Mod that makes it 5 stars CDSR100.......2007-08-28
Found intermittent operation when out of the box. Found the review on Amazon recommending a drilled hole, snipped board, and bent LED. This makes it a 5 out of 5. Works like a champ. Remove the battery. Separate top from bottom (did it with my fingernails). Stock uses two LED's to bounce light off your face through black plastic - while this makes for clean packaging - it doesn't pass light well (invisible or not). CAREFULLY bend one of the LED's to point toward your deck instead of your face. Drill a 1/8" hole (found drilling from the inside out easier) pointed toward your deck. Remove the 4 screws on the audio volume board and snip the corner off with a pair of scissors or cutters - right along the closest wire solder pad (not an absolutely necessary mod if you are crunched for time or fear). Position the LED to point toward the hole. Reassemble. 1/2 hour tops - mostly to round up tools. Make it work EVERY time. Positioned mine in an Altima @ 3 o'clock. 1 foot from the deck face. Really makes the system come alive (PIONEER DEH-9800BT with XM). Awsome combo.
Just Perfect..........2007-08-06
This remote control is perfect. I can change everything in my radio/cd/mp3 without look to the radio. It makes me drive safer.
I recommend it
Do-It-Yourself set.......2007-06-28
Well, it didn't work for me after initial setup. Honda CRV is the worst possible cars for this remote to work: the radio has some deep housing around, plus it's on top, plus there is transmission's column-mounted selector lever covering the radio from the left. It worked only in total darkness, 2 o'clock mounted.
Here comes the fix.
It's infrared, so I stared looking for a LED, which is supposed to transmit the signal. Take any home TV remote and see how it works. You'll find some clear plastic, covering a LED, or LED with no cover coming out to send a signal. Basically, it's an invisible light, nothing more.
I was surprised and shocked to find no LED visible anywhere on Pioneer CD-SR100. Since it didn't work for me and I'm too lazy to ship it back, I've decided to open the unit to see what's inside. It wasn't really hard, actually. You start from the bottom, where Pioneer logo is, carefully using a small flat screwdriver, and quickly have the unit in two peaces. This is when you'll see the LEDs, two of them, hidden inside right behind that Pioneer logo. There is a tiny hole of a hair size which, according to minds of Pioneer engineers, is big enough for the signal to come out. I don't want to use any other words here, but I totally disagree with Pioneer on their idea.
To continue, you have to remove the volume control board. It's attached with 4 small screws. After that, I took a drill, a 1/8 drill bit and just drilled a hole near that LED, which was closest to my head unit on 2 o'clock position. That's it. I even trimmed the volume board with scissors to open up the LED even more and pushed its head to the new hole. You can assemble the unit back after that.
And now it WORKS! It works at 2 o'clock, at 6, at 10, at darkness, at sun - it just works. Once again, don't want to comment Pioneer's engineers. People, finalizing the design of this unit should be fired. Actually, the soldering of the board was so-so, it's on very cheap side, has 4-5 parts on the board, and for the money the unit is too overpriced.
You're loosing you warranty after doing what I did, I bet, but for me the only way before was just to throw the unit away, so I don't care.
Thanks.
Nice control, easy to operate.......2007-03-19
Is a nice solution for remote control, is a little hard to found the perfect position on the steering wheel, but you can operate very wheel, I have my remote on the 2h30m angle, but the remote is reversed.
if you need two remotes floating around your car........2007-03-01
pros, cheap remote. cons, mounting broke on install.Do not waste your money unless you want to have a second remote to keep track of.

Mad Catz More user friendly; But Still a Great Buy.......2006-05-13
The steering wheel is described on Joytech's website as having 'precise' control. They weren't kidding. It is a little too precise, and there seems to be no way of adjusting the sensitivity.
This is not a huge issue when using the steering wheel with a racing simulator like Forza Motorsport(which is playable on the 360), since the quick response comes in handy especially when driving over 125mph. The steering wheel however requires very careful and gentle hands when taking PG3 for a test drive. Since Project Gotham's physics are a bit more arcade-like, the sensitivity tends to make the car oversteer at even the slightest turns, sending you headlong into a wall, when all you wanted to do was cut off the car in front of you. This is even more exagerrated when using any rear wheel driven vehicles (which is just about all of them).
The Mad Catz Model has onboard sensitivity controls which allow you to adjust the long and the short end steering response. This in itself makes it a more comfortable choice. Its larger size also makes it more comfortable if you chose to play from your lap. However, if you prefer using a table, I feel the Joytech is better suited for this.
The Joytech is however an excellent choice if you plan on pluging it in to your PC. Since you can then make sensitivity adjustments, using your Windows controller profile settings. I have used it in a real Rally simulator and it excels.
It really is a good wheel, but comes up short in some features (and gives you others that you don't need, like a chronograph built into the wheel). Add this to the fact that Joytech's website is lacking greatly in the way of support for their products, and you have a product that is really only useful if you have the time to learn how to drive differently on each game you own.
I hope that Joytech will update this model and address some of these concerns in the future.

works, but..........2007-07-21
spent forever and a day trying to figure out why this didn't work in any games, then by chance unplugged other logitech controllers (joystick, game pad) and then the games recognized it just fine. I don't understand why this is, since the other controllers were made by logitech too and they all use the same profiler software. Irritating for sure, but not surprising coming from logitech.
Great Steering Wheel.......2007-03-25
This is a great steering wheel and good price, It has worked well for us.
We are not driving games fanatics but this wheel is probably suitable for our experience level.
Very Good Wheel.......2007-02-24
I have not previously owned a game wheel, but this one is very nice. I have been extremely happy with it, not finding any problems with my it on my PC, to include NFSUG I & II as well as a couple of other driving/racing games. The problem the other fellow spoke of it not working with these is probably due to a lack of updated drivers, but once you get those, (easy to find, too :) it is a dream of a wheel. It does not have that "tight" feel of a real automobile, but still all in all a great wheel for the amateur racer who doesn't need it to feel "real" to still enjoy racing with it.
I gave it 4 stars and not 5 because I could not get it to work correctly with my PS2 even though it says it is compatible with all machine types. Perhaps I did something wrong? I couldn't get it to respond well, when it did respond at all.
Overall a very good wheel. Well worth the money spent.
Works well with track mania.......2007-02-14
The controls are good and works.. However if you are looking for a "REAL FEEL"...this is not the product. Takes time to get used to and sometimes, it feels like there is time lag between what you do and how the car behaves. But after you have done a particular track a few times, your mind sort of adjusts to it. I said "sort of" not "REAL". Anyway, that is my experience.
For children.......2007-01-31
The size of the wheel is for children and with smaller hands and not of my son's. He is 16 but he will need something more bigger in size and more technologically advanced.

Customer Reviews:
OK FFB racing wheel.......2007-02-11
I got this driving wheel to enjoy the GT Legends game for Windows PC. After having had it for some months, I'd say that I was disappointed with the way the motors interpret the forces, which is (in my opinion) unrealistic. The self- centering point actually seems to work against you as you are speeding down the straightaway, causing one to have to rock the wheel back and forth to maintain your path. So as a consequence, I have turned off all force feedback effects so I can maintain better control.
I think the best thing about the design of this product is that the pedals, while feeling a bit on the flimsy side (afraid I will break them if I jam on them too much) are a good ergonomic for your feet, and feel relatively OK.
I found myself later on wishing I had purchased the Logitech FFB, as its operation seems a bit more in line with what one would expect with a driving sim. That, and Logitech is more popular with some folks I know on line who drive racing sims.
Do yourself a favor- for the money it may seem like a good deal, but for a bit more, Logitech may be a better choice.
The wheel itself is awesome, the software has some kinks.......2006-08-19
I think that the wheel itself is excellent for the price. I play Richard Burns Rally with it, and it does its job very well. The wheel itself is sturdy. The clamping system for the wheel to stay put on the desk fits almost anywhere in any position, normal or odd. My desk is on a corner and it fits on the corner of my room. The moniter is on the center where this corner is, so usually, most things have trouble fitting, but this fits almost perfectly. My only trouble I had with installing this was that the software was out of date and was not compatible with XP. It took me a bit to realize that, but the website had the newer drivers. The software itself is confusing and sort of iffy, however, it is not too bad and it does it's job. Its conveinient but also problematic because the wheel calibrates itself as you play, it's not a perfect system, but it does the job. The only other qualm I have is that the cord for the pedal to the wheel is short, but I have special requirements so it's all good.
Okay, But Only Lasted 1 Week........2005-09-22
I bought this wheel for 80 dollars at Circuit City, and to tell the truth it was a waste of my money. It is very bulky and it barely fit on my desk, and the racing just isn't realistic in my opinion. After one week (I took very good care of it) it just broke, stopped working. I reccomend you spend your money on something else.
Good for the money but..........2004-03-31
Considering it is a fairly cheap wheel I suppose you get what you pay for;
It is sturdy but the pedals dont have a high enough resistance and IMO have too much travel in them.
The paddles are easy to reach but the other buttons are a little awkward and take some searching-for if you are in the heat of a moment.
The steering is EXTREMELY notchy, which for the game I play makes this wheel almost impossible to use with certain high powered rear wheel cars that are extremely sensitive to slight movements.
Good choice, but..........2003-10-01
This wheel is good: it feels in hands more real than Logitech Wingman Force GP and MS SideWinder FF2. Buttons are comfortable; pedals are unusual, but works good and never slips on the floor.
But it has *big* problem - drivers (at least, for Win2k). After couple weeks of struggling I've returned it and have bought Logitech Momo Racing Wheel. And glad about that, MOMO is much better :)
Bottom line: really good wheel, but not for Win2k

Customer Reviews:
Is the wheel laggy? or is it my reaction time?!.......2007-07-06
Bought this product used and as soon as I plugged it into good ol' XP it ran fine. At first I looked for settings on how to customize the controls but it turns out the game I wanted to use it for already recognized it and set up some defaults. I had to manually set up the pedals but again, that was no problem. Having variable speed is a MUST in racing games, I can take turns much better and much faster now that I don't have to totally drop the accelerator around the beginning of a curve. I do have one problem though. It seems the turning is a little laggy. It takes a quarter second for the game to recognize the turn. This could be a game issue, a hardware issue, drivers, I'm not sure. Maybe I am just a terrible driver! Either way I have adapted for now and everything works good enough until I go down and dirty and try to modify it. I with I could adjust the sensitivity of the wheel, maybe I can in game. I was, however, impressed with how easily and accurately the system calibrated. Overall this was a great buy and I surely recommend it if you can find it cheap.
Quick, easy setup, loads of fun!.......2007-04-08
I picked this up for about 10.00 to replace my ancient (even older) racing wheel for my computer (3700+, XP, 3G/RAM, X1600 512Meg video card) and figured it either wouldn't work "quite" right if at all, after all, this is a pretty old wheel to plug into a fairly recent computer.
Anyway, XP picked it right up with no drivers needed, and within seconds, it was ready to go! After a fairly quick drop in the control panel to make sure everything was calibrated, I fired up NFS:MW and was amazed at how much life this old wheel still has in it! Pedals are set up against my sub, so they don't move even when I'm standing on the accelerator, and the wheel is very firmly attached to the desk with no slippage. If you're a race fan and don't have one of these wheels, kick yourself. Hard. The Momo wheel is nice, but this one's much less expensive, and does its job with a simple elegance not seen in too many controllers these days.
seems ok.......2003-08-10
Thought I'd pass along a few things I discovered, maybe saving others a bit of pain.
I never could find the "schemes" they talk about, but I think it doesnt matter, cuz most games have there own setup screens.
Wasted time trying to get Sidewinder listed as first gaming device in control panel(gaming options?)
Dont waste your time. Just unplug your other gaming devices(joystick, gamepad..) and things should be ok. That's the beauty of USB- easily connected, easily disconnected-even when PC is on.
Clamp for clamping to table seems pretty good. Wheel has a bit of play , rocks in and out just a bit. This doesnt affect gameplay, but could this mean I'll have a problem later?
Maybe I'll go to store and see if other brands have same problem.
PEDALS: stiff action, which is what u want, I think. Dont wanna have wimpy pedals where its hard to control accelerator. This is first wheel I've ever used, so I cant compare this wheel to others.
Pedals do need to be secured down, they slide away from you. Look on underside of pedal platform, make sure to tuck the cord safely into one of the grooves they provide on the bottom, else you'll end up with pedal platform eventually wearing its way thru the cord.
Physical setup is a snap. Disappointed that I clicked on links in the provided software to get help at Microsoft site. I think theyve changed the site somewhat, didnt find what I was looking for. You can find some troubleshooting tips at site, tho.
Havent decided whether I'll keep it or return it yet. May well keep it.
A great racing wheel!.......2002-12-05
WE bought this for our son for Christmas last year and we haven't been disappointed. It's not difficult to program to any game you want to play and it clamps on the desk in such a way that it doesn't move at all. Though a little pricey, it is definitely worth the money if you're looking for a good racing wheel. We had bought another racing wheel before this one and it was junk. We couldn't get the pedals to work and compared to this one, it was [poorly built]. Microsoft makes a great product. We also own the Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback Pro joystick and that has held up wonderfully for 4 years now. We've gotten a lot of use out of both of them and I recommend them if you're looking for a wheel or a joystick.
wow.......2002-08-09
absolutely makes gaming more fun. Works great with Need 4 Speed
It also works great with the included games, including Monster Truck Madness 2. Definitely worth the price. I got it when it first came out and I don't regret it.
Eventually I began to use it less, but I think that goes with most new things that people get. Eventually they get used less.

100% sensitivity.......2007-03-07
The previously mentioned over sensitivity of this product is actually being underestimated. In both the cases of the pedals, and the steering wheel, it is calibrated in the sense of there being a small null zone, then 100% sensitivity. Meaning it is literally impossible to have the steering/brake/throttle anywhere between 100%-0%, its a "snap to full" calibration if you will. DO NOT BUY
will this game workk with this wheel?.......2007-01-24
i just ordered HARD TRUCK 18 WHEELS OF STEELL ACROSS AMERICA and i looked at the dude who told how to get it to work on xp will it work and is it a USB controller?
It's a good wheel..........2005-12-24
I got the V3fx (N64 version with vibration) wheel years ago, and it is a pretty good wheel. It is constructed very well, you can program the pedals to be digital (A and B or any other combination you like) or analog (up and down on the joystick or any other joystick combination), and the vibrator is strong and can be shut off. The wheel does not have the miscalibration problems most 3rd party controllers have (except in a few games, such as "Cruisin' USA" and some others).
One of the V3's best features is its adjustability. Simply slide the 2 position locks, and raise, lower, or change the angle of the wheel, lhen slide the 2 locks back in.
Good, But Not The Best........2005-12-22
I just got this wheel, and boy, it works great. i use it on my PS1, and its great! the only thing that bugs me is that on some of the games its pretty hard to control-its really sensitive. its also pretty squeaky, but for 20 dollars, this is worth it.

Product Description
Logitech offers its WingMan Attack game controller. It is equipped with: 3 action buttons designed for quick access; rapid fire trigger; single centring spring for smooth and accurate movement; versatile grip handle for flexible hand comfort and control; stable base with large footprint, and rubber grippers; high-precision throttle for accurate power settings.
Product Description
WingMan Formula helps you control your on-screen car almost like you would a real race car, so you lap faster and crash less. You'll appreciate this racing system whether you are in fast switchbacks, making a tight hair-pin turn, or just shifting positions on a 2-mile oval track. In auto racing, there is no such thing as 'close enough'. The Wingman Formula includes a steering wheel and a foot pedal assembly. The steering wheel has four wheel-mounted programmable buttons and a strong, easy to use clamp that fits the edge of any desk. The pedal assembly has gas and brake pedals with non-slip surfaces and a 'dead pedal' foot rest; the assembly fits comfortably under most desks.
Amazon.com Review
Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the WingMan Formula racing wheel. The steering wheel assembly is simple--it clamps on to almost any desk firmly and connects to either your game or USB port. Place the gas and brake-pedal pad on the floor, and you're ready for the green flag.
The control is precise and realistic, offering much better gameplay than other controllers for driving software. The nonslip rubberized wheel grip is comfortable and designed after actual racing wheels--you might even feel a twinge of resentment when handling your nonvirtual car. Six programmable buttons, four near the center (Speed Racer-style), let you shift gears, fire weapons, or do whatever else it takes to win. All are within easy reach of the thumbs, so you won't have to relax your control.
Though there's no feedback to simulate the pull of actual driving conditions (as with the Logitech WingMan Formula Force), you'll still find yourself immersed in the drive. The pedal base is large and sturdy enough for long use and won't slip on most surfaces. The spring-based pedal is as easy to control as the wheel, and a quick tap on the brake won't bring you screeching to a halt. The large size of the units--12 by 14 inches for the pedals and a 10-inch diameter for the wheel--will be awkward to less-dedicated gamers or those with limited storage space for peripherals. Whether you're a little old lady who only drives on Sundays or a mad-style speed demon who eats pavement for breakfast, the Logitech WingMan Formula will give you the control you need to keep racing for hours. --Rob Lightner
Pros:
- High-precision control
- Realistic feel
- Nonslip grip

SWEET WHEEL.......1999-12-18
this wheel has my vote for 4 stars, that's just because it's not the force. other than that this wheel is awesome. it's easy access programable buttons are a major plus for those fast games we gamers like to play in these modern times. further more, it's rubber grip is the BEST i've seen...most the others are just made of the same material cows let out of their "BUTTS". so my final words are...either buy this wheel or the red force one, either one you get is a lifetime good investment.
