger, but that's about it.) Overall quality seems pretty good, and your TX is likely to survive a drop from 'held in your hand' height to the floor with no or minimal cosmetic damage.
There are, however, two quirky things with the design that caused me to ding it a star in the rating.
1) The latch/grip point you use to open the case is, IMO, poorly designed. It is fairly difficult to open the case with one hand, since the little grippy bit on the 'front' of the case is hard to grip/push effectively. There is a small lip on the 'back' side that is easy to push against -- but you normally would open the case by pulling the 'front' towards you, not pushing the 'back' away. On the bright side, it is not going to come open accidentally in a bag or anything like that.
2) The SD card slots in the inside front of the unit seem to be backwards. The way the cards go into the slots, you are looking at the backside of them -- and the contacts are exposed and vulnerable to damage! They should be flipped around the other way so that the contacts are protected better and you can see the labels on the front of the cards.
The belt clip isn't that great -- it doesn't 'lock' like some other designs I've seen, so the PDA can swing and rotate annoyingly -- but at least is solidly built and doesn't look like it will fall apart or fall off. If you want something to keep a TX on your hip, look elsewhere.
This case is nearly identical in design to the "Palm TX Armor Case" (which I also ordered for comparison purposes). That case is available in black if you want a hard case that isn't silver in color. I kept this one because the it seemed a little sturdier and it came with a 2-year product protection label from StuffBak for free.
definitely recommend to others.......2007-09-13
I bought this case to use with my palm TX, chosen after reading other reviews on this product, as well as other products i was considering. The case fits great, looks great and seems very durable. I have no complaints whatsoever.
Not perfect, but the best on the market.......2007-09-01
Even after reading the reviews on here about this case and the case that Palm themselves make, I still opted to buy the true Palm case at my local electronics store. I liked it's appearance better, and I REALLY liked that the door folded all the way back, so the item is not as bulky when using/referencing it on the go. But, as the amazon reviews state, it's latching mechanism is very poor. Mine did not break in the one week before I returned the item, but it was very hard to close and would take me considerable time to get it latched. Also, it's not a tight fit--the Palm rattles around like crazy in there, and you would think the Palm people would at least know how big their own device is!!
So I ordered this Rhinoskin case the following day, and returned the Palm case once it arrived. I am very pleased with my decision, though it is sad that the Rhino case does not have a completely hinging door that can fully rotate back--it can be a little awkward and clumsy to hold when referencing it while talking to a patient out in the aisle (I'm a pharmacist). But, it's super easy to open and close and feels very secure when latched. And, it's very protective (probably the most important feature!). It was in my white coat pocket the other night, when I picked my coat up upside down, and the Palm fell to the sidewalk. I freaked, but all was OK with the Rhinoskin. :)
Fit the Palm TX better than a glove.......2007-08-26
The "rhino skin" palmOne Tungsten TX/T5 Aluminum case is the perfect case for the Tungsten TX. It feels very rugged, fits extremely well, yet it is very easy to use the TX while it's still in the case. Also, all the ports (IR, SD, Power, Sync) can be accessed while the case is closed. I highly recommend this case.
solid, but difficult to open and a bit rough.......2007-08-21
Fit great and look pretty strong. It is so difficult to open and the case unless you just ate something sweet. Dropped it once try to pry it open with my fingers. Luckily I was on the sofa. The outside case is not sanded completetly as you can feel some rough spots which is annoying something.

And, of course, the Palm TX features Palm's suite of information management applications, the ability to edit Word- and Excel-compatible files, and synchronization with Microsoft Outlook (Windows only).
Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Wireless Connectivity

The unlocked PalmOne Treo 650 boasts all the legendary features of the venerable Treo 600, plus a whole lot more. Now with Bluetooth, a higher resolution screen, a removable battery, and an improved keyboard, the Treo 650 is once again on the cutting edge of Smartphone technology. It offers all the functionality of a high-end Palm OS-powered PDA, a cell phone and a VGA camera. Simply put, it's the ultimate mobile office companion.
Design
Click the image to get a closer look at the Treo 650's features. |
Under the hood, the Treo 650 features Palm OS 5.4, 32MB of RAM (23MB available for end user storage), and an Intel PXA270 312 MHz processor. The design retains the same popular form factor as the Treo 600 with a few subtle, yet significant, changes. The unit's screen has been dramatically enhanced to support 320 x 320 resolution and the full QWERTY keypad has been redesigned for greater ease of use. The top of the unit features an expansion card slot for SD and MMC-based memory and expansion cards. There's also an infrared port here for line of sight data transfers, as well as a handy switch for turning off the phone's ringer. A five-way navigator controls most of the phone's menus and operating system functions, while quick application buttons on either side of the navigator get you to your favorite applications in a snap. The left side of the unit features a volume up/down toggle plus a handy user-customizable button that can be assigned to any phone or PDA function. The rear of the Treo 650 houses a loudspeaker, as well as the VGA (640x480) camera unit. A touchscreen stylus can be tucked away on the right side of the phone. Meanwhile, a combined charging, data, and accessory attachment port is housed on the bottom of the unit, as is a standard 2.5 mm stereo headset jack.
Calling and PDA Features
All the of the Treo 650's phone and PDA functions are designed to provide an integrated, seamless experience. For instance, you can type in the name or initials of a contact on the keypad to dial them. Or, use the touchscreen and stylus to copy information from an email and quickly paste it into another email or text message. All of the latest phone features folks expect are built-in, too, like a handsfree speakerphone, polyphonic ringtones, a vibrate mode and picture caller ID. The capacity of the unit's address book is only limited by the amount of internal and expansion memory available. Use the Treo 650's Bluetooth capability to wirelessly sync your contacts with your PC or Mac (yes, Mac!). Headsets, car kits and other wireless peripherals can also be paired with the unit via Bluetooth.
The Treo 650 is also a fully functional Palm OS device. That means that a huge library of applications, from spreadsheets to word processors to games, can be added to the Treo 650. It's easy to perform multiple tasks like checking your calendar while talking on the phone or dialing calls directly from your contacts list. Familiar Palm OS software ships with the handset including calendar, calculator, clock, contacts, memo, and task management applications. Real Player for video and MP3 playback, VersaMail email client, and DataViz Documents to Go for mobile access to spreadsheets and text documents, are also included.
The unit's memory expansion slot allows you to transfer music, photos, and video from your desktop. Or, use it to load additional games and applications.
Messaging and Internet
The device fully supports SMS and MMS messaging for rapid exchange of pictures, text and video. You can even get mobile email and web browsing. The Treo 650's web browser supports full-size web pages, and you can enter secure pages with 128-bit SSL encryption. POP3 email accounts provided by SBC, BellSouth, Yahoo, Earthlink, Comcast and AT&T Worldnet are all compatible with the 650's email client application. IMAP and Exchange-based email systems are also supported, and you can view photos, HTML, Word, Excel and PowerPoint attachments.

The PalmOne Treo 650 weighs 6.30 ounces and measures 4.40 x 2.30 x .90 inches. Its lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 6 hours of digital talk time, and up to 300 hours of digital standby time. It runs on the 800/900/1800/1900 GSM/GPRS frequencies. The phone comes with a one year limited warranty.

Don't want anything else.......2007-09-14
I have had a Treo 650 for about two years now. I am a cell phone junkie and like to have the newest technology but I love this phone so much I won't even think of getting something else. I won't even "upgrade" to a newer Treo. As a matter of fact the one I have in use now is my second. I bought the first one used on the internet to test it out and the second new. It reboots from time to time but only if I have the text message notification and try to delete messages with out clearing the notifications. Not a big deal at all.
I have downloaded Ringo so I can use MP3's for ringers which was my biggest gripe of all.
The camera takes ok pictures but I am not expecting professional quality from my phone. Just a snapshot to remember the moment. If you really want good pictures take your camera for pete's sake.
Beware of the TREO 650 latelly !!!.......2007-09-13
I has been a PALM fan since the 90s ... just decided to buy a TREO. The 680 and its battery limitations suggest me to go with the 650 (out of production) ... This is going to be hard to believe but : I bought 5 (yes FIVE) TREO 650s, the first 4 were defective (keyboard problems, one came without camera !!!, another just freezes after it was turned o, and the last one didn't work with my fully functional GSM SIM Card) ... went to to TigerDirect in MIAMI, returned the last one, and changed for a unit that, so far, WORKS !!!!
Palm should be ashame ...
Bad luck?.......2007-08-23
I received the product in a timely manner. Started using it without a problem. Slipped in my SIM card and bingo! Got all my data from my old Palm from the laptop backup, no problem. Shortly after, I noticed that several keys weren't working. Particularly annoying was the right upper case and Return key, as well as the m and o keys.
Sent the product back, was promptly refunded and ordered a new one. We'll see!
Palm Quality Control & Customer Service is below Sub Par.......2007-08-20
BUYER BEWARE! Read the reviews before considering buying this. The screws keep falling out on my palm pilot, and I've found that this is a problem that many people have had (just google "Palm Replacement Screws"). If you buy this, there's a good chance that you'll be the next person having the exact same issue - so be warned. It may not seem serious, but screws coming out basically means your unit casing will come off and that leaves the memory and all the important things you write down in your schedule UNPROTECTED.
When I contacted them about the issue, I found out what the Palm company was really all about. That is, getting your money and not looking back. Instead of admitting that their is a serious design flaw with their product, and doing what they could to rememdy the situation....they figure this is another way they ought to try and add to their profit margin. Not very smart. I'm not even asking them to apologize for their imcompitant case designs (which would help them save face imho). What really gets me is that theres enough people that have this problem for it to be clearly visible to the higher ups, and some executives at the company actually made the decision that they would trade 75 cents in screws for the loss of their company name. And If the guys running the PALM company are idiots, then it's time to look elsewhere.
I can't believe they wouldn't just ship out replacements and try to fix the product designs. But as I reseacrch the net to try and find some decent replacement screws for my own unit in the meantime, I just keep finding more and more stories of good people (who don't have problems with screws coming out of other small electronics btw) who are in the same pathetic PALM ownership boat as me. Am I ever sorry I bought the unit. Besides the screws, it has reset on me on a number of occasions and luckily I'm religious about backing up data. Still, you lose some entries and its a major pain. In fact, I did miss a meeting once because I missed reentering it after the unit reset and lost data.
Well Palm won't be fattening their margins on me anymore, and I hope you heed the warning I give. I am in the market for a new Handheld, but I'll NEVER allow myself to get swindled by them again. They could've used the problem as an opportunity to show their customers that they do value us and score some points. Unfortunately for them and for us customers, the cold response I've gotten from them tells me that they really could care less and do not have a long term outlook on what it means to sell a business product as important as a scheduling device. It's best to stay away from them. I'm through giving PALM any more business. If you find a better company, please do share.
In all the time.......2007-07-31
..I;ve had this phone it has done everything I've wanted to do. my only real complaint isn't so much with the phone it with my service provider. I use sprint and they charge an extra $15 dollars when I should be using Verizon. The phone works great I can't wait to upgrade.

Customer Reviews:
Great Product... HORRIBLE RELIABILITY.......2007-09-08
Palm Tungston e.......2007-09-05
I really like the product. It works well. The only drawback that I've found is that the battery doesn't hold a charge very long. I previously had the Palm Tungston e2 and never encountered this problem. I could use the unit days without recharging it. This one needs to be recharged within the day of charging. I will inquire about this with the seller. Aside from this, as mentioned, I love the unit.
what a piece of junk!.......2007-09-05
I bought mine 2 years ago for Christmas. This thing has been a nightmare. For one the battery life stinks. It could just be mine but it has a battery life of a couple of days. It has NO PERSISTENT memory! So when the battery goes so does the info. I though I could do a work around by making sure it was charged every night. Guess what? I never was able to consistently charge it and then I was back to an empty palm. Heaven forbid you go on a trip and forget the charging cord. AND to top it all off it has a battery attached to the motherboard so if you want to change it you must either send it into palm or by another and do some work to open the case with non standard screw driver and then solder a connection to the batter.
Yes sure it has a beautiful screen and great functionality but without battery life it's only use is a paper weight.
So run away - very far away.
WHAT A HEADACHE!!!.......2007-08-08
Well, I bought the Tungsten E around the Fall of 2003. I was really happy with it for a while. Then it started to have charging problems. This must have started happening after the warrenty expired otherwise I would have sent it back. So I kept using it and doing a soft reset every so often. Then after not using it for a month or so, I tried to turn it on and it wouldn't do anything. So I tried the soft reset and nothing happened. Then I did a hard reset. That worked for a day or so then it wouldn't turn on again so I did a hard reset again and it turned on then off. That's when I decided I didn't have time to deal with it and put it aside until tonight. I started out looking on line for a solution to this problem. Instead of finding that I found 133 one or two star reviews out of 328 on one web site. And of those there were many more ones than twos. This told me to quit wasting my time trying to fix the piece of @#$! and start saving for a non Palm PDA. I may also do a search for Tungsten E Palm and class action law suit because one of the many bad reviewers of this product mentioned that they had heard about the possibility of one being brought against the company that so obviously knew they had a bad product. Why else would they have put only a 90 day warranty on it when all or most of their other products have 12 months? Anyway I am just glad that I read all of these before I wasted my time and money calling Palm's so called customer service. I guess I did find an answer to my problem after all. Buy a new PDA not made by Palm.
A usable PDA.......2007-04-29
Positives: Tungsten E has been a zippy and durable PDA in my use over the last 2 years. The screen resolution is excellent and the processor speed is more than adequate. I never cared for wireless connection, so to me it was not an issue.
Negatives: the screen makes an audible and very annoying high pitched noise (if you read blogs over the internet, it is a pervasive and highly annoying problem -- one that Palm has been unwilling or unable to address). I guess this is what you get when your electronics are made in China;
The onboard memory of 32 Mb is frankly inadequate for 2007; installation of applications to memory card dramatically slows their access speed

The perfect reference tool for the writer on the go -- a complete dictionary and thesaurus on a memory card!
Customer Reviews:
My Palm Dictionary do not work well........2007-08-23
Of the Thesauros and Dictionary, the last do not work properly. Some times the software are not loaded and frequently block the entire device.
The unusable dictionary.......2007-06-13
This would really be a great dictionary if the company allowed it to be installed on one's own SD Card. Instead, one must remove your card and install the one that came with the product each time you want to use the dictionary.
Handmark's Oxford English Dictionary allows you to install without requiring its own dedicated card. However, once you reach high school age, this dictionary is worthless. There are few words more than 2 syllables long in it.
Too bad the much more advanced Merriam Webster Dictionary is so unuseable.
Easy to use but -.......2007-04-11
Easy to use, but cannot reference the dictionary when in another program which limits its use. A very good dictionary & thesaurus otherwise.
Homework for my kids is a breeze now.......2007-03-12
My daughter outgrew her Quantum Pad so I got her a Palm Pilot TX and loaded it full of educational reference material as well as e-books to read at her level. I made sure to include this dictionary and thesaurus. Now it's very easy for her to figure otu the correct spelling of words when she's writing as well as look up definitions of her spelling words. This little program will definitely grow with her to use in Jr. High and HIgh School. The learning curve to used this was minimal to my 10 year old. The definitions are comprehensive enough for her to get what she needs. My 7 year old often borrows this dictionary for his homework too. I even find myself using it from time to time. It beats the time consuming flipping through pages of a book and takes up such little space.
Great little device........2007-02-23
I bought this even though the reviews weren't all that good, namely that it was slow to respond. Although I find that it works superbly. I carry it with my Palm in the case and use it from time to time at work and home. It's much easier that trying to locate a hard copy of the dictionary. It is very easy to use and needs no instructions. Fantastic buy for the price.

Palm TX Tungsten flip case.......2007-09-15
Very nice, serves it's purpose and protects my palm. I don't use the belt attachment so I don't know how that works. Made of good quality material.
very good case, but not perfect.......2007-08-28
I've had this case for about 6 months now, and I'm generally happy with it. It protects my TX well, isn't too bulky, and allows easy access to most of the functions I need. I've continued to look at other options since buying this and haven't found anything better.
I'm not giving it 5 stars because of some minor quibbles, some of which may not be avoidable:
(1) the bottom of the case usually gets in the way of the "down" part of the center button on the TX (the 'solution' of sliding it up in the case works, but is clumsy),
(2) you can't close the case when headphones are plugged in. I plan to fix this as soon as I get my hands on a suitable leather hole punch.
(3) the fit has gotten a little loose as the leather has stretched. That one is definitely inevitable if you go with leather.
Flip case easy to open.......2007-08-16
The case has a handy magnetic closure which helps keep the lid closed even without "snapping" it shut. It is easy to remove the Palm in the event you need to. Charging is easy with the case on.
Accessing the very edge of the screen is slightly more difficult with the case on. I was concerned about protecting the Palm and this works well.
I do not use the clip attachment, so I've had no problems with the screw mounted clip attachment.
Because of this case I lost my PDA.......2007-07-14
Like the other reviewer said this case is held by a small flat head screw from the plastic belt clip, if it rocks back and forth a lot it will fall off which it unfortunately did easily and now my 300 dollar Palm TX/T5 is gone and probably I will never see it again. Which is highly unfortunate and I will need to buy a new PDA since I need one. On the bright side the case itself is made from high quality leather and looks attractive but what's the point if the case can fall off easily from your belt clip.
Excellent Palm TX Case.......2007-07-01
This is an excellent and well designed case; it fits the Palm TX beautifully. When closed, it covers all openings at the top and both sides leaving only an opening at the bottom for access to the hot sync and charging ports. When open it folds all the way back so the Palm can truly fit in the palm of your hand as it was designed to do. When open the expansion card slot, on/off button, and ear phone plug are all readily available. I have only noticed this: I have to be more precise in aiming the stylus when scrolling as the sides of the case come up around the sides of the Palm to the edge of the screen and when I insert the charger I have to be sure it is well inserted as the case edges can make it a little more difficult to ensure it is inserted all the way. The hot sync port is less problematic as it is so much larger than the AC charging port. With just a little extra care you will soon get used to it. It is well worth it and is one of the nicest cases I've ever seen for a Palm.

Customer Reviews:
not worth it!.......2007-09-16
I purchased this product and quickly learned the reason as to why it's been discontinued. It is HORRIBLY slow. It freezes up when trying to simply search for wireless networks, or when switching between screens. Then I installed some medical programs on it and it was even slower. Finally I uploaded one photograph to it......ONE!! And the thing got stuck in a reset loop. It just kept resetting itself, and no matter what buttons i pushed or for how long it just kept turning on and off and on and off. When I taped it back up in the box to return, it was still resetting itself. I think the battery died not long after I shipped it back.
If you find a better company, please do share.
nothing but a paperweight.......2007-08-06
I purchased the lifedrive to use at work and at home. Well I have had it for 7 or 9 months and now it will not work. Nothing more than a paperweight. It shows that it is charging but it never charges to completion. It will not turn on even when you dock it to your computer. I have tried the reset button to no avail. My lifedrive is dead in less than a year. I'm looking for a replacement and I'm currently looking at the HP 2495 or 2795.
NIce device BUT...........2007-07-29
Batteries SUCK!! - one day without a charge and zappo! NADDA JUICE!!! WI-FI & BlueTooth work good - nice cross platform with MAC and PC - but WOW - the battery life is TERRIBLE!!!!! - great screen resolution. Nice features - BUT BATTERY LIFE IS SUCKING THE LIFE OUT OF MY LIFEDRIVE!!!!!
What happened to Palm?.......2007-07-05
The only reason I gave this product 3 stars is partly due to the fact that I paid only $250 for mine (which is a bargain compared to what I would have paid for a TX) and it "at least" does what it advertises it will do out of the box. Beyond that this LifeDrive is insanely unstable and will crash at least 3 times a day.
Flipping the device over will proudly reveal "made in China" stamped on the back and no offense to anyone reading this, but the performance of this device aptly shows it. The LifeDrive features are nice and I appreciate being able to carry a vast amount of media around with me and have the luxury of previewing it on my device. But I am offended that back in the day Palm charged $500+ for a buggy device like this. That isn't even considering the fact that there are many customer complaints stating that the device is lucky to last beyond a year's use. Using this device made me yearn for my Blackberry in that it has yet to crash given the tasks I throw at it. What happened Palm?
