The SA-VAD900 integrates a full-size speaker system with a built-in subwoofer. The front, rear and center speakers have a slim profile for maximizing living space. Additionally, the system includes a digital AM/FM tuner, an optical input as well as two video inputs, making it simple to hook up additional components such as a Satellite System, VCR or other source.

Earth Shattering KABOOM!.......2006-05-02

This system is loud. Watching TV with it, I rarely if ever turn it up about 12. Watching movies I've listened at 15 on the volume control. Once, just out of curiousity, I turned it up to the Max (40) and was amazed to hear (with what was left of my hearing) almost no degradation in sound quality. I also got a noise complaint from 3 stories down and diagonally across the dorm building. Extremely impressive power.

The most impressive thing is the ability to decode DTS right in the system. This makes the system excellent for anyone looking for a simple system that provides a top-notch audio experience. The lack of a component out put is actually not as much of a concern as I now run HDMI, so I run it directly to the TV and then run an Optical audio cable to the input on the speakers. You still get the 5.1 no problem. I have used this system for 4 years now with my PS2, TV and watching DVDs and I must say that I have friends invite themselves over just to watch movies and play games at my house because of the sound. Excellent, excellent system with clean, simple design.

A good Home Theater Unit.......2005-07-12

I have had this unit for 3 years. I am very satisfied with it.
I just added a new DVD with progressive scan capability. I connected it directly to the SONY VEGA televison using component video. I connected the digital audio from the new DVD player to the SAVAD900 unit via the TOSLINK. I noticed that when playing a DVD in the SAVAD900 it would decode the DD and DTS 5.1, however when playing the same DVD in my new DVD player connected to the SAVAD900 the DD and DTS was not decoded. I have read the SAVA Owner's Manual carefully. IT does not explicitly state that DD and DTS decoding is only available via the native DVD player but it must be so. I expected any digital audio source connected to the SAVA would be decoded as well. Guess not. THis is disappointing. Must be time to upgrade to a new Home Theater system. Anyone looking to buy a good used SAVAD900 unit please email me. [...]

FIVE STAR 5.1 THEATER SYSTEM .......2004-12-31

This system was ahead of its time and I wish Sony had decided to continue its production with desired improvements. Additional component hookups could be used along with other small refinements. If you are lucky enough to get your hands on a good used system it will not disappoint you, in fact it will hammer out unbelievable picture & sound quality from both your DVD & CD collection supporting 5.1, Superbit & DTS. This system is by far one of the best I have ever had the pleasure to own. Some may balk at its size but in this case smaller is not always better making the small fry systems of today lacking in style & ability. Overlooking the size which is not that bulky but actually quite stylish with a 5 disk changer AM/FM tuner incorporated in one of the speaker units and subwoofer in the other to include your center & satellite speakers & providing a host of decoding modes for both music and movies. I tested every one of them and they will make a difference depending on the disk encryptions and capabilities. Single button remote access allows you to easily find the best mode without having to run setup in the beginning prior to disk play of your music & movies. This is an excellent feature for those foreign disks recorded in English but having foreign characters making your experience & collection all the more worthwhile. Sony really needs to consider raising the Phoenix from the ashes and incorporate the latest technology into it. They would sell like Hotcakes*****

Warning before you buy.......2001-12-26

No complaints on the performance of the Sony SAVAD900 Home Theater System by Sony, which I believe is their top of the line DVD/CD surround system, EXCEPT that this model does NOT play CDRs! I made the mistake of checking the lower priced model which apparently does play cdrs, but was talked into getting this one by my girlfriend because of the relatively weak subwoofer on the lower models. I cannot believe that for $1,000.00 this thing cannot play cdrs. I think it is because on this model, the dvds/cd player is housed in the speaker, as opposed to the lower models wherein there is a separate unit. SO IF YOU INTEND TO PLAYS CDRS IN YOUR HOME THEATER SYSTEM BUY A LOWER MODEL OR GET A BOSE OR A PIONEER UNIT.

Worthless and Useless.......2003-06-07

Purchasing this telephone was a HUGE mistake. The battery died after six months and looking for a replacement battery is like trying to locate a needle in a haystack! When my microwave is in use; the telephone can't be in use - what's the connection? There is none! When a message is left, the telephone continues to beep every minute until the message is checked. The only purpose for this telephone: batting practice! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME - THIS TELEPHONE ISN'T WORTH IT!!

This is perhaps the worst electronics purchase I have ever made. The phone would sometimes auto answer from the base when you picked it up, sometimes not, so half the time you were either trying to talk into a ringing phone or inadvertently disconnecting someone when you pushed the talk button. A real design innovation. I once pushed the hold button when hanging up the phone, causing the line to be busy for about 12 hours. Why would the hold button stay engaged after a call is ended? It makes no sense. The static was deplorable after a while, and the phone was unusable if you ran the microwave. Was this product not tested? Finally couldn't stand it and replaced it after less than a year.

Not Recommended.......2002-05-24

I am very disappointed with this phone. I have to press the talk button several times to get a dial tone, and then when I do get a dial tone and make a call, I have a very hard time hearing the person on the other end of the line. The caller id feature does not work, and I know it isn't my phone company because our other CID displays work fine. It always just flashes "Ringing" on the display when the phone rings. I have owned this phone for 6 months now, and I am planning to replace it very soon.

Don't buy this phone!.......2002-02-06

This phone is c**p. It is outsourced to some company and bears the IBM logo, but the quality is low (like a lot of things manufactured in China). My battery died after 5 months and I cannot find a replacement. I talked to the company that manufactures this phone and they promissed me a replacement but I did not get it yet.

The headset works only in one position. If the microwave is working in our house, I am getting static. Sometimes you would have to press a couple of times on the Talk button to get a tone.

Support is everything!.......2005-03-24

The memory stick with this product does not appear to seat right, so it simply doesn't work. Worse than that, I get no response from Margi support. I emailed them 5 days ago. I called them today and got an ANSWERING MACHINE. I left a message which they say they will answer in 8 hours or less. We'll see! I have only once or twice in my life time experienced service this bad. Searching on the Web, I think this is a known problem, and Margi appears to be hiding out. This product will be going back to Amazon, and when I teach the PDA class I will be teaching next week, I will be letting the class know about my experience!

The description of this item is incomplete. It does not specifically indicate anywhere in the description that this card requires an available ISA slot on your computer and it does. Most motherboards made within the last several years only have PCI slots but no ISA slots so you cannot use this modem if all you have are PCI slots. The full name of this product is "Hayes Accura V.90 56K ISA Faxmodem-Internal" and I wish that the description of this item specifically stated that this card required an open ISA slot. I would have bought the PCI version if I had been given a better "heads up". There is nothing wrong with the modem itself. What an unnecessary waste of time.
