DON'T BUY THIS FLIMSY PRODUCT.......2007-07-11
At first I was pleased with my new 128M PNY Attache pen drive. Yet, like so many products today, the "shelf life" is incredibly short. Unfortunately, for a pen drive that means that you lose out on all the things that you have saved one it. The front end of this PNY Attache pen drive, a USB connector, detached from the internal board after almost 2 months of almost daily use.
I'm going to forgoe buying cheap stuff from Taiwan and China. Not worth the money in the long run.
Worked exactly one time before lapsing into suspended animation .......2006-12-15
I'm glad I didn't spend my cash on the PNY 128 MB Attache USB 2.0 Portable Flash Memory Drive that sits before me but am sorry my employer invested in a handful of these sorry things.
Mine worked exactly one time before lapsing into suspended animation or whatever catatonic state it now inhabits. I know many modern electronic devices are engineered to fail, but one use?
There are many better built portable memory devices out there: better built in that they hold more information, are Mac compatible, and they do immediately suffer a total system failure.
On the bright side, at least I was never put in a situation where I would actually have to rely on this device.
PNY Flash drives suck.......2006-10-04
This was bought for me by an employer. I was able to get one machine to recognize it, my Micron office machine running XP Pro. However, this drive wasn't recognized on any other the computers I have used it on: a dedicated offline Dell, my homebuilt XP Pro machine, my second home PC running XP Home, the networked Microns at the labs at work, my wife's IBM laptop, my IBM Thinkpad. And without the company receipt, Best Buy wouldn't take it back, and the receipt is gone; and it only cost $25 so it's not worth pursuing. It's still annoying, though.
I don't know how PNY stays in business selling garbage like this. I've owned three other flash drives, including my current 1G Lexar JumpDrive, and never had a problem.
Died after a few weeks.......2006-08-09
Worked fine for a couple of weeks and then just died. The problem was that it was not recognized by XP or Linux anymore.
works ok - but not for key chain.......2005-07-09
I wanted a flash memory drive that I could keep with me always - on my keychain. Although this product has a loop for attaching to things (like keychains) - the loop is very small and difficult to work with. After having it on my keychain for two weeks, the small plastic loop broke and the flash drive fell off - I almost lost it.

Customer Reviews:
RUFURB works great!.......2007-03-16
I bought this size because it is the only one that works in a ABB robot controler. Well 128MB or smaller. No problems, looks brand new (except the REFURB printed on the side). Paid like eight bucks for the thing shipped to my door!
Rugged and handy!.......2006-12-09
This flash drive took a dive with me into the Atlantic ocean and didn't suffer any ill effects. It never lost any data and still works fine a year later. The drive is incredibly durable, and I love not having to install anything to access the data. I can transfer files without any fuss at all. I don't think I'd buy a flash drive from any other company.
Solid, Reliable.......2005-11-06
Mine has performed flawlessly. USB storage keys are extremely handy for anyone who spends any amount of time on more than one computer. This model is compact and has endured physical rigors without a problem. I'd only get rid of it to buy a larger model from the same manufacturer (SanDisk makes the Cruzer).
So far so good..........2005-09-12
It really does what it say, i've been having this item for 7 months, and i've been using it with no problem at all.
- Windows XP, in all its versions, find the flash drive immediately.
- The cap doesn't go out as other flash drive.
- The drive fit in any usb port with no problem, 2.0 and 1.1 speed.
- It has a nice green light that show you the status of the driver. It flashes when it's busy, and stay on when it isn't.
- When you safely remove the item from the desktop bar, the light turn off, letting you know that it's now ready to taking out at not risk of loosing information.
- It's not heavy at all
If you just need to move some documents and music from one place to another, and do not manage really heavy imformation this is the drive for you.
Really Handy.......2005-08-16
This Flash Drive is really handy and very cheap. A must have... if you don't need to take your whole life on a mini cruzer, then 128 mbs are enough.

Customer Reviews:
Totally Fair for the Price.......2007-08-14
I bought mine over a year ago. I've changed out the music three times, run through several battery changes and even dropped it once. It still works perfectly. I did throw away the really crappy earphones that come with it, replaced them with a better quality set, about $20, which I can always use in other ways if this gadget finally does die. The buttons all work, just the basic stuff: skip forward, skip back, +vol, -vol and off. What else do I really need? The sound is fine, too.
Like someone else, I took away one star for a temporary freeze-up, but like him, it started up again just fine with a battery change.
(Strange, though, because the first battery was new, and had plenty of juice.)
Overall it sounds like they have some quality control issues, as a lot of people are getting units that just plain don't work, BUT if you dodge that bullet, you get a very decent little mp3 player for an amazingly good price.
love it.......2007-07-21
I bought this for my husband so he could listen to tunes while mowing lawns. It doesn't hold a lot, but enough for what he does. It was easy to use. He is pleased with it, and so am I.
<
>.......2007-06-21
I had it for about 3 months and it finally started skipping non stop so I got a new one but not the same brand. Dont drop it a lot and be careful where you put it
So Far, So Good.......2007-06-14
This is my 1st MP3 player. It was the cheapest one with the best ratings I could find. I didn't want to pay for features I didn't need. I had an initial problem getting it to work...turned out to be my mistake...I hadn't noticed that the battery came in a shrink-wrapped sleeve that had to removed(duh). But after that, it was fine. I use it primarily for quick&easy data file transfer between our two PC's, but the sound is fine through my Etymotic head phones for music, too. It did freeze up once (couldn't get the buttons to respond). I removed the battery, put it right back and then everything worked fine again. If not for that, I would have given it 5 stars. I'm a little nervous about the few reviewers who say the thing broke down quickly, but if this thing lasts a year, it will be worth it.
Used at the Gym.......2007-05-10
I bought this to use at the gym. I'm glad I bought it. The most important thing is to use good headphones. I used it with some cheap headphones at first and it was nails on a chalkboard, then I plugged in my Audio Technica ATH-M30's into it and it was a completely different story. If you put songs on it for the gym and can hit play and just let them go this player will work well for you. If you need to adjust the volume or change the song every 4 minutes this probably isn't the best thing to get. Overall I think it's a really good value.

Whoa!.......2007-07-10
I use this at work. I do weedeating, and as you can imagine its reallly loud. I just put it on hold, stick it in my pocket and Im good to go for a couple of hours. Even at the highest volume (which is pretty ear-drum blasting!) its batteries last. I LOVE the equalizer, and as for durability, its survived two years of abuse between work, getting left in the sun, having gatorade spilt on it, etc. I give this a definate thumbs up!
An okay player...Warning: Lead exposure hazard.......2006-12-27
I got the player quickly and was easy to transfer mp3 files...just plug it into the USB port, drag, and drop. Main Menu is somewhat cryptic, using abbreviations instead of words for each selection. The little selection nub worked okay but felt a little slippery. Display is bright and readable with a nice array of backlight colors to choose or cycle through. The unit uses a AAA battery instead of the more common rechargeable kind thru the USB port.
The real irating part is the earphones. The phones themselves sounded marginal with little bass and are somewhat large in size. The REAL problem with them is that the cord insulation contains LEAD and thus poses a health hazard. I already own Christmas lights that have this problem, but those I handle once per year. But to have lead in a product that is to be handled daily is unacceptable. And since I had bought this for my daughter, for sure I will throw the earphones away and buy better, SAFER ones for her, if not send the unit back altogether.
Why 2 stars and not 1? It's small but not too small, has a USB connection and includes a USB extension cable, nice looking and good display, and easy to use once you learn it. Instructions are simple (in them you see the lead warning). Will attempt to post a copy here when I get them scanned in.
Be Aware Does Not Work with Itunes.......2006-05-09
Nowhere in the product description (or in the manual) does it mention that there are limited sites to download from.. in fact, there are no sites listed at all. The manual says to drag music from a music download site to the mp3player. Although this was easy to do, the player will not recognize any of the songs I downloaded. COBY customer service was unhelpful. Call and find out exactly which sites you can download from, or don't waste your money.

Problems with rebate.......2006-09-01
I too am happy with the performances of my Edge DiskGo! products, but have had trouble receiving any rebates.
WARNING - Deceptive Marketing Rebate Practice from Edge Corp.......2005-02-10
I recently bought an Edge Tech Corp DiskGo flash drive and have been satisfied with its performance so far.
UNFORTUNATELY, the company itself leaves much to be desired. They market many of these drives and other products with a VERY RESTRICTIVE rebate program which requires the rebate to be postmarked within 10 days of INVOICE. They make no allowance for holidays (as happened to me over xmas & new years) and personal vacations. Discussions with Edge Corp's main marketing & sales manager fell on deaf ears, and messages to their VP were unreturned.
Only buy this product if you can meet their restrictive, if not onerous rebate rules. Using the SuperSaver free shipping may put you out of the rebate window. I for one, will never buy another Edge product.

Still works after going through the wash!.......2004-12-04
I've had mine for about a year. No real comments on that, other than that they should ship it with a string to attach the detachable cap to the main unit. I'm surprised I haven't lost the cap yet.
My big point, however, is that I accidentally put mine through the wash last week. It survived just fine. For that, I give it 5 stars.
Very tough little device.......2004-01-28
Two weeks after getting my Sony vault, I accidently put the thing through an entire clothes wash cycle (no bleach). Finding it soggy at the bottom of the drum, I figured it was totally trashed. I stuck it into my laptop's usb and WOW it still worked. A few days later the glue gave out, but I put a little epoxy on it and it is fine. I hot swap it between Windows XP, 98Se and W2K without any problems. No complaints, I would buy another.
The glue they use is terrible.......2004-01-19
The glue they use to put this thing together is terrible. I have had two that have come apart. It's very annoying. The drive works fine, but you can't use it very easily when both ends pull apart. I would not buy another Sony Micro Vault.
Things to think about.......2003-05-21
Okay, first off the device is handy to have. The package states you don't need to install drivers and different people have reported different results. I've had no problems plugging into Windows XP (Home and Pro) or Windows 2000. Windows 98 was a little mixed, second edition seemed to do okay but earlier versions didn't seem to want to play without a little additional help. Depending on your technical skills (or lack of) this might be a problem. If you run Windows 95 or NT, forget it. Linux fans running more recent distros won't have any problems.
After all of that, I must add a word of caution. If you do not undock your USB drive properly, you run the risk of toasting it. Something gets modified and you forever run the risk of having any version of Windows detect it as a security device. Don't ask me how to fix it because I haven't been able to and Sony had no idea what to do. I had bought a 256 Micro Vault and had this happen after a couple months (but in that instance it was undocked properly and it still died). I bought a 128 meg Micro Vault to see if I could "force" the same thing to happen.
Long story short - YUP. So there seems to be a problem if the unit is not removed properly - meaning you have to click on the little icon on your system tray and tell it to "stop" the device. Basically this lets your computer know the USB drive is going to be unplugged. You might get away with not doing it, but the Micro Vault seems prone to some sort of internal damage and after that happens, you won't be able to use it on any computer as a USB storage device. All you will get are prompts asking for drivers for your new USB "security device." At this point, there is no known fix and you will be regulated to trying to get your money back. My recommendation is get a USB drive - they are so darn handy to have ... but avoid the Sony brand until they fix whatever is going wrong with their various Micro Vault models.
Nice Product...kinda..........2003-05-13
I ordered this to help me take my work with me wherever I go. I am very active and needed something I could carry with me without being a bulky hassle. But one thing Sony forgot to design was a clip of some sort so that it doesnt fall out of your pocket so smoothly that it's lost within the first day of posession. Granted, they do have a "keychain" hole on both ends of the device with which to attach it to somehting which is less likely to be misplaced. But it didnt even fit nicely on a thin half inch ring, much less the main ring of my keys, and they dont supply even a small nylon cord built for it's poorly designed holes. It's too expensive a gadget to have a poor tether assembly, and it's too easily adoptable by a passerby. The usefulness of the product however is very high. It just needs a better design.

Looks nice, but not durable.......2007-06-26
I've had this drive for about 2 years, but I doubt it was used even a dozen times.
On positive side:
I think it looks good, or flashy (no pun intended), and rubber casing prevents the chip from hi Gs on impact, if you drop it. Sorry, but that's about it.
On negative side:
I don't think claims about durability of this drive compare to others have any ground. Month since I've had it the rubber cap developed a crack and inevitably got lost. Next thing I know is that rubber casing simply slid from the chip when I pulled the drive of the USB port. Or so I thought I did. Took my some time to figure out what that metal thingy sticking out of my computer is. The chip seems to be attached to the rubber with some glue that obviously wasn't good and didn't even look cured. Well, I lived with that until recently the USB connector simply broke off leaving me with other part in my hands. So why would a piece of rubber be considered better protected then say SanDisk metal casing is beyond me. But I got to give credit to the designers of this unit: they made a great usage of very inexpensive technology - rubber sock over the chip, the profit margin on this unit probably bit any titanium-covered units by wide margin...
My recommendation: stay away from it, if you are really going to use it, but buy it if you just need a cute gift.
