This monitor broke within 4 months of purchase. I had it repaired under warranty (but paid to Fedex it). It took a month to get it back. It just broke again a little over a year later. I will never purchase a Proview monitor again.

it's not the greatest quality picture, but i moved my computer to a more central location and needed a flat monitor in order to push the desk against the wall (normal monitor was way too deep). was a cheap price so i didn't expect dazzling quality and unmatched clarity but it fits my needs and i'm happy with it!

This screen has a rather cheap look you will notice as soon as you take it from the box. I am using it in my 10 year old son's room, and for that it is fine. However, we have many flat screens in the house and this one has the worst picture quality. I find everything to be very bright and lacking any real depth of color. A few pixels were bad. My son on the other hand, being 10 years old, has no complaints.

One year warranty. 1.5 years later, boom! Monitor goes dead as door knob. I originally paid $387.17 for this monitor new in 2005. I'm glad monitor prices have gone down, but this a big disappointment. I have old old monitors that have lasted me 10 years plus! I expected much more on life of product.

short and sweat review: Nice display when working. The big problem is that there is a bug in the geometry settings. Not only do you have to play with all the setting when switching resolutions, this monitor will reset it's geometry settings on a whim. You never know if your going to boot up to an oval display or not. Proview must of thought we enjoy fooling with their neat on screen controls so much that they gave us a reason to go in to them. Arrrggghhh

Worked fine for awhile, then just died..........2007-08-26
This monitor didn't even make it two years in our house. Weeks ago, the screen started flickering randomly. We called Proview customer service, where we were told it was the video card on our computer, not the monitor. That wasn't the case. It was the monitor! It died soon after hanging up the phone with tech support. I'd be very careful buying this monitor. Is nothing made to last anymore? The monitor wasn't cheap to begin with...it wasn't like we picked it up on clearance. It cost $249. Proview has lost a customer.

I had my Proview monitor for ONE YEAR and it worked great...then it started acting up: The screen remained blank (black) and it took numerous restarts OF THE COMPUTER (since I couldn't see what's going on I had to hard reboot). Well, that went on for a while; now it won't work at all.
Honestly, I can't trust any Proview monitor now.
Actually I'm back on my OLD monitor, which is glass and quite heavy-but the picture quality is much better than the Proview LCD.
Needless to say I threw away all the paperwork so I'm screwed. Besides the monitor would cost a fortune to mail.
I'm just here to warn you--mine broke after one year of flawless--now it's trash. So I'm out $200 bucks. Why am I not surprised....

I got this monitor from "Staples" for about two hundred dollars to replace an ancient and bulky 15" CRT. After about A year, it is running as it did when I first hooked it up. No Visual distortions, no noises, no adjustment problems.

Almost good, but not quite!.......2006-05-30
I recently bought this monitor because my CRT went bust. I like the monolithic and simplistic look (I have the black version), the OSD is easy to navigate and use, and the monitor works as it should, with no noises or dead pixels. The picture is free of distortion, flicker and geometric errors. The colors are clear and bleed-free with good overall details and fidelity. So why only 3 stars you might ask? Well, my major problem with this monitor is that text is not as sharp as my old CRT used to be, and that seems to cause me eye strain and headaches with prolonged viewing, also looking at the screen is like stareing at a fluorescent bulb (I don't know if it is a common thing with lcd sreens). I tried different resolutions and 1024*768 is the best compromise (800*600 is very blurry and 1280*1024 is the sharpest setting but text is way too small). I tried other LCD monitors at the store and I noticed that this text bluriness is a common feature with most LCD screens of many brands, some are better than others and this Proview model falls in the middle. All monitors I tested obtained the sharpest text at 1280*1024 (Sony models were among the best). Therefore I conclude that this monitor is good enough for occasional viewing, but if you do a lot of reading or surf the web a lot, than look for something else. Overall: DECENT!

Great value and performance.......2004-12-15
This review is for the model PL713s,which should be very similar to this model. I bought it on sale on black friday at Staples for $200. I plugged it in to my computer and the picture looks great with no adjustments. No dead pixels. I'm not am expert,but I think the picture looks as good as $600 monitors that I've seen in stores. Only complaint, when I run it with the resolution set at the native resolution of 1280x1024 text looks very small unless you adjust it using the view menu at the top of your desktop. IE remembers these settings. If this is a problem, Dell sells a lower resolution 17 in display.

El monitor Sylvania CL772b es una excelente opcion para las personas que quieran entrar "por la puerta grande" en el mundo de las pantallas LCD. Si bien deben existir monitores con prestaciones mas avanzadas que este, no deja de resaltar por su acertada relacion calidad/precio.
Solo dos cosas tengo que decir en contra de este producto: Las cornetas incorporadas no tienen un sonido optimo, el cual se torna a veces un poco insoportable al escuchar musica y la guia del usuario que viene con el monitor es demasiado pobre en contenido, ademas de que no se distribuye bien la información relativa al funcionamiento e instalacion.
Si buscan una opción economica y de calidad, este monitor no los defraudara.

Text looks OK on this monitor and it does free up your desk space but the image quality is not good. Graphics seem washed up and fuzzy, not ultra sharp. I recommend that you test this monitor at a store and compare the image quality to others.

I got it yesterday, and it worked out of box. Nothing to complain except Amazon sent me the one with the wrong color.
Picture is OK, and I do not play games, so I do not care about the 30ms reaction speed people are talking about.
One thing I would like to have is wall mountable, but this one is not.

I've had this monitor for 5 years and it works beautifully.
I purchased a 2nd one to have as a backup in case it fails.
But it keeps chugging along and the picture is excellent.

I purchased a KDS monitor and it lasted four days past it's one year warranty. When I sent it back to the manufacturer, they said "Sorry, it's dead. You will need to purchase a new one." That's right, it lasted 369 days and then it the screen went blank! Who would make such a poor product that is only lasts one year? Buy something else and save yourself some time and money. I would not recommend this company or their products to anyone.

I have purchased two of these units, a couple of weeks apart. The first one was flawless, hence the second purchase, but the second had to be exchanged because of flickering. (The illumination for the panel is occasionally flakey, and it could drive me nuts.) I still like the one that works well. It's very bright, it's *huge* compared to a nice flat 17" trinitron CRT monitor. I expect, as with most electronics, that the good one will work well for a reasonable life. The bad one needs to go back to the factory. I expect that bad one to be an anomaly, so I am looking forward to the replacement.
